Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@LokiCat so sorry you're having a rough day, it's so hard to not worry. I'm glad your midwife was able to reassure you. How many weeks are you now lovely? I didn't get any definitive movements until after I'd had the 20 week scan.

@BabySquid it's so, so lovely!! I quite often stop what I'm doing to ogle them 🤣

@MrsEG glad you were able to log off and look after yourself, you deffo needed it today. I think I'm going to wind things down for Christmas and then just do a tiny bit in Jan so I have some money coming in in Feb. If I knew 100% I'd be getting Mat Allowance I'd be seriously tempted to call it a day at Christmas though 🤣....and you've just reminded me I need to do my pelvic floor exercises 😳

Have a lovely evening everyone! I'm off to drop this cake off and have a slice 🤤🍰 xx

MrsH497 · 18/11/2019 17:28

Oh @LokiCat so sorry you're having a bad day. I hope it all resolves and you can relax a bit. Could you go and see the midwife? How many weeks are you now?

BabySquid · 18/11/2019 17:48

@LokiCat sounds like you're going through the emotions at the moment. Take time for yourself but try not to worry, easier said I know.

@purplefig yeah I stop what I'm doing all the time to watch my belly move haha
Here is an up to date pic... defo had a growth spurt... that and I feel I wasn't this big this morning haha

@BabySquid 😍 just gorgeous! Hi baby 👋🏼

MrsH497 · 18/11/2019 18:01

@BabySquid ❤️❤️❤️ beautiful bump (new look maternity top??!)

BabySquid · 18/11/2019 18:07

@MrsH497 got it in one!

MrsH497 · 18/11/2019 18:57

Haha @BabySquid got exactly the same and love it! Went in today to get some jeans and a coat. Then looked online for more bits! You look fab x

MrsEG · 18/11/2019 19:01

@purplefig I want a slice of the cake!! Wonder if I can get DH to pass by Lidl on the way home from work for some treats... yeah that makes sense; it’s rubbish factoring in the money aspect of things when it comes to mat leave! I do have the option to WFH in Jan also if babies don’t show up early but the idea of having to log on and do anything puts me off so much...! It’s very flexible though and as far as anyone is concerned at work, as of 18 Dec I’m off!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump, looking lovely!

@Tropicana1, helloooo pregnancy twin! Hope your cat is doing better xx I'd be the same if mine was ill... And also, I've already done the crying /laughter thing, but mine was at a TV advert so you're doing better than me! Xxx

@lokicat, how many weeks are you now? Maybe try to get in with the midwife or the hospital tomorrow if you're still worried? Sending a massive hug xxx

@MrsEG, hope you feel better soon. I set up alarms for the pelvic floors, it's the only way to remember!! Xx

So, the scan went well, at 33 and 4 little Homer is just over 4 pounds and they're really pleased 😀 He is still transverse though!! Got another scan in 4 weeks when I'll be 36 and 4; hopefully by then he'll have moved but if he's in the same position, it may mean they try to move him manually... If that doesn't work it could mean extra monitoring and/or a c section. So lots of Ifs right now, so I'm trying to chill and just see what happens. He was proper wriggling though, lovely to see on the screen!

LokiCat · 18/11/2019 21:47

@MrsEG, @MrsH497, @purplefig @BabySquid, @Fivebyfive2 thanks ladies. The spotting has stopped, so feeling slightly better but still worried. I wish we had a TV on our bumps to see what was going on inside!
Unfortunately because my midwife is leaving, she didn't give me a number to contact her. We just have a pregnancy advice line which is supposed to be the first point of call. They said it's not to concerning and only to call back if I start cramping/see fresh red blood. Of course I'm glad it's not got to that, but it would have been nice to be checked out. Just hope these next three weeks till my scan fly by.
I'm 18 weeks tomorrow, so i know it is still early to feel movements, but my brain isn't feeling rational right now 🙈 thank you all for your kind and reassuring words though ❤️

@Tropicana1 your cat is adorable, I really hope he's on the mend soon. I'm a mess when my cats are poorly!

@purplefig ah those wriggling movements must be so amazing to see!

@MrsEG your WFH day sounds divine. I need to get better at doing my pelvic floor exercises, thanks for the reminder!

@BabySquid absolutely gorgeous bump!

@Fivebyfive2 glad your scan went well! Hope Homer has moved in to the correct position by your next scan. Must have been lovely seeing him again.

Also you all posted such beautiful bump photos yesterday, seriously so gorgeous!

Have a good night all ❤️

PippaPug · 18/11/2019 23:49

@purplefig - it’s three days a week (well this week it’s 2 due to my scan but unfortunately means up super early both days to commute into London) I’m feeling a lot more full on then I thought....she asked me to work part time till Feb! I said I don’t think that’s going to happen! How are you?

@BostonFern - can’t believe you don’t have any stretch marks, how lucky! I got four when I turned 12 weeks exactly Hmm and I was not impressed about it! Not long till you’re little one is here!

@MrsR16 - She was beautiful and I’m rather taken by her, can’t remember the last time I held since a new newborn! How are you doing?

@Tropicana1 - How’s your cat doing now? What a horrid worry for you - not what you want at all! I hope she’s on the mend soon Flowers

@LokiCat - I’m sorry about your spotting, however it’s good news they don’t want to see you - they don’t think it’s a issue (even though it’s a worry for you!) would a private scan help you at all? I think I have told you this but I didn’t feel any movements with my two till 20 weeks, I think they were moving around a bit before but I didn’t notice them because I was busy moving around etc I have noticed though that if I have ice cold water they do move around a lot after 10/15 mins - so once you start to feel movement you could try this? It’s not uncommon not to have felt movements at this stage though 😊

@MrsEG - Yes sadly full on - more so then I thought, she’s mentioned about me working in Jan and Feb but I have said no to Feb! Not sure about Jan....I’m wondering if I go down to 2 days a week but even then I’m not sure, struggling to work out how I feel about it all! How’s your pain now, any better? I really want to go swimming soon (although starting to struggle with doing my legs 😂)

@BabySquid - Beautiful baby bump!

@Fivebyfive2 - So glad to hear little homer is dancing away - I hope he turns around for you though!

I’m just coming back from London - full on day but friend was very understanding of me having to sit down quite a bit! Went to the theatre to see Mary Poppins which was fab, babies LOVED it by all the movements I got and some strong kicks as well - my back however wasnt happy with the seats so I think that’s the end of the theatre for me now till they are here!
Only gripe was - what is with all the adults filming the show?! So many people around us got told to put their phones away and I ended up telling a teenager can he please stop texting as all I could see was his bright light catching my eyes - some
People really can’t function without their phones for 2.5 hours!

LokiCat · 19/11/2019 07:16

Morning all. It's so foggy here and the temp was -1 when I left my house! Bundled up in my biggest jumper and Eskimo coat.
Feeling better this morning. Lots of cuddles from DH helped a lot!

@PippaPug thanks lovely. I was talking to DH about it and he suggested the same re private scan. I think we'll see how I feel over the next few days and maybe book one for over the weekend if the worry has got too much.
Might try the ice cold water suggestion, thanks! I do feel like I'm constantly on the move, so I wouldn't be surprised if I missed any small bubbles/popping movements.
Glad you (and babies!) enjoyed the theatre show! I agree with you about people and their phones. I always see the same when at the cinema! I love putting my phone away and just zoning out from the outside world.
Just went back and read about your first day at your new job (congrats on the job!); wow, it is quite full on. Definitely put yourself first and if you think lowering your days will help then I think that's best.

MrsEG · 19/11/2019 07:39

@Fivebyfive2 Yeah I have the Squeezy app which reminds me throughout the day - I’m terrible for dismissing the reminders though 🙈 Glad the scan went well! Babies often don’t flip until the very end, my sister had the same issue. Baby flipped down at 38 weeks. Have you seen then website Spinning Babies? That has lots of advice on encouraging them to move!

@LokiCat In my experience if the midwives aren’t concerned, you shouldn’t be either :) I’ve had two moments of ‘shit is something wrong’ and called the midwives and they talked me right down - they see pregnant women day in, day out so they know what they’re talking about! Don’t worry about movements either - I was told at my 20-week scan that it’s incredibly common for women carrying their first baby to turn up to that scan having felt nothing yet to then watch baby do flips on the screen! They’re still so tiny before then and it takes a while for them to get strong and start punching you :)

@PippaPug Haha, same I really can’t shave my legs anymore - even in the bath it’s a struggle!! I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t care anymore!! Working in to Feb sounds full on - when are you due? Make sure you’re looking after yourself. I can’t believe people were on their phones in the theatre?! You’d get a clip round the head doing that up North!!!

Morning all! Usual aches and pains again this morning. I won’t bore you all with it!! Have to drag myself in to the office today but luckily the Ops team emailed me yesterday to say they are reserving me one of our parking spaces now until I go on mat leave so I won’t have to do any walking. Which is lovely considering it isn’t something I asked for! Have fab days all x

OP posts:
purplefig · 19/11/2019 09:02

@MrsEG sorry to rub it in but the cake was so good!!! Did you get Lidl treats?? If I were you I'd deffo take all of Jan off tbh. Lovely they've reserved you a car spot until maternity leave, that's one less thing to worry about at least. Are you still able to get to yoga?

@Fivebyfive2 google the spinning babies website - some people have great luck moving their babies into a more favourable position themselves with it.

@LokiCat I was feeling super eager to feel movements by 18 weeks too, especially because everyone kept asking!! It will happen soon though, they're just still pretty small at that stage ❤️ will you find out the sex at the scan? It's freaking freezing here too and I haven't even been outside yet 🤣

@PippaPug three days a week sounds good, but the actual work sounds incredibly full on! Will you be commuting for those three days? Glad you enjoyed the theatre, I'm with you on avoiding uncomfy seats though. Also the tech addiction is just so depressing...put it away for 2 hours, it's not a big ask?! 🙄

I've got my 28 week midwife appointment this morning. No other exciting news! X

BostonFern · 19/11/2019 10:37

@Tropicana1 really hope your cat is better soon!

@purplefig I love it when I see baby wiggling away!

@LokiCat hope you're ok today-I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry x

@MrsEG I'm ok thanks, still getting the odd contraction, induction is indeed this week-so hoping these are all good signs baby will be here before the week is out!

@BabySquid lovely bump!

@Fivebyfive2 glad the scan went well-you might want to look at the spinning babies website for some ideas on how to get baby to move.

@PippaPug if I get away without any appearing I'm going to put it down to the oil I'm using every night-Elemis Japanese Camelia oil.

purplefig · 19/11/2019 10:45

@BostonFern oooo I'm so excited for you - you get to meet them this week!! Have you got a my first Christmas outfit at the ready?!? Also apologises if you've said, but I can't keep up 😅, do you know if you're having a girl or boy?

Just back from my 28 week appointment - all good, he or she kicked the midwife while they tried to work out their position! Head down at the mo and bump is measuring normal. I am getting a new midwife as the other one is moving, but I got to meet her and she seems lovely. x

BostonFern · 19/11/2019 11:17

Thanks @purplefig We are expecting a little boy 💙 Yes, we have a couple of Christmas outfits, I've had to restrain myself though or else he'll be wearing nothing but Christmas clothes in December 😂

Great news on your appointment, your baby sounds like mine-he's always kicking the midwife or sonographer!

Lemonysherbet · 19/11/2019 11:45

Just popping in quickly, wanted to say hope you're ok @LokiCat that must have been scary!

Just had our scan, DD 30/5, baby did not want it's photo taken, kept showing us it's bum 😂

Will have a proper catch up later

MrsEG · 19/11/2019 12:35

@purplefig I’m seriously considering making some brownies tonight!! My Lidl treats ended up being a loaf of nice bread as I had a sudden hankering for cheese on toast even though I’d just polished off a Thai green curry
I can still do yoga until for sure 28 weeks and have a mat and blocks to do it at home. I have to get consultant and physio sign off to carry on after that but see the physio next week, so fingers crossed! I am SO BORED of doing nothing!
Hope your midwife appt goes well! Oh just saw your other update. Head down already, good baby! Can they have a word with mine - current breech and transverse 🙃🙈

@BostonFern Come on baby! Sounds like things are really progressing for you! All the very best of luck this week - you’ll meet him so soon!!

@lemonysherbert Glad your scan went so well!

MrsR16 · 19/11/2019 13:47

@Tropicana1 I hope puddy tat's ok!! Beautiful looking thing...

@purplefig isn't it awesome when you can just sit and watch them? I managed to video mine having hiccups the other day 😍😍 great to see your midwife appt went ok and baby's already head down! Obviously a lot can happen between now and then, but mine's been upside down since day dot!

@LokiCat sorry to hear you've been having a rough time! Hope you're looking after yourself xx

@MrsEG I'm very much looking forward to it now! In the throes of handing all my stuff over and my colleagues going "please don't go anywhere, can we call you while you're off!" 😂 Jealous that you were offered a parking space without asking - I had to ask! 😂 although you are suffering much more than I am, so that's absolutely wonderful that you've not got much walking!

@BabySquid beautiful bump picture!! I'll upload one tomorrow when I'm 36(!!!) weeks 😊

@Fivebyfive2 aww I'm glad Homer's doing so well!!

@PippaPug oh wow, I bet Mary Poppins was amazing! Sad that people can't seem to live without their phones though... I'm doing ok, on the countdown to leaving work which is scary but so exciting all at the same time!

@BostonFern I am so unbelievably excited for you!!

@Lemonysherbet amazing that your scan went well! Even if baby was being uncooperative 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 19/11/2019 13:53

Hi lovelies, sorry I disappeared I was freaking out a bit about my scan today - all looks great, baby was nice and stubborn and refused to move 😂 a couple of her measurements were on the lower side but my notes say there's nothing worrying so I'll take it, and the consultant is happy for me to have a vaginal birth wahooooo! I'm having growth scans but I don't mind, another opportunity to see my baby 🥰

Oh @MrsEG brownies 🤤 hopefully they're okay with you carrying it on, it is boring not doing anything! Cheese on toast 🤤 I'm hungry 😂

@Lemonysherbet glad your scan went well too ❤️

Glad your new midwife is lovely @purplefig - what a cheeky baby 😂 if I remember right you mentioned my lipstick in the pic? (This thread moves too fast 😂) it's primark would you believe it!! It's incredible!

Ahh @BostonFern how exciting!! Come on baby!! 💙

@LokiCat it's freezing today isn't it!! Sorry about your spotting - I went for a scan at 18w because I couldn't control my anxiety and it definitely put me at ease. Do whatever you need to to make you feel better, but try not to panic if the midwives think everything is okay ❤️

@Fivebyfive2 glad your scan went well x

@BabySquid look at that bump!! ❤️

Sorry if I've missed anyone!!

Tropicana1 · 19/11/2019 14:28

@MrsH497 @purplefig @BabySquid @MrsEG @Fivebyfive2 @LokiCat @PippaPug @BostonFern @MrsR16 thanks ladies! He is now picking at food, not 100% but seems to be slowly improving. You'd think I'd cope better being able to treat him myself but sometimes I think the more you know the worse it is! Guess it's true when they say doctors make the worst patients but in this case vets make the worst most neurotic pet owners haha!

Loved seeing all your bump pics, here's mine, 33 weeks! Can't believe only 7 weeks to due date, still 6 weeks of work though. Not actually finding it too bad at the moment but I'm wondering if being on my feet all day is actually helping?! Probably bollocks and it will hit me in the next week or so and I'll be full of mat leave regrets haha

BostonFern sounds like it's all exciting for you and won't be long until your baby is here!!

@cupcakesandglitter Glad your scan went well 😊🙌🏻

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!
purplefig · 19/11/2019 16:09

@BostonFern ahhh that's so exciting! TBF if I was due now, I think I'd run a huge risk of the baby having an entirely festive themed newborn wardrobe. Not ideal if it's sibling was born in the summer...!

@Lemonysherbet glad the scan went well!

@MrsEG do you have a fail safe brownie recipe?! Somehow I always manage to f them up. As I said, not a good baker!! Your nice loaf of bread sounds so good...and cheese on toast is a legit post-dinner snack. I know what you mean about the boredom of not doing exercise - I'd only really just started up again and I do really miss it. I just keep thinking it's only for a short while now. Yeah it's good the baby is head down now, but still plenty of time for them to decide transverse or breech is more fun. Hope your two get their heads down, must be so much trickier for them with their brother taking up so much space! Great you can carry on yoga for a good few weeks yet.

@MrsR16 Oh so cute about the hiccups - I haven't felt that yet. I try and get mine on camera, but they are 100% not a performer and it's like they know!! Yeah mine was head down at the 20 week scan too, so hoping they like this position best. Fingers crossed!

@cupcakesandglitter glad the scan went well and they will keep an eye on everything with growth scans. They're so on it these days, it's reassuring. Yes it was me...I'm going to need the details of the primark magic lipstick pretty please!!! Is it a liquid one? I'm already a huge fan of their mascara.

@Tropicana1 glad the kitty is improving and managing to eat more. Your bump looks gorgeous!

I'm off to pregnancy yoga later, which I'm looking forward to as I've been stuck at my desk loads today and my back is just starting to get a bit cross with me.

Also DH and I have decided we're going to Halfords on the weekend and we are not leaving until we come out with a decision re: car seats!! My nan has generously offered to give us some money towards it, but having been to Halfords herself has declared she wants nothing to do with selecting a make or model haha.

If it fits our car, we're leaning towards a maxi cosi with an isofix base as a) it seems to have decent reviews b) it fits our pram c) it can be attached via seat belt tpp, which means if we're ever in someone else's car they don't need a whole separate base d) when they outgrow the 0 - 12 month car seat, we can get a bigger car seat for the same base. But who knows. Has anyone else gone down the maxi cosi route?! x

MrsEG · 19/11/2019 16:33

@MrsR16 Haha turn your phone off at 5pm on Friday and run!! Well, if you’re anything like me - waddle!!

@cupcakesandglitter So pleased to hear all went well at the scan today! Mine are measuring as little bruisers at the moment haha, it really is lovely to have the growth scans though - you’re never waiting long to see them again! When is your next one?

@Tropicana1 Lovely bump! Are you working right through to 39 weeks? Well done you!! If all is feeling well and fine though, then why not! I’m already struggling to walk from my car to the office so it’s a total no-go for me haha! Even 6 weeks now will absolutely fly by for you though :)

@purplefig I know - the biggest issue now really is that they have much less room to manoeuvre so I could do with them getting their heads down fairly sharpish before they get ‘stuck’ the wrong way! Weirdly though, I had a look for the PBC Facebook group - don’t think I found it but I did find a local positive birth group near to me, who are hosting a free Caesarian workshop this weekend. So I think I’m going to go to it, as it’s an option I want to be well prepared for!
My failsafe brownies are always these ones - so easy and SO gooey and delish: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/salted-caramel-brownies
I have won many an office bake off with these bad boys!!
My sister had a Maxi-Cosi seat as it came with her travel system, she had no bother with it at all. Hers was just the ‘baby’ size so she did have to upgrade when her daughter was about 11 months old, but she never had any issues with it at all.

OP posts:
purplefig · 19/11/2019 17:10

@MrsEG OMG they look incredible 🤤 I think you and I are one another's sweet tooth enablers 🤣 and I am 100% down with that. Actually, I have half a tin of caramel left from my cake, (a sign?!?!?) so might have to whip up a small batch of these. What's the ideal time for twins to be in position? Guessing it's going to be a bit earlier than singletons. There's only so much you can do to coax them, and bloody tricky when you've dealing with PGP to be honest. Caesarean workshop sounds fab - like you say it's so worth being prepared. On that note, just looked up PBC on fb and it's a private group which might be why you can't find it. In the digital pack there's a link to it + password. Says you should be approved in 24 hrs. Thanks for the info about maxi cosi - think I'm resigned to having to get a new one at 12 months, as we want one with a handle for when they're a little baby (we only have street parking, for one thing)!
