and vests - just looking for some adavnce information from you experienced mums!

I've just washed all the newborn clothes (I'm due 11 January) to get the nasty chemicals out and am wondering if I'm really going to iron them all once I'm washing when the baby is here.

Is it shameful not to?

Oh when pregnant for the first time that was the thing to do, get all the tiny babygros out, wash them (in non bio and comfort pure of course) and iron them all then out them back in babies special drawer, then go in every day just to "look" at them.

Has to be done for PFB

Once baby is actually here having a clean babygro is enough.

Subsequent babies don't even have that.

JodieG1 · 19/12/2007 17:18

Never have and never will.

WanderingHolly · 19/12/2007 17:20

"iron" "babygro"

I don't understand how these two words fit in a sentence together.

MumtoCharlotteMay · 19/12/2007 17:22

Seriously lol? What's an iron?

I'll second what someone else said, I'm proud if I manage to get in the shower and get dressed during the day with 6mo dd!

LoveAngelGabriel · 19/12/2007 17:22

'Look nicer in the drawers' - DarthVader, that is one of the funniest things anyone has ever said on MN

ROTF LMFAOOOOOOOO

Sarahjct · 19/12/2007 17:26

I've ironed anything I'm taking into the hospital in case the MW's call social services because I'm a lazy slut!

Everything else is suitably creased though. I don't give a monkey's once LO is home!

Sarahjct · 19/12/2007 17:28

...I ironed the muslin squares as well...

JingleyJen · 19/12/2007 17:32

Hmm maybe in the minority but I iron everything except for knickers and socks.

missvicki · 19/12/2007 17:32

i ironed them, but mainly because they were easier and quicker to do than partners work shirts!!!!!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:33

ROFL at Camilla.

Actually I'm a little worried about the hospital ones. I DID iron them, pack them, and now they're creased! (Creepy, psychological music begins to play... )Perhaps I'll iron them a second time..

I iron them but then I am ridiculous. They are very quick to do though and they do feel softer afterwards.

Elfsmummy · 19/12/2007 17:37

I still do DDs and she's 20 months.
I love ironing - but hate all other house work.

And its the only way I can get her stuff to fit in the drawers

Elfsmummy · 19/12/2007 17:38

I should add that I also iron dish cloths so probablt not a sane person to offer an opinion on this!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:41

Dishcloths, Elfsmummy? I'm guessing you do your sheets aswell....

missvicki · 19/12/2007 17:42

Elfsmummy, please come and do my ironing i hate ironing with a passion and got about two weeks worth sat in my basket at the mo!!

Only did the baby bits because as i said above they were easier than the rest!

Elfsmummy · 19/12/2007 17:42

Yep - even fitted ones!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:47

Hats of to Elfsmummy - I now knwo my limits.

I bet you've got a really good way of folding fitted sheets too, haven't you?

Loveangel you would laugh even more if you saw what I badly kept house I have other than the immaculate ironing pile

ItCameUponAMidnightClara · 19/12/2007 18:52

when I was pg I washed and ironed everything - I even ironed muslin clothes. HA. HA. HA.

DS is lucky to get his clothes washed now.

But was nice to do in preparation for his arrival.

Don't know where the iron is now actually

what's an iron?

meepingaroundthechristmastree · 19/12/2007 19:19

I burned my bump with the iron when I was 36 weeks pregnant - I still have a scar - do not iron baby clothes - it is a safety hazard (if not just utter madness ) !!!!
