All these boys/girls notifications is making another 20 weeks wait for the surprise seemnlike ages 🤣 Everyone seems convinced I'll have a boy mind & being the only girl out of 4 kids myself there's probably a good chance!

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 09:16

@pampero @Muriel84
I guess it's only you both who have kept it a surprise 💯
If I'm not wrong the rest of us know what we're having.

My first born was a surprise as couldn't tell on scan due to her lying positions, so had no idea, and bought all neutral colours for the shop.... the other 2 was told it will be boys, but didn't realy believe it till I held them lol..
Now I'm struggling to get used to another boy, but deep down I hope they're wrong and I have a girl.. I'm not complaining guys I'm grateful but don't know why my heart is so set on another girl, since I found out I had a dream of a baby girl, and every time I'm browsing at clothes etc I'm more drawn to girly stuff. So it's not sinking in yet with a boy 🤣

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 09:34

Any one else got upcoming routine Appts with their Midwife?
I was told to get in touch with her after my scan... She's booked me in for a months time.
Anyone else feel their baby pushing at the bladder? Mine is and I've been going toilet so many times, feel like I'll burst only for a few drops of wee lol 🤣🤣

Been getting alot of round ligaments pain too and pelvic/lower back.pains. Xx

Muriel84 · 09/10/2020 09:43

@Safxxx aww I’m the only girl in four and I absolutely love it! One week I’m convinced I’m having a boy, the next a girl...

I had another scan on Wednesday at the preterm labour clinic I’ve been going to. I had a swab to see whether there was risk of preterm labour over the next few weeks, and it came back very low risk. Placenta is still low so being scanned week 34. 12 weeks without a scan after being scanned every 2-3 weeks since week 5 is going to be tough!

I have my midwife face to face at 25 weeks in late October. My hospital is now letting visitors onto postnates for an hour a day. A step in the right direction hopefully! Xxx

Stef92 · 09/10/2020 10:24

@Safxxx I'm booked in for a 25 week consultation on 10th nov and going for whooping cough injection next Friday. They have to book me in for my anti-d injection after my 25 week consultation as well due to my blood type

Char41zam · 09/10/2020 10:42

@Safxxx I have another scan in 4 weeks to check the growth of baby to make sure she isn’t getting to big because of my diabetes, I have seen my midwife once because I see the hospital every 4 weeks she hasn’t even bothered with me! I have a UTI at the moment so on antibiotics been having a lot of issues with busting for the toilet and just dribbles so mentioned it and they sent it off to be tested, starting to feel baby move loads now and my partner felt her kick last night too! X

babydust2412 · 09/10/2020 10:43

@Safxxx haha I started a baby boy trend 😂💙

babydust2412 · 09/10/2020 10:46

@Safxxx I have a routine appointment for 25 weeks ish soon xx
And yes my boy is pushing on my bladder all the time 😂 if I'm not always near a bathroom i fear i would wet myself 😂 he got me up every hour to wee last night silly boy 😂 xx
Me too I've had lots of back pain and some more round ligament pains as he's got bigger. I find a warm bath helps and I also have one of those hot teddies you put in the microwave, as they don't get hot enough to affect baby but it's just enough for some relief for me xx

@Muriel84 that's great news with the low preterm labour, does seem to be a big gap for the next scan, but on the positive side it's a good sign that all is well enough not to be checked till then. And great news on visitors too 👍🏼

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 11:30

@Char41zam Hope you feel better soon, lovely the babies movements can be felt outside... mine can only be felt inside by me lol. Xx

Char41zam · 09/10/2020 11:45

@Safxxx thanks! Yeah last night was the first time she has kicked so much that he could feel it properly, I’m 22 weeks tomorrow it’s amazing the difference a couple of weeks can make for movements increasing x

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 11:46

@babydust2412 yep you sure have started the BOY trend 💙 yes a lovely hot water bottle is soothing, but not had time for bath soaks only quick showers... and a good old back to bed time to ease it off lol

@Stef92 good luck with those injections. I'm not a fan off them 😣

Muriel84 · 09/10/2020 12:04

My partner has now felt one kick but the pattern where baby completely goes still whenever he puts his hand on continues! I can see big movements in my stomach and as soon as he looks it lies still! It’s ridiculous. Maybe he doesn’t have the same patience for lying staring at my belly that I have!

@Stef92 I had both jabs in one arm and it was fine! Bit sore for one day. I get the flu jab through work every year and this was definitely one of the least painful. I’m rhesus negative too and my partners positive. Waiting to get the results from fetal dna test to see if I need anti d. Nuts that they can tell the baby’s blood group. X x x

pampero · 09/10/2020 14:24

@safxxx we were going to find out, then we weren't, went back and forth but decided being our first, we'll be patient and wait it out! (I'm massively indecisive!)

As for the dreams of a girl...my friend told me that with her sister everyone was convinced it was a boy, but in any dreams she had about babies it was always a girl and that's what she got, so who knows, maybe the dreams are a premonition! As they say, scans aren't always 100% even if they think it's a boy xxx

pampero · 09/10/2020 14:27

As for the appointments I think my next one is the 25 week one, currently not sure if they're doing that by phone or face to face. Have a new midwife as my old one left the practice, so hopefully she's just as nice!

@steph92 @muriel84 I'm also rhesus negative, got a letter last week to say baby is as well - think it was about a 4 week gap between them doing the test and me getting the letter to confirm x

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 14:56

@pampero I do hope so the scan is wrong, it's funny I told the lady that I had read in a article that a woman was told 4 times she would have a boy, but gave birth a girl..... She said well I certainly ain't wrong with this ones it's definetely a BOY lol
You know first pregnancy I had no feelings off boy/girl
2nd one I dreamt I had a BOY and I was drawn to blue colours More, when I had my scan they confirmed it was a boy.
3rd son, I guess again I didn't really have any feelings but went by my symptoms and thought might be a boy, it was.
Now it's such a feeling off a girl that I'm not getting my head around a boy... even since I've found out, I still love looking at girly things online more then boys stuff...🤣 it's mad..... maybe bcuz I've been always hoping for a family of 2 boys 2 girls.
Just as me, we are 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
I honestly can't shake this feeling off. I had that dream of a girl before I even found out I was pregnant, week later I tested positive.
Oh who knows....i just wish all goes well and the baby is healthy Xxxx

Yes the 25wk routine appt should be face to face, and anything after that too should be in person not on phone. As they would monitor blood pressure and check urine and babies heart beat and measurements.
Think they routinely check monthly after 25wks unless theirs problems and they see you more than once a month. Xxx

Stef92 · 09/10/2020 18:03

@Muriel84 we've not been offered that to work out baby's blood type, my husband is positive as well. Did you ask for this test? X

pampero · 09/10/2020 18:54

@stwf92 is this your first baby (sorry, lose track in the long thread!). If it is I think they do the test to check what blood type the baby is as standard if the mum is rhesus negative...unless it varies by region? Then you only need it if you are rhesus negative and the baby is rhesus positive (in my case the baby is rhesus negative like me, hence I don't need it). If you've already had a child and if that child were rhesus positive, I think (and please do check this part) that you have the injection regardless

pampero · 09/10/2020 18:55

@stef92 that last message was for you...I clearly have fat typo fingers and my app won't let me edit the post!

Stef92 · 09/10/2020 19:41

@pampero it is my first baby and this has not been spoken about at all. I've been told I will get 1 or 2 injections in the third trimester and then they'll test the placenta once the baby is born and if he's positive I will have to have another injection before I'm discharged

pampero · 09/10/2020 19:47

@stef92, it may be thats its different dependent where you are then, but I guess cant do any harm asking a bit more about it from the midwife.
Just read my letter, it did mention that they'll do another test at birth as there is a very small chance that the baby could be found to be rhesus d after birth -if that happens then I'd have an injection at that time.

bluang3l · 09/10/2020 19:50

Had my 20 week scan and I'm having a girl!

I haven't seen or spoken to a midwife since 12 weeks. No idea if they're even giving me a 25 week appointment?? At my 12 week appt I confirmed I wanted a whooping cough vaccination but I've heard nothing.

I've contacted Maternity Voices for some assistance as whenever I call the hospital they've been really unhelpful - didn't even get a 16 week appt because they told me they'd get to me when they can - what kind of care is that??

OnNaturesCourse · 09/10/2020 20:05

That's odd, I got my whooping cough and flu vaccine at the hospital after my scan. I was told that's the norm just now.

Safxxx · 09/10/2020 21:19

@bluang31 congrats on your baby Girl 💟
You need to contact your named midwife. I was only seen once by her at around 8wks. Was told to contact her after my 20wk scan, which I did and she booked me for a months time. You should be seen by your midwife around that time too. Xx

bluang3l · 09/10/2020 21:33

@Safxxx That's another problem, I don't have any midwife names, be it named or otherwise! My book has a team name with a contact number that just goes to Royal London Hospital. This could be because I told them I'm my 8 week appt that I'm moving countries in Dec and won't actually be having her in the UK. I should still get the care I need up until then though
