Hi everyone,

I hope that I don’t upset or offend anyone with this post, it’s not my intention at all!

I’m a first time (hopefully to be) mum and I’m 33. I’m 7 weeks pregnant and found my positive at just 4 weeks, due date Jan 31st. Since then I’ve been trying to find a thread that I fit in to.

I’m quite a private person but as no one around me is pregnant, I’d like to connect with other mums to be. I know lots of people are more chatty, but some of the threads and sharing of detail sent me into a bit of an anxious loop where I dissected every twinge etc and it wasn’t healthy for me personally.

I was wondering if there’s anyone similar out there that would like to connect, as I’d love to know about your experiences and go through this journey with others too.

Again, I hope I haven’t upset anyone, as I fully get that everyone meanders through things differently.

Wishing you all a healthy journey x

Hi @Sansa87,

Congratulations on your positive! (You’ve come to the right thread if you’re a jinx worrier too! 😂)

I think if you’re testing every day it’s safe to believe it’s really happening. 😊

I also found my positive at week 4 and had stomach cramps and back ache very similar to usual menstrual pains. All symptoms have been very much (hopefully not speaking too soon!) less intense than that first week, slight nausea and gagging at strong scents, but nothing too major, and most of the time nothing at all, so try not to worry and read into it too much.

Wow, June has definitely been a great month for you and your fiancé, huge congratulations on all milestones! x

@2020N Thankyou so much for the welcome!

I’m thinking I’m going to book in for an early scan. I think I’d feel less anxious if I had the “normal” symptoms you hear about.

I never knew you could get af like cramps, so In my head what I’m feeling does not go with prefnancy, & it’s a bad sign.

Can’t wait to go on this journey with al of you 😁

Mandalory · 21/06/2020 18:54

@2020N I only needed the band size so got DP to give me a hand and check that hadn’t changed yet! There’s 4 hooks and they fit fine on the tightest just now so enough room for growth in band and cup 😬 think I might be eyeing up knickers next 😂

How are you feeling today? Hope you’ve had plenty of sleep and managed to enjoy the weekend 😊 are you working all week?

All the sleeping yesterday has given me a bit more energy today, I’ve been on a couple of walks and also tried a pregnancy workout from YouTube. I used to go to the gym a lot but haven’t done much at all with lockdown, it’s made me nervous about re-starting now but I actually really enjoyed it 😊

@Sansa87 Congratulations!! What an exciting month for you 😊 I can second 2020N’s words, the early cramping is very normal! I think I had it for around 10 days, still occasionally have a cramp but it did settle. I had light nausea from early on which got a bit more constant but seems to be easing a bit in the last few days, although I think I preferred it when it was worse! Fluctuating symptoms are stressful 😣 I’ve had no throwing up and definitely feel it’s not as ‘bad’ as I expected.
I know what you mean that it makes you more anxious, I also had an early reassurance scan and it has made me calmer. I think people with more severe symptoms are more likely to write about them and look for support, but it’s so hard not to read and compare.

I’m also an essay writer 😂 luckily that’s not a problem on this thread!

One more week to go until our next scan. I can’t wait but it still feels so far away. Need to think of a few mini milestones to break it down 😬 xx

Celibacydidntwork · 21/06/2020 20:48

Hi @2020N ♥️ I’m also due on the 31/1 ! 8 weeks today. Also a super private person and finding this whole experience emotional 😭 as I have 3 older children from a previous marriage. I am most def still in denial 😂. How are you feeling? X

2020N · 22/06/2020 07:16

@Mandalory Sounds like comfort heaven! 😂

I’ve felt much better thank you, still having terrible nights sleep with these restless legs, so trying to take it a little slower in the morning and having a second wind nap/laze before I actually get up!

We popped down to see my mum and dad for Father’s Day and socially distanced in the garden so that was nice. I’m working from home at the minute, so I’m attached to my phone/computer screen all day instead!

I’m glad you had a good rest and have had more energy, walking and work-outs will do the trick to make you feel better!

How exciting, just one more week! Keep doing your walks and exercise and count those as your mini-milestones, each session is one day less until you get your scan! x

Hi @Celibacydidntwork

(Your name has really made me laugh! 😂)

Congratulations on your positive, and on your DD! @pharmacoco also shares this date with us. 😊

Ah how lovely, I’m sure your older 3 children will be the perfect helpers. Have you not long found your positive?

I’ve been feeling quite well thank you for asking. I get occasional waves of nausea, usually when I need a snack top up! Strong scents send me gagging and I can’t keep my eyes open past 9.30pm 😂 A new pleasantly has been restless legs that have hit me these last few nights, so having rubbish sleep which doesn’t help the sleepiness in the evenings 🙈. How are you feeling? X

Celibacydidntwork · 22/06/2020 09:36

@2020N positive two weeks ago .- denial ever since. I also have the restless legs thing, such a weird feeling. My boobs are giving Dolly Parton a run for her money, and they’re super throbby. Waves of nausea and craving strange things on toast - everything now belongs on toast ... cucumber, cheese, banana... not really into eating anything else. My children will be excited I’m sure they’re 8,12,14 so will be a help and my partner also has a 12 and 14 year old so that’s babysitting sorted.

I’m still in denial until first scan, with my age I’m so high risk it’s more likely to mc so trying to be pragmatic. 🙏

2020N · 23/06/2020 04:51

@Celibacydidntwork

How do you manage your restless legs? I’ve been placing a pillow in between mine so that one leg is lying in its side, then the pillow, then my other leg in top - seems to give small relief, but I have to keep switching from side to side 🙈.

I’m glad your symptoms are pretty manageable, Dolly Partons aside! Cucumber on toast is a new one, I’ll give you that one! 😂

Ah how lovely, they’re great ages to give you a hand! Baby will be very protected growing up!

Try to stay positive as much as possible and welcome to the worriers club x

Good afternoon ladies! I am WFH trying my hardest to concentrate but the lure of mumsnet/pregnancy related-browsing is too strong!Got my NHS scan date through in the post today for 16th July & this has made me so unbelievably happy! 🥳🥳
Less happy because DH & I had agreed to go for an early scan this Saturday (hadn’t booked it yet but place near us only doing Saturday apts at the mo) & I just rang him before booking & he has told me he now has to work on Saturday. (he runs his own business & Sth has come up today). Which means we have to wait another week. Not sure if it’s the preggo hormones but I’m angrier than I’ve been about anything in quite some time!! 🤬

@Celibacydidntwork @Sansa87 warm welcome to the worriers club ! xx

2020N · 23/06/2020 15:37

@sparklingpinot

Im terrible with my browsing today too, so it makes me feel a little better than you’re doing it too! Sorry! 🤣

How exciting that you’ve had your NHS scan date through! Definitely a date in the diary to look forward to!

I’m sorry to hear your husband has to work on Saturday, how disappointing for you. Does he work locally? Could he schedule his lunch around your appointment? Not surprising that you’re feeling upset when you’ve built yourself up that it was going to happen this week. I hope that you can both find a way to work it into the day x

Hi guys!
How we all doing ? I'm feeling sickly most days but find if I eat as soon as I'm up it helps so much!
Trousers feel a little bit more snug then usual despite my weight being the same ! I hope every one is also doing well and congratulations to all the newbies on here since I last logged on ! Smile

Sansa87 · 23/06/2020 20:16

There are five days between these photos... I’m struggling with constipation atm 😩 it’s made me go up two dress sizes 😂

Nausea has all but gone, and cramps are a little less, but still there. Of course that makes me worried too. My poor body can’t win 😂

I was sold morning sickness, and fatigue. Those are the symptoms I ordered 😅

2020N · 24/06/2020 06:51

Hi! @pharmacoco

I’m glad you’re feeling well! I’m the same, as soon as I wake up I need a fresh orange juice and food - I’ve never been one for breakfast or early mornings but that all seems to have changed now!

Have you any updates on dates to look forward to? x

OP posts:
2020N · 24/06/2020 06:56

@Sansa87

Sorry to hear that you’re suffering with constipation, it’s so uncomfortable! Have you upped your fibre intake? That helped me massively.

😂 I don’t think we’ll stop worrying to be honest, feeling well or not! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 x

OP posts:
pharmacoco · 24/06/2020 09:40

@Sansa87 ah I bet you do feel uncomfortable ! Keep up with the fibre and fluids and hopefully things will start to move!

@2020N I haven't received any correspondence yet from the hospital regarding any scans. We have an issue with the post here (coronavirus outbreak at the sorting office) I was thinking about giving the midwife a call this week. Have you had a date through?
I had a private scan last week, was measuring a day ahead, so today should be 8+4 making the due date 30/1/21 ! Lovely to see a heartbeat and a king prawn 😆

2020N · 24/06/2020 09:55

@pharmacoco

No I haven’t yet either. I’ve got an in-person appointment with my midwife on Friday for my blood tests etc. Hoping that the scan might come in the post after that. She told me that it would def be between 12-14 weeks and then we’d have another telephone appointment in my 16th week.

Oh no, how awful. I hope everyone at the office is able to recover quickly. It scary how so many fresh outbreaks there are at the moment. I’m staying well put and avoiding everything/anything even if it’s open! Definitely be worth giving her a call, they might be able to contact you another way if the post is delayed.

Ah how lovely that you’ve had your early scan. King prawn 😂😂😂 So pleased for you! That’s a great due date - my birthday 🤣. x

Morning ladies 😊

Managed to pass a few more days by stripping more wallpaper! We bought our ‘perfect’ house earlier in the year but it’s a complete renovation and we won’t move in until builders are done - just waiting for planning permission tho we’ll be lucky to be in before baby arrives 🙈 I definitely won’t be stripping wallpaper then tho!

@SparklingPinot I have my NHS scan on 16th too! So excited 😊 I hope you can find a way for DH to have an hour off for you to get one on Saturday too, it’s the loveliest thing 🥰

@2020N glad you can work from home, I feel it’s made such a difference not having to commute and being a bit more comfortable. Lovely that you got to see family at the weekend 😊 have you told anyone yet?

I’ve definitely got more energy this week, I’ll stick with my exercising. I’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow which is a good milestone, and then it’s almost scan day! How long is it until yours?

@pharmacoco glad your scan went well, they do look so odd early on 😂 how they manage to turn into a human shape so quickly is amazing, I keep looking at pictures at 12 weeks and they’re basically all formed by then 😲

@Sansa87 I totally get you! Had to send DP to hunt bigger leggings from various supermarkets a few weeks ago (in Scotland we still don’t have clothes shops open even now 🙈). I’ve not had much of the expected symptoms either, but I’m grateful that the sore nipples have stuck around, those and the bloat are my reassurances 😂

Hope everyone has a good day in spite of any sickness xx

2020N · 24/06/2020 17:54

Hi @Mandalory

You are good stripping wallpaper! I’ve planted a few plants into pots today and felt like I was squishing my insides every time I leant forwards. 😂

How lovely, hopefully you will be in your forever home, or very close to being by the time baby arrives!
It has definitely made a difference working from home. I feel like I’m showing already so no way I could’ve kept it quiet for much longer. I’m quite a slimmish size 10 usually, but my tummy and sides seem to have joined forces over the last week or so! Thank god for loose nighties and dressed!

We have told my mum, dad and sister. I’m a terrible liar, they only have to look at my face and know that I’ve got something to hide 🤣. OH wants to wait until 12 weeks scan to tell his family, just to be on the safe side, but he knows how close I am to mine so was happy for us to tell my side earlier on.

I’m glad you’ve got more energy this week through the exercising, I need to up my game I think. 10 weeks is a great milestone and ever closer to that 12 weeks scan!

We’re booked in for a week on Sunday for a 10 week private scan, then hoping the NHS one will be two ish weeks after that but haven’t had a date through yet.

The weather has been gorgeous today here, I’ve managed to sit in it for half hour every so often before I overcooked. Hope you all managed to grab some rays too x

Hi @2020N 😊

I think I’ve just been head down and determined to get through this week and trying to distract myself, it’s kind of worked since it’s now Saturday and scan tomorrow... I feel like so much is hanging on it in that if everything is ok I’ll finally start to feel more confident, but so worried in case something isn’t right.

Lovely that you have the support of your family, I have told my mum (she’s a few hundred miles away but I wanted her to be the first to know). We’ll tell my Dad after tomorrow’s scan, and DP’s parents later in the week - they’re local so we can tell them in person. They’ll be thrilled but his DM can be a bit overbearing so I’m not looking forward to managing that! 😂

I hope the heat hasn’t been too uncomfortable for you, bloat and heat just don’t go together! Certainly time to get the loose clothing out, and maybe some early treats in the maternity ranges... after all you’ll get more use from anything you buy early on!
Most of my clothes are on the skinny side and they’re not looking amazing 🙈 although in Scotland we still can’t go anywhere so it’s not an issue for now 😂

So excited for your scan next week too 😊 between us we’ll have a scan a week to look forward to, that feels like it’ll help me pass the time as well 😊

Hope you have a lovely weekend xx

Alpacapicnic1 · 27/06/2020 09:53

Morning ladies! How are you all feeling at the moment? Hoping your pregnancy symptoms aren't too debilitating 😘

I'm so pleased it's the weekend and get a couple of days off work. It's been so busy this week. Anyway, I've almost hit the 12 week mark 🎉🙌🌈, and since yesterday have been feeling much more energised. So much so that I cleaned the house yesterday after work 💪, leaving my husband in total shock (usually I just collapse on sofa in evening)! I'm hoping this energy is here to stay!!!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow @mandalory, and yours next week @2020N - please report back! Did you get to book yours in yet @SparklingPinot? Hope you've got your scan letter through now @pharmacoco - I had my private scan at 8+3 and king prawn is a very fitting description 🤣

How are you getting on with bloat now @Sansa87? I hope it's more comfortable for you! I've been sooo bloated too, but it usually eases overnight and past few days I've been waking up looking more rotund in belly area (only noticeable to me really) so wondering if bump is beginning to make a gradual show...eek! Most of my clothes are quite fitted too @mandalory, so I've bought a couple of maternity bits online (dress/leggings/additional comfortable bra tops) in anticipation, and hope they don't take too long to arrive. My last online order took 3 entire weeks to arrive, I don't think I can wait that long!!!

Have a lovely weekend all! My 12 week scan is on Monday so not long to wait now 😄 xx

2020N · 27/06/2020 19:10

Hi @Mandalory

I’m glad this week has passed quickly for you, so exciting that your scan is tomorrow! What time is it at?

I completely understand how you feel I’m exactly the same. Sending you lots of positive thoughts for tomorrow. Just keep reminding yourself that nothing has stood out to cause any worries, so there’s every reason to believe that you will have the good news that you’re hoping for tomorrow. 🤗

It’ll be so nice to be able to tell people after your scan, can you tell your MIL and run?! 😂

This heat has been rough hasn’t it! We’ve got a fan in the bedroom and DP had an idea of using the ice packs out of the freezer to place on the mattress and that’s cooled me down no end! I actually slept till 8am this morning - couldn’t believe it! My body clock is now set for bedtime between 9.30-10 and up anything between 4-6am! 💤

I’m looking forward to hearing all about your scan tomorrow, I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

Have a lovely weekend too x

I'm 33 and 8 weeks pregnant. I had a private scan last week, which I highly recommend if there's a clinic in your area. It was fab. X
