First time mamas in third trimester?

mammagmac · 27/07/2020 14:22

Hey,

I just wanted to see how any other first time mums are getting on in their third trimester? I just find it interesting to hear how people are and not feel like the only pregnant woman in the world 😂 I’m stuck in the horrendous Leicester lockdown, so anything to connect with people!!!

I’m 29 weeks today, definitely more clumsy and getting tired now. How’s everyone else?

Xxx

It sounds like we’re all ready for mat leave!!

How is everyone sleep wise? How much do you get a night and are you napping in the day?

Sleep could be better, usually every hour and half to either change sides, pee or with heartburn. Has anyone else found they get hot flashes during the night sometimes aswell?

I've never been able to nap during the day but the past few weeks have found myself falling asleep a lot. Will be napping daily when maternity leave starts I think.

KittyKat2020 · 28/07/2020 07:59

@BabyB19 literally exactly the same as you. No sleep and want to punch my snoring man, have pgp, feel huge! I’m 37 weeks tomorrow and my son needs to hurry up lol

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 08:19

I’ve been the same with sleep @Pwd1 and definitely getting hot at night!! The maternity pillow doesn’t help with that 🥵

I haven’t been napping in the day as I’m working from home and would be too groggy to get going again, so I’m looking forward to that on Mat leave!!

@mammagmac I havent got a maternity pillow but they do sound like they would hold heat. I've taken to putting those gel ice packs you get for injuries inside my pillowcase to lean on during the day.

I'm work from home too, I have nodded off on particularly slow days though without realising. Counting down the days till I leave!

BabyB19 · 28/07/2020 09:46

I ordered him an anti snore gum shield at 4am before I killed him. The worse I'm sleeping with the pain etc the worse I notice it @KittyKat2020 25 sleeps to go and hopefully not a minute longer. Hopefully then the sleepless night will be for a reason 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣
are you all eating dates and drinking raspberry leaf tea/capsules? I'm doing both 🤞🏼

BabyB19 · 28/07/2020 09:47

I'm due 23/08 and working until 21/08 as well! @mammagmac I must be mental but I want to save as much of the leave for when the baby is actually here 😭

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 10:06

@BabyB19 that is crazy, you’re braver than me!! But I totally understand why you’ve decided it that way.

Also - baby brain anyone?!

I haven’t done anything stupid as of yet, just feeling a bit spaced out all the time!!

Good morning all.

39 weeks + 3 days. FTM and from Leeds. Been in latent labour since last Monday. Very uncomfortable. Most days I feel absolutely rubbish then the occasional day I feel great. So very up and down at the moment. Not sleeping very well either, which I think is the major issue with my mood. Getting fed up of the usual "she not here yet" obviously not no. But just got to waddle on through the day and hopefully she will get a wriggle on soon. Hoping before Friday as the heatwave is supposed to begin again, the joys!! I promise I'm not usually a miserable person haha!!

Happy Tuesday!!

💜💜💜

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 10:11

Morning @Squishy88

You’re a trooper!! I hope your little one comes before Friday 🙏🏽 Best wishes!!

I know it's probably a bit daft and it was decided when I was in the happy second trimester before the shit hit the fan in the third hahah! I'm hang in there for a couple more weeks with my baby 💗💙 @mammagmac

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 10:24

@BabyB19 I totally get it!! You got this mama 💕💪🏽

38 weeks today! I’m so bloody ready to have this baby now like most of us are!!
I wake up at silly o’clock after a broken sleep then I want to nap at around 9am which then makes me feel worse 🤣
Can’t get comfortable sitting on the sofa or eating, sciatic nerve has just started to play up so walking is no fun now either, I can’t help but feel like I’m constantly moaning haha but reality is that I am.
Just can’t wait to finally see the end of pregnancy and meet my little boy.

You’re all troopers ladies for working! I’ve been furloughed since the end of March, which has made pregnancy feel like years but I’m grateful for it in another sense that I haven’t had to force myself to get up and go.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 28/07/2020 10:38

34+5 here and feeling pretty good! Lots of little niggles - carpal tunnel, up in the night lots to pee, jaw pain (such a weird symptom) and heartburn, plus sore feet, but overall I feel fine most of the time. Definitely haven't hit that 'OMG get the baby out now!' feeling yet.

Finishing work this week which I'm looking forward to, although I've been WFH so it hasn't been particularly tough. Afternoon naps definitely help! Currently away glamping with my DH for a few days and really enjoying being in the countryside.

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 10:48

@Nowisthemonthofmaying jaw pain! I get that quite often coz I grind my teeth in my sleep when I’m stressed.... and pregnancy in a pandemic is sure stressful!!!

Getting into the countryside sounds dreamy - we’re doing the same at the end of August, providing the spread of Covid is under control and Leicester can be released from lockdown 😬

I'm 38+3 in Cheshire and still working (from home!). My lunch break is currently my afternoon nap time.. I never knew I could sleep so much and still fall asleep, like just sat with my husband and the next minute I'll be gone.

I'm hoping baby isn't going to be late, but who knows! I'm at the midwife at 39+4 and I'm hoping she'll offer a sweep (haven't seen her since 36 weeks). I'm so swollen I'm living in my husbands sliders and my own trainers are for special occasions!

Hubby is allowed in the hospital once I hit 4cm but he can't leave otherwise he isn't allowed in. But my trust are letting partners at 20 week scans so there's light for those due later in the year (we had our scans pre-lockdown anyway)

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 11:26

@Babyshine2020 oooh I’ve gotten away with swelling so far; we’ll see how I go!

It’s so good that scan rules are starting to change, our friends paid for a private one that I could bring hubby to and that was amazing - made up for him missing everything else!! All being well in having a homebirth which means he can be there too.

Hope everything goes well lovely! X

Just into my third trimester now and feel like I've hit a brick wall, I'm so tired it's like the beginning all over again.... just fat this time round so harder to get comfortable.
Also in Leicester.... thankfully we're just out of the lockdown now but I've still not left my house for anything other than my daily exercise.

mammagmac · 28/07/2020 11:56

@27andcounting
Hey fellow Leicester lady! I know what you mean - I feel like I’m back in first trimester too!!

OP posts:
Babyshine2020 · 28/07/2020 11:58

@mammagmac oh well that's good! Home births are allowed here too, I'm pretty sure they're back up across England now but I could be wrong.

Our hospital is fairly old and the wards are shared, but friends in Manchester in some of the newer hospitals can have dad there from start to finish & after the birth as they all have private rooms so there's no more cross contamination than there would be during the birth.

It's a shame, but it's life at the minute!

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 28/07/2020 14:03

@mammagmac I'm a tooth grinder too, have to wear a v sexy mouthguard at night!

I'm also planning a home birth - in my part of the country fortunately they weren't cancelled, in fact the midwives were encouraging them during covid so as few people were in the hospital as possible. Just keeping my fingers crossed that none of my risk factors change and I don't need an induction.

BabyB19 · 28/07/2020 20:46

Can I just ask here what size luggage you're all taking? We have a standard luggage set with S/M/L cases. I planned to take the small for OH + drinks and snacks etc, and medium for me and baby but now it's packed I've absolutely rammed the medium one full and still need to add stuff! Am I goi h too far taking the full size case with me? It doesn't help that we need to over pack due to Covid incase were kept in but good lord it seems a lot of stuff! HELP!

MrsN2121 · 29/07/2020 07:48

@babyb19 Hi, I'm using my changing bag for baby's stuff, a carrier bag for snacks (once empty can keep it for dirty washing), small hand luggage for me and then going to have just a rucksack or something in the car with an extra day's worth of clothes that my husband can bring in if I get kept in longer. Large suitcase seems a lot, don't think there will be space on the ward for it.

Pwd1 · 29/07/2020 07:55

@BabyB19 I'm taking a large duffel bag for mine and babys stuff and have managed to fit everything in just about. Then I've got another fabric shopping bag that I'm taking for snacks and drinks. My partner will be putting a few bits for himself in a rucksack too incase he wants to freshen up. My hospital is allowing 1 hour visits every day now so if I need extras my partner can bring them.
