@PeppedUp is it all children? Our hospital allowed children siblings to visit on the ward. But then a strict no under 16 policy other than that.

LondonGirl1992 · 08/05/2024 08:40

I had my final growth scan yesterday and then a meeting with a dr- I have Polyhydramnios now which explains why I can’t have any food lately without it coming straight back up! Struggling to even hold in water at the moment. I’ve had my c section preop booked for early next week and looks like baby may be here mid next week! Eeek I’m so nervous but excited!

nh93 · 08/05/2024 11:33

goodluck for those in early labour and planned sections, hope it all goes well and babies are healthy 💕 can't believe we are at the end, although i have about 4 weeks left 😅

cosylife · 08/05/2024 15:39

So exciting for everyone! I’ve got 2 weeks until my C-section and a few days left before maternity leave. I’m so restless though, trying to relax but my mind is telling me I need to clean, organise and sort things out 😂

Sa11yCinnamon · 08/05/2024 16:22

I had my last growth scan today, all good and I’m back under the community midwife now - seeing her next Friday when I’ll be 39+3. Wee guy roughly 7lbs something now. So just a waiting game… cmon baby!

Just thought I would check in and see how everyone is especially now the weather is warming up.

I'm ok - have a final growth scan on Monday as baby had dropped a percentile at the last one so they wanted another one - just to check.

I have horrendous lower back ache just about constantly which paracetamol does very little for and keep getting "fuzzy" headaches as well as swollen feet. BP is ok so midwife wasnt worried about.

I always thought this little one would be early but am trying to now get in the mindset they may be late and just remind myself that within the month regardless they will be here, and to try and enjoy the time I have now.

I'm still somewhat in denial about labour and birth but have seen a few different people now and they say it can be fairly common. I also have come to a point I'd rather stay at home "just in case" but actually feel quite good considering.

Cant wait to hear that more Little Ones are here safe & well!!

@Clarkey34 @junebuglb Hope your Little Ones are doing well and new motherhood is going as smoothly as it can x

SarahB88 · 09/05/2024 13:16

@MrsB2005 hopefully your back pain is a sign of things starting to happen!

I saw my midwife this morning, all fine. I’m 1cm dilated and she could feel baby’s head when she did the sweep so just need to wait and see now. I’m back again next Thursday so will have another sweep then if nothings happened. She’s really happy with the position of baby and how low down she is. Happy and relaxed little baby going by her heartbeat. Fingers crossed for labour soon but who knows!

I know fundal height isn’t accurate but I’m still measuring small but not enough for the midwife to be worried and no need for any more growth scans at this stage so still looking like baby will be on the smaller side.

MrsB2005 · 09/05/2024 13:40

@SarahB88 Fingers crossed you wont be needing another sweep and baby will be here by next Thursday.

I'm sort of hoping that baby holds off untill next week as my daughter has an important event on Saturday and whilst I have prepared her I wont be watching as I cant sit for that long in a sweaty hot leisure centre, I really hope her Dad will be able too (We have a back up plan just incase) and I have my final hair dressers appointment next Wednesday.

Clarkey34 · 09/05/2024 14:42

I can't believe my due date is tomorrow, but we've had our little girl with us for nearly 3 weeks already 💕
We have found these 3 weeks tough, but so rewarding.

I can't wait to hear (read) news about all your little ones arriving.
I keep checking in to see if any more May babies have arrived.

Sending lots of good luck wishes to you all. I hope your little ones don't keep you waiting forever.

PeppedUp · 09/05/2024 15:33

@Clarkey34 I’ll have to double check - I just saw a sign when I went to triage that said no children allowed in any of the maternity/postnatal wards. My son keeps talking about the baby being born at the hospital so I’d love him to actually be able to come in. Happy due date for your daughter tomorrow by the way!

@MrsB2005 I am also switching from expecting an early baby to a later one. I was getting lots of symptoms like cramps, bits of the show etc but they have died down a lot. Once I’m on maternity leave I’ll probably be a bit happier with the wait but at the moment I’m feeling very over being pregnant! I also have swollen feet - they’ve calmed down a bit but last week I could feel them wobbling when I walked!

@SarahB88 that all sounds promising! I asked about a sweep today but the midwife said baby wasn’t engaged enough at 4/5 and it would be too risky if my waters broke (I think if they slip down fast then their cord can get trapped). We’ve just blown up the birth ball so I can try and get him a bit further down. Do you know how engaged you are?

SarahB88 · 09/05/2024 16:09

@PeppedUp I’ve been 3/5th engaged since my last appointment a couple of weeks ago. The midwife said I can’t get anymore engaged until labour starts properly so that’s a relief as I’m quite uncomfortable! She could feel baby’s head when doing the sweep.

I go on my ball for a bit every day. I find moving my hips in a figure eight is a good one for me and I can feel baby hitting the cervix which is what we want. I also do lunges with the ball which help open up your pelvis to get baby down there. My midwife said even just going on your knees and lying across the ball is good for getting baby in the right position, especially if they’re back to back and need to move. I also try to sit upright on the sofa and with my legs crossed/feet together for a good amount of time to keep my pelvis open. It certainly seems to have helped get baby in the right position so I’m just going to carry on and see if I can encourage a bit more dilation to get things going.

LondonGirl1992 · 09/05/2024 16:15

I can’t believe there are still only 2 arrivals of the May babies that we know of! My due date is the 19th but baby will be arriving on the 15th (unless I go into labour earlier). I’m excited and apprehensive but above all, I just can’t wait to meet him or her! ❤️🥰

Emmacb82 · 09/05/2024 20:38

@Emmacb82 congratulations! Sounds like it all went well, hopefully you’re home soon ☺️

Wonder who is going to be next!

nh93 · 09/05/2024 22:24

@Emmacb82 Aww how lovely! Congratulations enjoy your little newborn bubble ❤️

nh93 · 09/05/2024 22:27

I'm really struggling with this heat, my house gets really hot so i'm now worried how i should dress the baby when she's here.
i've only ordered sleep suits in newborn size ms for now, but now i'm thinking to return some and get short rompers or the thinner material without the feet?

it's so hard getting them dressed right for the weather. what's everyone dressing their babies in?

Sa11yCinnamon · 09/05/2024 23:13

@nh93 I’ve also only got sleepsuits but I’m in Scotland so it’s less of an issue 😂

PeppedUp · 10/05/2024 07:01

@Emmacb82 congratulations!! Sounds like a lovely little newborn bubble that you’re in 💖

PeppedUp · 10/05/2024 07:16

@nh93 do you know how hot your home is? I think overnight sleep suits with a body underneath should be fine unless there’s a heatwave.

I’ve only got two sleep suits in newborn size plus three sleeveless bodies. Then I’ve got two rompers for during the day (plus some tights if it’s cooler) and a little matching top and bottoms for colder weather (a hand me down from my son). We also have little hand knitted cotton cardigans that my partner wore when he was a newborn. My son never brought up milk or had nappy leaks so we could keep him in the same clothes for ages - if this baby is more messy I’ll just order more sleep suits or dress him in our 0-3m clothes.

PeppedUp · 10/05/2024 07:20

@SarahB88 thanks - got out the Swiss ball last night and feeling optimistic about it!

SarahB88 · 10/05/2024 08:11

@nh93 have you got a thermometer so you can see the actual temperature of your room? We got one in the baby box (in Scotland) so will be using that and going by the recommendations on whether she needs more than a sleep suit, I’ve got a little 0.5 tog sleeping bag too. Our bedroom window is at the front of the house which is south facing so it can get quite warm if it’s been sunny all day.

I had loads of cramps during the night after my sweep yesterday so will see if that leads to anything 🤞
