16 weeks doesn't feel that long to go!!!

Been loving this great weather. Hope everybody is keeping well xo

tallulahhulah1 · 29/05/2020 05:26

Oooo yay a September due date post and I'm early enough for it. I have seen some but they are 800 post deep and I feel a bit weird intruding.

So I'm due 7th September (25+4) , hi to any due date twins. Expecting a girl (second pregnancy first was when I was 18 and now I am 34 with a 15 year old). So definitely feeling like I am starting all over again.

Now major question is, is anyone struggling to sleep at night. I get up at stupid o'clock and then can't get myself back to sleep before I have to get up for work. 😔. Anyone got any tips considering my partners snoring is driving me nuts and not helping. Lol

SunStruck · 29/05/2020 14:37

@LASandOtto god sorry I completely missed your reply 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ all good with me thanks, work knows now and I'm going to try to work until my first contractions haha - I will be WFH until birth so that should work! Sorry to hear things are tough, do you deal with flight travel?

Btw I loveeee that wallpaper for your nursery! We have ordered the Uppababy Cruz pram, we were choosing between that and the Vista! But I went to the shop to push, fold and carry both and we went with the Cruz. If you live in London I really recommend the Cruz, vista is so wide and much heavier! Cruz is really easy to push and is super easy to fold etc. we also live in London when we go back (we lived there before moving out here) so we are also considering using the pram in London for our (hopefully) second baby! which color are you going for?! Do you know the sex or your baby yet? 😄

LASandOtto · 29/05/2020 20:59

Hi Ladies!

Just catching up, one of those manic work weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️ a nice glass of cold wine would be so nice right now... I might crack open a small bottle of the Freixenet non alcoholic 'Prosecco' I ordered, not given it a go yet!

@Sunsage been loving the rays every day too - I have a 30 min walk at lunch every day to break up my working from home time and I've been mostly walking around in my Birkenstock's. I've not realised it until we were lying in bed recently and my OH said - 'have you got a tan line on your feet'? 😂 my upper foot is white where covered by the sandal strap; the rest is a nice golden tan now. Yikes! Switching to flip flops for a bit!

@tallulahhulah1 welcome! Yes we haven't had too many posts on here yet. Some of the threads move so fast and I cannot even keep up! We are almost due date twins - I'm a day behind you, due 8th with my first (a girl).

My OH snores like a motorcycle but he recently partook in a trial where they tested a new device for 20 mins daily. It sends some sort of pulses to the tongue muscle (worn in the mouth) and is meant to improve the snoring by strengthening the tongue. Anyway, it has actually worked and he snores a lot less and a lot less loudly too when he does snore (which is rare). I guess it won't come to market for some time yet but I'll ask OH for the name.

I've got a lovely pregnancy pillow and that's really helped me sleep more comfortably!

LASandOtto · 29/05/2020 21:06

@SunStruck 😂😂 don't worry girl. I know it's hard to keep track of all the threads. How is everyone on the pregnancy after loss thread? I hope MrsMGE is ok in her second pregnancy and avocuddles too?

Yay, you got the Cruz! You have to buy the bassinet extra right? Is that also approved for overnight sleeping? There's lots of nice colours, I like Sienna. Expecting a girl (yours is a boy if I remember correctly?) and cannot wait for shops to reopen June 15th. I really want to see / push and look at prams and travel systems in person. I am really tired of looking at stuff online, it's just not the same experience and you don't get the same little buzz of getting a nice item together. I don't know maybe my hormones are talking here. I know it's a stupid thing to moan about, but we are all human!

Yes, I do indirectly work with aviation, crew specifically to be precise. It's been a whirlwind in our industry, am glad to still remain in my role! I will also work for as long as possible although I do have some holidays to take, so need to check how that works!

What other bits have you already bought?

We are still busy doing up the flat and the next project is next week, we have tilers and plumbers round to re-do our bathrooms. Exciting!

SunStruck · 29/05/2020 21:29

@LASandOtto haha yeah good to be back here! And so nice to hear everything is coming along nicely for you with the house - It's going to be perfect for when your little girl arrives ❤️

Ive not been that active on here (the other thread) for a week, MrsMGE went for a scan and it showed an empty sac 😔😢 she should have been 11 weeks and sure of her dates. I've been so sad and upset for her, she really doesn't deserve this. So I took a step back because I'm really grieving for her, I guess us three have been in this from day one really so that hit home! Avocuddles is doing well from what I can see from the last updates 🙂

About the pram, yes you need to buy the bassinet and it's the same bassinet as for the vista so its overnight sleeping approved! It works out to be slightly cheaper than vista even when you add on a bassinet. Sienna is a nice color, but it looks different in real life than in pictures (we were also considering that color). We went with Gregory in the end! Loving the brown leather handlebars. We also got the Mesa car seat from Uppababy.

Other bits I've bought is the cot and changing table, and a Moses basket! These are the bigger bits. What about you? It's a jungle out there with breastpumps etc and I'm none the wiser after having read up about and read a ton of reviews 🤦🏻‍♀️ i know it's almost 4 months left for me until he arrives but I feel like I have so much stuff to get that I know nothing about 🤣

About the holidays, I'm saving all of mine to start using when I'm supposed to go on maternity so my maternity effectively starts 1 month later (I've got 4 weeks holidays saved). Are

SunStruck · 29/05/2020 21:31

Sorry posted a bit too quickly 🤣 are you doing the same with holidays?

LASandOtto · 29/05/2020 22:03

Oh no @SunStruck that makes me so very sad to hear about MrsMGE. I really REALLY had hoped all would be well for her. I know we can relate to how she must feel, to be in this situation again when she had probably just gotten herself to a good place. If she comes back on the thread let me know and I'll message her. I haven't figured out the whole PM thing and imagine she's staying far away from MN for now. I don't blame her.

You've bought loads already 😆😆 but I guess shops are open where you are in the ME? Moses basket I was trying to avoid getting because I had my eyes on a Snuz next to me cot and that can be taken off and used for daytime sleeping. I'm just trying to buy things that have multi purpose as I am worried I'll buy things and baby won't use them/settle in them for naps. I've ordered some clothing bits but also had a look at second hand bundles that have almost new or sometimes even never worn bits for newborn / first month. I think they outgrow clothing so fast, it is something we can probably save on by buying some second hand bits. I know it's not for everyone but I don't really mind. There are some good bargains out there!

Yes, trying to do the same as you. Although I might cave and book a week off if flights resume to Spain, as I really want to see my mum and sister who live there, as they haven't seen me at all and I really miss them. It's been over a half year that I've seen them.

Curious, did you try out the Babyzen Yoyo whilst you tried out prams! In London it seems most have one (as a first of second pram for travelling) and with the newborn pack it can be used from the start. It does look like a toy pram 😂😂

How were work when you told them you were pregnant? How's pregnancy exercise going for you?

SunStruck · 30/05/2020 05:08

@LASandOtto yes I know it's so upsetting about her and of course we can really relate, I'll let you know when I see her again! ❤️

Unfortunately there's not much second hand stuff out here, otherwise I wouldn't have any qualms buying clothes 2nd hand! I've got some starter packs from M&S in newborn size (only one pack
Of each size) as I know they'll grow so quickly. I've got some other cute bits for a bit older, like 3-6 months because we're going back to the UK for Xmas when he's meeting family for the first time so it's important to look handsome 😉😉

In regards to Yo-yo - yes I've tried it on the shop and it's literally like a toy pram 🤣 I would get it for later on for traveling (my cousin has it and highly recommend for traveling)when he's bigger but I wouldn't use that pram as a first pram, it just doesn't seem sturdy enough! And I would like to be able to use the overnight bassinet for when we travel back to the UK at Xmas, I doubt babyzen's is overnight sleep approved??

SunStruck · 30/05/2020 05:59

@LASandOtto sorry missed the last questions! Haha work were very surprised I'm already 5 months pregnant 🤣 but all good! And exercise is going well, still 5 days a week doing weights as well as cardio. Feeling much better than in first trimester so is easier! What about you?

tallulahhulah1 · 30/05/2020 09:50

@LASandOtto haha that's cool! Yay to a girl!
My first is a boy so definitely a whole new era with a girl.

Thanks for the tip for the snoring. Currently I'm using the please sleep on your side or I will have to send you to the next room method. Going to look up what you said.
I do have a pregnant pillow which has definitely helped with back aches. I don't even remember a time where I didn't take up half the bed with it lol

I see you ladies speaking about a pram. Just got mine yesterday. Ended up going for the ickle Bubba v4 stomp travel system. It's quite stylish and sturdy. Plus I live in South London so definitely needed something that would be easy to break down if space for a wheelchair was needed.

What's everyone got planned for the weekend. The weather is definitely showing itself. Despite struggling with the heat at night lol

lockdownpregnancy · 31/05/2020 19:11

Hi Ladies! I've been out for some lovely walks with the dog and DH but had to be early morning or later on in the day as it's not good for the dog. Plus I'm a ginge so the pasty skin and sun does not mix! 😂 I can't be doing with slapping on the SPF when wearing clothes (totally different on holiday of course!) as it just sticks to my skin and makes me even more sweaty, so I'm sticking to the shade or indoors! 😫
Anyone else started chafing? Because I've put weight on (obviously! Now 23 weeks) my thighs are starting to rub together and in this heat it's not good! Had to bust out the talc so I don't end up with a rash! 😂
Looking forward to this week coming as I get to pop and see other people! Contact (not physical obviously 😂) with others besides my DH is very much welcomed!
Who's betting it just rains so we can't meet anyone! Haha! 😝😝

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/05/2020 20:17

@lockdownpregnancy

I’m also a redhead and trying to avoid the sun cream. I hate the stuff but I burn so easily!

In terms of chaffing, I’ve always had that issue. I tend to wear 3/4 leggings or knee length shorts to avoid this. The pain isn’t worth it.

lockdownpregnancy · 31/05/2020 21:41

I haven't got any maternity shorts just leggings and jeans! 😭
I have some maxi dresses but obviously they aren't shorts so I chaff something terrible!
I'll just stick with the talc until I get to a shop 😬
