Thinking about ttc for a June baby. Even May would be acceptable. Don’t want any July-Oct birthday, ideally. I am well aware that nature can have other plans!

Did you try for a specific timing? Did it work out?

I'm currently 15 weeks - we marry in August and aimed for a second trimester wedding. Worked first time!

Raindropumbrella · 04/06/2021 13:07

Why are you hoping for May/June only?

Moonshine11 · 04/06/2021 13:09

Interested to know why specific months

Goostacean · 04/06/2021 13:09

I don’t want a late summer born ideally, for schooling, and my eldest will start school next Sept so don’t want to disrupt them entirely through new school, new sibling, all hitting at once. It’s a fantasy wish list, for sure!

(And we’re not ttc yet, so earliest realistically would be April anyway!)

yes and yes.

timeisnotaline · 04/06/2021 13:13

Are you fairly young? Obviously this only works if you can get pregnant within a month or two, and the chances of that decrease as you get older.

Morred · 04/06/2021 13:15

I wanted an autumn/winter baby (ideally) and I came off the pill early October and we had a couple of months "letting things happen naturally" and then December/January I started tracking ovulation and trying to time things. DS was born in October!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/06/2021 13:15

Yes. We tried for a September 2019 baby (teacher so it is a good time for us). Had a chemical pregnancy. TTC for a year after that and conceived DD2 who was born September 2020.

So yes we planned TTC around a birth month to begin with and then decided we didn’t care when DC2 was born and happened to conceive the month we originally planned but a year later.

Sideofnoreturn · 04/06/2021 13:17

We did - wanted an October/November baby and got one, conceived second month ttc. I wanted a specific age gap and also not a summer baby.

alanrickmanspetcat · 04/06/2021 13:17

We wanted July - Oct latest. Ideally August

Got pregnant immediately and tbh is far too close for my liking

All NI school related

Due on the 15th. Cannot come before the 2nd Grin

Guarantee baby will be here last week in June Hmm

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 04/06/2021 13:17

Yes. We can only really have babies between September- February due to the nature of husband’s work.
We were insanely lucky to conceive all three the first cycle of trying which meant we were able to chose the months they were going to be born.

Pinkflipflop85 · 04/06/2021 13:18

Tried to, but after 18 months of ttc we were just incredibly grateful to get pregnant.

Treezan82 · 04/06/2021 13:23

Haha no. First took 18 months to conceive and 2nd was first try. You just can't predict these things. I think before I started trying for a baby the first time I did consider when the baby would be born but I learned pretty quickly that if you want a baby, you want a baby whenever it is born.

Treezan82 · 04/06/2021 13:25

Also, both of mine born in August and doing very well academically so don't worry too much about the school year thing!

eurochick · 04/06/2021 13:29

Tried to - it didn't work.

We postponed starting ttc by a month to avoid an august baby. Three years later and after much prodding and poking and multiple ivf rounds I finally got pregnant - with a baby due late august. 🤷‍♀️

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 13:29

Ideally I wouldn’t have liked to have been heavily pregnant over summer... but we didn’t know how things would work out so started trying on the assumption it would take a few months at least, so I had thought maybe we’d have a winter baby. Anyway we got pregnant first try and due in August! If I’d thought it would have happened quickly I’d have not tried until this year but you never know how things will work out.

Hope the timings work for you 😊

andivfmakes3 · 04/06/2021 13:30

I love the optimism and forward planning OP 🤣

I was like this when I started TTC.....

......Then I lost 7 babies and couldn't have cared less what time of year they were born so long as I actually got to bring my baby home

Gardenwalldilema · 04/06/2021 13:30

I wanted October babies, and I was lucky enough to get 2.

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 13:35

My mum, now in her 70s, is still bitter about having an early January birthday (joint presents, no one wants a party) so we delayed TTC until that possibility had passed. DS1 was born in March and DS2 May.

stargirl1701 · 04/06/2021 13:35

I wanted summer babies but the only month we abstained was March as I definitely did not want a Dec baby.

DD1 was early Sep and DD2 was mid Aug so I was delighted.

romdowa · 04/06/2021 13:40

We presumed that it would take ages to conceive because I've chronic illnesses , so we started on a whim and ended up getting it first time 🤣🤣 I really wanted to avoid being pregnant in the summer but it didn't work out that way .

Frezia · 04/06/2021 13:41

It worked for us twice, we were incredibly lucky.

TheCheeseBadge · 04/06/2021 13:44

When starting our 6th round of fertility treatment (no fertility issues but a same sex couple so went down the clinic route for donor sperm) we realised that if that cycle was successful we'd potentially have a Christmas baby. We decided not to delay, because frankly we were on round 6 and none of the others had worked, so this one might not work either. Of course that was the one that worked. Due date was Christmas day!

MissingTheMoonlight · 04/06/2021 13:44

I just wanted a baby so didn't care when! Having had a November baby and worrying about cold nights, I'd be keen for a March/April baby next time. However, will be happy regardless as want another ASAP for a small age gap.
