I'm bleeding

I'm devastated. 5+3 with a much longed for IVF pregnancy and tonight I have lots of period cramps and I've got bright red fresh blood when I wipe. EPU have told me to take paracetamol and come in next Saturday night if this is still going on. My IVF viability scan isn't until April 20th, what am I going to do until then 😢. This is so cruel, I've waited over 4 years to see those lines and I just know in my heart of hearts that this part of my journey is over.

Please tell me I'll be ok 💔

Good luck op

I had ivf and am 11 weeks now I’ve had red pink and brown blood every week and panicked this week as it was read but had a scan and their my baby was bouncing about. It’s hard to feel relaxed especially after ivf but I’ve spoke to so many women who have had ivf and it seems most of them have bled at one point or another. Of course it can go either way but it’s very common. Hope your scan goes well x

Hello ladies, need to offload as trying to hold it together for my OH. I'm 11 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Everything has been fine up to now. Had an 8 week private scan, everything was normal. Heard the heartbeat etc. Then this morning, went to the loo. And on wiping noticed some very light pink tinged CM. It was on and off this morning then to take my mind off it went for a walk and had dinner, sat in the garden. About an hour ago I went to the toilet and now there is more and it's more red than pink. Still only when I wipe. But enough to scare the crap out of me. What do I do? 😢💔

amymel2016 · 08/04/2020 20:12

Good luck OP xx

@MrsC2018 Thank you so much for tagging me in this, it’s definitely reassuring after having another red bleed today 😥

Really hope your scan goes well! x

I had one pregnancy where I literally never had so much as a moments bleeding from the month before I fell pregnant until she was born 10 months later. So when in my next pregnancy I bled when I should have had a period and then for the next FIFTEEN WEEKS, I assumed (not unreasonably due to my previous experience) that the pregnancy wasn’t viable. The bleeding was vivid red and copious and I had period pains and had every sign of being a miscarriage. That pregnancy is now three years old and giving me hell because she won’t go to sleep 😂 🤷🏼‍♀️ It is seemingly totally random as to whether a bleed means a pregnancy is viable or not. I know people who’ve bled and it’s all been over and others like me, who’ve had successful pregnancy in spite of copious bleeding.

I know that’s not the answer you wanted because I wrote a similar post 4.5yrs ago but please know you can bleed loads and bleed red and it be okay. Rest, put your feet up and try not to worry.... as absolutely impossible as that is. Good luck.

What lovely news ❤️ congratulations!! Stay well x

MrsC2018 · 08/04/2020 22:01

@MrsTtobe do you have an EPU or 24 hour midwife you can call? They might see you, mine didn't so I booked a private scan. The advice I was given was to take paracetamol and try and sleep and see what happens. I really hope you and baby and ok and you get your answers soon xx

So pleased you had good news. I bled a lot between 6-14 weeks as I miscarried a twin. When I started bleeding, I had no idea it could have been twins. I think this is more common than I realised at the time.

LillyLeaf · 08/04/2020 22:08

That's great news.

Fantastic news!

fmturn · 08/04/2020 22:27

@MrsC2018 Just wanted to say I came across your post whilst facing my own bleeding scare since Sunday and I was waiting for your update tonight. So happy for you and that everything turned out great for you 😀😀😀! I'm currently toying with a private scan as I have been bleeding since Sunday (only when wiping) and I dont even have a midwife yet so feel very alone. Was planning to hold out for 7 weeks for heartbeat but today am 6+1 - was heartbeat easy to find? Sorry for questions am a ball of worry. X

Windyatthebeach · 08/04/2020 22:38

Congratulations op!!
Some lovely news at this stressful time!!

MrsC2018 · 08/04/2020 22:40

@fmturn I'm so sorry to hear your facing the same, it's terrifying isn't it. They did find the heartbeat straight away, but then I'm very sure of my dates because it's an IVF pregnancy. If you do have a scan and they don't, I'm told it's not always bad news as it depends when the egg met the sperm etc I really hope you find your peace ❤️

Thanks you all so much, it's so lovely how much you've been rooting for me and my little fighter 💪 those of you who understand IVF I'll tell the story of this little embryo;

Last August I started my 3rd cycle of stims having had 4 failed transfers from the last 2 collections. They lowered my dose of medication so when it came to egg collection I was prepared there was only 5-6 follicles 😢 I came round from the sedation to be told that they couldn't get to one ovary as my bowel was in the way and had had to perforate my uterus to get to the other and they had only managed to get 3 eggs out. I then needed antibiotics and couldn't have a fresh transfer. Only 2 of the eggs fertilised and both were frozen on day 1. I've not been able to face having another transfer until February due to the perforation.

They were transferred on Friday the 13th and one is now that little heartbeat 💓

I’m so glad to hear your good news.best wishes.Smile

KoalasandRabbit · 08/04/2020 23:15

Congratulations so happy for you. My DD was a Valentine's Day transfer, so similar date. My bleeding was due to a blood clot in the uterus and continued to week 12 or 13 but she was absolutely fine. Hope pregnancy continues to go well, once you've seen heartbeat odds go up a lot it will be fine.
