Weird things pregnancy has done to your body?

Hi,

39 weeks pregnant and more than fed up. Seeking lighthearted topic to pass some time!
I'm wondering what weird things pregnancy has done to your body? For me, the first one is that my hair on my legs stopped growing completely. (Delighted about it but still weird!) My hair and nails are growing super fast.

Anyone else got weird things happening?

I've not been pregnant for 17 years but one wierd effect was my feet grew a full shoe size with each pregnancy.

elliejjtiny · 18/08/2021 20:24

I had awful morning sickness and there are a few foods that used to trigger it that I still can't face eating. It's been 7 years since my last pregnancy.

BlusteryLake · 18/08/2021 20:31

Put paid to my hay-fever. I was dreading summer when pregnant and unable to take my usual anti histamines. The hay fever never came that year, and hasn't been back since. That pregnancy was 14 years ago!

@Aroundtheworldin80moves I only ever used to drink tea before becoming pregnant and ive not had it for the last 5 months. Im really hoping once baby is born I feel like drinking it again!!

So far ive developed skin tags in my armpits. What the hell is that all about?!

dchange · 18/08/2021 20:34

Destroyed my teeth!!!! Did not notice much during first pregnancy. But post second pregnancy I had a gap and my tooth shifted.

Greytminds · 18/08/2021 20:37

@idontlikealdi

My nose got bigger.
I was looking at my own image on a video call today and thinking my nose looked bigger!

I am feeling so swollen. I remember after my DDs birth sweating so much every night for a week as all the excess fluid made it’s way out. That first week post baby I just felt like a human puddle - leaking breast milk, post-partum bleeding and sweating. It’s so bloody grim!

I also can’t move without burping.

TinyTroubleMaker · 18/08/2021 20:40

My feet grew half a size and never went back. So didn't fit into all the lovely pre pregnancy shoes I had.

DisgruntledPelican · 18/08/2021 20:43

My eyes went funny and I needed reading glasses for the first time (I was 34). I’m also generally achier in all my joints, although that might be because I exercise much less than I used to Sad

I was worried about my feet or nose changing as I’d read a load of mumsnet posts about that!

With my first pregnancy I got leg cramps (calf muscles) so bad at night they would be bruised the following morning. I would wake up crying with the pain!

With my second I had a weird patch of hair missing from one of my eyebrows.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 18/08/2021 20:46

Can’t feel my stomach around my c section scar.
No one told me about the aching and sweating for months after birth
Other than that all peachy Confused

Suzysuz · 18/08/2021 20:51

@Flutterby8 Yes the skin tags! I got quite a few in random places unfortunately.... still annoy me now and will look to see if I can get some removed 🙈

FTEngineerM · 18/08/2021 20:54

@ronswansonstache

DD is 11 months old and my hair is killing me right now! So much frizzy baby hair. I have fluffy sideburns and a permanent halo of frizz.

Post-birth hair loss growing back in apparently. I never knew about it and it's honestly annoying me more than the weight gain and stretch marks.

Be prepared for your hair to look shit for about a year!

Oh my god this!

People talk about it falling out but fuck me when it grows back it looks horrendous. I look like Mr Spok when I put my hair up in a ponytail all the fuzz flops forward

Helporhindrance07 · 18/08/2021 20:59

Sooo many skin tags! And even more now I’m pregnant again! My hands grew and my wedding ring doesn’t fit any more Blush never went back after I gave birth either. I have a hairy belly and for some reason my gel nails chip and lift after just a few days, so I’m guessing my nails have gotten more oily or something?! I gained a dress size on top and bottom yet stayed the same weight, I think my rib cage got wider (not a surprise as my first was over 9lb!)

Dizzy1234 · 18/08/2021 21:01

Ooh I had a sticky out belly button from birth, horrible looking thing, wouldn't wear a bikini in my younger days.
After I gave birth that bad boy popped back in, now I have an inny rather than an outy 😁

jamsandwich1 · 18/08/2021 21:01

Yes also noticed leg hair stopped growing and (TMI) usually have a couple of spots on my bum and both times have had a lovely smooth bum 😂

ajja2021 · 18/08/2021 21:02

Hairy chin

romdowa · 18/08/2021 21:08

My feet have grown have a size 🤣🤣 I also now tan really easily and my eye sight has gone shocking.

MrsBellamy · 18/08/2021 21:12

I had a small tattoo at the side of my tummy of 2 hearts with a vine thing going through them.
Since pregnancy a stretch mark going through the bottom part of the vine making it look like a circumcised penis.

sar302 · 18/08/2021 21:20
  • Killed off my verucca!
  • Made my nails amazing
  • Heightened my sense of smell, which never left, which is more curse than blessing.
  • Gave me a hairy line on my stomach. That hasn't gone away either Hmm My waxer casually waxed it for me the other day....
Hirewiredays · 18/08/2021 21:25

My teeth have moved, less arm hair, achy, now need glasses, gums receding.

pocketfullofstorms · 18/08/2021 21:29

OMG yes the smooth bum! Thought I was just mad Grin
zeddybrek · 18/08/2021 21:31

Made my nose bigger!

makingababy · 18/08/2021 21:33

Legs were much less hairy while pregnant. Also didn’t have any hay fever and my lifelong chronic eczema disappeared Grin

3boysNeedABiggerKitchen · 18/08/2021 21:39

Ah yes, pregnancy. My gifts were:
Piles
Tattoo moved due to skin stretch
Can no longer stomach red wine
Gum disease
Permanent knackered ever since (15 years on from no1)

mswales · 18/08/2021 21:47

Nipple vasospasm. So painful!
