Hi I am currently almost 6 weeks pregnant I started off last week Monday with brown discharge and now this morning I have woken up and I wiped myself the blood is a lot heavier and slightly more red. Has anyone had this before? And what has the outcome been for you?

Sorry to hear you're going through this. This happened to me twice at 6 weeks. The first time I unfortunately miscarried. The second time I was scanned and they found a pregnancy with a heartbeat. That second pregnancy is now a lively toddler. My advice would be to call NHS 111 and see if you can get a referral to an early pregnancy clinic. Hope everything turns out okay for you 🤞

Hi I have a scan booked for Wednesday now hopefully all goes well! I’ve not had no symptoms no more :( but even when I had first found out the symptoms were on and off is this normal?

Are you having any pain. I had heavy bleeding with both my pregnancies at six weeks and it was fine. If you aren't having pain it's a good sign x

Kuljeet96 · 17/10/2022 10:05

No pain at all and I only had a miscarriage in July and we were not trying to get pregnant so this was a surprise but a good one!

@Kuljeet96 i was in the same boat a few weeks ago. Can you call your local EPU and ask their advice? 💐

Denny53 · 17/10/2022 10:33

Could be an implantation bleed. I bled heavily with my now 45 year old at 6 weeks gestation Can you take a few days bed rest? Have you any other children you need to look after

Kuljeet96 · 17/10/2022 10:35

They’ve just told me to rest and take it easy until my scan on Wednesday. I have no pain or anything and bleeding is very light now but it’s a pinky red

@MarmiRae what was the outcome on yours? And did you still have symptoms?

scrambledeggy · 17/10/2022 11:31

My symptoms were really on and off at this stage. I'm currently pregnant again and had the same until 8-ish weeks when they became more consistent.

Kuljeet96 · 17/10/2022 11:53

its like a period bleeding now doesn’t look like it’s gonna be good news but I’m trying to be hopeful😭

Thinking of you @Kuljeet96

stillinflipflops · 18/10/2022 22:15

I had bleeding with my first, turned out to be a scar from a colposcopy that had been irritated as the cervix stretched.
Hopefully everything will be ok for you.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 18/10/2022 22:45

Offering a hand hold OP. I hope the outcome is positive for you

Lillygolightly · 18/10/2022 22:59

Wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow and hope you get the best news.

I’ve had bleeding in 3 of my pregnancies. The first time was fine and she’s now 4, the second time I sadly lost my son, the third time I was already bleeding when I found out I was pregnant, in fact only found out I was pregnant because I was bleeding and sent for as scan as it was assumed it was retained tissue from losing my son and to my utter surprise discovered 2 heartbeats. A week after that scan I was driving home when I felt a sudden rush of wetness, it was so much I was sure I had wet myself. Got home ran to the loo to find it was blood and lots of it. I was a mess and convinced I had lost them, it was an agonising 3 day wait for a scan and I was still bleeding and terrified. Luckily my little beans were there and all good and no reason for the bleeding could be seen. I bled again on and off up to around 17 weeks, it was a very very anxious pregnancy but they both made it to 37 weeks and are 10 months old now.

Bleeding doesn’t necessarily mean the worst, but it also can and that’s what makes it all so hard. When I was bleeding so much in my last pregnancy I desperately searched for stories of bleeding that had a good outcome, I read them all and hoped and wished so hard that it would be the same for me. I am sure your probably doing something similar. I really truly hope you get the very best news tomorrow. ❤️

Best of luck OP x

I've had two experiences of red bleeding in pregnancy. The first came after a days of brown spotting and did progress into heavy bleeding/miscarriage back in August.

I got pregnant again a month later and soon after after my initial positive, had bright red spotting (did not have any spotting, even brown before that). Luckily the bleeding didn't progress and actually stopped completely after a few days. I had an early scan last week and was able to see very tiny baby (measuring only 5-6 weeks) with a lovely strong heartbeat.
