and vests - just looking for some adavnce information from you experienced mums!

I've just washed all the newborn clothes (I'm due 11 January) to get the nasty chemicals out and am wondering if I'm really going to iron them all once I'm washing when the baby is here.

Is it shameful not to?

When pregnant yes for the newborn - couple of weeks in, forget it, you will barely have time to pee never mind iron. Multiply by 7 once is your second or subsequent child. Now with 2 I very occassionally do if I am doing a basket of ironing (which is, in itself, rare) and I might throw on the odd nice outfitty one. And I am (was) ms anal even ironed my duvet covers pre-children.

Have to confess to sending stuff out for ironing now (our stuff) but don't like her to do babies stuff for some reason so he is just artfuly crumpled now. And anyway, nobody can see under the snow suits.

OMG NO!! But then I can't actually remember the last time I ironed anything at all .

Your post reminds me of a funny story: one of my friends had a visit from the health visitor while she was 39 weeks pregnant, and she asked my friend whether she had given any thought to what her 'ironing regime' would be once the DTs were born. Dear god...

Darth vader... about looking nicer in the drawer... my clothes go from the washing basket to machine to ironing pile then worn ( before ironing), drawers... do people still use those
Actually i would make better use of the drawers if i put the ironing that needed doing in them to rid our front room of the growing pile of ' ironing' lol

babylove -we're the same, the kids only turf their drawers out anyway so what's the point?
I do have a brill tumble dryer though and things generally come out lovely and soft and miraculously uncreased (therefore saving all that energy from the iron being on for hours).I've just washed up stuff for the new babe and just compared the hand me down stuff to the new purchases (moral -never give your newborn clothes away unless you have permanent contraception ) and thrown out anything which looked particularly grey or bobbly -I do have some standards!

babylove21 · 23/12/2007 21:30

hehehe Jamila, when is your baby due?
I have only a few items so far, and they are the only things in the house i have longed to wash!
if i had kept my son's newborn stuff my baby would be like an extra from dr who as its been 17 years since my last
