Weird things pregnancy has done to your body?

Hi,

39 weeks pregnant and more than fed up. Seeking lighthearted topic to pass some time!
I'm wondering what weird things pregnancy has done to your body? For me, the first one is that my hair on my legs stopped growing completely. (Delighted about it but still weird!) My hair and nails are growing super fast.

Anyone else got weird things happening?

My leg hair did that too! Also did terrible things to my teeth

SheABitSpicyToday · 18/08/2021 11:04

I have chin hair now.

lockdownbabyx · 18/08/2021 11:05

@Ava50x oh I'm so jealous, I wish the hair on my legs would stop growing 😂. I'm hairier if anything, hairy belly also! Which is wonderful 🤦🏻‍♀️

TooManyAnimals94 · 18/08/2021 11:09

I expected my feet to swell and they have not disappointed, but my hands have too! I have massive gorilla knuckles and can't wear rings ...or take my existing rings off 😂
Also, my belly makes REALLY loud noises. For example, if I drink a glass of water I can literally hear it's gurgly journey all the way down. It woke me up the other day 🙄

Ava50x · 18/08/2021 11:50

@lockdownbabyx yes it really is great, i'm not looking forward to returning to the waxing and all!!

The hair stopped grow on my legs as well. I got bald patches on my head. Also, I kept my increase in sense of smell, it's become a weird super ability my husband jokes about.

Thefaceofboe · 18/08/2021 11:56

33 weeks almost and my hair is AWFUL. Frizzy on top and started to snap off Sad I always thought your hair and nails improved during pregnancy! Also ridiculously veiny chest to the point I look green all over!

expectinglittlebear · 18/08/2021 11:58

The hair on my legs has slowed down hugely on growth rate too, I can't remember the last time I shaved my legs! But then hair growing ridiculously quick on other parts - my stomach under my belly button and my chin...(!) weird!

Teeth also, brushing them 3x a day, mouthwash 2x a day and flossing 1-2 times a day, not drinking any tea or coffee, and barely having an sugary drinks, and yet they still seem to be looking worse!!

Another thing is my eyesight, I wear glasses anyway but they have been so much blurrier since being pregnant - feels like I need to majorly change prescription but been advised not to as apparently its a common side effect of pregnancy? Who knew!

My belly button ring was a bit wonky when it was done. After a good stomach-stretching pregnancy it is now straight!

Pitstop1986 · 18/08/2021 16:06

Blue veins all over my body! Looks almost like my skin is translucent!

idontlikealdi · 18/08/2021 16:13

My nose got bigger.

ronswansonstache · 18/08/2021 16:17

DD is 11 months old and my hair is killing me right now! So much frizzy baby hair. I have fluffy sideburns and a permanent halo of frizz.

Post-birth hair loss growing back in apparently. I never knew about it and it's honestly annoying me more than the weight gain and stretch marks.

Be prepared for your hair to look shit for about a year!

I also have no leg hair! But the hair on my head, eyelashes and hair on my face has stopped falling out so fast, so has become longer and thicker. I’m fine with it for my head and eyelashes, less thrilled about the need to shave my newly furry face Angry My hair has also become incredibly dry. I worked out it’s because my head no longer sweats anything like as much, so there’s no natural oil to keep the hair in good condition. But it’s not just my head - my back no longer sweats either! I’ve had to moisturise it loads when normally I’d never moisturise my back. So weird. All of these symptoms started very early in the pregnancy too. On the plus side, I have the traditional glowing skin on my face which I’m enjoying!

HungryHippo11 · 18/08/2021 17:15

My hair also grew quickly and thicker than usually (i have very fine thin hair).
Unfortunately it then all fell out at about 5 months PP leaving me literally with bald patches. It did grow back, but less than I had before pregnancy.

I also had a hairy belly during pregnancy with my OH thought was hilarious.

I am a lucky one who has had much lighter periods postpartum, although may b because I'm still breastfeeding

Antsinyourpanta · 18/08/2021 17:19

A long time since I was pregnant but my legs got skinnier (possibly as I wasnt running or cycling in the last trimester) They chunked back up again afterwards when I resumed exercise though. Hmm

HungryHippo11 · 18/08/2021 17:23

@idontlikealdi

My nose got bigger.
Mine too. My parents didn't believe me, I had to show them before and after pictures!
vincettenoir · 18/08/2021 17:36

I’ve got chloasma on my face.

Fizbosshoes · 18/08/2021 17:39

I'm really short. When I was 22 a much older lady told me she grew 2" taller after having kids. It seemed unlikely but I desperately wanted it to be true for me Blush ....so I held on to that thought dream for another 6 years and hoped it would happen to me. It didnt. I probably just ended up 2" fatter

FairFuming · 18/08/2021 17:40

The hair in my head went dark. I was always blonde but now I have dark reddish brown hair. My eyebrows and eyelashes however have remained super blonde and invisible

SillyBry · 18/08/2021 18:00

Snoring. I can hear myself snoring in my sleep. I never have this issue when not pregnant!!!

GingerBeverage · 18/08/2021 18:08

Same. Hate it. Get car sick now when I didn't used to as well. Hair went wavy.
Bennetgirl · 18/08/2021 18:35

I'm 27 weeks and have just realised I haven't had to shave my legs for ages 😂 How strange!

This is my fourth and it still baffles me that there's an actual baby in there that will come out crying!

thelessiknow · 18/08/2021 19:37

I’m also 39 weeks today OP!

I’ve had horribly sensitive skin and much worse eczema than usual. My eyebrows fell out loads in the second trimester (thankfully they grew back…). And I have a strawberry birthmark which has been flat my entire life which has swelled up (presume due to increased blood flow because I think it’s technically a blood vessel). Pregnancy is wonderful!!

YouMeandtheSpew · 18/08/2021 20:09

I’ve got these weird variscosities in my groin area - round ligament variscosities they’re called. Harmless as far as I know but soo ugly.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/08/2021 20:14

I developed an intolerance to tea. I still can't drink it and she's 8 years old.
