From first contraction / sign until you gave birth?

Think I’m in early labour. Bloody show and really strong almost unbearable contractions every 20-10 minutes. Wondering if baby will be born today?

I was about 24 hours.

It's too hard for anyone to guess when your baby will be born, there are so many factors. Go for a walk or bounce on a birth ball to keep things going.

Fruitloops34 · 31/10/2020 08:10

I’m pregnant with my first so can’t comment for sure. But I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you will have the wee one by the end of today!

Good luck!

heathergem · 31/10/2020 08:10

Baby 1 - about 5 hours
Baby 2 - about 2-3 hours

I'ld say you'll have your baby today! Congrats to you Smile

MattBerrysHair · 31/10/2020 08:15

About 10 hours from taking induction medication to baby in arms. (I was induced at 42 weeks)

1sttimemumx94 · 31/10/2020 08:21

I was induced, first real contractions 5 minutes apart started Sunday night, I gave birth Friday morning as my cervix just simply wouldn't dilate despite being in a severe amount of pain. On Thursday night my body went into shock because of how long I was in labour for and I had to have injections to stop my labour (quickest and safest thing for the life of me and my baby boy). Luckily when it started back up I progressed quickly and safely and gave birth after 20 minutes of pushing Smile I would have to have a c-section in the future though

Although mine was more a bad reaction to the pessaries / hormone drip so don't let my story scare you! Just wanted to share my personal experience! 108 hours in total

Disappointedkoala · 31/10/2020 08:28

16 hours. Good luck OP!

I was in labour for 33 hours start to finish. 10 hours of irregular contractions, two hours of contractions five minutes apart and then my waters broke and they were every minute and a half for another four hours until my progression slowed down.

Started labour at 6.30am on day 1, reached 10cm at 10am the following day, started to push at 12pm and had an emergency c-section at 3.29pm.

Mylittlepony374 · 31/10/2020 08:39

1st baby - maybe 108 hours? Thurs morning first contractions, Monday p.m birth.
2nd baby- 3 hours max. Nearly a roadside birth.

coffeeaddiction · 31/10/2020 08:40

46 hours from start to finish

inappropriateraspberry · 31/10/2020 08:41

Dc 1 - about 2 hrs
Dc 2 - about 1 hr (born on the loo!)

Everyone is different - call your midwife.

bellsblue · 31/10/2020 08:41

Thank you everyone I suppose it really does vary. I’m 40+9 today so way overdue but really wanted to avoid a Halloween baby 🎃 The contractions are worse than I imagined my Hypnobirthing isn’t even touching the sides so dread to think how much worse it’s going to get! Contractions are still varying between 10-20 minutes so think I’ve got a long day ahead 🙈

1st baby, 3 hours from 1st contraction, 2nd baby 2 hrs.
I was lucky in that respect. But with no real warning my water birth I wanted went right out the window.

inappropriateraspberry · 31/10/2020 08:42

I think a Halloween baby would be great - easy theme for birthday parties, and will usually be in school holidays!

babbaganoush · 31/10/2020 08:43

First baby - first twinge 1930, baby born 0838 the following morning.
Second baby - first twinge 0130, baby born 0530.

Sounds promising! Good luck Smile

ToothlessTiger · 31/10/2020 08:44

12 hours with first baby, 6 hours with second and 3 hours with third.

Half as long each time. I wonder if a fourth would be an hour and a half. That'd be nice Grin

Indoctro · 31/10/2020 08:45

Woke up in my bed at 3.56am screaming baby is coming , 2 minutes later I was sat on my bathroom floor alone holding a baby

So 2 minutes for me Smile

pumpkinpieinmyeye · 31/10/2020 08:45

Mine was 103 hours (4 and a bit days) so you could avoid your Halloween baby yet!

onetime10 · 31/10/2020 08:52

44 hours from waters breaking on the Wednesday night and he arrived Friday evening. Contractions didn't get too intense until the Friday lunchtime. Best of luck OP x

bluemoon2468 · 31/10/2020 08:54

28.5 hours, and mine were already 5 minutes apart at the start. Best of luck for something shorter than that!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/10/2020 08:56

17 hours with DD1
6 hours with DD2. I went from very mild contractions to unbearable and rapid contractions very quickly. There was a very real risk of me giving birth in the car because of how quickly it changed.
