Perhaps a TMI question. Those of you that have been told to increase iron in take, are you finding you have to go number 2 more often?

I had my lactulose on standby thinking I might need to help things along but no such need! I’m going more often than normal but everything is healthy without going in to too much detail.

I heard once baby starts moving down this can happen so I’m wondering if that’s more the reason than the iron but would be interested to know if anyone else is having this. My braxton hicks are also very frequent which I think is to be expected.

Athena1984 · 18/03/2024 19:59

Opposite effect for me!! Have to eat prunes to help it along!!

SarahB88 · 18/03/2024 21:59

Oh @Athena1984 that’s awful, hope they’re working!

And they tell us pregnancy is meant to be a beautiful thing 🙈😂

junebuglb · 19/03/2024 08:53

@SarahB88 interesting you have mentioned this as I am not on iron tabs but have really noticed this all week! 31+3 and I have noticed some digestion changes, needing to go more often and often some stomach ache in the mornings. I wonder if this is because of baby moving lower/getting bigger as you said

This for me too, have started taking lactulose which seems to be helping. Combined with my tummy growing/squishing all my organs it's really not pleasant!

I'm another one with increased digestive issues/stomach upsets in the last week or so, 29+6.
My digestion hasn't been the same as pre-pregnancy throughout, but having to go more frequently and increased tightness/discomfort in my tummy is new

nh93 · 19/03/2024 12:19

Yes i'm also struggling with digestive issues. lots of loose stools and tummy aches (sorry TMI🤣)

has everyone started on their hospital bags yet? i'm 30 weeks on Saturday just wondering when to start, my last two were left quite last minute.
this time i'm hoping to be a bit more organised 🙏😅

junebuglb · 19/03/2024 12:21

Flippin heck, had my midwife appt this morning and all was well apart from my blood pressure is reading high… 🫠😬 having to take a second reading myself at home this afternoon and if it’s still high I think they want to get me checked for pre-eclampsia. Anyone else had raised BP and it not been bad news? Currently just psyching myself out a little

SquashPenguin · 19/03/2024 12:34

I’m 31wks today and baby is still breech ☹️ I desperately do not want a c section if it can be avoided, so I need this baby to at least try and turn. I’m worried my partial septum is blocking it, baby’s head is right under my ribs and it’s getting hard to breathe.

Sa11yCinnamon · 19/03/2024 13:41

@SquashPenguin I've not had it confirmed (scan next week) but I'm almost certain mine is the same, there's definitely something right under my ribs making it harder to breathe and bend over. I've got a bicornuate uterus so sounds like we might be similar.

@nh93 I've not thought about my hospital bag yet but got an email today saying I should! Very interested to hear when others are packing theirs, and what's going in!

SquashPenguin · 19/03/2024 14:09

@Sa11yCinnamon I’be seen baby’s head a few times right next to my right ribs! Even my partner was freaked out! It’s so difficult to bend over! I need to try some of these stretches and exercises to get baby turning. It’s got to be more comfortable that way 😩

I think I’m also the opposite - although am only five days in on the iron tablets. I am not a fan of lactulose so am going to ramp up intake of prunes, pears, kiwis etc

I can see and feel a big bulge clearly so I think it must be his head or bum 😂it's so mad!

I feel pain in left side of the ribcage and makes breathing difficult. I asked the midwife about it this morning and she said that it is common and it's related to ligaments!

i have this pain too usually in the evenings it's soooo bad!! I've started to do yoga stretches every night and sit propped up which kinda helps.

@Athena1984 and @nh93 I have this too. I was told it related to the heart issue that I’m having. I also thought it was just normal everything moving or stretching so didn’t mention it until I was in hospital and said to the doctor oh by the way just in case you need to know I’m having this pain…It’s what prompted her to do an ECG!

Nothings been done about it at this stage but I’m back to cardiology on Monday for a follow up appointment so will know more than. I’ve been having the pain daily since the start of December so if its just recent then hopefully it’s nothing ☺️

So as not to worry anyone me and baby are totally fine with my heart issue, it’s totally pregnancy related but not causing anyone any concern right now but I am getting loads of extra monitoring and appointments which is good.

oh really, what does the pain feel like exactly?
i've had it with all my pregnancies so i thought it's just things getting pushed up i don't always have this pain only when i sit for too long or after dinner in the evenings.

Might mention to my MW next time and see what she says

SarahB88 · 19/03/2024 22:13

@Nh93 it goes from being a dull ache to a sharp pain to back to a dull ache again. No amount of stretching helps it. It starts under my left breast and kind of radiates out towards and down the side.

The closest thing I can describe it as is a bruised or broken rib feeling but only for periods at a time rather than constant.

Judethepud · 20/03/2024 12:09

Glad I'm not alone suffering with digestive issues 🙈 my stomach has been so bad the past week (31+3 today) and the gas! I actually feel bad for my husband for once, the tables have turned lol

Nelliepledge · 20/03/2024 13:38

Anyone got any links for any good/practical/comfy hospital clothes for birth/pjs/and going home. Don't know what to get for the best x x

Emmacb82 · 20/03/2024 14:01

I normally use a couple of old style nighties for the birth/afterwards although my second came quite quickly so I only just got my leggings off in time 🤣 they button up so easy for feeding as well if you’re planning to breastfeed.

Ive just been putting our new pram together. Honestly I’d love to make an video of the actual process alongside the YouTube video where they make it look so easy 🤣 but it looks great now it’s altogether 😍
