So I've just found out today I'm pregnant, super excited however we had a miscarriage back in 2014 and I just can't shake off the feeling like something bad will happen x

Congratulations everyone. Hope I can join. I'm about 7 and a half weeks. Very nervous even more so reading these 😂 I had a previous MC at 12 weeks about two years ago. No nausea in that pregnancy and none this time. In fact my symptoms are identical in both pregnancies so far. Mine also started with random bleeding when I wiped and continued to full blown hemorrhage two days later. Hoping for more success this time. First midwife appointment is a week today and bizarrely it's a phone call. Anyone else not having a face to face?

My appointment was an hour long phone call, she said they've kept it this way after covid as they get through more people 🤦‍♀️ would have preferred a face to face but hey ho. Try not worry about not having symptoms, everyone is so different so you may just be the lucky one. Some points in the day I wouldn't even think I was pregnant now that my headaches are easing off xx

That's interesting to know everyone's getting phonecalls but it seems weird as the first time I had a mw appointment it was face to face and she did carbon monoxide test, height and weight check and blood pressure which will all be missing this time. More worried as well as we have just found out my partner has a very rare hereditary disease.

ShaneTwane · 21/07/2022 22:35

What symptoms do you have now? Mine are: big boobs, bloating and needing to wee every three minutes! And and actually feeling very tired at night for once.

I got all those things done at a separate appointment on Wednesday when they took bloods too. I'm having headaches, they were awful last week and just feeling so tired all the time. No sickness as of yet but I didn't have it when I was pregnant with my son either. Hopefully we just sail through our pregnancy 😂 is that wishful thinking? x

@Stephanie226 I really am 🙈Hopefully you can catch up on some rest on your days off xx

Hope your having a nice relaxing day off today. We are away out to play crazy golf and ten pin bowling 😁 x

@Stephanie226 that sounds so fun – though exhausting too! 😂I've spent the last couple of hours doing dull but necessary chores and I'm already ready for a nap 🙈

Hi @ShaneTwane ! I'm only just over 5 weeks at the moment (time is going SO slowly) but I'm so tired, have nausea on and off (though I have some underlying stomach issues, so it's hard to know if that's actually pregnancy or not) and v sore nipples! Every day seems to bring a new delightful symptom 😂I'm terrified about miscarriage at the moment though so hyperaware of everything. Sorry to hear about your loss. Is that the only other pregnancy you've had? x

Stephanie226 · 23/07/2022 19:26

@SC21 So I had to phone midwife today because my pains, she told me to phone early pregnancy unit which I did but they've just told me to take paracetamol every 4 hours. I can handle pain, I live with it daily cos my fibromyalgia but it's so sharp and intense sometimes in my lower right hand side of my tummy. But they said it's just stretching and my body preparing itself xx

SC21 · 23/07/2022 19:48

@Stephanie226 oh no, I'm sorry to hear that 😕 If it carries on is there an A&E you can get to? You should be far enough along for them to do a scan and check things are okay. It might feel a bit extreme but it's better to be safe than sorry xx

A&E don't see you here for that. It's the early pregnancy unit that I phoned and they aren't opened evenings, it's nuts!! But I'm ok just now and feel quite happy to sit on it. I'm still sore, it's constant but it does move around my tummy and goes from cramp to sharp pain back to cramp again. I am quite petite so maybe is just stretching. Possibility of twins so a bit of extra stretching needed 😂😂 x

SC21 · 24/07/2022 07:28

@Stephanie226 oh, right - the email I got said to contact EPU first, but if it's out of their hours, go to A&E. But it could be different in Scotland! It does sound like it could just be stretching. Do twins run in your family?? I would love twins but have absolutely no family history so think the chances are next to nothing 😂 Xx

Yeah twins are in the family so I got myself convinced that last that's what it is 😂😂 better to think that than somethings wrong. Time will tell... next Sunday is my scan so it's going to be a long week x

@Stephanie226 Yeah, better to be having thoughts like that than stressing about something going wrong! I had a dream last night that I miscarried and it's got me so on edge 😳I've actually moved my scan a bit earlier, but it's still not for another 2 weeks 😫Hopefully work makes this week go a bit quicker for you xx

How are you doing? I spent the afternoon in bed yesterday. Can't tell you the last time I done that. I just kept falling asleep and my stomach was so sore. I'm wondering about phoning the GP this morning to see if I maybe have a uti cos I just don't think my pains are normal stretching especially at 6 weeks 6 days x

OP posts:
SC21 · 25/07/2022 08:00

@Stephanie226 I'm okay, although my symptoms seem to have calmed down a bit recently which is messing with my head! I really don't know what 'normal' stretching pains feel like, but if you're worried and can speak to your GP today it's probably worth it for peace of mind! They should be able to check pretty easily if you do have a UTI. Are you meant to be working this week? xx

SC21 · 25/07/2022 18:57

@Stephanie226 Well, I finally got a call from the midwifery team, but apparently down here they don't even do a blood test until about 10 weeks?! That seems so late to me, especially as the early weeks are so vital for development and I know I'm not in the best health 😕First appt should be about a week after the blood test and then first scan about 12 weeks, so I'm very glad I've got a private scan booked otherwise I'd be going out my mind for the next 4-6 weeks!! How are you doing now? xx

That's rubbish, I'm guessing your already taking your vitamins? Well I phoned GP and they told me to go see them with a sample and I have a UTI so on antibiotics. Was in panic mode and emailed the midwife so she phoned me so I've calmed down now lol x

@Stephanie226 yeah I am. That's so weird - in the last couple of hours I've started getting UTI symptoms and have just been googling the relevant pregnancy-safe treatments! I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I've had quite a lot in the past so I know the signs. If it's worse tomorrow I'll be trying to see a doctor 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's all fun and games isn't it! Out of interest how long is your course of antibiotics? Xx

Aw I really hope not, they aren't bloody pleasant! I'm on them for 5 days. 3 times I asked them to make sure they are safe in pregnancy and then I still googled it and spoke to midwife 😂. Explains the pain I was in, I knew it couldn't be normal "stretching" pains. I'm having cravings for sweet things. I never eat chocolate or cakes or anything but all I can think about is cake! x

No they're pretty grim - I haven't had one for a few years now, but as soon as you start feeling the symptoms all the memories come rushing back! I'm currently necking cranberry juice and hoping I can nip it in the bud before it properly sets in - I feel like I'm on the cusp of it at the moment. I'm really glad you got to the bottom of the pain anyway - that must be a relief. Ahh that's so interesting! I'm the opposite - usually love sweet stuff but am definitely drawn more to salty stuff at the moment! I'm not really having any proper cravings/aversions yet though xx

How are you feeling as the day goes on? I'm thinking about starting the cranberry capsules as I know I'm going to be prone to these my whole pregnancy xx

@Stephanie226 it's kind of no worse but no better at the moment. I think I'll ride it out till tomorrow and then if there's no improvement call the doc. I have cranberry extract tablets in the cupboard that I usually use whenever I start getting even a hint of symptoms (and I've found them pretty effective) but looking online most people say to avoid them in pregnancy and just stick to fresh juice/berries 😩 I'm 99% certain I have a prolapsed bladder so am a bit worried I'm just going to get more and more problems as time goes on, assuming the pregnancy sticks 😕 Are your antibiotics making a difference? xx

Aw god hun that must be awful!! Just get some antibiotics and nip the infection before it gets any worse. I think they are starting to help but still sore. My tiredness is on a new level, I can't even cope with it. I'm hoping the infection is making me more tired too. Got a risk assessment done in work today so I've not to be lifting the children or furniture or anything x

@Stephanie226 I'm torn at the moment - I THINK it might be feeling a bit better, but not sure if it's in my head! I'm already on PPIs so really don't want to add more drugs to the mix if I don't have to!! Ahh that's good you've had that done. I'm knackered too. The nausea seems to have vanished at the moment but every day about 2pm I just want to sleep, and if I don't (or can't) then by about 4.30 I feel dreadful! I'm not a napping person normally so it's a real shock to the system 😂 xx

Will keep my fingers crossed for you today then that hopefully it's gone 😁 omg a nap sounds so frigging good!!! I would be a different person if I could just steal a little 20 minutes each day. Hubby thinks I'm possibly having 10 babies going by the size of my belly last night. It was unreal!! It happens as soon as I eat so 9am when I have my breakfast bar there's no hiding it anymore 😂 x
