Ok, so, when I'm eating, I'm am always aware that it might not be staying down for long, and wonder which food I'm going to particularly regret.

For example last week, tuna pasta was NOT good.

Activia yoghurt....not too bad.

What are the best and worst foods when coming back up?!?!

Tinned peaches tasted ok coming back up. I really feel for you! Hope the sickness is short lived

Allyy · 21/01/2021 19:06

I've gotten used to this idea Grin even though it is gross. Anything that clumps together like biscuits, toast, are a definite no. Anything with a lot of sauce and food, like chicken, pasta, or any large meals really, are not great. Juices will burn your throat on the way back up.
When I'm sick the whole day I stick to sweets like jelly babies because they taste sweet on the way up, don't burn, and give energy plus don't repulse me when I'm feeling nauseous.
I stick to weak squash or coca cola as these aren't bad throwing up plus the coke helps alleviate my sickness and boost sugar levels xx

Tomato soup came straight back up. But I used to be able to keep popcorn down. I also had to clean my teeth about 5 times, as I used to gag as soon as the brush went in.

I found oranges to be quite good! When I had a covid test I threw up and the last thing I'd eaten was an orange, and it was pretty OK. Before that it was scrambled eggs so I was grateful it was the orange that came up and not that!

redcandlelight · 21/01/2021 19:15

sandwich biscuits (the lidl ones, round with cocoa filling)
I lived on them for a good few months.

JewelTheft · 21/01/2021 19:22

Smooth soup followed by jelly. Almost all of my lunches and dinners were this for a good 8 weeks of each pregnancy. Hope it passes soon for you.

Helenknowsbest · 21/01/2021 19:24

I had duck pancakes with hoisin sauce that I threw up in first pregnancy. Safe to say I think its put me off for life. I also thought potatoes and quavers were particularly gruesome.

Helenknowsbest · 21/01/2021 19:25

I'll back up that oranges are a good one, even having orange juice or orange ice lollies. Something really refreshing in it and it wasn't too bad to throw up.

surreymum89 · 21/01/2021 19:30

I find Apple really bad and plums , can really feel the skin and lumps on the way back up , best things probably diluted squash , pineapple , mango and jelly.

star1459 · 21/01/2021 19:34

@Greenandcabbagelooking

Spaghetti is bad. Very bad.
Similar experience but with super noodles. They come up looking like how they went down
Ashard20 · 21/01/2021 19:38

Poached eggs, sweet tea, jelly, custard - all ok

Garlic bread - still can't touch it 15 years later!

WolfHunter · 21/01/2021 19:45

I found rice really hard on the way up. I drank full fat 7up just to throw it back up. I have never drank 7up but it seemed to come up nice.. Grin there was about 2 months I didn't puke numerous times a day. I was puking in labour!

EmmanuelleMakro · 21/01/2021 19:49

Coca cola was all I could bear (hated it before and since but it served its purpose then)

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 21/01/2021 19:50

I could never stomach red meat or dairy when I had morning sickness.

Safe 'foods' were ready salted McCoys crisps, flat coke and ginger nuts.

Cupidity · 21/01/2021 19:50

Avoid potatoes, crisps, chocolate, dairy.

Lucozade was relatively pleasant to throw up, so were carrots and noodles. During my HG pregnancy I'd drink a cup of very sugary tea, and seconds later it would come straight back up (still warm) but it tasted just the same.

If your morning sickness gets really bad there are several antiemetic things you can take.

Sexnotgender · 21/01/2021 19:52

Tomato soup is pretty good.

redcandlelight · 21/01/2021 19:56

carbonated drinks made it hell.
tepid chamomile or fennel tea was good.

and whoever recommends ginger needs shut up.

MTwhyowhy · 21/01/2021 20:04

I second tomato soup, tastes the same on the way back up, which is much more preferable!

CatherineCawood · 21/01/2021 21:10

Weetabix with sugar is just as nice coming back up as it is going down!

pinkangelita · 21/01/2021 21:17

Coco pops used to come back up ok 😳🤣

Jellybluebean · 21/01/2021 21:24

Spaghetti bolognese was the absolute worse and even the memory of it makes me feel ill now...

Calapso ice lollies and breadsticks were ok

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/01/2021 21:31

Weetabix and Ready Brek were my only real nutrition when I was first pregnant with DS1. Occasionally some plain yoghurt as a fucking treat, my God

SleepymrsE · 21/01/2021 21:35

Just to add to others who have said it - anything ginger burns like hell on the way back up. Still can’t eat ginger biscuits over 4 years on from my HG pregnancy!

Siennabear · 21/01/2021 21:36

Sausage roll, crisps and tomato soup. I sympathise.

MildlyMiserable · 21/01/2021 21:40

I ate bread sticks throughout the day (little and often) they seemed to absorb the acid and stopped me being sick.
Also plain cubed cheddar.
