Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@purplefig sorry lovely I missed your post earlier!! Sorry to hear you're not having a good day! Aw, it's definitely ok to ask DH for more help - mine keeps telling me to go sit down or put my feet up 🙄

@PippaPug I'm 35+1 today, so very close to the end now! Finish work next Friday which is just wonderful! 😊

@MrsEG cross post!! 😂 I'm still waiting! But watching the pooch dream, so that's entertaining me for now hehe! I'm excited for you! Car seats are a huge thing to have 😊 mine is sat in my car in its box still haha!

Morning Ladies! Long time no see!

I deleted MN a while back but wanted to pop by and see how you are! Congrats @thumper59! Beautiful pictures!

Currently 17+5 and waiting for my next scan! Just under two weeks away now.

How are you all?

MrsR16 · 14/11/2019 12:30

@Jessikka great to see you back!! I'm glad you're doing ok 😊

So ladies, the health visitor appt is just as @MrsEG said! Nothing to worry about, some general advice (mine said that some of the advice they have to give is stupid but they have to do it) and the safety questions about how safe you feel in your relationship, etc. Given me her contact details in case we need to ask her anything!

Hey all 😊 happy Thursday!

Thanks all re second hand Snuzpod, looks like we'll probably go with that and buy a new mattress, sheets, etc. It'll definitely help with the budget!

@MrsEG hope all goes well at your appointment today! I imagine it must feel like a lot of the appointments are merging into one.
It is crazy how much everything changes so quickly, can't wait to see the movements as well 😁
Exciting about your car seats!

@Fivebyfive2 ooh nice one starting so early! We don't really do Xmas pressies, but DH's birthday is on the 21st, so I need organise something for him! Debating doing a big hamper with his favourite things along with one main present. Your poor DH and his slippers 😂 I hope your cat is okay!
Wow Dec 13th! That'll be here so soon. Have you got some time to relax before baby arrives?

@cupcakesandglitter I think I'm like 2-3 weeks behind you? Love seeing your updates because I know it'll be me soon that experiences it 😊
I've been having a look at a few parkas on eBay, seen some nice ones so think I'll grab one from there! They all look so cosy.

@PippaPug hope the trial went well today?
Thats good to know, I should hopefully start feeling something in the next few weeks then.

@purplefig oh no, sorry to hear you've had a grumpy start to the morning! I hope your day gets better as it goes on. I'm sure your DH wants nothing more than to keep helping you, but I know what you mean. Especially when you're so used to doing everything for yourself, it takes a while getting in to the habit of asking somebody else to help out!

@MrsR16 glad all went well with the HV! Nice to have some contact details and someone you can turn to for questions!

@Jessikka glad you're doing well! I'm 17+2 today, so pretty close to you 😊

So I think I've got the start of a bump (or some pretty serious boost going on 😂)? It's so surreal but it's put me in the best mood today 😁

How is everyone? I'm still off work but getting there slowly. Think I'm starting to get a little bump at almost 14 weeks!

@MrsR16 Ha I’ve told DH our car seats are staying in their boxes until at least I’m on mat leave! He’s so excited to fit them! Ah I’m so glad the HV appt went well :)

@LokiCat Lovely bump starting there! Oh I see so many people I don’t know whether I’m coming or going!!

@Jessikka Glad all is going well!

@MrsH497 Glad you’re feeling better!

Midwife appointment was all fine, got to listen to both heartbeats and they were really nice and strong - both different still; twin 2 (the one that’s always wriggling and doing somersaults on scans) is that bit faster! Doesn’t surprise me given he never stays still! I got a bit grumpy though as she commented on how big I am, not in a nasty way but a ‘The woman I had before you is 34 weeks and she isn’t as big as you’ kinda comment. I know I’m massive and I carry every sodding ache and pain with it too, so it bothered me a bit. I’m probably being really over-sentimental about that though! But all was sounding good, my blood pressure was fine etc. I don’t have another appt now for 3 whole weeks, won’t know what to do with myself haha!

Oh @MrsEG every pic you've put up I just love your bump and you're growing 2 amazing little people!

Our little one was a wriggler and somersaulting when we had our 12 week scan. Still the highlight was hearing that heartbeat I burst into tears when I heard it. Not been sick now for a whole week the longest I've been!

@PippaPug thanks for your commiserations! I got DH to do up my walking boots on Sunday as well. Actually, I didn't: I burst into tears and he came over and did them up while the dog gave me a snuggle. Honestly, sometimes I just feel like such a drip with pregnancy!! Sorry nobody spotted your BoB badge on the overground until you nearly fell over, that's so bad. Urghhh and having SAD must suck. Sorry if you get asked this all the time - but do you take a vit d supplement? The NHS advise everyone in the UK takes one now between Oct - March and, anecdotally at least, I've heard people say it makes a huge difference. But yeah, sometimes the constant rain is just bloody depressing! Where are the crisp autumnal mornings at?!?! I had heard about the car seat thing, seems bonkers. Did you go for the Joie ones in the end?

@MrsEG I feel bad moaning to you when you've got two of them in there taking up space!! It's just the dawning realisation that it's only going to get worse until the baby gets here now that got to me this morning. And I like to think of myself as quite an independent person, so it's taking some getting used to having to get DH to help with stuff. And like you, I really miss my dog walks too. Still get out some days with him, but not if my back is really bad. We're mostly just having a laugh about it all, but I just woke up fed up today. Really sorry to hear you're still struggling with sleep, that can't be helping at all. Also really glad it's not just me that's checked out of work. I mean, I can't really as I'm self-employed and have deadlines up until Christmas, but I definitely am doing the bare minimum! Urgh what on earth did the midwife say that to you for? How is that in anyway helpful?!!? FWIW I think your bump always looks gorgeous and you look like a glowing twin mum to be! Enjoy your three weeks off from the medical establishment I say Grin.

@MrsR16 I totally know rationally that it's fine to ask for help, but bloody societal conditioning and my own stupid brain are hard to get past some times.

@Jessikka glad everything is going well!

@LokiCat look at that bump (definitely a bump)! Just gorgeous. Thanks - I've cheered myself up by reminding myself I'm lucky to have a DH who cares so much and is actually willing to do more than his fair share of labour. Though given I'm growing a human, it's actually probably quite a fair division of labour Grin

Sorry for my moody start to the thread today! I've cheered up considerably and though it sucks, I'm glad I'm not alone in struggling to come to terms with my rapidly diminishing ability to do things like tie my own shoes laces up Grin.

For anyone struggling with their back at a desk job, if it's possible could you give a standing desk a go? I've had mine for 2 years and to my great shame am only just using the standing function...but my back is SO MUCH BETTER than when I'm sat down all day. You can rig up a pretty rudimentary system with stacking boxes on top of a normal desk if you have a laptop + keyboard.

In other news, our pushchair has arrived today! We've gone for the single Out N About Nipper. Ridiculously excited to put it up (though the cat will be straight in there....)

@PippaPug feeling better today Thankyou! I didn't sleep until 7am this morning so running low on energy but otherwise feeling better (and hungry) 😂 I am LOOOOOVING dairy right now 😂 how was your trial? Were the tubes okay? X

@purplefig same 🤤🤤 have you tried the orange twirls? Can't get my hands on one!! Sorry to hear about your mood, are you feeling better now? The weather is awful and doesn't help at all 😩

@MrsEG that makes sense! The wallpaper stickers should definitely stick to the wallpaper - could you try it on a sample piece? Only thing I'd consider is maybe if you peel them off it could take the paper off with it?

@LokiCat im 19 + 5 today so you're about 2 and 1/2 weeks behind me which isn't much at all! That's a definite bump!! Welcome to the club 😂🤰🏻

@MrsH497 nice to hear yours is on the way! Mine was literally nothing one day and then just popped 😂 fingers crossed your sickness stays away!!

MrsEG · 14/11/2019 18:57

@MrsH497 It’s fab to see on the scan isn’t it?! Less so at 20 weeks though when she was trying to get all his measurements and readings and he would not stay still at all haha! So glad the sickness is easing off for you!

@purplefig Moan away! We’re all in the same boat! Yep, I totally get it - only going to get bigger, it’s only going to get harder. I worry about fitting behind the steering wheel, getting in and out of the bath, etc. I really have to remind myself at times it’s all temporary and for the greater good - to make our babies! Yeah, I really don’t know why the midwife said it, it was in a very casual ‘making conversation’ way but it just makes you a) feel like and elephant and b) wonder ‘am I too big?! Is this okay?’ Yay on the pushchair!! The puncture kit for ours arrived today so I feel primed and (quite literally) ready to roll with it now!!

@cupcakesandglitter Yeah I may try and read up on a couple of reviews first before I take the plunge! Seen some lovely ones though! Haha enjoy the dairy - I went through a massive cheese phase!!

Evening all!

Can’t believe it’s nearly the weekend; work is flying over and definitely not enough hours in the day!

I’ve been having a particularly pregnant day today - bump feels massive and I’ve fought back crying over trivial stuff 3 times.
Wonderful!!

How are we all?

DH and I are going shopping with my mother tomorrow night for baby things. Wish me luck!

@LokiCat - gorgeous bump!! How are you feeling?

@purplefig - sorry to hear you had a rubbish start to the day. I was definitely with you! Be kind to yourself; you’ve got a LOT going on, physically and emotionally to prepare for a baby!

@MrsEG - I’m pleased the midwife appointment went well apart from the ridiculous comment she made to you.
Everyone is different; it’s like saying “she’s not as tall as you” Yep, and...? It’s irrelevant.
You always look gorgeous, so don’t let anyone make you question yourself!

@MrsH497 - congratulations on making it a week without being ill! It’s definitely a milestone 😊

@BostonFern - how you doing? I hope all is well!

@PippaPug @MrsEG and everyone else I’ve forgotten to tag in the monitor suggestions! I’ve put a couple in my basket for Black Friday so we’ll see what the final prices are!

Might be enjoying this cold Thursday night with a hot Belgian waffle!! I hope you’re all having a lovely evening!

@MrsH497 I'm glad you're taking the time to look after yourself and not worry about work, lovely! 14 weeks already?!? Wow!!

@MrsEG that's rubbish that she commented on bump saying you're big! We have enough problems to deal with without feeling like a 🐳 as well... ooh! 3 weeks! 😂 you just take it easy with all this spare time you'll have hehe

@purplefig I feel you with the stupid brain... I am being so dumb at the moment it's unreal! I'm so glad you've had a better day than you thought you were going to! 😊

@ELW85 I'm not entirely sure where this week has gone! Bring on next Friday when I finish work! Haha!

Good plan @MrsEG there are some beautiful ones out there!! I missed your update about the midwife earlier, I think that's a really horrible thing to say tbh! I know she probably didn't mean it in a horrible way but then what's the need to compare?! I don't think that's appropriate at all, don't they know we feel conscious as it is?! X

Ooh @ELW85 that sounds fantastic 🤤 Good plan re the monitors, I may do the same! X

@MrsR16 one week to go!!!! How exciting 😁😁

MrsEG · 14/11/2019 22:26

@ELW85 enjoy the waffle! Which monitors have you got saved out of interest?? Think I’ve narrowed it down to a Motorola and a baby-moov but I’m very indecisive!!

@cupcakesandglitter @MrsR16 @ELW85 thanks ladies I’m so glad you agree it was a weird thing to say, I couldn’t really decide if I was being over-emotional about it. Have spent the evening celebrating the bump instead and utilising it as a mug shelf :)

Heartburn is kicking my butt tonight, feel like I’m on fire from my belly up to my throat - babies clearly are not fans of omelettes!! Thank god for my chewable Gaviscon (thanks @MrsR16!!)

Hi ladies, happy Friday!! Hoping for a quiet day at work (there's been mucho drama lately!) then we're off out to dinner tonight 🙂 Christmas shopping tomorrow as well, can't wait 🎄

So at NCT we covered c sections, bathing the baby and the first couple of weeks after birth. Really looking forward to the feeding class next week. Oh and the couple who had their baby last week (at 32 weeks!) We're there! Their little girl is in the hospital but doing really well 😀

Anyone got weekend plans?

Report
purplefig · 15/11/2019 09:42

@cupcakesandglitter um, no, I'd never even heard of orange twirls until now...!!!! I'll keep my eyes peeled for one this weekend...

@MrsEG you're exactly right - I just needed to reset my mindset. It's only for another 12 ish weeks and at the end of it we get a baby...and you get TWO Grin!!! But yes, the struggle is real re: getting out of the car. We have a pretty high roll top bath so I'm not sure how that's going to go...DH has already said he'll be on standby to hoist me out bahahaa. Yes it seems really unthinking of the midwife to say that unless it was for a valid reason, which it obviously wasn't or she would have said so. I bloody love the nipper...so easy to put together and use. Great idea getting the puncture kit ahead of time. The couple we bought the secondhand carry cot off of said that it's the best pushchair ever, the only issue is the punctures so best to get the kit. Also: will be trying my bump shelf tonight!!! Amazing Grin

@ELW85 hahaa I know what you mean about having particularly pregnant days. Tbh I'm impressed you managed to hold back the tears - that's good going! Your shopping trip sounds lovely - what are you hoping to pick up? Thanks for the kind words - I just had a bit of a wobble. Sorted myself out now and feeling much brighter thankfully! Also thanks: now I want a Belgian waffle. 9.30am isn't too early, right?!

@MrsR16 Haha oh go easy on yourself, I was reading a pregnancy book yesterday which explained how the brain actually temporarily changes during pregnancy (hence we're typically more forgetful etc.). On the one hand, we don't talk about it because we don't want women to be seen as 'less than'. But on the other hand, it's doing us a disservice as it's real and for a pretty important reason!

@Fivebyfive2 are you enjoying NCT? We start our class at the end of the month - I think it's the essentials one as it's over 3 days, but hoping to get lots out of it.

Happy Friday everyone! What's everyone's weekend plans? I'm going Christmas shopping with my mum tomorrow and then we're staying at a fancy pants hotel for the night which I am very much looking forward too (100% leaving my pregnancy pillow in the car in case I need it though)!! Then on Sunday having a quiet one pottering / food shopping / meal prep etc. And then...I'll wake up in the third trimester Shock. Have a good one all! x

Report
MrsEG · 15/11/2019 13:09

@Fivebyfive2 Sorry to hear about the work drama!! Oh how lovely the couple popped in - I bet they’ve had a whirlwind few weeks!! Enjoy the Christmas shopping!

@purplefig Can’t recommend the tea shelf enough haha, especially now I can’t reach forwards to the coffee table! I’ve already had to have DH pull me out of the bath once - I maintain I’d have gotten there, but it was on a particularly bad PGP day and I was trying to manoeuvre myself in all manner of positions to get out so swallowed my pride and called him up - I was on my hands and knees in the water like HALP! Yep the puncture kit is cheap too! We got all three bits, again on recommendations from others - I forget now but it’s a puncture kit, wheel pump and then some kind of yellow goo?! I’ll take a pic later when I’m home!!! We ordered it all directly from their site and it arrived the next day. How is your back feeling today?

Happy Friday all! Picking up the rug and curtains for the nursery today, and going to Ikea for shelves tonight. It’s all coming together! Have been struggling to decide where to put the cots so they aren’t too close to the radiator but think we’ve sussed it now. Extremely boring weekend ahead other than that - yoga tomorrow, dog walk Sunday - other than that, Netflix and snoozing!

@cupcakesandglitter I am so unbelievably excited to finish work, even more so because my boss is in a foul mood today! I won't miss having to work out what mood she's in first thing in the morning to determine how I can talk to her for the rest of the day! 🙄

@MrsEG I'm glad I'm not the only one who balances stuff on bump! 😂 baby then gets very cross and tries to bop whatever I've got on there off. Boring weekends are good! You won't have many of them left! 😊

@Fivebyfive2 that sounds as though you had a great class! Awesome to hear that the little un's doing ok even though she was super early!

@purplefig I've had issues (not that many weeks ago) where my "baby brain" was blamed for stuff that was completely out of my control! Group of young(ish) lads who have no concept of growing up just yet, even though one of them is married! Idiots... you enjoy your hotel stay!!

Hopefully my nursery carpet's being fitted this afternoon! Can't wait to see it 😊 (such an adult thing to get excited about, I know...)

@MrsR16 sorry to hear that, that's so unfair. Unfortunately I honestly think it's rubbish like that that means women feel like they can't alter their normal behaviour whatsoever in pregnancy, for fear of being seen as weak / incompetent etc. Patriarchal BS. Oh don't get my started on my favourite topic...I'm great fun at parties as you can imagine Grin. Let us know how the carpets look!

@MrsEG And I missed your bit on the car seat arrival! Have you put them in yet? We still need to double check the pushchair will fit in the car. (It'd fit in the boot easy, but that's normally where the dog goes)! Ooo you're so on it with the nursery - what colour curtains and rug have you gone for? Your weekend sounds lovely and restorative. Glad to know I'm not alone with the bath help Grin, but hey, it's really the least they can do. Ooo I'll take a look at the three extras and get them ordered ASAP. My back is OK today thanks, been at my standing desk all day and finally sat down and it's started aching almost right away - so I've got a hot water bottle on it which is pretty magical. How's your PGP? Is your physio an ongoing thing btw?

Hi ladies, how we all doing for a Friday? I've just been for my midwife check up, and she looked at the results from my GTT last week, turns out I have gestational diabetes and the hospital didn't even call me!! Has anyone on here got/had it?
Just what I wanted to hear after the week I've had at work.
@MrsEG just had a quick scroll and saw your picture, love the tea shelf! I may have to give that one a try, although little one likes to kick quite strongly so not sure it'd last haha
Any plans for the weekend? My parents moved to near Durham last month and we've not yet been to their house, we were off up tomorrow, looking forward to a nice walk.
