Same here @AdventuresAwait this anterior placenta is a pain! I’m interested to see if they say it’s moved at all when I have my 20 week scan as I’ve read it can.

Maybebaby29 · 06/04/2021 19:59

I’m the same as some of you ladies! Worried about not feeling movement for a few days then today he’s been fine. Also my bump seems to have disappeared! Then I feel like he can feel my stress and worry 🙈 I’ve also been inspecting my ultrasound photos today and his chin doesn’t really look there now I’m freaking out he hasn’t got a chin 😣🙈 I feel like I’m going mad! Waited such a long time to fall pregnant and stay pregnant I’m worrying about everything!
I’m 17 weeks today, my scan feels such a long time away (28th of April)
Finally had my risk assessment at work the other day and they recommended I stop working at 28 weeks which they’ll pay me for until I start my maternity which suits me fine 🙈 knowing my luck they’ll change their mind closer to the time!
Has anyone had any luck finding comfy maternity jeans that stay up? I’ve had some from H&M they seem too long and seem to be always falling down!

SP2Bx · 06/04/2021 20:11

@Mamabearwhere 2 hours?! That's crazy! With the midwife at the GP surgery I'm in and out in 10 minutes which makes it feel even more pointless! Hospital has been pretty quick too in fairness!

Also my GAP pjs arrived today too and wow, great recommendation @Poppins2016 !!

Did you ladies find out about your anterior placentas at your 12 week scans? I asked the midwife today when I'd expect to feel things and she said with it being first baby it could be 22 weeks!! 😭 Feels aaaaaages away!

SP2Bx · 06/04/2021 20:14

@Maybebaby29 That's great news about work! I'd love that 🙈 I'm hoping to use holiday to finish at the end of Aug all being well!

Mamabearwhere · 06/04/2021 20:17

@Maybebaby29 no luck with mat jeans for me yet, I made a huge order from various shops and they’ve all been pretty horrendous either too baggy on the legs or they keep sliding down or the over the bump bit is too tight and suffocating. If anyone finds some great ones please do share!!

AdventuresAwait · 06/04/2021 20:32

@Maybebaby29 & @Mamabearwhere - I got some jeans from different places and my favourites are from Dorothy Perkins. Good fit and comfy.

My GAP items arrived too and I love them. Another thanks to @Poppins2016!!

@SP2Bx, re. the anterior placenta, it was mentioned at my 8 week private scan. Not mentioned at my 12 week scan (but nothing much was said at all!). I asked at my 17 week private gender scan last week & the sonographer confirmed it was anterior but not covering the cervix at all.

SP2Bx · 06/04/2021 20:36

@AdventuresAwait Oh so without a private scan there's a chance you wouldn't know?! To be fair, our sonographer was lovely and very chatty at the 12 week scan so I feel like she'd have said unless they aren't meant to? I'm going to ask for certain at the 20 week one if I haven't felt any movement by then!!!

AdventuresAwait · 06/04/2021 20:54

@SP2Bx, no I wouldn't have known but your 12 week scan sounds different to mine as I wasn't given much information. It's my first so I don't know but I imagine the 20 week scan will be more detailed so I think placenta location will be explained then?

Taybz · 06/04/2021 22:58

@Maybebaby29 I would highly recommend mamalicious jeans. I bought them from ASOS but they're sold in many other places. They are incredibly comfortable and the bump part is so soft and stretchy without falling down. Btw I'm also 17weeks today! Are you do on the 14th Sept?

Taybz · 06/04/2021 23:06

Re: anterior placenta, I just discovered on my gender scan notes that it said that my 'placenta is at anterior' but the sonographer didn't mention this to me nor did the NHS one on my 12 week scan. Should I be worried? I can't seem to find anything on Dr Google that suggests it's worrying but I've read some threads here on MM where other mums-to-be were stressed about it.

FTEngineerM · 07/04/2021 07:23

@Taybz no I had one last pregnancy. The placenta grows from wherever the egg implants in your womb that’s all so can be anywhere really.

Does it say on your 12 week scan sheet from the sonographer in your notes? I will check mine in a little bit when I’ve come round.

CherylLW · 07/04/2021 09:34

@Mamabearwhere @Maybebaby29 I’ve got two pairs of jeans from New Look and they are quite good, they are lift and shape ones... the bump part is still a little loose but they are comfy.

@SP2Bx I was told at my 12 week scan about my anterior placenta, she just mentioned it really but didn’t go into it and then I was Googling when I got home!

@Taybz apparently over 50% of pregnant ladies have anterior placenta and it’s completely normal. I think the only trouble is if the placenta drops too low and it’s over or too close to your cervix.. I’m sure that’s what I’ve read.
They said with an anterior placenta it may take a while longer to feel movements as the baby is behind your stomach and the placenta. It can also be harder to get used to your baby’s normal movement pattern later down the line but I guess we will just get used to what’s normal for us and our anterior placenta babies.

It’s my 20 week scan next Friday so I’m going to ask a bit more then too. I have also heard that the placenta can move up which is fine also.

Bubbles1st · 07/04/2021 10:22

I just wanted to mention that I have a posterior placenta, I only know this because is was on my 12 weeks scan form, although the sonographer didn't mention it.

Even with my placenta at the back and baby at the front I still haven't felt anything concrete and I'm 17+5 unfortunately! However at my private scan this week he was face down and bum up so legs were facing down towards cervix and I have had a few twinges in groin which can be Misdirected movement apparently. So if you've had any recent fanny daggers...

I do have a higher bmi which can make movement be felt later though so maybe that's contributing.

He is definitely shaking it all about in there on his scans.

bewitchingnight · 07/04/2021 10:25

18 weeks today and I've been sick for the first time ever! I feel cheated out of my run of good luck. Had really constant nausea until about 15 weeks and felt ok until this morning.

I'm also finding maternity clothes really hit and miss, it's really hard to guess sizing online. I've got some over the bump jeans from H&M which are comfy and one summery skirt from ASOS (ordered before the snow!) I'm tempted by all these gap pj recommendations!

unicornpower · 07/04/2021 10:39

wow more little boys! I'm so jealous of all you girls finding out the sex, its making me want to book a scan but DH wants to wait until 20 weeks so i might just have to comply as we did have 4 scans by 12 weeks haha

I'm another around 16 weeks, I'm 16+2 today and the anxiety is starting to creep in again! my 20 week scan seems ages away, i cant wait to see baby again.

Is anyone else struggling with headaches? i keep getting them and paracetamol just doesn't always cut it, I'll mention it to the midwife next week and see what she says

AdventuresAwait · 07/04/2021 10:55

@Bubbles1st, my baby was also feet down on my scan last week and I had some fanny daggers last night!! Could that be movement??
I also have a higher BMI.

@unicornpower, I have had headaches until this week. Used coolstrips which helped a bit but unfortunately just had to lay down in a dark room and sleep it off. They were horrible but I do usually suffer from migraines.

deedeebythesea · 07/04/2021 11:05

Girls I feel like a right idiot. Just cannot stop thinking something has gone wrong between 12w scan and now. Thankfully, there have been no drastic symptoms indicating that something is actually wrong. It is all in my head. Apart from A LOT of discomfort, including sharp pain between and below my ribs. Not felt any movements/flutters/bubbles yet. I should have booked a private scan after I didn't get to hear baby's heartbeat at 16w appt. Now I am massively regretting not doing so. 20w scan is next Wednesday, so not long to wait but I am just not able to relax.
Has any of you skipped private scans between 12w and 20w? How were/are you keeping sane? Feeling so so down today...

Bubbles1st · 07/04/2021 11:09

@AdventuresAwait I read somewhere that it could be but I honestly can't remember if it was about later stages of pregnancy or this early.

Either way it made me feel better and makes sense to me!

So until I feel kicks anywhere else I'm sticking with it 🤣

deedeebythesea · 07/04/2021 11:10

On a completely different note, is anyone in the group learning how to drive? 🤣 My test has been cancelled three times due to lockdowns. I have booked another one now, but feel like I need to take a couple of refresher lesson with my instructor first. Such poor timing but has to be done!

AdventuresAwait · 07/04/2021 11:13

@Bubbles1st, I'm with you!! 🤣

@deedeebythesea, no but I promised myself I'd learn before baby was born... Still haven't started. But not sure I could wear a mask for so long in the lessons. I gag when I have to wear one for long. Hope this test happens and goes well for you!

deedeebythesea · 07/04/2021 11:30

@AdventuresAwait there is a lot of pressure for me to pass quickly as we are hoping to move out of town and into the countryside before baba is here. I will be honest I am not very good (parking is a nightmare) but somehow rather confident on the road. Fingers crossed I will manage to get it over with asap

bewitchingnight · 07/04/2021 12:02

@unicornpower yes, from about 16 weeks I had maybe two weeks of headaches but have passed now. I asked my midwife at the 16 week appointment but she said nothing to worry about unless they don't improve after painkillers etc.

AdventuresAwait · 07/04/2021 12:20

Public transport isn't great where we are either @deedeebythesea so I was determined to learn beforehand so I can go out by myself and see my sister (who I can't get to without driving) but I am just too nervous so procrastinating I think 😕 but will regret it I'm sure.

Wishing you all the best for your test! Do you have long to wait? Xx

Kirky658 · 07/04/2021 12:31

@deedeebythesea to be honest I am 17 weeks now so 3 weeks today till my 20 week scan and to be fair I'm a wreck. I'm so terrified that the 20 week scan will show something bad. My mental health isn't in a good place at the moment. So you're not alone. Just trying to stay as sane as I can x

Squibble84 · 07/04/2021 12:42

@deedeebythesea I haven’t heard heartbeat or had scan since the 12 week scan and it is a very long, anxious wait! I’m worried about my low Papp-a and the fact that I had heavy bleeding for a week in the first trimester; because they told me I was miscarrying again, I had a couple of long, hot baths and some wine so I’m anxious for the 20 week scan to show the baby has developed normally!

It’s the longest wait you’ll have though, after the 20 week scan, you’ll have midwife appoints every 4 weeks I think where you’ll get to hear the baby’s heartbeat.
