Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

Ladies, my waters went this evening, 35 and 5!! I'm at the hospital, baby is fine but still in wrong position. They've given me steroids and antibiotics to give us a boost. Plan is for another round tomorrow and then c section Thursday... But if he needs to come earlier then all should be well anyway. So just waiting now!!

Honestly thought I'd be sent home and told I was just wetting myself 😂

Lemonysherbet · 11/12/2019 07:00

Morningggg,

Guess who's sickness has finally gone (touch wood). Still feel sick but I can handle that! Only took 15.5 weeks 😂

@MrsR16 thank you for sharing your birthing story, that's so incredibly helpful and lovely to hear. It's actually the first one I've heard in detail ever so I'm glad you've broken me in gently! How are you feeling now? How's Ethan? He's adorable, and so very alert, he doesn't look like a little old man like a lot of newborns do (this is a compliment fyi, not meaning to sound rude!)

@MrsEG your baby shower looks amazing, would you recommend one? I've immediately said no but I'm wondering if I was too fast knocking the idea back. Just don't enjoy being centre of attention!

@BabySquid I'm so glad you're home, how are you feeling?

@thumper59 being a mum suits you! Freddie is adorable. I'm not surprised the days go fast, you seem to blink and they're suddenly 1 🤣

@LokiCat congratulations on a girl, the scan sounds amazing, you've made me excited for mine, still another 4 weeks away though! Also amazing you already have a name picked out, I think that will be the hardest part for us.

@PippaPug hooray for Wayfair finally getting it right! What a joke! We've only ever ordered 1 thing from them but I don't think I'll ever risk anything else now! It is a beautiful unit though

@Fivebyfive2 oh wow, a little Christmas surprise for you! How are you doing today? You get to meet your baby super soon 🥰

Lemonysherbet · 11/12/2019 07:04

Ah didn't mean to hit post, very much half asleep still. @Fivebyfive2 was going to say good luck and glad you went in even if you thought you were just wetting yourself!

Happy hump day everyone, so close to Xmas, can't wait for the break, works quite stressful at the moment, and I've partially switched off (don't like my job, was job hunting pre pregnancy and won't be returning so motivating myself is hard work!) So I think the xmas break will do me good and give me a new lease of energy until mat leave in may.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, I went back 3 pages whilst half asleep so it's very possible!

LokiCat · 11/12/2019 07:23

Morning ladies 😊 happy hump day!

@Fivebyfive2 ahh best of luck! I hope little Homer stays put till atleast tomorrow. I can't believe you'll be meeting your little one by the end of this week, so exciting! Xxx

@PippaPug thanks lovely! Yes southwestern trains as well, unfortunately. I can't wait for next Friday to get a break from them for a bit!
Those drawers look amazing! So much so, that I want to order it but not sure I'd be able to handle all the stress you went through 😂 I'll have to look for something similar elsewhere..
Hope the second GTT went okay.

@purplefig a part of me is worried we'll see her and think that the name doesn't 'suit' her. Hopefully not!
Ah sorry to hear about your second cold. DH currently has a really bad chesty cough that may turn into a chest infection so I'm trying to stay away from him as much as possible! It's so difficult without any remedies to help us..
Glad your midwife appointment went well and your bloods are fine!

@BabySquid ah that's great that you're home and baby has stayed put. Glad the hospital will be doing regular checks as well, sounds like they're on top of things.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to meet her 😊

@MrsEG haha it took me a while to figure out what she was showing us when we got the view from below 😂
yeah, it's been madness on the trains and they're running for the whole of December 😭
Can't believe you've only got a week left at work! How exciting. Hopefully babies stay put till end of Jan, but definitely better to be prepared. Glad pooch is doing well (sorry you missed out on the truffles! 😂).

@LikeTheFruit thank you! It is amazing feeling them 😁
Ah bless you, your work sounds crazy. Hope Xmas shopping was successful! I can't wait for the holidays to start. A good break from work is definitely needed!

@Lemonysherbet yayy! Glad your sickness has stopped. Mine finally stopped a few weeks ago and it's been so great being able to enjoy food again 😁
Thank you! It is such an amazing detailed scan.
I can't remember who mentioned it, but apparently there's a baby name app similar to Tinder which allows you and your partner to swipe through names to see which ones you both like. May be a starting point?

Manager mentioned yesterday that I should make contact with Occupational Health at work to see if they can recommend anything such as better chairs etc, since my job is mostly computer desk based. Hopefully it helps, my hips hurt so much by the end of the day and a standing desk is just not possible, unfortunately!

Hope you all have a lovely day x

thumper59 · 11/12/2019 08:27

@MrsEG that's a good idea, I've got a work out dvd to start when he has a morning nap 😂 glad your dog is ok! Gutting you've missed out on the truffles though..

@LokiCat Thankyou . Hope your doing well!

@purplefig I actually live 14 doors away from my mum and dad 😂 ( I really love our village, and our little cul de sac) and so did OH so when we started looking and a house came up round here (rare!) we snapped it up! I've lived round here my whole life 😊 But OHs family live 5-10 min drive away so we are all really close. My mum was putting up a banner for me as a surprise to come home from hospital to with Freddie coming on my birthday, and she fell off a chair and broke her foot 😫 which is awful but does mean she's been home a lot more in these few weeks which has been helpful for me!

@Lemonysherbet thankyou 💙. I'm glad your sickness has finally eased! I hope it stays away for you xx

MrsEG · 11/12/2019 08:51

@Fivebyfive2 Ahh good luck lovely!! Not long now to meet him, he clearly didn’t want to wait around!! Hope all goes really well :)

@Lemonysherbet Glad to hear your sickness has gone! I’ve totally checked out of work too - very hard to stay motivated when you’re privately planning for a baby to come along!! I was the same as you - my sister asked if she could throw me a shower and I was so reluctant and was still feeling a bit apprehensive the day before but I loved it - it was so nice having all my friends together (when does that ever happen without military planning these days!!) and it was just a really lovely day. We got some amazing gifts too, these boys will want for nothing for the first year!!

@LokiCat Oh what a pain! Well I hope you’re making sure you get a seat when these trains do rock up! Defo see occupational health - I have my office risk assessment and ended up with a birthing ball, back support and foot rest at my desk aha - a bit overkill in general but it helps! I just try and make sure I go for a wander every hour too, but with how much I need to pee, that isn’t much of a challenge!

@thumper59 Oh your poor mum!! Bless her - hope she recovers okay! Yeah the dog is fine now - starting to realise I’m gonna have to keep any of the boys food well away from him haha! He has the worst food manners ever! How are you getting on?

Morning all! Hump day :) This time next week and it’s my last day in the office! In my handover yesterday we discussed me possibly doing some admin support from home the first 2 weeks of Jan if babies don’t arrive and I feel up to it, to give me a bit more cash before mat leave! So I’ve said fine. Background admin at my work will be about 3 hours work a day and then a lot of daytime TV so why not! It’s all super flexible too - boss said ‘if you wake up one morning and just think ‘I can’t do this’ just let me know and start your mat leave!’ So that makes me feel a lot better about it too!

We have NCT tonight which I’m looking forward too - I’m sure she said it was inductions and c-sections today which will be useful for me!

ELW85 · 11/12/2019 11:19

Morning all!

Thank you to everyone who’s wished us a nice holiday!
Currently sat in the lounge at Heathrow desperate for our next flight. We’ve been up since 4am so I feel like I’m ready for my bed again!

@MrsEG @LokiCat - we’re away for 4 nights, so hopefully not long enough to get jet lagged 😂
We land in NYC at teatime (their time) so hoping to grab some tea and go to sleep. Hamilton tomorrow night!

@purplefig - I’m good thank you, it’s lovely feeling more regular movements and DH can feel the little one now too, which is wonderful!
It’s awful about your maternity allowance. Just feels like such a bad outcome. I know it’s not hopeful but sending a Christmas miracle your way to get it resolved!

@Fivebyfive2 - eek!! Good luck, and how exciting!

So apparently the airport lounge is a good place to read about hypnobirthing.
I’m up to chapter 7 already and am fully aware of the ‘self doubt’ phase!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week (in case I can’t keep up whilst we’re away!)

PippaPug · 11/12/2019 11:53

@purplefig - it makes me so annoyed, when they all take seats and no where for the actual patients to sit! I’m glad your midwife appt went well and they aren’t worried about your anaemia, that’s a great thing! I’m loving the drawers as I have folded quite a few baby clothes so far, but I think I’m going to need more!

@BabySquid - super pleased your home! Take it really easy and don’t lift a finger, are you able to go to work?
Love the drawers now they were a lot cheaper 😂

@MrsEG - Glad your dog is better just sorry about your purse being lighter! I wish our hospital put that on the letters we get! What was frustrating that most of them were having the GTT test too (we all came out with our drink to have in the waiting room) so your roughly there for 3 hours, it’s not informative apt at all!
I believe it went well, I wasn’t as sick after but not sure when I will get my results, hopefully by my scan on Monday.

@LikeTheFruit - if you see them online can you send the link to me?! I found them in store but I haven’t quite found them online - not sure what they are under to search them! How are you?

@Fivebyfive2 - Wow that’s earlier then you thought! How exciting your meet little Homer this week, hope he can hold off till you have both steroid injections!

@Lemonysherbet - so pleased your sickness has eased up! My nausea left at around 16/17 weeks so hopefully you wouldn’t have it for much longer!
So pleased now they are are here so we can crack on with the nursery, want it all done and finished by the new year!

@LokiCat - Yes and me! I only use them 3/4 times a week and that’s enough!
I bet if you ordered them they will come without any issues, the whole issue was that the label on outside of the box didn’t match the name of the box which we received and they couldn’t quite cope with the fact it was wrong, and the warehouse couldn’t cope with just opening the box and checking the unit matched the order, apparently it’s been corrected now though!
Ikea has one very close to this - just not as long and has feet. How are you doing?

@thumper59 - sorry to hear about your mum but I bet it’s been nice that she has spent lots of time with you and Freddie!

@ELW85 - have a safe flight and a wonderful holiday! Not in the bit jealous oh no!

So yesterday I ended up having another scan, due to the fact I had felt only one baby move....both babies are fine thankfully, they have just completely moved into new positions and not where they were! However I spoke to one midwife at my GTT test - who said I’m sure it will be fine once you have your sugary drink and didn’t really listen to me, and the midwife who saw me on the ward was very abrupt with me (when I was by myself and feeling scared/worried) and I felt like I shouldn’t of gone....then she tried to cancel my 28 week scan even though the consultant who gave me a extra scan yesterday said I must keep it, and was really stroppy with me for no reason?
I got given a leaflet about “feeling your babies movements” which clearly states if you can’t feel them to call - which I did and then I was told to come in....I find it hard knowing if they are both kicking and everything pretty much relates back to having one baby not two (such as counting the kicks) she made me feel like I was wasting her time and I hated feeling like that. I had the monitors on to check Thierry heart rate and she turned the machine away so I couldn’t see it, and just walked off, didn’t say anything to me.

The consultant whinI was scanned by was the complete opposite and so incredibly lovely, scanned me for 45 mins to check everything including did some extra measurements even knowing they are scanning me next week, stopped to show me that they are moving, pointed out their fingers/toes etc and made me feel so much better, she gave me a hug as she said I just looked so scared coming in and she is pleased she has been able to reassure me. She said I can come in everyday I am worried even if that’s till the end of my pregnancy, she said I just want you to feel reassured and not worry, she really made up for the midwife who made me feel like I was wasting their time, I honestly thought it would be the midwife who would reassure me and the consultant would be quick and abrupt as very busy, proved me wrong!

Also is anyone not having a baby shower? Xx

purplefig · 11/12/2019 12:14

@MrsEG glad to hear the pooch is on the mend. I think you need to get yourself some replacement truffles tbh! Cannot imagine 6 hours...you'll deffo need a packed lunch. Yeah it is strange how much NCT teachers vary - glad you've got a good one. I don't regret going as the other couples all seem lovely and we don't have any other parent friends locally, so it'll be invaluable for that. But the content has been pretty hit and miss and it's a bit rubbish feeling like I have to research everything she says. Not sure about babies HR slowing as they get older - but it wasn't that it was slower, just quieter. She said normally they pick it up through their shoulder, but can't if back to back hence it's not as loud. How did hospital bag packing go?

@LikeTheFruit Thanks! Like you, I cannot wait for the Christmas break now.

@Fivebyfive2 oh my goodness it's all kicking off in this thread isn't it?! Glad to hear the baby is fine and you're in safe hands. Sounds like they've got a really solid plan in place for you. How're you holding up?

@LokiCat oh yes, definitely quarantine him. DH and I are so unromantic about colds, if one has and the other doesn't we'll sleep in separate rooms! Grin. Re: standing desk, you can get contraptions that turn your normal desk into a standing desk if that might help? I basically can't sit now without back ache, so I'm at my standing desk all day for work. Very achy feet, but a happy back.

@thumper59 oh what a lovely set-up! I don't think there's anything wrong at all with loving where you grew up and staying put. I only live about 40 mins from my old hometown and my parents are planning on moving a bit closer next year. Sorry about your mum's foot, but bet she's been loving the time for newborn snuggles Grin

@ELW85 oh my goodness - so exciting! Somehow I missed that you were off on your hols so soon. Have the most amazing time! What book are you cracking on with? Thanks for your kind wishes - I've kind of given up stressing over it because it's a bit pointless. I'll just have to deal with the outcome when it happens. Plus I know logically it should all go through fine. But yeah, it is utterly appalling.

@PippaPug glad both of the babies are doing well and sorry for your negative experience with the midwife, it's not ideal when you're in a vulnerable position and just following the advice given. I'm not having a baby shower - all my friends and family live miles and miles and miles apart so it just wouldn't be practical. Especially given lots want to come down in Feb when the new arrival is here (which is more exciting)! I don't feel like I'm missing out, but tbh I've been a fan of organised parties and I'm very much a one-on-one kind of person. The thought of relatives/friends who don't know each other getting together just mildly stresses me out Grin

Happy hump day one and all! How's everyone doing? My cold is still hanging around. Drinking loads of water which seems to be helping, but I don't half miss lemsip. x

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2019 14:27

Ahh @LokiCat congrats and welcome to team girl 💕 lovely that you have your name picked out too!! Mine likes hearing hers 😂 glad everything went well with the scan and now you can just sit back and enjoy feeling her move! X

Ahh sorry about your cold @purplefig hope you feel better soon 😞 x

Ahh @PippaPug so sorry to hear about your experience, I'm glad you had a lovely consultant though. Why even try to cancel your 28w scan?! Good to hear everything is okay with them, and so lovely of the consultant to give you a hug! I always wonder how people go into the profession being so cold and uncaring. Surely it's the totally wrong career if you can't empathise with human beings 🤨 I don't think I'm having a baby shower! Are you? (Love the drawers btw - annoying experience but what a bargain!) X

Ahhh @ELW85 enjoy every second!! What a magical Christmas for you, it's going to be wonderful x

@MrsEG ahh you looked fantastic! Lovely dress too 😊 that's great news re your mat leave, at least if nothing else it'll keep you occupied in the wait for them but without the pressure! Enjoy your NCT class! X

Good luck @Fivebyfive2 I hope little Homer hangs in there Until Thursday and then you'll get to meet him eeeeekk!!!!! X

Ahh @BabySquid im pleased that you're home - definitely take it easy and rest up! Xx

@MrsR16 Ethan is so adorable I can't!! Look at his cheeks 😭🥰

Sorry if I've missed anyone!! Think I've overdone myself the last few days as I'm wiped out with a tight sore bump! The good news is the flooring is done in the nursery and the skirting board arrived today so hopefully not too long now until it's done!! The bathroom Reno starts tomorrow so it's all systems go atm 😅 I've started throwing up again which is a massive pain but my appetite seems to have completely returned... not sure that's a good thing given I want to eat 24/7!!

BabySquid · 11/12/2019 15:05

@MrsEG feeling much better thanks, this morning was amazing for a shower and my hairdryer, even a bit of mazzy made me feel like me again!!
I've just been to work to talk to my manager and tell her anything important or imminent, she said I wasn't allowed to bring my lappy home though, even to write up some process notes for my replacement seeing as I won't get to train him!

@Fivebyfive2 oh my goodness! Must be something in the air!! I hope all is ok?? I hope he moves about so you don't have to have a C section.
@Lemonysherbet I'm so happy for you that your sickness has gone. 🥳🥳

@PippaPug No work for me now, that's it till I go back when little ones like 9/10 months old!! Feels weird now that I'll not be going back to work any time soon! I'm sure I'll be bored out my brains in a week or so! Also I'll now not be having a baby shower with things so up in the air about when little one will be coming etc, so I think I'll have a post baby celebration when they're like a month old or so (can have a glass of something then too!)

I'm just sat on the sofa chilling while DH is doing all the cleaning and washing bless him, I feel bad that I can't help him but he wouldn't have it anyway, he's said he'll tape me to the sofa if needed 🙈

Fivebyfive2 · 11/12/2019 17:02

Hi all! Just to update you guys, still in hospital, waters definitely gone/still going. But we have our own room with lovely staff, the midwife is even showing me how to harvest colostrum for him! Baby is not in right position so the plan is a c section, no other choice really. However, after monitoring, they're saying he is doing so well still that they could hold off until Friday, just to give him as much time inside as possible and I guess a chance to absorb all the steroids and antibiotics they've given me! If anything changes though, they'll be on hand to get him out whenever.

@MrsEG, enjoy NCT, sounds like it will be useful for you! Great set up working from home too 🙂

@ELW85, enjoy your holiday, safe flight! Xx

@BabySquid, glad to hear you're home and remember you must chill and take it easy! Xx

BabySquid · 11/12/2019 17:21

@Fivebyfive2 glad to hear that he's still doing well in there. Are they only going to do a C so as he doesn't try come out the wrong way? I need to know if I can start collecting colostrum as my boobs started leaking on Sunday and today they've stopped but are now rock hard and I don't want it to have an affect on my milk.

PippaPug · 11/12/2019 17:35

@purplefig - www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-pure-cotton-striped-and-star-bundler/p/clp60265205?extid=DR_P_IM_B_257_DPA_27_08_17

I ended up searching the whole of M and S baby section earlier as it was bugging me 🙈 I believe gender neutral too! Aha

Fivebyfive2 · 11/12/2019 17:56

@BabySquid, basically they seem to think he moved from transverse to breech (bum down , head up to one side!) and that may be what caused my waters to go. Because the waters have gone, they can't try to move him. Apparently it is unlikely he'd move now, but if he tries or tries to come out, he could get distressed so they're opting for a controlled c section to make it a bit safer.

Colostrum update... I got almost a full syringe (1ml) out between both boobs! I thought that sounded rubbish but apparently it is really good considering it's the first go and I'm only 36 weeks tomorrow. @BabySquid, at NCT they said you can start doing it from home from 36 weeks, as it can sometimes encourage labour so just double check before starting. The midwife here showed me to massage boobs with my fist, then make a c shape with thumb and finger, squeeze and around the nipple, rotating around different angles, until stuff comes out. Good luck!! Xx

PippaPug · 11/12/2019 20:40

@purplefig - Sorry I was so excited to show the night gowns I forgot to reply to everyone else 🙈
I think your right - I felt vulnerable, I was alone and I was only following what I had been told (I was also given a leaflet about “reduced movements” which was everything I had already done - I’m sure I only got it because I had been in twice in 8 days and she thought I was wasting their time.
I’m not having a baby shower either - I have friends back at home and in London as well as abroad, I didn’t even want a honeymoon and was bullied into it and found that really stressful. How is your cold?

@cupcakesandglitter - how are you getting on? I have no idea why the midwife tried to cancel my appointment, the consultant even put it in my notes that I should go to my 28 week scan next week before giving it back to the midwife 🤨🙄 Then the midwife looks annoyed that I said the consultant said I was too have the scan! It was almost like she thought I was wasting their time and because I had a scan I wouldn’t need another one in 6 days.
I don’t think so, I find it awkward and stressful with all my friends scattered around, I think maybe some of my friends will come and visit when I’m on mat leave which will be lovely ☺️ Sounds like you have the nesting bug - with all the decorating your doing!
Sorry to hear your sickness is back but pleased your still eating!

@BabySquid - I’m pleased your not able to work now, baby comes first! Lots of rest for you, have you got any good books or boxsets you want to watch before baby arrives? RE colostrum (I know your not asking me so hope you don’t mind me answering) I think you should speak to your midwife before trying as it could bring on labour.

@Fivebyfive2 - well done that’s a lot of colostrum! Hoping Homer can stay a little longer fingers crossed! Glad you have your own room and midwives are being lovely, rest and sleep whilst you can!

MrsEG · 11/12/2019 23:05

Evening all! NCT was good tonight - was all about sweeps and inductions, and how to make informed decisions, and knowing our options etc. It was super useful I thought! Hilarious to see literally all the dads though who had no clue a) what a sweep was (‘they use their fingers?!’) and b) that an induction wasn’t just exactly the same as a women going in to labour naturally (‘I thought it was a quick kick-start...’). Such a fab group of people though, and I’m really warming to the teacher as she really does give every side of the spectrum and cover all options!

@ELW85 Have a great time and enjoy Hamilton, I’ve heard such good things!

@PippaPug Hope the results are all fine for GTT! Sorry to hear you had such a crap experience with the scan, I’d even be tempted to complain?! No woman should feel they are a nuisance for following advice given to us! And your consultant is absolutely right to keep your 28 week scan; it’s important for the twins to plot the growth and check how they are lying, at my 28 week one we started discussing birthing etc too. So a very important appointment!!

@purplefig I know, it’s 10-4! She said tonight it’s a practical workshop - we all take our birthing balls, we can bring fairy lights etc to almost mimick the birthing scenario. And she is also going to do some guided relaxation, and massage techniques! I’m quite looking forward to it now haha! Gah I also miss Lemsip so much!! Good you’re keeping well hydrated though - it’s so annoying isn’t it that we just have to ride it out?!

@cupcakesandglitter Sounds like all the house renovations are coming along great! Enjoy the appetite - I’m famished at the mo but I just think to myself ‘babies are hungry!’ as I scoff away and it makes me feel less guilty as I shovel in the 5th round of toast haha! You’ve had such a tough ride, I say enjoy that appetite!!

@BabySquid That’s so fab to hear you’re feeling better and definitely stay put and rest! Do they have a plan for any extra monitoring of you now?

@Fivebyfive2 Good luck for the next few days lovely - enjoy these last few nights of peace and quiet!! Hope everything goes brilliantly with the section. Everything I have heard about planned sections all sounds so positive :)

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2019 23:15

@Fivebyfive2 ahh that's fab news with the colostrum!! Thanks for the explanation, I'd have zero idea where to start 😂😅

@PippaPug just mulling along really, I'm so bloody tired honestly - the waddle has already started!! It's so annoying but I'm glad you've still got your scan, hopefully you're seen by someone lovely next week! I'm the same, I don't mind visits when she's here but I get really bad anxiety thinking about organising and being fussed over 😅 I'd quite like a nice pregnancy pic but I'm sure I'll find an occasion to dress up eventually 😂 definitely have the nesting bug!!! I just want to tear the house up and do every single room again. Has to be perfect for when she's here - curse you Pinterest!!!

@MrsEG im following that mantra too, especially with sweet stuff "the baby wants it" 😂 definitely planning on enjoying it as much as I can when I can keep food down 😂 I've found that before I was pregnant I just "fancied food" - that's now so much more intense and the baby (me) NEEDS it 😂 I bet you're feeling relieved with the handover?!

A friend tagged me in an avocado pregnancy related post, and now I want to cry because I NEED guacamole and nachos and I can't have it 😭

Fivebyfive2 · 12/12/2019 00:06

I'm starting to have a little panic about (of all things) going for a poo after the op!! I might ask the midwife about it actually. Other than that, feeling positive, we gave our preferences to the Dr today (music, lower lights as he comes out, skin to skin etc) and all are doable apparently 🙂 They're saying if the op happens first thing Friday, we could be home Sunday if all is OK!

@MrsEG, glad you enjoyed NCT... When you do massage, see if your teacher hands out tennis balls!! 😀

TrashKitten10 · 12/12/2019 07:24

Just popping in to say @Fivebyfive2 try not to worry about using the loo after your c-section and ask for some laxatives once you're up and on your feet. Not before this as they gave me some in hospital and it was very effective and involved me abandoning baby in the middle of the night to hobble/run to the toilet 😂 It was absolutely fine though and the most difficult part was getting up and down off the toilet :)

@LokiCat Congratulations on your baby girl ☺️

@cupcakesandglitter thanks, me too! Fed up with it now...it's been lingering since Sunday! Your nursery sounds like it's on track and how exciting to have a new bathroom too. Though not an ideal time for work if you're feeling sick again.

@BabySquid glad to hear you're feeling good and doing as you're told and chilling! Lest you end up taped to the sofa Grin

@Fivebyfive2 glad you're being well looked after and the baby is doing well. Excellent work on the colostrum harvesting too - what a productive stay you're having! Great that your preferences can all be met with a c-section too. And Sunday for home is no time at all.

@PippaPug ooo thanks for these - my mum wants to get some so I'll pass them on to her. That seems like a really good price too. Also, they are just adorable! Yeah I don't blame you on skipping the baby shower, just do whatever feels best for you. I'm really not one for all these extra forced get togethers with huge groups of people. Hen parties are my ideal of hell on earth Grin. Cold is still hanging around, but I slept for 12 hours yesterday so hopefully that'll give it the boot soon.

@MrsEG glad you had a good time at NCT and your teacher is sharing all the sides of the spectrum, that's so useful. Very funny about the clueless dads! We have a similar bunch at ours and not to sound like a raging big head, but I was so proud of DH at ours as he knew so much more than the rest of them just from reading his 'pregnancy for men' book Grin

Happy election day everyone! Grin Has everyone voted? I'll be crawling out of the house at some point to go and do it. Thought I'd wait for the lunchtime crowds to die down / my eyes to hopefully stop watering. Does anyone else get that with a cold?! It's so annoying! x

Hi ladies sorry been MIA work is well let's just say I'm looking at ACAS for help as there is a lack of sympathy and understanding about HG. Back to work today and was sick again this morning.

@BabySquid hope you're doing better now must have been a scary time.

I'll have a scroll through and properly catch up
X

Hi all! Almost the weekend!! 😁
I wrote a long reply this morning on the way into work and then lost it all 🤦🏻‍♀️ thought I'd try again at lunch.

@MrsEG it takes a bit of prodding unfortunately, but I am eventually getting a seat!
If occu health offer me everything you've got, then I'll be very happy! I was in agony by the time I left work. DH also has a low seated car, so the little drive we went on last night didn't help my hips. He's now suggested this is a great excuse for a new car 🤦🏻‍♀️
Your boss sounds wonderful. How lovely to offer you to continue working from home! It is great when they're understanding about it all, makes it so much easier! Glad NCT went well, sounds pretty useful. I'm really excited to go to the antenatal classes the hospital is offering!

@ELW85 hope you had a safe flight! Enjoy the trip - I can't wait to hear all about it when you're back 😊

@PippaPug I'll have a look at the IKEA ones. I'm just after a unit with lots of drawers, as I don't think we'll be getting a wardrobe in yet. I've seen one at Mamas and Papas as well (although it is very pricey!).
I'm great thank you. Just waiting for the Xmas hols to start; need a break from work and can't wait to get away for a bit (we're off to NYC, as well). Planning on doing some Boxing Day shopping there and make a start on getting the big items when we're back in Jan 😁 I know time will start flying by once we're in the new year and I'll be panicking that we have nothing sorted 😂 how are you doing?
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the midwives, how awful of them to act like that when I'm sure you were feeling vulnerable. I'm glad the consultant was able to reassure you and how lovely of her to give you a hug! You're allowed to go in as often as you need to, especially for something like reduced movements (which they clearly state is very important). I hope you're doing okay now? Glad Pip and Pop are all well!

@purplefig haha, DH and I are exactly the same! I'm currently in the spare room (where the bigger bed is) whilst DH recovers. I just don't want to risk it whilst pregnant and it is awful not being able to take anything to help. Sorry to hear the cold is still around! I hate the awful watery eyes!
Ah thanks re contraption. I'll mention it to occu health. Our desk has 4 monitors, so I wasn't sure if that would affect it!
We'll be going to vote this evening after work! 😊

@cupcakesandglitter thanks lovely!
Haha DH used her name for the first time yesterday, which I wasn't expecting so my first though was 'whose that? 🤔) 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 now in the habit myself and I love it, makes it feel so much more real 😁
Wow you've been doing great on the renovations, well done! Sorry to hear your sickness is back. Nothing worse than not being able to keep anything down when all you want to do is enjoy food!

@BabySquid aww bless your DH. I'm glad you're getting a chance to relax as much as possible! Sorry you won't be able to have a baby shower, but a celebration after sounds lovely! 😁

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like you're getting looked after very well at the hospital. It's great that they can meet all your preferences as well. Ahh so excited for you!
Well done on the colostrum as well and thanks for sharing tips, I had no idea!

@TrashKitten10 thanks so much lovely! How are you and Daisy getting on?

@MrsH497 sorry to hear work are still being so unsympathetic about it all. I hope ACAS are able to help!

Craving a big bar of Galaxy right now, but the weather is awful outside to go for a wander to the shops. Might have to hold that craving till home time 😂

Hope you're all having a lovely day xx

@cupcakesandglitter Baby definitely does need it too! I’m SO hungry these days I mentioned it at my 28 week appt and the consultant say that’s why in the third tri you should get an extra 200 calories each day as babies are growing! I definitely have more than that haha but still! Get yourself some guac and Doritos!!

@Fivebyfive2 Ha I’ll prepare myself for tennis balls!! I’ve been told for a section take in some peppermint oil capsules to help with digestion post-op, could someone grab some for you? Good luck tomorrow!!

@purplefig Gold star for your DH! I thought mine was clued in but nope, hopeless - he didn’t even know what a sweep was! I have indeed voted, I was there early doors with DH and the dog! We live in a funny area that is always neck and neck Tory and LD, so even though I’m a staunch Labour supporter I have to go tactical, which is so hard! Voting with your head and not your heart!! Sorry to hear the cold is still at you - get plenty of rest this weekend!

@MrsH497 Sorry to hear you’re having a rubbish time of it :( Hope it all gets resolved soon for you!

@LokiCat my DH has a really low seated car too, I hate it, I can’t get out of it!! Good luck with occupational health and don’t be afraid to ask for things! Anything to help! Enjoy the Galaxy, it’ll be worth the trip :)

We are having our annual Boxing Day feast at work today where everyone brings something in for a buffet - I have never seen so much food! I am ashamed to say I had not one but two helpings of Yule Log... Falling asleep at my desk now! Roll on 5pm; bath and bed for me tonight!!

Happy Friday everyone!

@MrsEG - aim glad your enjoying NCT, we start ours on Monday evening which I’m looking forward too, also a bit nervous about! I would complain about the midwife, if I even knew her name - she didn’t introduce herself to me at all and just made me feel very vulnerable when I was already worried about the babies. I’m not sure if we will discuss birthing - it seems it varies from area to area, but I’m hoping to see my twin midwife as I have a few questions to ask her (Twin day is Thursday but as I’m working I asked for this apt to be moved) as I haven’t heard anything back so far from the hospital I’m hoping it’s good, normally it’s three full days so today is the last day, if they don’t ring me today I should be fine, thankfully!
When’s your official last day at work, must be soon?

@cupcakesandglitter
Ah yes the wonderful waddle!! I get it more once I have been on my feet all day so after work, it’s so unflattering isn’t it! I would love a wonderful pregnancy pic with hair/make up done, I just look like I have swallowed a beach ball! Oh my goodness I’m glad it’s not just me, I have decided we need to even sort the garden out 🙄😂🙈 it’s crazy what hormones do to you isn’t it?!

@purplefig - I thought that was such a good price, 2 for £10 and John Lewis was 1 for £8 I think we have 6 or 8 now? I love them! Even though the hen party was what I wanted I still found it stressful! I think I’m going to skip the baby shower and say if any friends want to meet me beforehand and go for lunch then I’m happy with that ☺️ A lot of them seemed surprised that I don’t want to come back to London to do a afternoon tea or anything in Jan/Feb! Hope your cold is almost gone?

@LokiCat - Hope you got your galaxy bar! We didn’t want to get a wardrobe, personally I find them really unhelpful for babies and small children!
Saying that I found the exact same unit from a different website and it was cheaper then wayfair too - do you want me to find the link?
Ohhh how long are you going to NYC for? Not to much longer left at work for this side of the year thankfully!
I’m all good and can feel Pip and Pop dancing around, looking forward to seeing them on Monday again and DH has the day of as well which will be lovely as it’s probably the last time he will see them before they are here!

So spoke to the mum yesterday and next Friday is my last day working before Mat leave! I explained that by Jan I will be 32 weeks pregnant, it’s high risk and I obviously wouldn’t be able to give her any notice if something happened whilst I was at home, or if I needed to go to hospital whilst at work - I wouldn’t be able to wait - she agreed and I think she realised it wouldn’t be the wisest having me next month as I wouldn’t be the most reliable through no fault of my own, so I have 4 working days left including today! I feel a bit weird about it all but I know it’s the right decision for the babies.

How is everyone’s Friday going?
