Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@LokiCat eeeee a little girl!! How exciting 💕

@ELW85 Thankyou, it seems mad time for everyone at work in the run up to Christmas! Hope you get some time for yourself soon! Xx

MrsR16 · 09/12/2019 12:01

@MrsEG thank you! He's just wonderful! Your cake looks incredible! I'm so glad you enjoyed your baby shower! And you look absolutely amazing 😊

@LokiCat you'd be more than welcome to ask any questions you want! I'll do my best to help out 😊 aww, a little girl! Congratulations!

@cupcakesandglitter it really was simply amazing!

@BabySquid I really hope you're doing ok lovely. Glad to see baby's still moving lots and you're more reassured!

@thumper59 oh my goodness look at you two! So beautiful 😍

@ELW85 thank you lovely! It's well worth all the pain and uncomfortableness afterwards (cos good god, I miss being able to sit down normally!) 😂

MrsEG · 09/12/2019 12:19

@BabySquid Thanks lovely. Fingers crossed they send you home today! Hope those injections are doing the trick. Will they have to put you on bed rest or anything like that?

@thumper59 He is so gorgeous and you are looking so fabulous!! I remember a friend telling me the last 6 weeks of pregnancy drag so much but first 6 weeks of baby disappear in the blink of an eye!!

@LokiCat Thanks lovely it was such a great day! Ahh a little girl how fabulous! Great to hear all is happy and healthy. It’s an amazing scan isn’t it, I couldn’t believe they could see the spine and brain and all else!! Celebrating with a McFlurry sounds fabulous!!

@ELW85 Enjoy NYC this week!!

@MrsR16 Thanks lovely - how are you getting on with little Ethan so far?

OP posts:
purplefig · 09/12/2019 12:32

@PippaPug it's interesting how attitudes vary so much isn't it? My mum only yesterday was telling me about these great little nightgown things that make nappy changing a doddle...I was like, oooo somebody has mentioned them to me Grin - she's going to pick me a couple up. Well done for standing firm re: visitors in the aftermath of birth, to be honest I think most people are going to be understanding and if they're not they're the ones that are being unreasonable. Good idea getting the midwife on bouncer duty for your NHS family member though!

@MrsR16 You enjoy the hell out of your newborn bubble lovely lady, you've earned this! Thanks for sharing your birth story - what an incredible experience! I'm so glad to hear you're doing well and recovering.

@Larrydavid delighted to hear your NHS scan went well and your harmony test results were positive, that must be very reassuring. Are you getting married after the baby has arrived?

@LokiCat oh god yes....my homemade fertility smoothie hahaa! To be honest, I think I'd do it again next time Blush if nothing else it's certainly packed full of good stuff and tastes delicious. Ahhhh amazing you felt kicks this weekend - it's incredible isn't it?! Your weekend with your parents sounds lovely. Just seen your scan update - a girl!! How lovely, you can start thinking of names now Grin

@BabySquid oh my god that must have been so frightening for you - so glad you're in safe hands and you can feel the baby moving. What's their plan of action for you?

@MrsEG Glad yoga felt good and what a lovely treat your sister got you! You look absolutely RADIANT in your baby shower pictures. So glad you had a lovely time. Also oh my goodness...8 working days until maternity leave...the countdown is on!! Grin

@thumper59 oh he's just an absolute pudding! How're you doing with the adjustment to motherhood lovely?

It's been an eventful few days on here! Just caught up now. We had a lovely weekend - NCT on Friday was great, we set up a little whatsapp group and it feels reassuring to already have that support in place. Saturday we went into town and stocked up on birth bag bits. My back was pretty bad after that, so I took it fairly easy the rest of the weekend - pottered about writing cards / starting wrapping, did a bit of food prep, but mainly lay on the sofa with the dog and a hot water bottle. Feeling much better now.

Officially 31 weeks today and getting pretty big, strong movements every day now. Interestingly, my mum was saying to me she never got any real regular movement with me and certainly not 10 kicks a day...so it just goes to show all babies are different. I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow and get my blood results back (to find out if I'm anaemic). Have a great Monday everyone! x

ELW85 · 09/12/2019 13:24

@LokiCat - must have x-post earlier - congratulations on your scan and having a girl!
Enjoy your day from home; I’m hugely jealous of the McFlurry!

MrsEG · 09/12/2019 14:39

@purplefig I know! I’m practically counting down in hours now haha. I’m already reading emails like ‘yeah this isn’t my problem anymore’! How lovely your NCT group is all set up! Have you many more sessions left? We’ve got two this week and two next. Sorry to hear your back was so bad afterwards - sounds like you did the right thing just rest and more rest! Yeah my sister had an anterior placenta and said she never even really felt kicks, just movement. It’s funny for me as I have one twin who kicks and prods, and one who just shifts/rolls around! Shows how different two babies can be even in the same womb!! Happy 31 weeks. Where is the time going?!

MrsR16 · 09/12/2019 14:46

@MrsEG do you know what? We're doing really well 😊 we were actually able to get some sleep last night! He woke up at 2 for a change and feed and then I had to wake him up at 6.45 for the next one! He is super alert which is very strange considering he's 3 days old. He is quite sicky, but he's still learning how to eat and digest so I'm not concerned.

@purplefig thank you! It is just so amazing 😊

Sorry for Ethan spam, but look at this adorable little face 😍😍😍

purplefig · 09/12/2019 16:40

@MrsEG hahaa love it - very envious and cannot wait to get to that stage with work. So done. I'm finding being at my desk more and more uncomfortable with each passing week. We've only got one more 4 hr NHS session left, which I'm grateful for to be honest as sitting for that long is pretty sore. How're you finding yours? It's so funny how your two guys are already so different, even down to their movements. Thanks - I can't believe I'm down to single digit week countdown now!

@MrsR16 oh he's such a cutie! Glad you're doing really well.

thumper59 · 09/12/2019 16:45

@MrsR16 Thankyou, congrats again. Isn't it amazing- re for the sitting down, I almost tore myself a new one 🙄😂 but I found sitting on top of a v pillow most comfortable for the first few weeks with stitches. It does pass! The first week is sore and after that the stitches get a little itchy but mine felt fine after 2 weeks I'd say, and I had several grazes, And 2 2nd degree tears (one was borderline 3 but after a second opinion they managed to stitch me in the delivery room). I used the spray from boots which is like another version of spritz for bits(cheaper) and found that really soothing. Just re read your birth story, it's so lovely! Unfortunately our labour didn't quite go to plan which is why I didn't want to write about it on here, but it's true what they say it's all soon forgotten about once they're here 😊

@MrsEG Thankyou, yep that's true!! I found the last week of pregnancy an absolute drag and I only went 3 days over, but since he's born it's flown and it feels like he never wasn't here!

@purplefig Thankyou, I am absolutely loving it! I can't remember life without him! I am lucky that I have a great support network around me, we have fantastic supportive family on both sides so it's just a dream really. Some days are hard, but they are quick to remind me I am doing a great job in a really demanding time and that lifts me back up. I am very attached to him, but am starting to give him up for an hour here and there to grandparents so I can get a bath/wrap pressies/ nip to town on my own and it's actually really nice, so what I would say is when help is offered do take it, and alone time is still very important too! OH only had a week off and has been super busy with extra long days since he went back to work, usually 7am- 8:30-9pm so we had a lot of time alone but it is nice to get into a routine. Enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy- I do quite miss it!

Fivebyfive2 · 09/12/2019 18:19

Hi all!

@MrsR16, aaahhh he's so cute! I love seeing the baby pics on here 😀

@thumper59, sounds like you're doing really well, it's great that you have that support system! Xx

Sooo I had a midwife appointment today, little lad is still transverse! Got a scan on Mon when I'll be 36 and 4, if he's still in that position then options will be discussed. It looks like extra monitoring and probably a c section a bit early... Possibly before Christmas (🤯😳) but will have to wait and see!!

MrsR16 · 09/12/2019 19:22

@purplefig thank you! We're very lucky for sure 😊 I echo @thumper59 - make the most of the last few weeks! My bump's all but disappeared and I do miss it! Although it's great that Ethan can kick and squirm and not affect me haha 😂😂

@thumper59 oh goodness, bless you! That's the thing I'm remembering - this will all pass and I'll be back to normal fairly soon! Thanks for the tips though, lovely 😊 you're absolutely right - everything is forgotten about once you've got your baby in your arms!

@Fivebyfive2 oh little humbug you've got right there hey? 😂 ooh, before Christmas? That is exciting! How are you feeling about things?

ELW85 · 09/12/2019 20:51

@MrsR16 - he’s absolutely gorgeous and well worth not sitting down normally!

@MrsEG - thank you so much; very much looking forward to the break. And your mat leave is imminent! How exciting?
Your baby shower looked great and you looked absolutely wonderful; totally glowing! I’m so pleased you had a good time.

@purplefig - I can’t actually believe you’re 31 weeks. Have you heard anything through about your maternity allowance? I know they’ve got a backlog but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!

MrsEG · 09/12/2019 22:31

@MrsR16 He is gorgeous! Oh my look at that little face! I bet you just can’t stop staring!

@purplefig single digit week countdown for the win!! It won’t be long until your mat leave now; even those lovely hand days in Jan! Yeah it’s crazy - it does make me worry a little that they’ll be super different (for all the wrong reasons - won’t nap or feed at the same time!) but it’s been amazing to experience two at once, it really has! Oh that’s good that you’ve just got the one session left now! Have you found it useful? We have a 2 hour session on weds and then a 6 hour (!!!) session all day on sat!

@thumper59 It’s soo good to hear you’re doing so well and managing to get out and about too, I bet it makes the world of difference! I have mum down to pop in for an hour a few days a week once I’ve recovered so I can go running again and I cannot wait already - especially on those days where I am well and truly waddling about!!

@Fivebyfive2 Eeep good luck for the scan on Monday and get that bag packed...!

@ELW85 Thanks lovely - recycling the dress for another event this weekend! I bet you can’t wait for NYC after your crazy hours recently! How long are you over there for?

Ugh I had such a crud night! WFH, 4:30, I’m 30 mins from logging off and PJs on and I hear a rustle in the kitchen - the dog had gotten in to a huge box of chocolate truffles and eaten the lot 🙈 Long story short we spent a long time at the vets while he had his stomach purged. His belly and my wallet are now very empty!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 09/12/2019 22:45

@ELW85 I think so too! 😂 all mums are biased, I know, but we're allowed!

@MrsEG he is such a time waster! I'm literally doing nothing all day other than staring! You're so lucky that you'll have 2 to stare at! Oh no, that's really not good about your pooch! They have a habit of doing stuff we really don't want them to do at the worst times, hey? I hope he's doing ok now.

LokiCat · 10/12/2019 07:30

Morning all!

@ELW85 thanks lovely 😊 enjoy NYC this week! How long are you away for? How lovely that you were able to donate some toys. Hope you're able to relax a little today before you fly out tomorrow!

@thumper59 thank you 😁 that's amazing how much support you are getting from both families. It must make things a lot easier I can imagine. Sounds like you're doing brilliant 😊

@MrsR16 thank you 🥰 aww Ethan is so adorable! I wouldn't be able to stop staring either haha. Glad you're both doing so well!

@MrsEG thank you 😊 it really was amazing! She went into details of the heart, brain, spine etc. then because little miss was being a bit shy, we got a view from below to check the sex. Sonographer said as nothing is sticking out between the legs, it is most likely a girl 😂
Oh no, sorry to hear about your evening and your doggy. I hope he is okay?

@purplefig thank you!! Definitely re using fertility drink again - it obviously worked so well last time :)
I think we're pretty much sorted on a name actually! Me and DH had been talking about them for a little while and had one picked out for a boy and a girl quite early on, so it's one thing we can cross off thankfully!
Ahh happy 31 weeks! Glad your NCT classes are going well, sounds like you'll have a great supportive group which I'm sure will be handy further along down the line.

@Fivebyfive2 ahh, looks like little man is happy and cosy in his position! Good luck for the scan on Monday. How are you feeling?

Stuck on such a packed delayed train this morning. I forgot that our train services were planning a 28 day strike this month. Plus with a signal failures on top 😭 I really wish I was back in bed right now! Thankfully I have a seat at least!

I hope you all have a lovely day xx

PippaPug · 10/12/2019 08:54

Morning,

How is everyone?

@BabySquid @MrsH497 @Larrydavid @LokiCat @MrsEG @cupcakesandglitter
Thanks all for the excitement of wayfair delivering! I will even attach a photo as I’m that pleased 😂 the £515 unit has ended up costing us a grand total of £150! They gave us another refund yesterday and I pointed out there is a chip and they offered to send replacements out to me but I didn’t want it - so they gave us another refund too, shocking that it took this long!

Lokicat - Congratulations on your little girl, how majorly exciting! Delayed trains are the worst, my work trains are delayed all this month, south western railway by any chance?

MrsEG - how’s not your dog, poorly thing! Your baby cake shower looks fab! Children are almost 5 and 7 - so big 😭 got all the cuddles from them, although the youngest isn’t that impressed about the idea of the twins sharing “her room” when they arrive - they stay with me every few months and so they have now realised they won’t have their bedroom anymore 🙈😂

@MrsR16 - Ethan looks adorable! So pleased your home! Congratulations again 💐 your birth sounds wonderful too l 😄

@purplefig - honestly the little night gowns are amazing! I love them! I’m hoping most people will understand but I have already people asking if they can come and visit me in hospital and I just say I don’t know yet, they look at me like I’m mad, like why wouldn’t I want visitors?! Hope your midwife appt goes well!

I think I have caught up with everyone 🙈

I’m in for my second GTT test and slightly annoyed by the amount of families that turn up who take up all the seats and make loads of noise - so far there is a couple who are watching a iPad out loud, mum, dad, Grandma and two children (who are running around) a mum, Grandma and a child who is strapped into the buggy watching Peppa Pig On loud, another person who has 3 people with her.....I understand some people need a bit of extra support but to bring all extra people in a small waiting room is insane! Half of them have headphone in so aren’t even talking with each other 🙄 Most of them are having the glucose tests too as all coming out with the drink like I did, so it’s not even a scan, or speaking to the consultant - just two blood tests - I think I’m annoyed because I’m hungry though 😂😂

Hope everyone has a good day!

purplefig · 10/12/2019 09:58

@PippaPug oh god yeah I remember at my 12 week scan one girl had bought in the entire extended family and there was nowhere for anyone else to sit! A midwife actually came out and told them to move as pregnant women should be given priority with the seating. Pretty poor they needed to be told really. So glad your Wayfair nightmare is over...we deffo need to see these units!

@LokiCat That's great you've already got a name picked out - you're on the ball! Sorry about the delayed train, that sounds dreadful.

@MrsEG oh the poor pooch and your poor wallet. They always pick the best times don't they?! Glad he's OK now. Yeah it must be such a wild ride experiencing two at once and it will be a constant reminder that the same parenting = two different babies which I imagine is reassuring. A SIX HOUR SESSION?!!? Wow that is full on! I've found NCT mainly beneficial for meeting parents-to-be in all honesty. It's been nice going through all the birth stuff but I feel like I'd already covered most of it in the Hypnobirthing pack / books / on here with you guys. Also I like our teacher, but she's a bit scatty and I don't feel like she's always up-to-date with the most recent research. E.g. she told someone that having the injection to get the placenta out puts you more at risk of the uterus contracting and the placenta getting stuck. But I looked up NICE guidelines and actually the injection is associated with slightly lower levels of placenta retention / hemorrhaging. She also said it makes lots of women feel sick...but NICE said that it makes 1/10 women feel sick...but 0.5/10 women feel sick who don't have the injection. So I don't feel like I can 100% trust what she says. How have you found it?

@ELW85 time is flying eh?! No news about mat allowance and given they have said I won't hear for 14 weeks, it doesn't look like I'll get a decision much before my due date. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so appalling. How're you doing lovely?

@MrsR16 genuinely cannot imagine missing my bump at this stage Grin ...it constantly gets in the way already! Had to get DH to help me put my walking boots on the other day!! I think I'll miss feeling the little wriggler though.

@thumper59 so pleased to hear you're loving it and also that you've got a fab support network setup. How close do you live to your family out of interest? Great advice about making the most of any support you have. Luckily I have a very willing nanny-to-be on hand and DH works 10 mins from home and pretty normal 9 - 5 hours.

Have a fab day everyone! I've got my midwife appointment at lunchtime, other than that not much to report other than whinging about my back / second cold of the season already! DH has it too and I am murderously envious of his lemsip... x

PippaPug · 10/12/2019 11:08

Wayfair chest of drawers!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!
BabySquid · 10/12/2019 13:34

Update... I'm home!!! 🥳🥳 baby still exactly where it should be too 🙌🏻
I'll have regular check ups at the hospital and I'm not to do anything too strenuous (DH has basically given the stern word of 'you're doing nothing'!) they've said that baby's on the small side but that doesn't bother me as both DH and I were in the 6lb range at full term but they'll still keep an eye on growth. I'm just so glad to be home!
@PippaPug those drawers look amazing, worth the wait in the end (and the refunds!)
@MrsEG your poor doggy, hope he's ok now though, aren't they just buggers for getting at all the things they shouldn't!!
@purplefig sorry to hear about your second cold already! They totally suck when you can't take anything for them! Hope midwife goes well.
@LokiCat congrats on the little girl, and well done for deciding on a name so soon, we're still struggling I think, we have a short list but waiting till it's here to decide finally.
Hope everyone has a great day.

purplefig · 10/12/2019 14:19

@PippaPug oooo very nice indeed! I hope the very sight of them doesn't anger you each time you spot them Grin

@BabySquid glad your home! So does that mean that not all of your waters have gone? Is protocol they keep monitoring you for infection? Sorry if that's a really dim question/s!

Back from my 31 week midwife appointment and my bloods are fine. Apparently the reason I had to do a repeat is that they would be considered slightly anemic in general, but for pregnancy (especially this stage) they're normal. Got to hear the heartbeat, though it was quieter than usual which made her think he/she is back to back. Get spinning, baby!

BabySquid · 10/12/2019 14:29

@purplefig not all my waters have gone, just most, when they did they scan it still has enough in there and hopefully will keep producing more topping it up, even though I'm still leaking a little still (maternity pads for me for the foreseeable!)
And yeah they'll keep doing blood tests to monitor for infection but these antibiotics I have should keep things at bay. Just no sexy time and no swimming are the two golden rules! I can have a bath as long as it's just plain water which is good as it eases my backache.
Also, when they had me on the HR monitors it would go quiet from time to time but they're 100% facing the right way, so I wouldn't worry.

purplefig · 10/12/2019 15:17

@BabySquid ahh that all makes sense - how incredible is your body just casually producing more amniotic fluid to top it up?! Glad it's all sounding really positive and under control. Oh that's interesting about positioning, because it doesn't feel like he/she is back to back (swear I can feel back/bum on bump). MW did say they move loads and don't worry about positions for a good few weeks yet.

MrsEG · 10/12/2019 15:57

Afternoon all! Pooch is fine today, back to his usual self. A bit lethargic last night but the vets seem to have worked their magic. I was bloody looking forward to those truffles, too...

@MrsR16 Ha oh I hadn’t even thought of that, I’ll never get anything done just staring at two babies all day!! He is so so cute :)

@LokiCat Ha! At 17 weeks there was very clearly something sticking out between the legs of my two so I’d say it’s a very safe bet she’s a girl!! Ugh train strikes are the worst, especially this time of year?!

@PippaPug Great news about Wayfair and the drawers look fab! I hate that in the hospital, so so much! They are actually very strict at my hospital with visitors for scans and appointments and all letters dictate ‘ONE companion’ only but you do get a few who rock up with the entire family. It’s ridiculous!! My midwife once said the wards are even worse, with visitors. She said the amount of time she has to waste trying to kick people out so she can actually do her job and check on mum/baby!! Hope the GTT test all went okay?

@purplefig 6 hours, I know!! They’ve told us to bring a packed lunch!! I honestly can’t imagine what we’ll be doing! That’s so interesting about your teacher - it’s so weird how much NCT courses and teachers differ from place to place; there doesn’t seem to be any ‘set’ process or anything I have found? Glad the appointment went well! Don’t babies HR slow a little as they get bigger anyway? Or am I making that up?? Fab to hear no anaemia either!

@BabySquid So pleased your back home!! Get your feet up and rest! I’m under similar instruction from 30 weeks - anything women would ordinarily do to induce natural labour is on the ‘don’t even think about it’ list for me - keep babies inside as long as we can!! How are you feeling?

Well I have just had my handover at work!! Just a week to go now, I’ll basically be doing admin and a whole bunch of nothing. Scary and exciting all at once! Packing my hospital bag tonight just so it’s done before our December starts getting busy. It feels so weird to do considering I’m desperate to keep babies inside until the end of Jan but I guess I need to be prepared!

Evening all!

Hope you all had lovely weekends, mine was spent at work. Had day off yesterday to try and start Xmas shopping and then back at work today! Can't wait til next Sat and the start of 6 days off in a row over Xmas.

@PippaPug ooh I'll have a wee look at M&S too then. Glad your order finally arrived correctly! Lovely set of drawers.

@MrsR16 aww, I can't imagine that feeling of looking at something you made that you love so much! Can't wait. Your birth story was great, thanks so much for sharing.

@LokiCat so glad you're feeling the kicks now, it's so lovely!! And congratulations on the scan, a lovely little girl!!

@MrsEG your baby shower sounded wonderful and that cake it fab! You looked amazing! I think if I was aiming for a vaginal delivery with twins I would have an epidural, just in case twin 2 was benign a monkey. Tbh I'd probably be secretly hoping twin one was breech or transverse so I could have an elective section 😂😂. Hope your dog is feeling better!

@BabySquid glad you got home again. Everything crossed for you that you wee one stays comfy for a while longer

@ELW85 have the best time in NYC!!

@purplefig glad all went well at midwife!

MrsEG · 10/12/2019 22:01

@LikeTheFruit Roll on the Christmas hols!! That’s fab you’re getting 6 days off too. Our office always closes so I’m so used to being off but my sister always had to go in to a Xmas leave lottery and she’s come up trumps this year and has 5 solid days off! Yeah I think I’m definitely going to go for one; with NCT and the twins sessions specifically I’m really going off the idea of vaginal birth for twins because of all the unknowns with twin 2!! Frustratingly the consultants are all so lovely and very much ‘it’s totally your decision!’ and I’m like NO tell me what to do haha! Enjoy the Xmas shopping!
