Hello, just to update you all, our little lady made an early arrival into the world on Sunday. Mum & baby are doing ok. X

Huge congratulations! I’m so happy for you both.

So exciting seeing the arrival posts! 🥰

venus93 · 23/04/2024 12:52

Congratulations both!
@junebuglb @Clarkey34

@SarahB88 @Sa11yCinnamon thats reassuring to hear others are getting it too. I called the midwife and she said because it has settled down since yesterday evening and baby is kicking that I should be fine but to go to triage if it comes back.

@Emmacb82 I hope the tablets work! I also got B12 injections and they have made me feel like a different person - I just mention it as I got my iron levels up with the tablets plus floradix/spatone, but still felt shattered, while the injections have made a massive amount of difference

SarahB88 · 23/04/2024 15:29

@PeppedUp good to hear that baby is on the move again! I’m having an opposite, my baby is moving so much and do strongly it’s actually getting really uncomfortable.

Sa11yCinnamon · 23/04/2024 15:44

@PeppedUp I actually just assumed it was normal at this stage, but I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so will mention it then, glad you said that!

OP posts:
PeppedUp · 24/04/2024 13:03

I went to triage this morning for my injection and when I told them about the cramps they hooked me up to the machine and told me I was having very small contractions. I was a bit surprised as I wasn’t feeling cramps at all while I was on the machine so who knows what it would have looked like yesterday or the day before. They say the contractions could ramp up or could settle down so I still have no clue if baby will be here in one week or five. My cervix is closed at the moment though.

@Sa11yCinnamon curious to hear what your midwife says!

Sa11yCinnamon · 24/04/2024 15:59

@PeppedUp I completely forgot to mention it 🤦🏻‍♀️ basically because I had my growth scan first and everything was looking good so was just focussed on that!

@PeppedUp @Sa11yCinnamon I’ve had some pretty bad cramps today so I’m going to mention it to my midwife when I see her tomorrow morning. I feel like baby is going to drop out when I’m walking down the stairs now 🙈 baby is still really active so no worries around that. I’m hoping my body is just getting ready for the big day!

nh93 · 24/04/2024 19:44

congrats @Clarkey34 💕💕 enjoy your newborn bubble xx

To those who have cramps how many weeks are you? i'm nearly 35 and i've had some low pelvic pressure and back cramps (i usually contract through my back rather than front) had some bits of mucus plug coming out but has no blood and it's only in bits.i did mention to midwife but she wasn't too worried.

also OMG to the painful movements of baby, i don't know what is is but this baby i can feel every shift and movement and it's sooo uncomfortable and painful. don't know how i'll manage another 5 weeks!

I've also got really low stored iron making me feel shattered,so they've given me ferrous sulphate and then ferrous fumerate which my stomach isn't agreeing on or even absorbing, i've read ppl recommend spatone so fingers crossed that works with some OJ! x

Sa11yCinnamon · 24/04/2024 21:15

@nh93 I'm 36+1. I've had a bit of a growth spurt (or baby has, ha) so just assumed the cramps were related to ligaments stretching/organs being squished...

I got blood taken today to check my iron again, I've been on tablets for 8 weeks and don't really feel any different so will be interesting to see if my levels have changed!

OP posts:
SarahB88 · 24/04/2024 21:42

@nh93 I’m 36+3 but the cramps have been getting steadily worse(?) for about a week now. I’m also feeling some back ache and a lot of pressure down below, I keep feeling like I need the toilet but it’s just pressure 🙈 I’m just assuming it’s my body getting things ready for the impending labour. I’m going to ask my midwife about it tomorrow.

PeppedUp · 24/04/2024 23:04

@nh93 I’m 36+2. I’ve had excruciating lower back/sciatica pain today but I think it’s related to my pelvic girdle pain because I’ve had the sensation for ages it’s just become significantly more severe in the last two days. I’ve been struggling to walk so I’m going to buy crutches tomorrow

Colourfulflowers · 25/04/2024 03:25

I’m having cramps too (I’m due in a couple of weeks). They started about 2 weeks ago on and off, and after being checked was told its pelvic girdle pain. Definitely feeling uncomfortable, can’t find a position at night that works!! Also my legs are restless and swollen at night, and I’ve come up in heat rashes on my legs too… during the day they seem fine.

SarahB88 · 25/04/2024 11:46

So I had my midwife appointment this morning and baby is full engaged! Hence all the feelings I’ve been having the past week and a half! I’ve got my colostrum harvesting pack so we’re hoping staring that will get things moving along 🤞

MrsB2005 · 25/04/2024 12:34

@SarahB88 Oooo how exciting!!!

Congratulations @junebuglb & @Clarkey34 - Hope both babies are doing amazingly well.

I cant believe we are all so close to the end!

SarahB88 · 25/04/2024 13:19

@MrsB2005 it’s the best news! So glad I’m finishing work tomorrow if she intends to come a bit early!

Sa11yCinnamon · 25/04/2024 13:35

Ahh @SarahB88 that's so exciting! Mine is head down but not engaged yet. Out of interest, what's in the colostrum harvesting pack?

OP posts:
SarahB88 · 25/04/2024 13:42

@Sa11yCinnamon Hopefully not long until your one drops down and is engaged! It’s just got a load of syringes and a how to guide on harvesting. You’re not meant to start until 37 weeks but as baby is fully engaged my midwife has said to just get started with it. Apparently it can help to bring on labour hence not being advised before 37 weeks. I’m going to give it a go and see if I get anything, I’ve had some leaks so I think I might get a little bit. The syringes are a really small size thankfully, I was a bit worried they would be full size and daunting to fill if you’ve not expressed much. I think I’ll have a bath and give it a go after work today.

Sa11yCinnamon · 25/04/2024 14:19

@SarahB88 cool, thanks! I'm going to try next week (at 37 weeks), but not stress about it.

seems like a lot of ladies have had cramps and lower back pains, not long to go now 💕

oo goodluck! did you get your colostrum harvesting from your midwife or bought your on?
my hospital doesn't give it to you until you attend a BF course which is a waste of time for me, i'm going to probably order from amazon and start in two weeks 🤞🏽

SarahB88 · 25/04/2024 15:13

@nh93 I got mine for free from the midwife but we seem to get a lot of freebies in Scotland what with the baby box as well. So I’m not sure if it’s a national thing as I have seen packs for sale too. My breastfeeding support can’t be accessed until I’ve had the baby.

Sa11yCinnamon · 25/04/2024 15:36

I was at a breastfeeding class and midwife appointment yesterday and neither offered, I might just get one from Amazon.

I'm up for anything which could bring on labour 😂

OP posts:
PeppedUp · 25/04/2024 17:29

I’ve been colostrum harvesting for a couple of weeks. I know you’re not meant to but I did it with my previous baby and he was late and if it was so effective at bringing on labour I’m sure everyone would do it!
