@Judethepud my husband finds my level of gas hilarious, it is out of control! I just blame the baby 😆

FirstTim3Mummy · 20/03/2024 18:37

Hello, I'm back. I disappeared back on part 1 thread I think when we had some troubling news at 20 week scan

All is fine. I am now 30w1d and had so many blood tests including the glucose tolerance test and scans every 2 weeks

There's just too much for me to catch up on so I'm going to read through this thread later

I'll be having a planned c section due to previous complications with my first born.

Anyone else here having a planned c section? Anyone with George Eliot hospital in Nuneaton?

@FirstTim3Mummy good to have you back with us and great to know things seem to be going well.

Has anyone got experience of thrush? I’ve never had it before but I think I might developed it now and heard it’s common in pregnancy. I seem to have all the symptoms other than the dodgy discharge, all that is just normal pregnancy discharge. Am I best booking a GP appointment or can I just buy some cream? I feel by the time I get an appointment at the GP the baby will nearly be here!

What symptoms are you having? I think if it's classic symptoms you can just buy from the chemist but I'm not sure you can take the pessiary while pregnant and I know you can't take the tablet as it says not to take when pregnant. Get some cream to ease the symptoms and speak to the chemist x

I have thrush for the second time this pregnancy. Luckily I'm not really itchy or anything, both times it just seems to be internal. I've had Caneston pessaries with Clotrimazole to treat, I heard it's best to go to the Dr as you have to be a bit careful with what active ingredient you use. I've also chosen not to use the applicator so it doesn't go too far up, plus it's not cheap so much better to get on prescription with your maternity exemption. I only used one pessary last time and it seemed to clear up (this was a few months ago) but I've got a week's worth this time and have been advised to treat for 7 days. I hope you're not too uncomfortable and that this advice helps!

SarahB88 · 20/03/2024 20:45

Thanks so much @Yourowgirl that’s so helpful! I’m a bit itchy, sore and swollen around the vulva area and noticed it’s a bit stingy in the shower this morning. I’ll just ring the GP tomorrow and hopefully they can see me next week. The itch has been going on for about a week but just had the sting today.

My poor partner had no idea all of this would be going on in pregnancy 😂

Emmacb82 · 20/03/2024 21:19

I’ve really suffered with thrush and have had 3 courses of treatment so far. It’s not something I have ever had so it’s strange that it’s really affected me this pregnancy! I’ve also had the pessary and cream and third time seems to have worked so far. Would recommend speaking to your GP, all I had to do was fill in an online form and they sorted a prescription out for me to collect.

Yourowgirl · 21/03/2024 08:41

I think I got it from having bubbles in my bath 🙈 have been struggling trying to bath without having the water too hot and without products during pregnancy, but now I won't risk it. Cannot wait to have a proper bath when the time comes!

Sa11yCinnamon · 21/03/2024 10:04

@FirstTim3Mummy lovely to see you and glad everything is well! I was told very early I'd have a high chance of needing a planned section but have two more growth scans to come so will see what's happening then. It's a bit odd as I'm trying not to think too much about either option til I know more.

@FirstTim3Mummy @Sa11yCinnamon I'm having a planned section too and have made peace with it 🙏

MrsB2005 · 21/03/2024 16:19

Just a note to add about hospital bags, dont forget to add snacks / drinks for your birthing partner.

I didnt really think about it with my first as everything I had read was about planning for me , forgetting how long it could be for your birthing partner.

We have also previously packed a charger for his phone and spare clothes (separate bag that we left in the car) due to an unfortunate incident when having our 1st and the midwife trying to find him something to drive home in as his clothes were in a bit of a mess.

Yes, Im probably a massive over thinker and most people wont need extra snacks etc but just thought it was worth a mention

Oh is that a thing?! I was planning to have a bath at some point with radox bubble bath. I've not had a bath yet ths year 😁

SarahB88 · 21/03/2024 17:24

I got some cream and a pessary from the doctor today, yay! She didn’t even want to wait for my swab results to come back, I’m just to take it. So glad she understood!

@FirstTim3Mummy I’ve also heard that the bath bubbles can be bad. I thought Epsom salts were still ok to use but going by my current state I’m not sure ☹️

Anyone else having loads of braxton hicks? I’ve been so uncomfortable today I’ve come to lie down for a bit after work.

Yourowgirl · 21/03/2024 17:25

I don't want to put you off @FirstTim3Mummy(welcome back btw, glad all is well with you and baby now) You are advised to avoid scented products because it can upset the pH balance 😳 I was just hankering for a relaxing bath (lukewarm water and no bubbles just doesn't have the same effect). Unfortunately I can see a link between the reoccurrence of the thrush and my baths 😢

@SarahB88glad you have something to sort it! I was swabbed first time and then had to wait to be told it was probably thrush. Luckily for me they just gave me the prescription straightaway this time too. Hope it clears up soon!
I have only had one situation where I thought it could be Braxton Hicks, but not sure. Belly was painfully tight for an hour or so, like a squeezing feeling. Never had a contraction before so don't really know what to expect?

LondonGirl1992 · 21/03/2024 18:04

Happy Thursday everyone! I can’t believe how fast these weeks are flying around- it feels scarily close now!

I have actually been feeling the best I have this whole pregnancy lately- finally a break from the sickness. I’ve been sleeping really well and just feel super fresh! However, I do have achey hips now and at the end of the day, I struggle to get up and get out of the bath etc… My IT bands have also been giving me some grief but it’s a small price to pay and I feel so thankful to just not be throwing up!

Hope everyone that’s been feeling a bit down or unwell start feeling lots better! ❤️

SarahB88 · 21/03/2024 18:05

@Yourowgirl my bump has been tight on and off constantly since last night. I’m now having a horrible tightness right across the top of my bump. It’s not painful but it’s really uncomfortable. I’ve really struggled to sit at my desk today because of it! First time so no idea if this is normal. Baby’s kicking away so assume she’s fine in there.

Dexnt15 · 21/03/2024 18:26

Has anyone had leg cramps in their calves during the night? The last 2 nights I’ve been woken up in such pain, my husband thought I was going into early labour. And now both legs are just sore and tight.

I’ve read it can be common in pregnancy, but ouch!

I haven't had it regularly but have had it twice now, but just before bed. Having never experienced cramp before my reaction to it was somewhat hilarious & dramatic 🤣 My husband said if this is your reaction with cramp, what is Labour going to be like?

My calves were sore for a couple of days after each of the episodes too, then it just disappeared.

PeppedUp · 21/03/2024 20:04

@Dexnt15 yes, I’ve had it a couple of times and really bad - like I can’t walk properly on that leg for a couple of days. I actually think the pain is almost comparable with labour!

newbie12345678 · 21/03/2024 22:53

Anyone else really feeling the pressure down below now? I'm 32+2 and when I walk I really feel the weight of everything bearing down, maybe I should be doing my pelvic floor exercises more (at all) 🙊

Nina7 · 22/03/2024 09:34

I think I've had a Braxton Hick last night but I'm not sure...
I woke up in the middle of the night and I was feeling like a tummy ache/period pain. Not the whole belly but parts of it, lower down and centre mainly.
I'm not sure I felt my belly particularly tight, but it reminded me of the period pains that I haven't felt for sooo long...

Is that a Braxton Hick?

GratefulMum10 · 22/03/2024 11:27

@Dexnt15 yes I have had calf cramps a handful of times now and only at night. Last for about a minute and sometimes I need my husband to massage it out.

Only once has it still been a bit sore the next morning.

Last night I had the same thing but in one of my hamstrings!

I'm going to speak to midwife at our next appt on Monday. Not sure if taking magnesium could help so will get their advice.

Sa11yCinnamon · 22/03/2024 11:41

Hydration can be a factor with leg cramps, make sure you've had plenty of water throughout the day (don't panic drink before bed like I did!).

I am feeling lots of pressure too @newbie12345678, ordered a band for my bump to see if that helps when walking etc.

SarahB88 · 22/03/2024 11:52

@Nina7 not sure a braxton hicks should hurt. When I get mine my whole bump goes tight and it feels really uncomfortable.

I’m wondering if yesterday was a combination of braxton hicks and trapped wind though because I feel much better today 🙈 I spent the whole evening on my birthing ball and it was a total god send!

Also delighted with the over night relief of the thrush treatment!

Yourowgirl · 22/03/2024 12:37

@SarahB88 I have also suspected that I might have confused Braxton Hicks with trapped wind 😅digestion still very much disrupted. Also fantastic that you've had relief from the thrush already 😀
