Hey all!!

Im 39 + 4 tomorrow and eagerly anticipating the arrival of my first DC.

Super excited and beginning to feel slightly worn out now as pregnancy insomnia has kicked in.

So far I’ve had inconsistent contractions, loose bowels, cramping in pelvic area.. but no mucus plug or bloody show :(

I was sure that baby would have arrived by now, but looks like it’s way too comfortable!

How is your final week(s) going?!

@apples24 weds is my due date so we shall see. I'm booked to go up at 4pm and I think if was my waters they'll induce me to avoid an infection.

This is all so mind boggling. Always thought it'd be much easier 😂

ELCS sounds good! Is this not your first?

apples24 · 25/09/2023 07:52

@colourPink - this is my second. First was 41+5, so not surprised that things are taking their sweet time. Though finding this last bit really hard going.

colourPink · 25/09/2023 07:54

@apples24 I sympathise. Fingers crossed we have babies very soon!

Pinklilly · 25/09/2023 08:41

@NewMamaToBee congratulations! What a trooper delivering a big baby well done! I hope you can enjoy this next chapter.
@colourPink it all sounds confusing so hard when waters trickle as opposed to gush out. Hopefully things will be clearer for you today.
@apples24 im still waiting around too for the little one- I am 40+2 and my daughter came at 41+1 so I suspect same wait but my outpatient induction which is hopefully a milder form of induction is booked for Saturday providing they have staff and beds.
hope everyone is hanging in there this last wait is so hard!

colourPink · 25/09/2023 21:01

So test as the day assessment unit showed it was not my waters that broke (I am so confused by that as it was a lot of fluid!)

But I lost my mucus plug this afternoon so I'm hoping things will get started soon!

Pinklilly · 26/09/2023 14:14

@colourPink oh that’s confusing! But mucus plug is very encouraging I hope it’s not too long for you.
im still twiddling my thumbs 40+3 and no signs here. I am hoping to have a sweep tomorrow which hopefully will give me a bit of guidance as to how ready my cervix is.

colourPink · 26/09/2023 15:57

@Pinklilly my due date is tomorrow and still nothing. I know logically the due date means nothing but psychologically it feels like it's passing my by with no baby yet!

I have a midwife appointment on Thurs where we'll probably attempt sweep number 3 and book a possible induction. Hoping baby makes an appearance before then!

Cakeorchocolate · 26/09/2023 16:35

Congratulations @NewMamaToBee and @BritishDesiGirl .

I hope you're both recovering well and not too sore and sleep deprived!!

I'm heading towards 41wks, like @apples24 I'm currently refusing induction, though don't have a CS planned. Just hoping this one decides to surprise us by coming on their own before, or a couple of days after 42 weeks so I don't have to commit to one or the other.

Induction with my 1st was not an experience I would like to repeat.

Pinklilly · 26/09/2023 19:28

@colourPink inknow exactly what you mean. I almost wish I didn’t have a due date. I just feel like now I’m in a limbo phase.
I hope your sweep is successful and they make a plan your pleased with.

@Cakeorchocolate I’m sorry your first induction was a hard experience. It’s so difficult to know what is the right thing to do is. Was your first induction due to being overdue?

Cakeorchocolate · 26/09/2023 20:10

@Pinklilly yes the induction was due to being overdue. Induced at 40+12 and dd still needed dragging out with forceps at 42 weeks. She had no intention of coming out!

I had sweeps at 40 and 41 weeks, another 2 during induction, none did anything for me, my body / dd just were not ready it seems.

Fingers crossed for you having more success if you have a sweep tomorrow.

apples24 · 26/09/2023 20:41

I went into pre-labour at midnight, active labour this morning at around 8am and delivered a little baby boy (3.48kg) today at 3.51pm. Dilated super fast and contractions were really strong. Boy was back to back, needed epidural and ventouse but everything went really well and was a positive experience. ❤️

Cakeorchocolate · 26/09/2023 22:01

Congratulations @apples24 glad you had a positive experience and your little boy is here safely.

I hope you're recovering well.

Pinklilly · 27/09/2023 08:32

@Cakeorchocolate gosh that sounds like a really challenging labour I’m sorry it was so tough. Fingers crossed body gets ready this time.

@apples24 congratulations so pleased for you! Hope you enjoy the newborn snuggles now.

colourPink · 27/09/2023 08:59

@apples24 congrats!! Baby finally came when they were ready 🙂 I bet those new born snuggles are amazing!

Feeling very down today as today I am 40 weeks and nothing 🙃 lost my music plug two days ago so was certain something would start but nope!

Going to try and do something nice to distract myself today.

apples24 · 27/09/2023 09:13

Thank you all.

I lost my mucus plug in bits over three days and labour started the day after plug started turning into a bloody show, think it all started happening when baby was ready.

Pinklilly · 27/09/2023 13:19

So I just had my sweep and it seems positive. Midwife said I was 2cm and cervix was soft but baby’s head is high so have been advised to walk and bounce on the ball. Both of which I’ve been doing a lot and it’s tough to continue but hopefully it will help.
I feel more positive as similar to you @colourPink i was feeling down this morning and really demotivated. Now I feel like it’s unknown to me but my body is trying to do something. Here’s hoping the sweep helps.

log51 · 27/09/2023 14:47

Hi all! @Pinklilly I have exactly same due date as you so am 40+4 today. About to go to midwife and really hope it’s similar outcome to yours and that I’m a bit dilated!
Have been doing everything in terms of ball bouncing/walking/dates/raspberry leaf tea/acupuncture and reflexology as I really want to avoid induction if I can! This is my first but have heard lots of horror stories and still have my fingers crossed for a water birth

Pinklilly · 27/09/2023 19:05

Hi @log51 how was your appointment with the midwife?
reflexology I’ve heard works wonders and if nothing else it feels great! Sounds like you’re really trying everything! Have they discussed induction with you?
with my daughter I had an outpatient induction so insertion of pessary and given 24 hours to get into labour and I did and still had a water birth so maybe if your trust offers that it’s an option.

log51 · 27/09/2023 20:51

Ooh that’s good to know thanks. Appointment was good, she could do the sweep as said I was just less than 1cm. Said wouldn’t have to discuss induction til 41 week appointment which I’m quite glad about as didn’t really want to be on a day by day countdown. Would highly recommend reflexology I’ve had it the whole pregnancy and it’s so amazing and relaxing

Pinklilly · 28/09/2023 09:42

@log51 thats good you had a successful sweep. I didn’t have any action overnight despite being hopeful!
I’ve been having pregnancy massages which have been wonderful and I’ll look into reflexology for after pregnancy might just feel special to do something for me.

log51 · 28/09/2023 10:22

@Pinklilly nothing for me overnight either! Reflexologist did say Saturday is a full moon which apparently means more babies are born!

colourPink · 29/09/2023 13:33

Is anyone else STILL pregnant? Feel like the only only left.

40+2 today and officially overdue 😭

Pinklilly · 29/09/2023 18:16

@colourPink im still here 40+6! Feeling super frustrated but can’t do much about it!

@log51 how interesting about the full moon- at this stage I’ll believe and hope for anything!

well done ladies we are hanging in there

Cakeorchocolate · 29/09/2023 20:18

I'm still here too @colourPink .

41+1, still no signs he's ever coming out!

Had a deep, thorough pregnancy massage today. They said they normally have to go light with pregnancy massages as it can bring on labour but obviously didn't need to do that for me. Told her to crack on and try to bring it on! 😅

Just enquired about reflexology somewhere as a friend mentioned that yesterday.

Have a sweep planned with the midwife for Tues, which will be 41+5 (should be induction day, but I'm planning to wait a few days extra just in case a few more days will avoid another induction). I'm willing him to come before any of that anyway but not very hopeful. Fingers crossed he surprises me though!

Good luck everyone still waiting.

colourPink · 29/09/2023 20:33

@Pinklilly @Cakeorchocolate

My midwife has me booked in for an induction at 41 weeks (but there is a 48 hour window so I could go to 41+2). Apparently its standard where we are and what they strongly recommend now. So that's Weds-Fri next week for me.

Is this not the case for you both?

Hoping all our babies arrive soon!
