Getting induced tomorrow

So I'm booked in to get induced tomorrow (2nd March) I'll be 40 weeks exactly, that's if baby doesn't come today which I'm hoping for. I just spoke to my midwife and she explained what will happen when I get to the hospital. She said there's different procedures they will try all depending on how my cervix is after they check it, one includes rods being put into my vagina?? Has anyone had this done it sounds so painful? Another is breaking my waters and another is putting a tablet inside me. I then asked if it's certain that baby would be here by tomorrow which she did say it could be but also for some women it could actually take days! What?! I'm not prepared to stay in the hospital for so long! Has anyone here been induced and how long did it take and how long were you in hospital for??

@PurBal

I definitely don’t have your patience. Hoping today’s the day.
Oh believe me my patience has completely gone. I'm even considering going to another hospital that have available midwives to do the job! I just need one, just one midwife I'm not asking for 3! 😫

@timewilltel Yes I tore badly with my first and lost a lot of blood (the hospital I went to this time reckoned I actually haemorrhaged rather than it was just from the tear but I was never told that with my first at the time! This time they gave me drugs right after to stem any bleeding and it was a totally different experience) It was only in a anxiety pregnancy group the midwife that was running it, told me about the warm towel method.

I will keep fingers crossed today is the day!! But by the sound of it your body is well on its way. I remember losing my plug the day before I went naturally early with my first.

Been following your thread... I would be crying too honestly. I understand it is no one's fault but you are literally waiting around in hospital unnecessarily :(

Could you go home and try to bounce on your ball or have sex with your partner to kick start labor? It's probably more likely to happen where you feel comfortable!
And maybe they can call you when there is someone in to break your waters?

Or maybe get another sweep before?

Good luck!

I have been where you are - after 5 days I was going insane and kicked up a fuss. Complained to the head of midwifery and told them I was discharging myself because there was no point me being there. They soon flew into action as they didn't want me to leave having started the induction process. I feel for you. It's so frustrating.

CornishGem1975 · 04/03/2022 08:27

Oh and I actually broke down hysterically on the ward. That helped moved things along somewhat...

Raindancer411 · 04/03/2022 08:36

@timewilltel I would maybe ask them to check and see if I had dilated more naturally. At least then if you have, you know you are on your way to meeting your new addition.

Update: ok so I just went out into reception to ask what was happening and guess what I'TS HAPPENING TODAY!!!! I literally just burst into tears!! They were so sweet and apologetic. I was like are you sure please tell me it's certain and she said as far as she knows it's certain! I asked what time but she doesn't know so she's going to check for me. I'm still crying!!! She was then like now since you're here what would you like for breakfast? Lol give me whatever you want!! So I'm celebrating with scrambled eggs with toast and a banana! lol I will defo keep everyone updated Xx

So just been told my midwife is here! She's just with a patient in the delivery ward and when she's done with her she'll be with me!! I'm sooooo happy but also sh*ing myself! I hope everything runs smoothly! The last thing I need right now is for there to be any complications. Fingers crossed that all will go well omg I'm so scared! 🥺

My mind has been so occupied with waiting for a midwife that I've completely forgotten that a baby will be coming out of me! I feel like I'm going to pass out

Ahhh this is wonderful news @timewilltel! You have got this - get that oxytocin flowing, keep calm and you will have that beautiful bundle in your arms before you know it.

So excited for you Flowers

Holskey · 04/03/2022 09:40

Goof kick @timewilltel. I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly ❤

Holskey · 04/03/2022 09:41

Good luck*
I don't know what happened there! 🙈😂

FiftyStoriesHigh · 04/03/2022 09:44

40 + 14. Had the pessary at 10 am, no movement. Home to bed and back to hospital for 7am. Contractions building throughout the day then baby born at 1am the next morning but then I asked to be left to it rather than have waters broken etc.

CornishGem1975 · 04/03/2022 10:26

Good luck! I want to say enjoy but...that's probably the wrong word 🤣 Enjoy meeting your baby!

Raindancer411 · 04/03/2022 10:48

Whohoo :)

tobi21 · 04/03/2022 14:39

I went into hospital Friday 4pm and my son was born on the Monday morning. I didn't have any rods and tbh haven't heard of them. I had 3 pessaries, spaced over 48 hours, then was transferred to the labour ward on Sunday night, where I had my waters broken (twice, the first time was unsuccessful). I was then put onto the hormone drip, and my son was born in the morning after a nearly 4 hour "active" labour. It did seem as though my body was already in early labour as the machine had picked up contractions the night before. I would just pack heavy just in case

@timewilltel

Update: midwife on her way to get me now!
Sorry I posted before reading the whole thread. Congratulations and good luckSmile enjoy your new baby!!
Zed122 · 04/03/2022 15:18

Good luck, you will be fine.

I was waiting days too so I know the frustration well.
Having your waters broken will be such a huge relief, it instantly made me more comfortable and my bump lighter.

Just remember that your body will just take over, even when it hurts your body instinctively knows what to do, it's incredible really. You've got this!x

2018SoFarSoGreat · 04/03/2022 15:31

Good luck and can't wait to see squishy snugly baby very soon!

Staryflight445 · 04/03/2022 15:38

Daisy4569 · 04/03/2022 16:30
