Please share, heading into a new cycle soon and I’d be interested to see what else I can try

Ours was a long journey to parenthood. Lots of very contrived trying and fertility. I was 42 - we reached Christmas having given up actively trying 12 months before. Our giving up had not involved using contraception, but we were not looking at the calendar and conversely not making any lifestyle adjustments like not drinking. There was a New Year moment when I actively paused and said silently to myself ‘so that’s it then’. First week of Jan, I was in a London restaurant eating rare meat and drinking wine and I felt “Ooo I shouldn’t be doing this” - I just knew. The DC is 18 😀

Stopped trying as well for me.

theprincessthepea · 30/12/2023 23:55

It was my birthday week. I spent all week with OH. It was summer and sunny. Also quite a lot happening in terms of work and needing to destress. No plans to fall pregnant.

I stopped tracking ovulation and started taking vitamin d supplements for the first time and it worked

Matildahoney · 31/12/2023 03:44

Didn't track, was too busy and staying between my place and DP's with none of my testing stuff. Our 4 day old is currently having a feed

headcheffer · 31/12/2023 06:18

Went on holiday and got rolling drunk for 10 days with DH in the sunshine Blush

LizzeyBenett · 31/12/2023 08:00

We had given up hope of conceiving naturally were to start IVF the following month we went on holidays drank and enjoyed ourselves 2 days into IVF took a test on a whim just to be sure and it was positive.

Mentally, I’d resigned myself to trying for another three months and if it wasn’t to be by then it would probably never happen for us (I was late 30’s) and I was ok with that. I relaxed a bit more we become more fun/jokey with each other again, had sex more during possible peak dates (worked out by us) and we put a pillow under my bum during sex and my legs in the air after sex. Finally, ended up having two healthy babies naturally in very quick succession.

25yearstilretirement · 31/12/2023 08:13

We tried everything for 8 months with this one. sperm meets egg, ovulation sticks, Basal body temp, loads of sex around ovulation etc. nothing.

BBT and sticks told me I was usually ovulating around CD14-16

The month we conceived we did it once 3 days after my period (CD8). It lasted about 2 mins as we did it on the sofa as soon as 2 year old was in bed. Didn't think much of it other than "good sex". I can pinpoint that this was the conception shag because the next day I got terrible food poisoning that lasted 2 weeks and we didn't ever actually do it again until I'd already tested positive.

thecatsthecats · 31/12/2023 08:51

The month before was a January diet where I lost about a stone very quickly. Thought I was pregnant, but actually the diet put my ovulation out of whack (slow carb diet).

Next month only had sex twice at very unlikely times for conception. Didn't even notice til I was five days late because I was worried about the cat at the vet. Both very shocked by the positive!

App13 · 31/12/2023 08:52

I ate sockeye salmon 240g , 3 times a week for a month

NewShoes · 31/12/2023 09:41

Went on holiday, totally relaxed, drank lots of red wine. Conceived that month after 10 months of trying.

Gt1986 · 31/12/2023 10:01

Went on holiday and enjoyed ourselves 😂

redxlondon · 31/12/2023 10:22

Well my pregnancy at 35 was a surprise, and I found out the day after my 36th birthday….which was a huge all night party!! So my preparation involved wine tasting in Venice, a hen party and an all nighter!!

But why?

redxlondon · 31/12/2023 10:23

Just to add to my post, I had a uterus biopsy the month before conception. That potentially helped open up my cervix….as weird coincidence after so many years of not using protection.

RuthW · 31/12/2023 11:23

Stopped trying

Sparklyhat · 31/12/2023 11:51

@tryingforasunshine hi Op, the month I conceived my DS I tried castor oil pack for the first time. Can't remember the ins and outs now but made it myself and you lay it on stomach for 1 hour a day , up until ovulation I think then stop. Surprisingly it. worked for me first time. Good luck

Alloveragain3 · 31/12/2023 11:55

Took Clomid!

theprincessthepea · 31/12/2023 15:59

A common theme on this thread is holidays, sunshine, fun (or being too occupied with life stresses) and sofa sex 😅

2024IWillBeNurturingMe · 31/12/2023 16:00

Had IUI.

Jt2008 · 03/09/2024 15:39

Do you think it helped? Do you mind sharing their details? I live quite local.
Thank you

soberfabulous · 03/09/2024 15:57

Secretly eloped to Vegas and got married.

Appreciate this is slightly more extreme than other suggestions 🤪

Harri899 · 03/09/2024 19:55

Stopped exercising and eating healthily obsessively.

Went from sex every day to every two or three days in the fertile window and leading up to it.

Meditated!

Sara1988 · 03/09/2024 21:18

3 months of proceive for me and partner
Bath stopped drinking for a month
