Rainbow Update

MrsMGE · 29/09/2021 20:53

Hi All,

It took me some time to post this, but I feel I need to say a big thank you to a number of ladies who have supported me in my journey to motherhood.

I was active on a number of chats on here back in 2019, particularly on the miscarriage board. I met some amazing people who have pulled me back up when I was at my lowest following the loss of my first baby. I went on to have another two miscarriages, then went through my local rainbow recurrent miscarriage clinic, had all sorts of tests and no answers. It was the hardest thing I've ever been through.

The amazing ladies who helped me went on to have their rainbow babies and I was still waiting for mine. Then I took a break, from TTC and in general, from stuff.

And now I could not be happier to say that I am writing this cuddling my two month old son. My heart is full and my arms are full. The wait is over. He is absolutely perfect.

In the most annoying of ways, it just happened. The phrase every woman suffering after baby loss hates so much - I know it all too well. My fourth pregnancy happened unexpectedly and progressed fine, with some complications, nothing out of ordinary.

I am writing this because I need to thank those of you who stood by me and lifted me up, cheered on me, read my posts when I was pouring my broken heart out and there weren't many people IRL who listened, and even less of them who truly understood. I will never forget what you've done for me. I don't know if you'll ever read this or if you're still active on this website, but I hope one day this message of thanks will reach you. I hope you and your little ones are doing well.

Sending lots and lots of love to @SunStruck @Catconfusion @Avocuddles @Kiki061190 and ladies from our threads at the time.

And to those of you still waiting, if anyone reads this - don't give up. It's so, so hard and it can feel like this journey has no end. But you are not alone and this amazing community will carry you through all the way till you find your peace, whatever this may take.

Love,
Mrs MGE & baby MGE xxx

Congratulations everyone 😊 I have a 14 month old son and I had an early miscarriage in February this year, about which I posted on mumsnet at the time under a different user name.

It was heart-breaking.

I was lucky to fall pregnant again in June and I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant with a girl.

I'm still nervous everyday, anxiety never leaves you after a loss.

So happy to hear that so many women on this thread got their rainbow baby. xx

Catconfusion · 24/10/2021 08:04

@Cruiser123 massive congratulations. Your situation seems very similar to mine. I had 3 losses after our son. It’s so hard being pregnant after loss. I’m 42 so we knew we didn’t have long for it to happen so it’s so exciting to complete our family. I suffer with a lot of anxiety too but it’s getting a bit easier as I get further in. Just can’t wait for her to be here now. Xx

Cruiser123 · 24/10/2021 14:07

@Catconfusion

Thanks, congratulations to you as well. Don't worry, everything will be fine. When I had my son, there were many women in their early forties in the hospital giving birth.

Do you already know if you're having a boy or girl? xx

Cruiser123 · 24/10/2021 14:09

@Catconfusion

Sorry, I`ve just seen you said it was a girl.

That's nice to have one boy and one girl 😊xx

SunStruck · 24/10/2021 14:23

@Catconfusion I'm so happy for you, how sweet with a little girl 😭exciting times ahead xx

Catconfusion · 25/10/2021 06:34

Aww thank you @SunStruck we’re so pleased. It is very exciting. It makes the difficulties with pregnancy worthwhile. Xx

Catconfusion · 25/10/2021 06:34

Thanks @Cruiser123 I think there is something special about having one of each. It’s also lovely to have two the same sex for different reasons. It still hasn’t completely sunk in! Xx

SunStruck · 03/11/2021 01:32

@Catconfusion so lovely :) how are you feeling now? How many months between your children?

I have something to tell you guys... I just tested positive this morning!!! I'm honestly shocked as we just started 'not trying but not preventing' in October (I have started to take Ovaboost and vitamins as we wanted to start trying for real in the new year). Supposed to go in to check FS and insulin levels when my next period starts so we're all good to go in Jan 😅

And instantly all the old anxieties hit me, questioning that the line isn't dark enough yada yada... not looking forward to feeling this way/questioning everything again 😳 I just think it's most likely going to be mc. Going to go fir a hcg test today and see if the level is ok.

Catconfusion · 04/11/2021 09:53

Hey @SunStruck I’m feeling lots better now. 19 weeks today and getting lots of movement so fingers crossed.

Wow, tentative congratulations! It’s so hard in those early days. My first pregnant after my ds I got a bit too invested early on and it didn’t work out. I was really upset. I think it’s best just to keep an open mind. You have a good chance it’ll work out and equally it might not. It’s a great sign you fell so quickly what ever the outcome. I’ll keep everything crossed for you. Let me know how it’s going. Xx

SunStruck · 04/11/2021 11:53

@Catconfusion thanks! I went for the hcg test yday and the value was normal for this stage of pregnancy, I'll go for one more on Saturday to check if it's doubled.

So exciting with movements! Isn't that quite early for movement?? Great news and relieving when you feel it. Did you have a NIPT test this time? If yes at how many weeks?

I'm going for the panorama test for sure if this one sticks at 9 weeks.

Catconfusion · 04/11/2021 14:01

@sunstruck that’s great news. So glad it’s looking good. Hopefully your numbers will have doubled.

I’ve been having movements since 14 weeks. I have a posterior placenta this time and being a second baby you can usually feel it earlier. Some weeks have been quieter than others depending on baby’s position. I’m beginning to get a pattern now so it’s lovely to have so much reassurance.

We didn’t have the NIPT but had the combined test which came back low chance for chromosomal abnormalities. I have high Papp A which is a good indication of a healthy pregnancy. It’s certainly worth having the NIPT to get some reassurance earlier. I think you can have it at 10 weeks.

Let me know how you get on. Xx

VenusStarr · 04/11/2021 16:54

Lovely news @MrsMGE 💙 I'm so happy for you.

Good to see positive updates from @Catconfusion (I'm sorry for your losses before this pregnancy) and @SunStruck 😍

I'm still waiting for our rainbow, had my 5th loss earlier in the Summer, but I'm pleased to say I am 5 weeks pregnant after a frozen embryo transfer last month. I'm on a full immune protocol and under a specialist recurrent miscarriage doctor, so I am feeling hopeful.

Lots of love to everyone xx

SunStruck · 04/11/2021 17:00

@VenusStarr oh so lovely to hear from you! I was thinking and wondering about you actually. I'm sorry to hear about your losses but elated you're pregnant through IVF 🥰🥰🥰 definitely very hopeful when you know it's a good quality embryo and getting specialist help! When is your first scan?

VenusStarr · 04/11/2021 17:04

Thank you @SunStruck 🥰 first scan is next Friday, I'll be 6+2 then. We've never had a good scan, hoping this is the one 🌈

MrsMGE · 04/11/2021 17:10

Oh dear! Mumsnet decided not to send me any notifications! Glad I've randomly decided to log in and read your updates 😊 Fantastic news from all! Many congratulations @Catconfusion, beautiful news. @Sunstruck and @VenusStarr I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. @VenusStarr this sounds hellish, I remember very well how hard it is to be dealt with a blow after blow and to question if you're ever going to hold your child in your arms. It's traumatising. It still feels raw to me and I think years of feeling this way have made me feel very fragile, even now. I can't tell you how much I wish for positive news for you! Flowers Please drop in with your updates.

I definitely feel like I should be getting on with things sooner now! It took over 2.5 years for my son to finally arrive, I can't believe how many of you are now expecting again and I've only just had my happy ending. Well, hopefully it's not the end for me yet either, but I'm very, very cautious when it comes to my own hopes after all this. xxx

@SunStruck I had Panorama at 10-ish weeks following our old discussion, actually. I felt a lot more knowledgeable in my last pregnancy than ever before and that's very much thanks to chatting to you and the other ladies on here. Truly invaluable. xxx

@VenusStarr awww that’s great news. Good luck with your scan. Fingers crossed it all works out for you. Xx

Catconfusion · 04/11/2021 20:10

Thank you @MrsMGE you have time and I know it must be scary after everything you’ve been through but I have a feeling you’ll be expecting number 2 before long. Pregnancy loss changes your life and ttc is never the same. Being pregnant is filled with worry and anxiety. I say this as someone who got lucky within 6 months both times but with 5 losses. I can’t imagine how it feels after spending 2.5 years trying and having losses too. If must be scary embarking on that journey again. You’ve got this though and you’ll do great when the time comes. Hopefully it’ll be much easier next time for you. I really hope you don’t have to go through anything like it again. Xx

SunStruck · 06/11/2021 16:12

@VenusStarr I'm keeping everything crossed for you!! 🥰🥰🥰 I'm sure it will be positive this time, you're in quite a protocol!

@MrsMGE I am certain you will have another, you know you can have one now! And I think the TTC next time around will so much more relaxed as we know what can happen and will
Be more reserved, but at the same time we already have an amazing child so it's less at stake... that's how I feel!

@Catconfusion HCG 75% higher than 3 days ago (normal is doubling every 2-3 days) - so far so good 🤞

Catconfusion · 07/11/2021 09:07

@SunStruck that’s amazing news. How lovely to get that reassurance. You’ve always had such a good attitude so I’m sure you’ll get through these difficult early days. Hoping this is the one! Xx

VenusStarr · 13/11/2021 06:55

Hi everyone, a confusing and inconclusive update from me. You think after 5 failed pregnancies I'd be used to it by now.

Had my scan at my ivf clinic, they said it's a failing pregnancy, sac was measured at 7+1 but looked empty. They could see 'something' maybe membranes but 2 doctors said sorry, it's not good. Got a letter for the epu and went straight there.

Spent all afternoon at epu. Had a rescan and they found a 5mm foetal pole and cardiac activity (first time we've seen a heartbeat) but, they couldn't easily visualise a yolk sac, so are very cautious. They thought they got it at one point but really struggled. 4 nurses were at the end of the bed at one point all saying we can see the heartbeat. They put me at 6 weeks. The one doing the scan said as I've got a retroverted uterus it was really difficult to see. I was on a cushion there, but the ivf clinic didn't put me on one.

Back for a rescan on 22 November. Hope you're all OK @MrsMGE @Catconfusion @SunStruck x

VenusStarr · 13/11/2021 06:56

Ps I was 6+2 yesterday by my ivf dates, so within the parameters x

SunStruck · 13/11/2021 17:18

Oh I am so sorry to hear this @VenusStarr , what a worrying time! 😞😞 was the scan transvaginal? To be honest it is great news they heard heartbeat at 6 weeks is SO early! With a tilted uterus it would be super hard to see anything anyway, let alone with a tiled uterus. I am keeping everything crossed for you ❤️

My scan is on the 21st. Fingers crossed for us both!

Catconfusion · 14/11/2021 10:41

Oh @VenusStarr how confusing for you. It sounds like the EPAU is the diagnosis to go with. They’ve seen a good heartbeat at 6 plus which is excellent news. I have a retroverted uterus but I’ve never had problems with scans. The equipment they use is very accurate and detailed. I don’t quite understand how a baby can have a heartbeat without a yolk sac. Surely it must be there. Maybe baby is just in a very awkward position. Will the IVF clinic rescan you? Hopefully as baby gets bigger they’ll be able to see more. I’ve got everything crossed this one works out for you. Xx
