Ok, so, when I'm eating, I'm am always aware that it might not be staying down for long, and wonder which food I'm going to particularly regret.

For example last week, tuna pasta was NOT good.

Activia yoghurt....not too bad.

What are the best and worst foods when coming back up?!?!

Apparently pineapple and raspberries taste the same coming up as they do going down!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 20/01/2021 13:24

Gingernuts, IME experience of fairly gruesome morning sickness, tend to stay down.

Scbchl · 20/01/2021 13:25

Any bread products are horrific. Flavoured milk is okay. Fizzy juice is not. Hot chocolates okay. Yogurt if its straight back up. Homemade lumpy soups are not. I had hyperemesis and was being sick up to 30 times a day for nine months. The still drinks that come in bottles such as powerade are good to sip slowly throughout the day when sick to keep your energy levels up.

Tlollj · 20/01/2021 13:28

Pineapple tastes the same coming up as it does going down.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 20/01/2021 13:28

Spaghetti is bad. Very bad.

TeddyBlue · 20/01/2021 13:29

From three HG pregnancies I would say avoid;
Citrus fruits eg oranges (string together on the way back up)
Milk/Cheese/ Yoghurt (curdles)
Anything with ginger (burns)
Anything with bead or cake texture (clumps)
Lucozade
Fruit juice

Best things I found were plain rice, flat lemonade and boiled sweets (but be aware red ones look like blood Blush)

In my first undiagnosed HG pregnancy I would only eat a bite or two of anything new so I could test it first ShockGrin

UnbeatenMum · 20/01/2021 13:30

Very bland food is the best. I remember weetabix being ok and really plain pasta meals like shop-bought carbonara. Fruit is ok. Avoid anything like curry.

trifleandbaileys · 20/01/2021 13:34

Tinned peaches!

littleloopylou · 20/01/2021 13:35

Porridge is brilliant for this.

trifleandbaileys · 20/01/2021 13:36

Sorry- tinned peaches were good for me- quite a nice taste coming back up Blush

reservoircats · 20/01/2021 13:37

The worst for me were anything spiced - paprika crisps were the worst.
Tea was also very bad.
Soup was good and so was buttery bread Smile

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/01/2021 13:39

Bananas are good coming back up. Agree about the awfulness of tea!

kalidasa · 20/01/2021 13:41

Ha I am a total expert on this. Bread and potatoes both bad -- potatoes surprisingly painful to vomit, not sure why.

Milk stuff OK as long as it's not been down there too long.

Coke dreadful -- it was often one of the few things I could keep down but it's horrible to vomit if you don't.

Fruit can be bad the acid hurts. I couldn't eat fruit at all for months after my first HG pregnancy had to retrain myself to eat lots of things.

Oddly, I found sweet tea the one thing that tasted almost identical both ways.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 20/01/2021 13:42

I found cream cheese sandwiches in white bread and french toast were OK. Which is lucky as they were pretty much the only things I could eat for several months.

Humpty11 · 20/01/2021 13:44

Definitely agree that bananas aren’t too bad coming back up.
Anything citrus or fizzy was horrible and the worst in my opinion was mince 🤢🤮🤮

LlamaPjama · 20/01/2021 13:44

For me ice pops, ice lollies, ribena, ready salted crisps.

Absolute no - anything ginger based, lettuce (I still struggle to eat it now) and anything with dairy

Thisisbananas3 · 20/01/2021 13:59

Like PP said no ginger, you vomit fire.

I found fruit juices burned.

I’ve avoided anything with onion and garlic because the smell alone makes me heave.

Bland stuff has been ok for me- fruit, porridge, toast, croissants, hot cross buns, weetabix.

Hope the sickness subsides for you!

superram · 20/01/2021 14:00

I second ice pops and ice lollies.

BigusBumus · 20/01/2021 14:03

Ice cream if thrown up straight away is just like melted ice cream, basically.

TheQueef · 20/01/2021 14:03

Ice cream no bits.
It's especially nice if it's still cold.
vom a lot

KylieKangaroo · 20/01/2021 14:04

Tomato pasta sauce was the worst, I think I've been put off for life!

TheQueef · 20/01/2021 14:04

Xp BigB Smile

TheQueef · 20/01/2021 14:05

Dark chocolate is evil. It changes with saliva and becomes lava.

Hoppinggreen · 20/01/2021 14:06

Peppermint tea
Probably won’t come back up but if it does it’s basically the same as when it went down

Lemongrass9 · 20/01/2021 14:09

This morning I had a pot of chopped peaches in raspberry jelly (think the brand was dole) for breakfast and that wasn’t too bad coming up at all.

The cheese I had with lunch was a different story 🤢.

Agree with others that potatoes are not nice to bring up, mash is easy to eat but very painful to bring up.
