Is it ever close?!

Not even remotely close. I had sooooo many scans (I was very closely monitored especially towards the end) and all said baby would be huge most put him at 95th percentile. He came out at under 7 pounds and has been on the lowest end of the percentile charts ever since.

choosername1234 · 06/02/2021 15:52

Really quite accurate for me

strawberrypip · 06/02/2021 15:53

mine was bang on

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 06/02/2021 15:54

I had a late scan as my bump was small for my dates.
Was told she'd be about 5-6 lbs, she was 8lbs 5!

Mylittlepony374 · 06/02/2021 15:57

Nowhere near with first baby, estimated 10lb she was 7lb something.
I'd say very accurate with second. He was estimated 10 also, born at 34 weeks weighing close to 6lb.

AmIBeingTwatty · 06/02/2021 15:58

All 3 of mine were bang on

Madaleinerw · 06/02/2021 16:01

weight on growth scan 8lb5oz at 40+2 - actual weight was 6lb7oz 40+3 Grin

DreadAndFear · 06/02/2021 16:16

I had weekly scans with my first. They said he was very small 4 - 5lb but he was 7lb.

Can't remember the other children.

FluffyPJs · 06/02/2021 16:30

I measured big all along. My baby was footling breech and I had preeclampsia so had a c-section at 38 weeks. Scans in the weeks before indicated he was over 8lbs. He was 9lbs 6! Now 15 and over 6 feet tall. Always been tall for his age

physicskate · 06/02/2021 16:39

Nope. Measured at 7 lb 3 at 38 weeks. Born nearly 3 weeks later (40+5) at 6 lb 13. By the scan she should have been about 8 lbs 8ish...

springdale1 · 06/02/2021 16:40

Weight on growth scan was 10lb 6, she was 6lb 12... we had to go out and buy lots of small clothes!

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/02/2021 16:41

Both of mine were around 2lb lighter than growth scans were predicting.

My best friend was 'encouraged' to have a c section that she didn't want because her growth scans showed q baby over 11lb.

He was 7lb 3oz!

Stiles · 06/02/2021 16:43

Growth scan at 31 weeks had him already weighing in at 7lb 9oz. They couldn’t give me a birth weight estimate as their charts didn’t go high enough! He was born at 38 weeks weighing almost 11lbs so I'd call that pretty accurate.Grin

BurningBenches · 06/02/2021 16:46

About 1lb out. He was estimated to be 9lb at 37wks and was induced at 40wks weighing 9lb5. So was probably more like just under 8lb at 37wks.

stormelf · 06/02/2021 16:50

Ds was exactly as predicted

Strongswans · 06/02/2021 16:57

I had a scan at 38 weeks as there were concerns ds was small, they said he was 5lb 10 and would be 7lb ish at full term, so I was cleared for my home birth. Ds was born on due date at 5lb 6, so smaller than they'd guessed 2 weeks before. So not to accurate for me!

Quail15 · 06/02/2021 17:00

I was told my DD would be average weight - approx 7-8lbs .... She was 9lbs 12.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 06/02/2021 17:03

Miles out. She was predicted to be massive. Constantly tested for GD. She was 7lb 13 at term

crunchiebabe · 06/02/2021 17:11

Not at all , I was told 8 and a half pounds .... he was under 6 !

Warrickdaviesasplates · 06/02/2021 17:17

No where near for me either, they sent me for an emergency growth scan as the midwife was so concerned about how massive my bump was and she was worried about the amounts of amniotic fluid.

The scan said DS was about 4lbs so the sonographer said he'd likely be on the higher end of average, "around 8lbs, but could be a little less" and that there was no more fluid than the normal amount.

DS was over 10lbs! And the midwives who delivered him were very concerned about the huge amount of water that wouldn't stop for hours after breaking.

Luckily DS was fine, after getting stuck and having to be resuscitated, but it has made me very nervous as I was told I'd have to have a csection for any future babies of similar size.

Chelyanne · 06/02/2021 17:27

I don't remember being given weight estimates for the older 3, 7lb 7oz @ 39+6, 10lb 12oz @ 40+5 & 9lb 10oz @ 40+2.

Our twins they told us they were 5lb each at 32wk, born at 38wk weighing 8lb 5oz & 8lb 11oz.

HighlyStrungPuppet · 06/02/2021 17:30

Mine was inaccurate. Had extra scans as my fist born was said the be very small, he was 7lb 8.

Strokethefurrywall · 06/02/2021 17:39

Bang on for mine.

ShyTown · 06/02/2021 17:43

Accurate for me- was told to expect 7lb7-8lbs ish and she was 7lb13.

IHateCoronavirus · 06/02/2021 17:45

My “big baby” turned out to be a tiny 6lb dot. His 0-3 months clothes drowned him! Grin
