Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

Thanks ladies for all your lovely messages. I hope I'll be able to manage it, it was just the shock of it all that really got to me last night.
I'm so glad I have you ladies here to share with, makes it so much easier to let things out!

@Lemonysherbet ah I'm so sorry you've still got the sickness! I hope it does stop for you soon.
I am trying to understand that it isn't anything I could have done, rather something some woman are just prone to getting. Thank you 💕

@MrsH497 glad to hear all was okay with your little one. Definitely best getting it checked out!

@PippaPug I'm hoping her tips tomorrow will help and when I share my worries with her, hopefully she'll be able to reassure me. It is good that we get extra monitoring, as well.
That's crazy that your friends have asked you to plan your c-section around times which are easy for them 🤦🏻‍♀️ what's best for you and babies is definitely a lot more important! I don't blame you for wanting to tell people a week later.
Sorry it's been causing you to feel pressure!
Glad to hear your scan went well and you're feeling more open minded about the c-section!

@MrsEG oh you look absolutely gorgeous, that bump is amazing!! Glad you were able to get some fresh air with the dog walk.
Thank you, that is reassuring. I think I was blaming myself a lot last night but I'm feeling better today.
How exciting that your sister is also thinking of trying again! That'll be lovely having another baby close in age to yours :)

@purplefig I think that's what frustrated me a lot as well. I was finally at a point where I was calm and really enjoying my pregnancy and then to get this news was quite a blow.
I'm glad your DH agrees with you and let them know. It's unfortunate that they're put out by it, but your comfort is a lot more important than what they want. Hopefully they'll come around and see it from your side!

@MrsR16 ahh that sounds so amazing (apart from the sick and poop 😂). It must all be so worth to get all the cuddles and seeing his cute face 🥰

@cupcakesandglitter oh no, I'm sorry to hear about the GD for you as well. I'm really scared about it not going away after as well.
I've got my appointment tomorrow so will defo share anything the midwife tells me. I'm sure we'll get each other through it (we're also so close with our due dates as well!) ❤️❤️
I haven't been told about my birth options yet, but will ask tomorrow. Hopefully both our little girls will be here healthy and safely.
How amazing that you could tell who she resembled in the scan and to know she was a spitting image of you! Must have been so nice to see!

On my way home from work. Planning a chill evening - gonna make myself a stir fry (lots of veg and protein!) and have a nice bath to calm myself.
Handed my maternity dates in today; 27th March is my last day, 10 weeks and counting!! Also have a week off mid Feb, so that'll break it up! It can't come quick enough 😁

ELW85 · 16/01/2020 18:00

Evening all

I’m still beyond tired and have started designing my hand over pack for work.
DH and I ended up in the MAU this morning as little one skipped his morning rampage so I was absolutely terrified. It wasn’t reduced movement; he didn’t move at all.
Hooked up for ages and it all appears ok but it gave me a real scare.

@purplefig - I’m pleased DH has spoken with them. They can be as put out as they want, but realistically they’ve done this to themselves. Assumptions will land them in situations like this and you have to put your own little family first!

@MrsEG - you look absolutely wonderful! It must have been so nice to get out for a little walk?

@MrsH497 - so pleased everything was fine with little one. It’s so true that you’ll be amazed at the change in movements from 24 weeks, and then the time basically flies by in a flurry of movements. From what I’ve read, they’ll increase until 32 weeks and then stay consistent until labour.

@LokiCat - I totally get why everything feels awful, especially when DH is away. We’re here for you though, and I know it will all be absolutely fine for you and little one.

@cupcakesandglitter - I’m pleased you had a lovely scan! Can’t believe I’ll be 31 weeks on Saturday. It’s flying over isn’t it?

@MrsR16 - Ethan is gorgeous! You can totally see his little personality in that adorable face. You must be so happy 😊

MrsEG · 16/01/2020 18:21

@ELW85 I bet it feels good getting the handover started! How much longer do you have? I’m so bad at keeping track of how far along everyone is on the thread!
Sorry you had a scare this morning, and I’m so pleased all is well. If it helps in any way, mine often have a quiet morning or evening where I’m wondering where they’ve gone, especially these last few weeks. I was sent this link which I really like and really reassures me on some reasons they can go quiet - I definitely (since reading this) have noticed if I’ve not had enough to eat or drink they don’t move as much, and if I’ve felt a bit stressed or had a particularly bad night/zero sleep. Obviously the MAU are there for a reason and if something just feels wrong always always go in; but I’ve found a few of these tips so helpful. Some mornings I’ve woken up, they’ve been quiet and I’ve genuinely had a bottle of Fanta for breakfast and hey presto, they’re off again!
I have found tracking movement by far the most stressful part of pregnancy though, for sure.
www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/monitoring-baby-movements

@LokiCat 27 March isn’t far off at all! When are you due? Oh yes, definitely don’t beat yourself up/blame yourself at all - GD can happen to anyone and it isn’t anything you’ve done at all. Enjoy that stir fry!

@MrsR16 I so wish I’d thought to take a weekly bump photo; I’ve done mine so at random and loads of them are just awful ones in the bedroom mirror too! Will be asking DH to try and get a few good ones these next 2 weeks to look back on! Ahh how lovely she’s having a surprise - not long to go until you find out if your guess of boy is right!

OP posts:
purplefig · 16/01/2020 19:21

@MrsR16 cheers for the reassurance lovely!

@MrsEG I will do - they're discussing it tonight. Commence phase 1 of back bone acquiring! Ooo I never think to look in Morrisons as our local one doesn't haven't much, but I quite rate the odd supermarket bargain. Their baby stuff tends to be pretty cute too.

@LokiCat that makes total sense that it feels like a blow. But you seem like you've got a fab attitude and great that you and cupcakesandglitter can support each other through it. Enjoy your stir fry and bath. So exciting maternity leave isn't that far away at all!

@ELW85 so sorry to hear about your scare and glad everything is ok. Like MrsEg said, if mine is ever being suspiciously quiet I'll have a can of cold, fizzy, sweet something and that normally sends them nuts. Also re: movements staying the same from 32 weeks, that's not been my experience. I've found the bigger the baby gets, the less wriggle room they've got and so movements feel duller than before. I asked my MW about it this week and she said that's totally normal, but if ever in doubt ring! When are you off on mat leave? Very exciting!!

Right I'm off for a cup of tea, a twirl and catching up on The Trial of Christine Keeler. Have a good evening all x

MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 19:44

@LokiCat it really is worth every second of the pants moments, all the sleep deprivation, etc etc! Especially when he smiles, which he's just started doing 😍 as an aside, no-one spoke to me about my birth options until I was in active labour! 😂

@ELW85 that's such a relief that everything's ok! Good on you for going to get checked! And yes, his personality's developing more and more every day! He's a cheeky little monkey for sure!

@MrsEG all of mine were awful bedroom pictures! 😂 but I didn't care much!

@purplefig you can have all the reassurance you want! It's horrible to feel as though you have to entertain pretty much as soon as you've popped this baby out!

ELW85 · 16/01/2020 20:43

@MrsEG - oh don’t worry, I can’t keep up either! I’ve got about 8 weeks left at work. It’s really flying over.
Thank you so much for posting that link! He’s been quiet today, so it’s really good to hear that everyone else just experiences quiet days too.
Pregnancy is such a terrifying and beautiful time simultaneously, it can get quite intense at times, so I’m really pleased we have each other!

@purplefig - thank you lovely, and thanks for posting the advice from your MW too. It makes sense that they have less room to move, so it’s lovely to have a heads up on that!
8 weeks left at work and I realised today I’m nowhere near slowing down and that really has to change.
How’s your last week been?

@MrsR16 - thank you 😊 he looks like a cheeky little monkey but in the most perfect of ways! Can’t wait to meet our little boy now.
Imagine if we all compared our photos now and then when they turned teenagers; it would be insane to see them all grown up like that, and we would be like “I remember when I was complaining to these ladies that you were giving me terrible nausea at 13 weeks” 😂

MrsH497 · 16/01/2020 21:19

@ELW85 totally agree I love having you ladies around. Reassures me everything is normal and ok!

Larrydavid · 16/01/2020 23:37

Hello! Hope you've all had a good week. This week has been a bit odd. I was wiped out for days from stupid headaches. It finally lifted today and I decided to pack for amsterdam and have realised that I've lost my passport 🤦🏻‍♀️ Have turned the house upside down looking for it. I feel a bit disappointed that I've spent so much money on flights and hotel but have accepted that if I haven't found it today, it's probably not here. I last had it on my way back from a trip where I'd just found out I was pregnant so probably left it in a cab or something! Boyfriend is still going to go as there was a group of us going and it would be a shame for both of us to miss out - I'm going to have a quiet weekend at home, I'm almost looking forward to it now I'm over my initial disappointment!

@LokiCat I'll ask the midwife for the triage number. I don't have that. Felt like a bit of a plum calling up for a headache luckily it's finally lifted! Must be tough having you DH away so much. Not long til Jan is over! sorry about the GD - and anxiety in pregnancy is the worst BUT every time something is found, at least you know you're then in the best hands and being monitored properly. It would be worse to not know. Hope you're ok.

@Lemonysherbet I half want to find out when I read about everyone's 20week scans and gender reveals! I've had a rough week - my headache wiped me out and I fell pretty behind with workstuff but am feeling much better now thanks! I also haven't booked NCT or really organized anything. I think it's taken nearly 19 weeks to get my head around being pregnant! You have plenty of time.

@purplefig I'm definitely going to book onto some pregnancy yoga. I've been doing lots of other fitness classes and I'm always heavily modifying now - it'll be nice to go to a class where someone does all that modifying for you! How exciting you're organizing birth plans. I remember reading about your TTC shakes on the other board, doesn't feel like that long ago! I'm a bit late to this but regarding your family - I'd just say you'd obviously love to see them at some point but can't make any commitments. I'd keep it very casual and non committal.

@MrsEG Thanks for the advice. There's no triage number on my notes but there are a few others listed. I just wasn't sure my headache was serious enough but I'll defs call next time as I've been a bit useless all week with it! Your bump looks so great! Well done on getting out on dog walks - I think I'll be curled up on the sofa post 30 weeks!

@ELW85 Good luck with the flexible work requests! Stretching pains have been very intense this week. I filmed all day on Monday and I seem to stick my belly out to balance the camera (😂), I swear by the end of the day I had gained a couple of inches round my waist! What are you doing with your week off?? We're only allowed to watch a video of our birthing centre - no real life visits! Sorry about your scare - hope everything is ok now.

@MrsR16 Ethan is so lovely. I hope motherhood is treating you well.

@MrsH497 Glad you got some reassurance and that all is well in the bump!

@cupcakesandglitter Ahhh how exciting that you could see a resemblance in the scan. Scans are amazing! Sorry about GD. Hope you're doing ok.

@PippaPugGlad you're feeling better about the potential c section.

MrsEG · 17/01/2020 08:48

@purplefig Agreed, love a good supermarket clothes bargain! Is the Christine Keeler snow any good? I’ve been watching that White House Farm one, and also started the new David Tennant too - I forget the name. I’m basically watching everything! Hope you enjoyed the Twirl - have you tried the chocolate orange ones? Game changer!

@MrsR16 I think if I had a nicer bedroom with a decent mirror I wouldn’t care nearly as much haha! It so badly needs redecorating but the nursery had to come first!

@ELW85 Don’t worry at all. I definitely have quiet days and have just found little tips that seem to wake them up again! And have managed to look in to bits like on that link and think ‘They're quiet this morning - but I was up 5 time’s in the night so I guess that’s thrown their own sleep pattern off’ etc. I’d also completely echo what purplefig said in that I haven’t found the ‘movements remain the same from 32 weeks’ advice true at all - as mine get bigger the movements are much less pronounced/ jabby, and more movements up and down, rolls across the belly etc. Midwife again said to me this is perfectly normal. Absolutely minefield though! It’s learning to trust that motherly instinct while they’re still in utero!

@Larrydavid Oh you poor thing!! DH lost his passport recently coming back from a rugby tour in Dublin so I reckon it could be anywhere haha! Hope you manage to enjoy your spontaneous quiet weekend! Definitely grab the triage number - they’re worth their weight in gold when you have a panic about something in the middle of the night. I used to get terrible headaches, for me though I think I was always just a bit dehydrated- even now I can’t really stick plain water and have loads of juice instead!

Happy Friday all! Took me a while to figure out what day it was haha, mat leave is worse than the Xmas break for losing all track of time! I have no plans at all today but might try and small walk again as the swelling in my legs and feet is really bad again today.
Another of our NCT group is in hospital as of last night after her waters broke! Sounds like a slow labour as no real contractions yet but looks like we have another baby on the way to join the group!! It’s all so exciting!

OP posts:
purplefig · 17/01/2020 09:27

@MrsR16 cheers lovely! It's a mindset thing really, isn't it? I just need to let go of any obligation to entertain.

@ELW85 No problem at all! Oh my goodness, 8 weeks is nothing - so exciting Grin. I've definitely felt the need to slow down (in quite a big way) over the last few weeks and now if I overdo it I really can feel it in my back etc. My yoga teacher was saying your body does let you know when you're doing too much and I've found (if I'm paying attention) that's so true. I think there's this pressure to not be seen as less than capable 'just' because we're pregnant, but when you think about the mammoth effort our bodies are undertaking (combined with disturbed sleep and all the other fun side effects) it really is little wonder we need to slow down in other areas.

@Larrydavid sorry to hear about your headaches, they are so horrible to deal with especially when all you can take is paracetamol. Rubbish about your misplaced passport too - though I'm happy for you that you've been able to re-frame it as a nice relaxing weekend to yourself. Good on you for sticking to your exercise classes...I was straight on to pregnancy stuff from 12 weeks haha Grin . Oh my goodness, I remember the fertility smoothies all too well...actually really tasty!

@MrsEG I started the Christine Keeler one really excited because we've been to Cliveden and I find that period of history so interesting but...it's just quite dull in all honesty. It's about one event but it's dragged out over 6 episodes; I feels like it needs a brutal edit. And I don't think the main actress is particularly great. I'm quite tempted to give up. Is the White House Farm one any good? It'd be too frightening for me at the moment...I am a complete and utter wimp these days. I keep looking for orange twirls but I don't think they've made their way this far south west yet!!! Enjoy your day of relaxing - do you find walking helps with the swelling? So exciting about your NCT group expanding! Not long until your two significantly bump up the numbers Grin

It's my last day of work today and I am so ready to be on mat leave now. I'll be 37 weeks on Monday, but hoping the baby stays put for at least a few weeks. (Sure I'll regret saying that if I go super overdue).

Any exciting weekend plans? We're going to nip into town for some coffee and to pick up a few last minute bits (including labour snacks). Then I'm 10000% finishing off my hospital bag. We're also taking the dishwasher out (that hasn't worked ever since we moved in) ready for a new one to be installed next week. I am embarrassingly excited for it! Then Monday I'm meeting up with our NCT group as 2 out of 6 of us have got babies - so exciting Grin x

LokiCat · 17/01/2020 10:21

Morning ladies 😊 happy Friday!
I'm just on my way into work after my midwife appointment at the diabetic clinic! I feel so much better after seeing her. It does seem quite manageable. I thought I'd have to cut out carbs completely, but as long as I'm having a small portion of carbs with a lot of protein, then I should be ok. They're going to see me every two weeks and I've been given two numbers and an email address if I need to contact them in between. Just like you all said, it wasn't anything I did to cause it, it was just something I was more likely to get for whatever reason. She also said that as long as the levels stay normal I should be able to stick with my plan to go to the birth centre. However if I need to be induced (as you can't go over 40+5/if the levels stay high) then it'll be in the labour ward, which I'm happy with. So thanks to all you ladies as well for calming me down before I went into my appointment; I feel I can get through this now! ❤️❤️

@ELW85 that must have been so scary yesterday. I'm glad to hear all is okay with your little one and you were able to be checked out straight away.
Mine recently switched from going wild late night to having a party in the morning/evening instead, which panicked me at first. She does have her quiet moments, as well. They really do know how to scare us! I've just added the premium part to the Pregnancy+ app, which lets me track her kicks/movements, so it's useful to go back and see her movement history for the day if I need some reassurance.

@MrsEG I'm due 21st April, so I'll be almost 37 weeks when I go off on maternity leave, which will hopefully give me some time to relax/nest before she arrives!
The midwife today mentioned having Greek yoghurt and fruits/nuts, as well, made me think of what you said about your friend.
How exciting that your NCT group is getting bigger! I hope the walk is able to relieve some of your swelling!

@purplefig thank you, that's so lovely of you to say. I sort of gave myself a kick and said there's no point just being down about it, it's just another hurdle to cross to meet the little one, which will be worth it in the end.
Happy last day of work!! You don't have long left before meeting your baby, so excited for you. Have you got much planned for your maternity leave?
Ah I was going to ask you how you found the Christine Keller series as I keep debating about starting it, but that's disappointing that it's just dragging on.

@MrsR16 ahhh how amazing. Seeing his smile must make you feel so fuzzy 🥰🥰
Haha yeah I do get the feeling most birth plans should be 'go with the flow' as you never know how it's going to turn out!

@Larrydavid I ended up finding ours on the hospital website as the midwife hadn't given me the number either. Don't feel silly about calling up about any worries. They're really great for giving you the most reassurance and I'm sure they'd rather you call them up instead of sitting their panicking! Glad to hear the headaches have subsided though. So sorry to hear you've possibly lost your passport! A nice relaxing weekend does sound lovely as well :)
You're completely right about having the extra monitoring; it is so much better that they have caught it and can now move forward with managing it.

So happy it's the weekend! I'm looking forward to getting some time to relax with DH.
Hope you all have a brill Friday xx

cupcakesandglitter · 17/01/2020 12:24

Aww @mrseg not that long until they're here and you get to see them for yourselves - 2 WEEKS!!!!It will be interesting to see who they look like, im so excited for you because you're so so close. Also how do you still look so fantastic 😂 that's an impressive bump! Am I right in thinking they're non identical? Sorry I can't remember if I've already asked this before 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thankyou 💕 definitely starting to feel a bit calmer about it, as long as she's safe that's all that matters to me!

Aww @MrsR16 what's one day though when you have such a well behaved one usually 🥰 glad he's everything you expected, I can't wait until we all know how that feels!!

Ooh yes @PippaPug when we bought the house we knew it'd need work doing (plus I love interior design so would've redecorated even if it didn't 😂) but I'd rather get building work out of the way now so by the time she's here there's no lingering dust/loud noise. Really want to be able to stay home and use my own kitchen 😂 my next app is on Tuesday with the diabetic clinic, don't actually have one booked with the midwife but hoping she'll contact me with one soon! How did your scan go? X

@purplefig it'll definitely be worth it - I'm quite lucky that I can barely do much so DH is having to do a lot of the tidying/sorting etc 😂 our kitchen is dreadful though!! I'll upload a pic of what we think we're going for. We won't know for definite until the building work is done but I think it makes the most of the space 😊 oh it's so surreal!! I had goosebumps, because the midwife was so zoomed in to take her head measurements it was perfectly timed and meant we could see her features so clearly!! Shame we don't get any pictures with growth scans but we've booked a 4D one to see her again 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ how're you feeling? You're getting super close too!!! Also please don't feel guilty at all! This is your baby and ultimately it's yours and DH's decision and you need to do what's best for the both of you x

@lokicat So pleased your appointment went well, and glad you've got more info about it. Great news too about the carbs 😂😁 hopefully with your fingers pricks you'll be able to see what works/doesn't for you and it'll become routine x

@elw85 definitely flying!! Ooh yes handover work is super exciting!! We've not got long left at work at all! Sorry to hear you were in hosp but I'm glad everything seems okay with little one. How has he been since? X

Happy Friday everyone!! I'm one more week away from 30 weeks and I'm SO EXCITED!!! THE END IS NEAR!!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!
MrsR16 · 17/01/2020 13:11

@ELW85 I think that's an awesome idea! Can you even imagine what kind of technology we'll have then?!?

@Larrydavid thank you! Motherhood is good! Exhausting, as everyone knows and expects, but it's just so awesome 😊 I'm sorry you're not going to get to go to Amsterdam! That really sucks 😕

@MrsEG happy Friday to you too!! Mat leave is the worst for losing track of the days... wait till the babies are here - it gets worse! Haha

@purplefig trust me, my lovely, once your baby is here, you won't care about entertaining others! You'll be absolutely besotted with your gorgeous little one, which is absolutely as it should be 😊😊

@LokiCat it makes absolutely everything worthwhile! Had a massive grin off of him about 15 mins ago and I squealed at him because it was just the most adorable thing I've ever seen 😂 I'm sure he didn't appreciate that! As far as GD - you've got this! I'm glad you're feeling positive about it now!

@cupcakesandglitter it really won't be long for you! The last few weeks for me flew by (well, looking back now they did!) so make the most of it 😊

purplefig · 17/01/2020 15:10

@LokiCat glad you're feeling loads better after your midwife appointment. And a huge yay for not having to totally cut out carbs - that would be very tough (especially when pregnant)! Great you can likely still use the birth centre too. I haven't got loads planned for maternity leave to be honest...it's my natural tendency to over plan and set myself too many things to do, but everything I've read says: take. it. easy. So I'm planning to do some reading, Netflix binging, lots of long baths, yoga, bit of food prep and meeting up with a few friends that are on mat leave / have had babies recently.

@cupcakesandglitter Oooo thanks for sharing the design - I love geeking out over interior design. Where is the door into the room out of interest? I think the classic triangle layout of the sink, fridge and hob will be pretty practical. And guessing you'll have normal counters over the washing machine, so that's a fair amount of counter space for prep. What tiles / cabinet style / colours are you going for? What an amazing experience getting to see her face so close up - I'm not sure I'd be able to tell a resemblance tbh, I'm always terrible at knowing who the baby looks like. Totally agree with you - 30 weeks is a major milestone, you're nearly over 75% of the way there!

@MrsR16 Haha I'm sure you're right. I'm just about to go on mat leave - what would you recommend having just done it and knowing what you know now?!

Just remembered I've got my favourite yoga class tonight which feels like a lovely end to the week...and work! Grin x

MrsEG · 17/01/2020 20:37

@purplefig I’ll give Christine Keeler a miss then I think! White House Farm isn’t scary but it’s more of a whodunnit drama - it’s all based on the Jeremy Bamber case. Deadwater Fell is the David Tennant one - next episode is on tonight! Ahh happy maternity leave day! I highly recommend slowing right down and resting haha - afternoon naps are an absolute must!
Unfortunately walking doesn’t help the swelling at all - I think it encourages more water to pool in my feet. The only thing helping is sitting with my feet up on my birthing ball!!

@LokiCat Oh I’m so pleased all went well at the diabetes clinic today! That’s great news. Yeah - I’m sure my friend used to go on a group as well that shared GD recipes - I’ll ask her and find out! Also her baby is 10 weeks now and she’s totally fine post-natal (and has indulged in many a donut since!)

@cupcakesandglitter I know, it’s scary to think in 2 weeks it’s go time!! So exciting too though. They are both boys but non-identical - I hope they’ll look super different so I can tell them apart from the get go! Love the layout for your kitchen!! I’d love a big open plan kitchen like that but when we renovated we couldn’t knock the wall through between kitchen and dining room - something about the roof. I was devastated!!

@MrsR16 Ha oh I can only imagine once babies are here weeks will just blur in to one!! Any top tips for survival the first 6 weeks??

OP posts:
purplefig · 17/01/2020 21:43

@MrsEG ooo maybe I could give that one a go then. I really can't stress just quite what a wimp I am though 😳. Enjoy a new ep of Deadwater Fell!! It's fab having something decent on the go. Yeah I've got to the stage now where my back is painful every day, whatever I do, so definitely looking forward to slowing down (and yes, all the daytime naps). Glad you've got a position that helps the swelling, must be so uncomfortable. The end is so so sooo in sight for you now!

Happy weekend everyone! Yoga was lovely and my back felt great during it, but back to its usual grumpy self shortly after.

What's everyone planning to do re: telling / not telling family when you go into labour? X

@purplefig I would say absolutely sleep as much as you can/want to! Treat yourself and enjoy those aspects that may not be as easy once baby is here. I'd also recommend getting as on top of the washing as possible!! 😂 I've done 1 or 2 loads nearly every day since Ethan's been here - he goes through muslins/sleepsuits/vests at the rate of knots 😂 as far as telling family - I called my mum when my waters broke and then by the time I managed to update anyone else (at a sociable time), Ethan was here! Just see how it goes I reckon!

@MrsEG definitely take each day as it comes - don't worry about what's happening in the future! Deal with what you've got there and then and then think about what's happening next 😊 and don't hesitate to call someone if you need any help or just a cry down the phone! I wish I had! The hard bit will be over before you know it.

MrsEG · 17/01/2020 23:06

@purplefig Oh your poor back! It’s rotten being in pain. I constantly remind myself ‘this will all disappear once babies are here!’ Annoyingly apparently being in a pool helps with swelling but I don’t fit in to my maternity swimsuit anymore plus I think I’d really struggle to get in and out of a pool now anyway.
Telling people - we are going to just tell my parents and sister as we need them to dog-sit for us while we’re at the hospital (likely to need around 1-2 nights in post section). In a perfect world we’d tell no one. But the furry first-born needs looking after! We’re not telling anyone else until they have arrived. DH is also under strict instruction to turn his phone off at the hospital as I know my Mum will be calling on the hour. They are basically getting ‘We’re in the hospital now - we’ll let you know once they’ve arrived’ and phone is going away! It would drive me ballistic if DH was just sat there fielding calls or replying to texts the whole time!

@MrsR16 Thanks lovely - I’ve got my sister ready on speed dial for crying down the phone! She had mild PND after her daughter was born so she is making her shoulder readily available for crying on!!

@MrsEG that's awesome! Even if you don't suffer with PND, sometimes it does all just get a bit too much! I've cried because I'm cross with myself because I don't know why Ethan's so upset, I've cried because I'm still in awe at the little human that I grew, I've cried for no apparent reason at all! 😂 just don't be afraid to leave baby/babies in one room screaming and take 5 mins in another! It really does resonate in your head but just being in a different room makes all the difference! Ethan would go out the garden if it wasn't as chilly! 🤣 xx

Hello everyone!

Can I join? I was on the TTC#1 thread for a while... but found it was stressing me out a bit, and making me think constantly of TTC, so took time out to get preggo.

Found out nearly two weeks ago I am pregnant after 15 cycles. I quit alcohol for dry Jan so perhaps it was that (I am usually a big boozer!). Am also 35 so a little older too. Maybe that's why it took us so long.

Had my docs appointment the other day which was such an anti-climax. They didnt even test me! Just gave me a flu jab, asked my weight and height and that was that... Hmm

Lovely to see the updates from names I recognize! Ethan is gorgeous @MrsR16 and @MrsEG wowee twins! Looking fab!

MrsR16 · 18/01/2020 10:29

@KittieKath oh wow, I remember you! Congratulations!!! It's so exciting 😊 how are you feeling?

MrsEG · 18/01/2020 10:50

@MrsR16 Ha you’ve just gotta cry it out sometimes!! I remember a friend saying sometimes she’d sit at the top of the stairs and have a cry after putting her son down for a nap and would feel all the better for it!

@KittieKath Congratulations! I’m 34 - I honestly don’t think age is as big a factor as people make out these days! My GP appt they didn’t even do that - all they did was refer me to the midwife! You’ll have your booking in appt soon and that’s when it all starts feeling real :) GPs and midwives never test you though - home pregnancy tests these days are so good that if you tell them you’ve had a positive result they take your word for it!!

Awww thanks guys! Yeah I am feeling remarkably fine so far. Sore boobs, and tired, but that's it. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Off bra shopping with DP today - already need something bigger and more supportive! Not only has DP offered to come with (totally unheard of!) he is also putting it on the joint account. HURRAH!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!! :-) xxx

MrsH497 · 18/01/2020 16:36

Aw @KittieKath I remember you from the TTC board welcome! So good to have you join us. Glad you're doing ok! My boobs are huge think I need another bra shop soon!

We've cleared the spare room out ready to transform it into the nursery! Clearly kept a lot of crap we didn't need so multiple trips to the dump (DH cleared garage and loft as well!). Just need to have a good clean then make it look pretty!

What colours has everyone done the nursery?

Bump pic just because it seems a lot bigger today! 23 weeks Monday!

Hope everyone is having a fab day

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!

Afternoon all!

How are our Saturdays going?
DH and I did the tour of the birthing centre along with the labour and birth prep course today.
It was great, but I honestly can’t get out of my head that he’s moving less today (little one, not DH!)
I realise I was in getting checked out 2 days ago but he’s just way quieter.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely been moving today, but it’s just bothering me.

@purplefig - DH and I had the same conversation today about when to tell who when I go into labour. I think we’re going to do similar to MrsEG and tell my parents/his mother and then switch phones off!
How does it feel to be done with work?

@MrsEG - how are you feeling today? Can’t believe you get your boys in 2 weeks time! I really don’t know where the time has gone!

@KittieKath - congratulations and welcome!

@cupcakesandglitter - thanks my dear; I’m not feeling loads better but I’m trying to convince myself he’s just having a quiet day as that’s entirely possible and every time I type out he’s being quiet he kicks away!?

@LokiCat - I’m so pleased you’re feeling better!

@MrsH497 - what a lovely bump 😊 how are you feeling?

@MrsR16 - we should figure that all out but it would be great to do!
