Newborn clothes size- did your baby fit it?

What did your baby weigh and did they fit newborn size??

My daughter was born 6lb 12oz and was in tiny baby clothes for about 5-6 weeks before going into newborn size! Second baby due in 8 or so weeks and so far he's about 25th percentile so following potentially similar growth to his sister BUT if he is going to be 7-8lb (or more) I'm wondering if he will fit newborn 😬

I took 0-3 to the hospital last time and it swamped her. My parents had to go get first size.

This time I'm going to take first size, newborn and 0-3 to cover all bases lol

My 1st was 8lb 2 and fit his newborn stuff. No idea how long for.
My 2nd was 10lb 3 and I had to send DH out to buy 0-3 months as the newborn weren't quite long enough

DS was just over 5lb and wore Tiny Baby clothes , I think he was wearing the new borns at 3 months . I know all the clothes ended up being the wrong season as he had summer things bought him in 0-3 months but wasn't in that size until winter.

DS was 8lbs6oz and fit newborn for probably 2-3 weeks then went up to first size. It was bloody ages before 0-3 fit him properly even though he was a 'big' baby.

This one is projected to be bigger so I have struggled to know what he will fit in. Have a small number of newborn but more up to 1 month.

My little one was 6lb13 at birth dropping to 6lb8. We had asda first size which were big on her at first but not ridiculously so we decided against adding in tiny baby/newborn clothes. She was grew out of these clothes at about 8 weeks, we have some upto1 month bodysuits that she is still fitting in at 13 weeks!

6lb 7- only for early/tiny baby then was in newborn for ages
7lb- short but chubby, fit in newborn but grew out of it in a couple of weeks
8lb 10- long and slim, think all the weight was in his head! fit newborn nicely for about a month

Personally I prefer H&M sizing. 0-1 month, 2-4 months. I think it's only 10lbers that fit straight in 0-3 but a lot of first time parents just go by the label and end up with not enough that fits.

DD was over 7 pounds but only fitted boots tiny baby - there seems a massive discrepancy between sizing - Sainsbury and mamas and papas all came up huge. Boots and next were more true to size

My first was very tall (long?) baby- 56cm and newborn's clothes did not fit her. Not wanting to waste, for the second baby I've bought one size up. But he was small baby, so had to rush and buy newborn clothes after his birth! You just never know :)

Depends which shop you buy them from. I think next come up quite small, my first child was 6lb 13 and fitted newborn for ages (she struggled to gain weight), my second child was 8lb 3 and packed it on right away, he fitted newborn next for a week or 2 if that. Asda and particularly m&s are much bigger in their Sizing I found, even my second child fitted in those for the first month or so.

First 8lb 12oz went straight into 0-3 months as I’d only bought a couple of newborn size things.
Second had to go out and buy more newborn as she was nowhere near big enough for 0-3 months. She was 7lb 14oz

StaceImpactWfan · 12/11/2020 12:20

My first was 8lb 11oz and fit in newborn for a couple weeks then went into 0-3 by 4 months old he was in 6-9month clothes.

Second was 7lb 2oz and was in tiny baby for weeks he didn't graduate into 0-3 months until he was 5 months.

This time round I'm packing tiny baby and newborn only as even if she's big she will fit in newborn.
