Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

Hey ladies! Sorry I've been awol - motherhood is super busy!! 😂

@purplefig I couldn't read and run! I found that visitors for more than just a few hours was too much - I needed to sleep so much in the early days! I was still massively hormonal, still bleeding heavily, sleeping, worrying and getting used to the responsibility of having a mini human entirely rely on you! I was thankfully very lucky in that we weren't inundated with visitors but I wouldn't have had any issues in saying "nope, not today!" Or even "right, I need to rest now as does the baby, so if you don't mind..." 😂 DH was also ready for that! As it happens, it's just my side (and a joint friend couple who started as my friend) that have actually come to visit at all! We've always gone to DH's side... not even his brother has come to see us at home!

A picture of Ethan, just because... 😂 you guys are all getting so close to meeting your babies! I'm super excited!

@purplefig oh man I’ll get the pads ready for the pessary!! I feel for you I really do - navigating in laws and visitors in general is really hard, I’ve already had a few barneys with my Mum about it and they aren’t even here yet!

@LokiCat Oh sorry to hear it :( A friend of mine had GD and managed it solely with diet; she did say it was still a bit of a pain but totally manageable. Hope you get some info from the midwife on it all; just think, it’ll be a distant memory once baby is here! I’m also guilty of Love Island watching - finding this bunch SO boring but it’s early days!

@ELW85 Cinema dates are the only thing I leave the house for these days! Ahh your week off sounds lovely, I love a good ‘staycation’ and a waterfall walk sounds amazing!

@MrsR16 Ethan is SO CUTE!! Hope all is going well :)

MrsR16 · 15/01/2020 22:33

@MrsEG aw thank you! I think he is too haha! We had proper smiles yesterday which was absolutely awesome! Yet to capture it on camera, but both DH and I have had them from him, so that's all that matters at the moment 😊 I'm super excited for my sister to arrive here on Sunday from the USA! She's only here for a week, but I probably won't have to do anything for Ethan all week 😂 she'll happily feed, change and cuddle!

MrsH497 · 16/01/2020 06:21

Morning ladies. Having a worry baby didn't seem to have as much movement before I fell asleep I've felt it move during the night and this morning. I know I'm hyper aware of it just because of my friend having lost her baby at 26 weeks last year. Normal to have a few less movements at 22 weeks or worth calling midwife?

MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 06:44

@MrsH497 if you're in any way worried at all, please call your midwife! They'd much rather be called 100 times for false alarms than not be called that 1 time they're really needed 😊 for what it's worth, I had an occasional day where Ethan didn't move much, but he's doing ok!

LokiCat · 16/01/2020 07:06

@ELW85 I think with DH being so far away during the week plus getting this news, my emotions sort of all came out. I couldn't stop crying last night but spoke to my best mate who thankfully made me feel a lot better so I was able to get some decent sleep.
As you've said, I hope with the midwife's help and the threads on here I'll be able to manage it. It's just reading the worst case scenarios, such as the higher risk for the baby getting type 2 diabetes or being overweight later in life or even being stillborn (even though the latter is rare). A part of me feels like I've already failed her..

@MrsR16 Ethan is so so cute! I hope you're enjoying motherhood and are doing well

@MrsEG yeah I think it's going to be a pain being able to figure out what I can and can't eat, which is what I'm worried about a lot right now. I'm glad she was able to manage it, gives me hope! I've read mostly positive threads on MN as well, so I know I'm being irrational by being so worried.
Haha I'm finding this group very boring as well. Didn't end up watching last night's episode, but hoping it picks up soon!

@MrsH497 I think at 22 weeks the movements you feel are still quite slight, so I'm sure all is fine, but if you're at all worried then it's better to speak to the midwife to get some peace of mind.

Hoping for a better today! At least the weekend is almost here and DH is back tomorrow evening!
I hope you ladies have a good day x

Lemonysherbet · 16/01/2020 07:40

Wahh just typed a long reply to everyone and lost it 😳

In summary. Thanks for the matb1 advice @purplefig @LokiCat and the idea about the yoga class. @purplefig I think you've just got to be blunt with people. Do it now and they'll be over it by the time baby is here too.

@lokicat sorry to hear about your GD, my friend at works been diagnosed for her second pregnancy. You can't blame yourself, the specialist said to her some people are more susceptible to it due to their body and hormones etc. She eats super healthy too! Hope youre ok, don't beat yourself up, you have definitely not failed baby.

@MrsR16 lovely to hear from you, Ethan is amazing. How are you finding life as a mum?

@MrsH497 i can't help much with movements as I'm behind you but like the other ladies have said definetly phone the midwife if you're worried.

Sorry I've probably missed half the comments in my retype so really sorry if I miss anyone!

Been sick again lately. At 20 weeks I never thought I'd still be sick, but I've accepted the fact I will probably have a weekly session of throwing up now!

MrsH497 · 16/01/2020 07:44

Thanks ladies called the number in my blue book at the hospital they said to pop in and they'll check everything out. Probably over reacting and panicking for nothing!

PippaPug · 16/01/2020 08:25

Hello!

I somehow lost this thread - wasn’t in my recently posted ones and couldn’t quite remember where it was!

@MrsH497 - your doing the right thing, just peace of mind for you!

@LokiCat - sorry to hear about GD - that’s a added worry you really don’t need, I hope that the midwife can help you feel a bit more reassured when you next see her

@purplefig - I’m having the same slight dilemma about visitors - and not who I thought it would be - I have a few friends who are very excited but have asked me if I can try and plan to be induced/C section at the end of the week and then they will come and visit over the weekend 😬 I’m feeling quite a bit of pressure (where I haven’t before) over it all....I don’t want to lie to anyone but I’m thinking we just won’t tell people the date we are given 🙈 and make it a week later. Why does everyone want to see a baby within 5 mins of them being born?!

@MrsEG - Glad your waters haven’t broken, that would of been a bit of a shock! Glad it’s not much to worry about although can they be nice for you.

MrsEG · 16/01/2020 08:42

@MrsR16 Oh how lovely - it’ll be so nice to have a babysitter on tap for a week haha! I bet she is bursting to see Ethan too! Hope you have a fab week together :)

@MrsH497 Please try not to worry lovely - I’m sure they’ll tell you anyway but at 22 weeks baby is still small and all it takes is for them to roll over or change position and you won’t feel them; it’s why the actual tracking of a pattern isn’t until a bit later on. But fantastic they are seeing you today and will likely hook you up to the monitors to check all is okay! If it makes you feel any better at all at 22 weeks I had incredibly quiet days on the movement front.

@LokiCat My friend who had GD is a yoga teacher who eats like a rabbit too! There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to those who get it and those who don’t. I remember her eating a lot of Greek yoghurt and fruit! Something to do with having your carbs with fats. I’m sure it’ll all be fine hun and you always have us here to vent!

@Lemonysherbet You poor thing still being sick! Can they give you anything for it at all?

@pippapug Hello lovely! I know, it’s one thing after another these days! I’m nearly 35 weeks now though so I guess anything could happen!! How are you getting on? I have my section date booked now as twin 1 is very firmly breech and going nowhere. As for your friends by the way I would say hell no!! Gosh even my own mother isn’t coming to see me that quick haha!! Obviously- it’s whatever you are comfortable with, but I’ve told my family as I’m having a section let me have a day or two to recover and stuff before they all come barging in. I am so the same - this obsession with meeting baby the second they are out of the womb is ridiculous! It actually annoys me - will no one think of the mother in all of it!

Happy Thursday! DH is off on Thursdays so hes still fast asleep. Going to attempt a small dog walk this afternoon, wish me luck!

MrsH497 · 16/01/2020 08:51

Yep it's just being a pickle midwife at the hospital was so nice and said did the right thing they did all my observations everything is good and baby's heartbeat is perfect. Exhausted now after waking up early worrying and not sleeping great last night! Thank you ladies 😘

purplefig · 16/01/2020 09:00

Thank you everyone for your really helpful advice re: visitors in those early days. I really, really appreciated it as I just couldn't work out if we were being unreasonable or not. Luckily DH totally agrees and has let them know, it's me that was worried about upsetting them.

@LokiCat ahhh sorry to hear about the suspected GD lovely. Like someone else said, lots of people do really well managing it through diet. Totally get it's an added stress you could do without though.

@ELW85 haha yes I know what you mean, it's lovely but makes keeping track of everyone a challenge! Did you manage some good sleep last night?

@MrsR16 oh my goodness he just gets cuter and cuter! Have an absolutely fab time with your sister - what a clever baby learning to smile just in time! Thanks for popping on to share your thoughts from the other side as it were, so hard to imagine how I'll feel so really do appreciate it. I'm going to have to get better at boundaries!

@MrsEG Urghhh I hate family drama! Especially when heavily pregnant 🤣 hoping they just get back and say yep that's totally reasonable! We shall see. How're you feeling today? Padded up?! 😳 All the best for your walk.

@MrsH497 let us know how you get on lovely. They do say you can't track any pattern before 28 weeks, so trying to do so might be a bit anxiety inducing - especially considering your friends terrible loss being on your mind. Big hugs.

@Lemonysherbet sorry to hear about your sickness, you'd think that would've stopped by 20 weeks wouldn't you?!

@PippaPug oh wow - asking you to schedule a c-section or induction to suit their calendar is pretty crazy! I'd say that you don't know what kind of birth you're going to have at the moment and that if you have an induction / c-section it'll be when the hospital schedules it for and what's best for the babies.

MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 09:09

@LokiCat aw sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough time last night! I'm glad your best friend was able to help out though 😊 we're not doing too badly! He's 6 weeks old tomorrow 🙈 and aside from the sick, poop and wee, he's adorable! Haha!

@Lemonysherbet life is busy! If I'm not sleeping, then I'm dealing with Ethan or doing something around the house... I do try and get out somewhere most days as long as the weather's ok - it's so good for both of us! Sorry to hear you're still suffering with sickness - that's gotta be rough!

@MrsH497 I'm so glad you've been seen today! It's also good for you just to have that reassurance that you're doing the right thing! Makes a hell of a difference if you know you can stop worrying 😊 for the moment anyway!

@PippaPug you're kidding about your friends right?!? That's absolutely insane that anyone would even suggest that! Even if you have a natural birth, those first few days are so hard, but so precious and you'll never get them back. You'll be learning about your two new arrivals and they'll be learning about you - it's so important that you and your other half have that time with them together without worrying about anyone else coming over unexpectedly! I'd tell em to shove off... (I've got brave since having Ethan!) lol

@MrsEG thanks lovely! I'm sure it'll be a fab week! We're still waiting for my other sister to have her baby and am desperately hoping it will be here before she goes back to the States!

cupcakesandglitter · 16/01/2020 09:15

Hi ladies 🥰 sorry I disappeared again, we're hopefully starting the building work in the kitchen but it's been manic the last couple of weeks. Will try and catch up with everyone now!!

I had my 28w scan a couple of days ago and Smidge is 2lb 10 - she turned her face and the sonographer zoomed in and oh my god she's the spitting image of me!!! DH was pleased 😂 They were more than happy with everything and so said I'd only need one more scan and they're happy for a natural birth etc etc.... until yesterday morning where I got the call to let me know I've got GD. Back to being monitored again 😞

@purplefig I totally get what you mean - I know my parents (mom) will be offended that I don't want them there 24/7, some people will always take it personally because (in my opinion) they think they know what's best for you and baby. My mom asked me the other day "please don't turn into one of THOSE parents that have a set time for lunch/tea etc"..... 🤦🏻‍♀️ glad you're DH is on board though, it's good you're both on the same page x

Eeeek @MrsEG your c section is so close!! I'm so excited for you!! Are you resting up? Are you ready?! 😁 x

Hey @PippaPug how are you xx

@mrsh497 glad everything is oky, definitely better to be safe than sorry xx

Sorry to hear about the sickness @Lemonysherbert - it's pants but hopefully it's less than the first trimester? X

@lokicat I'm going through the exact same thing!! I completely get it, I feel like my body has already failed her and it's just another thing to add to the list!! I'm happy I guess that at least we'll be monitored and there's a lot of support available BUT I can't help but feel so awful about the fact that (although I just want her out safely) I don't even have the option of a MLU or "natural" birth. I'm also really scared about having the diabetes after birth too. Feel free to DM me if you want, I've got my first clinic app next week but doing whatever research I can in the mean time xxx

@MrsR16 I can't deal with Ethan, he makes my heart melt 😭😭😭

@elw85 how are you? 30 weeks this week!!!! Xx

MrsEG · 16/01/2020 09:27

@MrsH497 So glad you’ve been seen and all is okay. I used to have this link saved that broke it all down and what to do at certain weeks gestation etc that used to calm me down a bit on their quieter days! www.tommys.org/pregnancy/symptom-checker/baby-fetal-movements
You won’t believe how much of a difference you’ll notice in movement between 24-28 weeks. Mine turned in to little wrestlers!!

@purplefig That’s great DH has spoken to them! Takes it off your mind completely. Honestly if there’s a time to be selfish it’s in those first few weeks as a new mother! I am indeed all padded up haha - really didn’t feel like I managed to get the pessary in all that far at all, but it hasn’t fallen out 🤞🏻 so hopefully it’s doing it’s job!

@MrsR16 Oh wow is she overdue now? I bet you can’t wait for the baby to arrive!

@cupcakesandglitter Great news about your 28 week scan :) I see no resemblance on any of ours but MIL is convinced twin 1 is DHs double haha! Oh hun sorry to hear about the GD for you also! As others and myself have said - those I know who’ve been there have said it wasn’t so bad to manage in the end. You’ll get tonnes of additional support with it too, and you always have all of us!
I know - it feels so close now, just over 2 weeks..! I check over the house literally every day to make sure we’re ready haha!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 09:34

@cupcakesandglitter 😍 he is a cutie! Aside from when he's screaming... but that's pretty much because I haven't done something! He's really good and won't really cry for no reason. Aside from last Wednesday... that was a horrible day! 😂 I'm pleased that Smidge is doing ok!!

@MrsEG no, due date's not till 28th, but she was 2 weeks early with both her previous babies, so we're expecting it any day! 🤞🤞

PippaPug · 16/01/2020 09:41

@MrsEG - Can’t believe your C section is booked all in! To be fair I sure that I’m also will be having a C section as Pip is still breech - if I put ice on his head he sinks down and once the ice has gone he comes back to the surface again (I have a lump in the middle of my bump which is his head!)
I have no idea what’s suddenly come across my friends - they were so normal up to a week ago! It’s the ones that live a few hours away but not sure why they have suddenly become like this! Good luck with the dog walk - I can barely walk still, so painful! Went with my friend and her newborn for her 8 week injections - and then I realised I would have to do two lots of injections - and got rather emotional at that idea! My friends daughter was so sad afterwards as well :(

@MrsH497 - glad all is ok with little one and you feel better now (minus the tiredness!)

@purplefig - I have no idea what’s come over my friends suddenly - it’s rather intense! I’m just swaying not to tell them (or family!) because I have no idea how I’m going to feel - or how the babies will be! How are you finding all the questions about visitors?! I’m finding it all a bit to much!

@MrsR16 - just saw the latest photo of Ethan, what a cutie!! Yes friends have gone insane lately and unsure why - they all want to meet them at like 5 minutes old....and not taking in consideration that I’m probably going to be recovering from major surgery, as well as wanting some time with DH and the twins!

@cupcakesandglitter - sounds like your going all out to decorate! I’m sorry that you have GD, that must be really difficult, but it’s not forever and it’s quite manageable now - when’s your next appointment?

I have my 32 week scan today - so be nice to see the babies (although it’s getting harder to see them all on the screen now!) babies are still breech (well Pip is as I can feel his head poking through my bump) unsure where Pop is laying as he has sunk down a bit so we shall see!
I’m keeping a open mind on the C section now - positive thinking approach!

MrsH497 · 16/01/2020 09:47

Thank you @MrsEG can't believe your c section is all booked!! So exciting you get to meet your little ones so soon! Xx

MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 10:46

@PippaPug I'm assuming your friends don't have children themselves?!? 32 weeks! Wow! It must be lovely to see them again 😊 a positive mental attitude makes the world of difference! You'll make the best decision for your babies and if that involves a c-section then that's ok!

purplefig · 16/01/2020 10:58

@cupcakesandglitter oh man, building work is such a hassle! We renovated last year and my oh my...! BUT it will be so worth it once it's done. The kitchen is next on my list! What sort of design are you going for? So cute you can already see a resemblance on the scan - that's wild Grin.

@MrsEG That's a good sign if none has come out yet - I think mine started to, er, crumble etc. at about midday the following day. Hope it does the trick for you. Totally get you with the being selfish thing - DH is so there and I am just struggling, even though I 10000% know it's the right way to be. Hoping this baby spurs me into developing a backbone! Can't believe you've got just over two weeks to go now, I'm so, so, sooo excited for you. And even if you have forgotten something, there's always 24/7 supermarkets and Amazon prime so it's not the end of the world.

@PippaPug yeah I think that's right, you've just got to do whatever makes you comfortable. With my family I've just sort of said we'll let you know how I get on and go from there, which has worked fine. But his side all want to get it booked in and it's just....too much and makes me feel super overwhelmed! All the best at your 32 week scan - it'll be so nice getting to see them again. Glad to hear you're feeling better about a c-section too.

MrsEG · 16/01/2020 13:06

@MrsR16 Oh fingers crossed, come on baby!! How exciting. My sister told me yesterday they are now trying again as the impending arrival of the twins have made her extra broody haha!

@PippaPug Twin 1 is exactly the same for me - keeps his head up high! I never really know what twin 2 is up to but it’s been so obvious to me that 1 has been breech for weeks and weeks now!! Makes for some lopsided bump pics! Enjoy the scan today, hope all is looking well!

@MrsH497 Ah I know, so excited now - to meet them and to be able to walk again haha!!

@purplefig It’s so good DH is fully on board - I’m sure once baby is here you’ll have no problem telling people to leave you alone if needs be!! Yeah it’s definitely starting to crumble out now (nice!) - I really want a bath but think I’ll stick with showers for a few days just to be safe!

Managed a very short dog walk - it’s too painful and uncomfortable now but it was so nice to even feel the fresh air!! Bump pic attached that DH took - wish I’d known so I could have at least smiled haha! 34+4 today.

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!
OP posts:
purplefig · 16/01/2020 13:15

@MrsEG oh look at you - that bump is magnificent! And I love your outfit (especially the hat). Agree fresh air feels so good these days, but I'm struggling with my back if I walk too much / up an incline. Bet the pup loved having you out. Mine has really slowed down on the lead for me, which makes me irrationally emotional. Oh good point about the bath - I didn't even consider that! And it's so cute your sister is feeling broody now too...it'll be amazing having nearby cousins all close in age.

So they replied and are clearly put out. I know it's ultimately their problem and I'm not responsible for their reaction / opinions, but it's really highlighted what a massive people pleaser I still am. I feel so guilty even though I know that's mad.

MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 13:25

@MrsEG ooh!!! New niece/nephew for you on the horizon then! That's super exciting! You look absolutely incredible! I know you're in loads of pain and probably can't wait to have the twins here so you can start to feel yourself again, but you do look amazing!

@purplefig oh hun, don't feel guilty at all! You've got to do what is best for you and baby and that is spending time as just you, DH and baby! Everyone else will just have to wait.

MrsEG · 16/01/2020 16:44

@purplefig Let it wash right over you! They’ll be peeved for a day or two and then they’ll get over it. Honestly; brush it right off - it’s phase 1 in gaining the newborn backbone haha!
Oh that’s so cute that the dog is slowing to your pace - that would totally make me well up too!
I know - my niece is only 20 months now and my sister fell pregnant on honeymoon so if she’s that lucky to fall so fast again they'll all be nice and close in age!!
Oh btw - the woolly hat is only from Morrison’s would you believe!

@MrsR16 Thank you lovely - I feel anything but fabulous haha but trying to remember to get bump pics for when I’m feeling nostalgic in months to come! I know - I love the idea of cousins all being close - yours will be super close in age!! Is your sister having a boy or girl?

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 16/01/2020 16:51

@MrsEG I took a bump picture every week from 11 weeks, just missing week 18 as I was away. I've made a video of them all and stuck it on my Insta! 😂 I'm sure people don't care, but I wanted to share my body journey! It was the hardest thing ever and took me forever to accept it, but looking back at the video now is just awesome. My sister doesn't know what she's having - it's another surprise! 😊 I think it's a boy though...
