Newborn clothes size- did your baby fit it?

What did your baby weigh and did they fit newborn size??

My daughter was born 6lb 12oz and was in tiny baby clothes for about 5-6 weeks before going into newborn size! Second baby due in 8 or so weeks and so far he's about 25th percentile so following potentially similar growth to his sister BUT if he is going to be 7-8lb (or more) I'm wondering if he will fit newborn 😬

My DS didn't really fit into newborn clothes, he went into 0-3 if I remember correctly. He was 9lbs 1oz but I think it was more because he was very long that he didn't quite fit the smaller stuff. It was a shame as we had been given such lovely stuff and he didn't get to wear much of it.

My wee boy was 8lb and fit into newborn. Can't remember for how long but I'd mostly got 0-3 months and it was far too big.

7lb8 here and she fitted tiny baby and newborn at first - there can be quite a size disparity between clothes from different places

DD was 7lbs 2, nearly 2lbs less than the growth scans projected and was too small for newborn so we got a pack of tiny baby clothes. She was out of those in a week or so and straight into 0-3.

Ds was 8lb and was in tiny clothes for a couple weeks then into newborn. Didn’t last long in either of them. Now 7 months and on 9-12 already x

Both mine wore newborn for a while. One was 7lb 3 the other 8lb.

My dd was exactly 7.8oz (the average I think) she was in tiny baby for a few weeks and then newborn. We'd only brought a couple newborn, then 0-3 months and they were massive! So ended up rushing out for tinybabys

My 9.8 boy fit into newborn. My 10.4 boy was straight into up to 1 month xx

8lb4oz fitted into newborn for a week or two.

8lb 8, newborn lasted days. Could have gone straight into 0-3. He was 53cm born. I think newborn is 50cm technically

Mine were between 7lbs 10, and 8lbs 5 and they all fit into newborn :)

DS was 8lbs 15oz and newborn stuff from lots of shops was too small (lots of brands only seem to go up to 7lbs or so!) but up to one month was a good fit for a couple of weeks. He was fine in 0-3 though tbh, just a little bit loose.

DD was 8lbs 1oz and she fits nicely into up to one month. 0-3 vests and trousers are fine as we use cloth nappies but sleepsuits are a bit flappy!

Mine were 4lb15 and 4lb9 so it was months before newborn fitted them!

DD was 8lb 15oz and I was bracing myself for her not fitting newborn but actually she was in it until about 9 weeks. I think she was heavier but just quite compact!

My two children were 6lb and 6lb 2 but were completely different shapes.
dd was like a tiny ball and wore tiny baby for a few weeks before she could wear any newborn stuff. Ds was like a long thin worm and even though he was only 2oz heavier went straight into the newborn stuff.

My second did for a few days until she unscrunched her legs. She was 8lb 13oz. My boys were too big (9lb 2oz and 10lb 7oz)

No, I had a big baby 10lb 10oz and straight into 0-3.

DS was 8lb8 and fitted newborn for a few weeks, 0-3 would have been too big. DTs (5lb9 and 5lb10) were in tiny baby for ages, I think they fit in newborn at about two months!

My 2 were both well over the 8lbs mark and still fitted in newborn size for the first couple of weeks at least. I remember DH accidentally dressing 1 of them (can't even remember which child it was anymore!) in an up to 1 month babygro when they were about a week old and it looked ridiculously huge .

My babies were 9lb4 and 9lb1, and both wore newborn for a few weeks. However, JoJo newborn sleepsuits were too small from birth (the proportions were strange, too short in the leg and wide). Other brands/shops were fine in newborn size.

I think it is more about length than weight, especially leg length.

My first was in newborn size for a couple of months.
Second went straight into 0-1/0-3.

There was only 3oz difference between their weights, but DC2 was about 4cm longer at birth.
