I've definitely missed people, but hoping I've got everyone who's been active recently. Apologies if not!

@becarefuloutthere I'm not horrendous, just feels like a really bad head cold. The worst part is that paracetamol is practically zero use for the sinusy/head cold symptoms I have 😒 May as well be taking smarties!
God yeah it is a very crucial time for you, how are you feeling?
Are you isolating or limiting contact etc?

becarefuloutthere · 17/02/2022 18:51

@Etonmess20 oh that's a pain! Sorry hun!! You may have to go old school and get a bowl and steam to clear the sinuses.
I'm ok yeah. I've been doing a lot less this week and just seeing my parents, sister and her kids, but may go round a friends tomorrow but that's just her and her son. Another friend wants to come to me Monday so I'll just take each day as it comes. I'm not planning any visits out etc, so hoping the odd house visit will be ok!

Begoniagal7 · 17/02/2022 19:30

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, the three week wait is endless. Finally felt properly rubbish for a good part of the day so feeling reassured (for a few hours at least!)

@womaninkent, how far along are you? Do you have your scan booked yet? Mine is Monday and every day feels like an eternity. I’m so anxious.

Donimo · 17/02/2022 20:45

Welcome everyone who has joined recently. And good luck for your upcoming scans.

Hope everyone else is alright.

We had our first fetal medicine appointment and scan today. All was good with the twins and measuring well. Also found out we are having identical twin girls! Husband is now completely out numbered (we already have a daughter)

Sarahk20000 · 17/02/2022 22:18

Hey guys I wanted to thank those of you who shared their pregnancy bleeding experiences with me and gave me advice. Unfortunately for me the bleeding got much worse with red clots etc so think I am definitely miscarrying. Not sure of next steps on whether to go to an EPU or my ivf clinic. Will look into it. Also debating when is soonest to do another transfer with our last remaining embryo or to take a break from it all. I will drop off this message thread. I really wish you all the best for your pregnancies and babies 💕

womaninkent · 17/02/2022 22:32

@Begoniagal7 I think 4+6. I have my scan on the 8th March. Good luck for your scan, it's such a tough wait!

womaninkent · 17/02/2022 22:33

@Sarahk20000 so sorry to hear this.

Holskey · 17/02/2022 23:15

@Sarahk20000 I'm so sorry 💐 wishing you the very best with whatever happens next for you xx

@Donimo sisters 🥰 how lovely. Congratulations!

@Etonmess20 hope you recover quickly. Yay to entering the third trimester. Pregnancy is so long!

@becarefuloutthere remind me, when are you due?

OP posts:
becarefuloutthere · 18/02/2022 09:17

@Holskey on Tuesday 😬

@Sarahk20000 so sorry to hear this! I wish you all the success for your last blast 🙏🏾

LemonyT · 18/02/2022 09:31

@Sarahk20000 I’m so sorry Sad wishing you all the best xx

Monday55 · 18/02/2022 09:53

@Sarahk20000 I'm very sorry to hear that. Flowers

@Holskey it's annoying when baby doesn't cooperate. At one point I had to wiggle my belly so they could get a clear view of the brain. But yesterday I could definitely tell the babys sex myself, I usually just see squibbles when I look at scan pics

Holskey · 18/02/2022 15:24

@Monday55 my baby was in a bad position to check the spine so I had to go for an entire walk with strict instructions to run up and down any stairs I may pass 😂 It worked though!

@becarefuloutthere oh wow! How exciting!

2mumlife · 21/02/2022 09:39

@TeddyTonks I'm very similar to you - NHS dating scan isn't until next Tuesday at 12+6. Enjoy you're break - we're also heading away just for 2 night next week after the scan 🤞🏼

@Monday55 Congrats on the 20 week scan!

@womaninkent The waits just get longer and more difficult! I still don't really beleive I'm pregnant, its still seems very....hypothetical...despite all the symptoms! Just hoping this 12 week scan goes well next week and maybe I can start to believe it more then.

@Etonmess20 Oh hope you're not feeling too rough

@Donimo Great to hear everything is going well with your babies!

Sarahk20000 Sorry to hear your news. Best of luck for the future x

womaninkent · 21/02/2022 10:16

Thanks @2mumlife. I always find it funny they insist on a dating scan after IVF when we know exactly when the babies were conceived. Good luck with it!

@womaninkent we've discussed this on the thread before. Many hospitals, including mine, don't care for your ivf dates at all and will base your due date on the dating scan. Mine was 4 days out last time and 2 days out this time 🤷‍♀️ Some ladies were allowed to keep their ivf dates though

OP posts:
womaninkent · 21/02/2022 12:30

@Holskey yes it's weird. Last time they insisted on changing my date by one day which ended up having quite a lot of consequences because it meant my DS was in their view term but on the real dates he was one day pre-term. Might not sound much but it made a huge difference in terms of the levels of support available and their expectations about his progress. I'm still annoyed now! If all goes well and we get to the dating scan I might make more of a fuss this time if they try to change dates.

Porridgeislife · 21/02/2022 12:52

My midwife was quite puzzled at the booking in appointment as I couldn’t tell her my last period as I honestly did not have one during 2021 due to back to back IVF and other procedures, but equally I was quite certain of my baby’s due date.

The NHS software doesn’t allow for IVF pregnancies so she had to manually work out what my cycle would be if we’d done things au naturale Blush

2mumlife · 21/02/2022 17:42

@womaninkent That's interesting as I've been measuring 1 day ahead of IVF dates on the 2 scans I had at fertility clinic.

Did anyone else's nausea come back when reducing progesterone/estradiol? I'm on day 5 of reducing meds, and I've felt awful again since last night. I really thought I was past the nausea thing.... Sad

Holskey · 21/02/2022 19:34

I hear you @womaninkent - I had obstetric cholestasis and guidelines for treating severe OC is to induce at 35 weeks, but I was 34+3 when I went in to begin the process because of the 4 days. Again, it may not make much difference but when your baby is early you want to make the risk of complications as low as possible.

@Porridgeislife if apps such as Flo etc can give you a due date based on transfer date and embryo age, it's daft that the NHS can't. IVF pregnancies are really not that unusual.

I didn't take progesterone, sorry @2mumlife (but didn't want to ignore you in post!)

RiverRiot · 21/02/2022 20:08

I was one of the ones that was allowed to keep my IVF dates but weirdly when I went for my 20wk scan (but was actually 21+5 or something cos my hospital likes to do it late 🤷🏻‍♀️) on the screen it said 20+4.

Naturally, I panicked and asked if that was because the baby was measuring behind or something and she was like “No that’s from your LMP so it’s what you would be if it wasn’t IVF but we keep your IVF dates”.

It was only when I got home that I realised I had my FET on about day 19ish of my cycle so technically had it been the ‘good old fashioned way’ I would have ovulated around day 14 which means that my dates should be the same regardless?! I mean, what is that even about? It’s all so odd. Hmm

@2mumlife I didn’t have any nausea come back but I did have a teensy bit of spotting but I think that’s because my clinic say to go cold turkey at 12 weeks. I think a few ladies have had the nausea make an unwelcome come back a few weeks after they thought they were done though so it might not necessarily be to do with the meds? Hopefully it buggers off again soon for you!

2mumlife · 22/02/2022 09:03

@RiverRiot Thanks :) Maybe it is just remnants of first trimester. My clinic seem a bit unusual as I started reducing at 12 weeks but wont fully come off until 13 weeks.

Its so weird with the IVF dates isn't it?

Donimo · 22/02/2022 16:47

@Sarahk20000 sorry to hear your update. Hope you are ok Flowers

@2mumlife my naesea/vomiting only became unmanageable when I came off all my IVF meds (but I came off them at 8-9 weeks so a little earlier). I stopped them and then a few days later ended up in hospital with HG. I think I get really affected by changes in medications/hormones though. Also I am expecting twins which all the obstetricians keep telling me that bad naesea/vomiting is to be expected be twins Sad

Cakecakecheese · 22/02/2022 21:55

I wish I'd known about the IVF date issues when I self referred as I would have put down a corresponding LMP date rather than my transfer date as I turned up to my booking appointment at 10 weeks to be told I was down as 7 weeks and had to put my foot down to get her to change it. I actually complained to PALS and a nice midwife team leader called me and was very understanding and said she'd speak to the team, although that doesn't help with the NHS software thing.

It's my 16 week midwife appointment next week, that's actually gone quite quickly compared to most of this pregnancy. We've also got a private scan booked next week as I'm hoping to get a nicer picture than my 12 week scan photo that looked like an alien infestation!
