I am around 4-5 weeks pregnant and since I found out 2 weeks ago keep forgetting I need to change what I eat! So far I have eaten sushi, gorgonzola and prawns (though some people say these are OK to eat?). I also drank 5 units of wine last week. I have resolved to do better from now on but am paranoid I have already turned my baby into a four-headed alien. Any thoughts/reassurance out there??

i was in the delivery suite for a while after giving birth to DD1 - long enough for me to have slept a long while after all the stitching and everything was done.

dh was holding dd1, who went to sleep.

as i'd been awake for 32 hours and in labour for 24 i was too exhausted to care for her at first.

when i woke dh said i looked pale, midwife checked and my temp had gone up.

i had a drip in place, but they put another one and started giving me antibiotics - i had saline in he other after the anaesthetist gave them hell because i was so dehydrated - it was summer and record heat that year and hospital was boiling.

then i was wheeled to a private room.

with dd2, i had her really fast and waited hours for a room, then they just said it was a private one. i wasn't about to argue with that!

as soon as we got settled and dd2 got on for her first feed, dh was dispatched for my meal.

she was born in the morning, so come 9PM i was hungry again.

rang the nearest chippy for a nice black olive and green pepper pizza and SIL went down to get it - she had a poke of chips.

Sorry to butt in here but just had to mention friend of mine who was told by her MW that the main reason they warn mums-to-be not to drink is so they don't get rat-arsed and fall over, hurting themselves or the baby!!!
