Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@MrsEG Totally hear you on the tracking thing - it's a complete minefield and surely can't help with anxiety and stress levels! Glad the boys are back to their usual antics this morning.

I know I harp on endlessly about PBC, but if you can get DH to watch it I really think it'll make him realise the importance of birth. My DH said it's also given him the confidence to know how to actually help in birth, as I think a lot of dads-to-be (understandably) don't have any idea what to do - it's such a foreign experience. DH now has his list of things to crack on with / be aware of from PBC and I think (hope) it'll help when the time comes.

Sorry to hear your PGP is bad at the mo - hopefully physio next week will help. I'm just back from walking the dog and even though I know hills set my back off...what did I do? Currently sat at my desk nursing my back with a hot water bottle. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes!

@PippaPug Sorry to hear about your awful service from Wayfair! So frustrating. I've ordered a few bits from them no problem, thought the wait time is often ridiculously long. Are you going to send them back?

@MrsR16 I know! It gave me so much empathy for women struggling with infertility. Because while 9 months is nothing, I still couldn't stop the thoughts of 'will this ever happen' creeping in. And it seemed to get harder and harder each month.

@ELW85 You've had such a full on week with all your travel I'm not surprised! Have you got a chilled weekend on the horizon? The Crown binge session for example!??! Yeah I think my problem with HBC is that she just seems to play the same sort of character (Bellatrix!) in everything she's in.

@Fivebyfive2 ahhh in-laws...they're never boring are they?! Grin Glad DH stepped in and sorted it out.

@BabySquid Sorry to hear you're uncomfy and there aren't any pregnancy friendly classes near you. Someone was saying up thread (sorry I can't remember who...can I blame 'baby brain'?!) that they're going to a normal Pilates class, but the teacher will modify moves for them so you could ask about that? I imagine a yoga studio would be fairly accommodating. Or if you like swimming, what about doing some lengths?

Happy Friday everyone! Any nice weekend plans? Tomorrow we're going to go to Halfords and I'm not leaving until we've agreed on a car seat! We're also meeting up with some friends in the evening for a drink which will be nice. Otherwise I'm planning on taking it pretty easy. x

MrsEG · 22/11/2019 15:48

@Fivebyfive2 Sounds interesting/daunting hah! I’m looking forward to ours now. The first session is our add-on twin workshop and I just got the email with the course overview today! Are you finding it useful?

@MrsR16 I love the show so much; I don’t know how he does it and not take a new dog home every week!! Oh how fabulous, enjoy your weekend of baby-showers! Have you got an outfit planned? I still have nothing to wear for mine!

@purplefig I’ve joined the FB group for the PBC now (had a search and found some nice twin birth stories!!) so I have all the course ready now so think I’ll get DH to join in. I really just don’t think he’s thought about the birth at all; even with paternity leave he’s like ‘I’ll start it as soon as we’re home from the hospital to maximise our leave’ and when I try and mention that he will also need at least a day or two off for the birth as well it’s like it flies over his head!
Although saying that - at hospital yesterday, the woman in the bed next to me was 41 weeks and had been sent in with high blood pressure; they monitored it the whole time we were there and as we were waiting to be discharged a doctor came in and said to her ‘I don’t think you’ll be going home; we’ll come and talk to you about induction very soon’ and her DH was there like ‘Right, I’ll go and call work!’ And I said to my DH - that’s the kind of thing that could happen! As if you’ll just be trundling off to leave me to it 🙈 I don’t doubt for one second that he’ll be with me for the birth but I really, really don’t think he understands at all how long that can take!

Oh no, stupid hills!!! Yeah I’m really in pain today and struggling to sit down a bit - will go to yoga in the morning for a stretch! Enjoy the car seat shopping!!

OP posts:
purplefig · 22/11/2019 16:20

@MrsEG ahhh I'm glad there are some good twin stories on there for you to delve into. Think the course will be so useful for DH and it'll click for him. Am I right in thinking he's self-employed? In my experience, it does add another layer of fun and games into arranging time off! Perhaps good stroke of luck having your DH overhear that conversation yesterday, because in that position of course he'd stay with you!

Well I've just had my first mild pregnancy panic. Came downstairs to make a cup of tea and had a missed call and text from the drs saying they wanted to repeat my bloods from Tuesday, no other details. Luckily I live really close, so I popped over to book the appointment and find out what it was for, but the receptionist said she couldn't see any other info and I'd have to wait to find out until my 2 week appointment!! The queue was huge behind me, so I left. I decided to ring back when I got home and get the duty dr to call back and go through the reasoning with me as there is no way I wouldn't be stewing in worry for two weeks. Rang up, "we don't do that except for emergencies", but fortunately this woman was able to access my records and it's for...suspected anemia (my levels were just slightly out of the normal range). PHEW. The whole thing has made me have so much empathy for women who go through all sorts in pregnancy...this was nothing and I was a bloody wreck! Off to finally make that cup of tea and do some deep breathing Grin

Have a lovely weekend all - catch-up with you all on Monday! x

MrsH497 · 22/11/2019 16:46

Evening ladies I survived my first day back! Absolutely exhausted so feet up with a mince pie and cuppa! Work have been great new project is a few more meetings but inspector happy for that to be my work day done. Not spoken to the old line manager about the appallingly worded email about the miscarriage so I'm ignoring it and enjoying my weekend!

Hope everyone has a brilliant weekend lovely ladies and bumps xx

thumper59 · 22/11/2019 17:29

Good evening ladies hope your well. I am going to catch up ( ha! Try, with the spare seconds I get when Freddie naps)

All is well here, OH went back to work this week so me and Freddie have been getting into our own little routine, I am loving it! Even though all I seem to do morning and night is change nappies and make bottles 😂. I wouldn't change it for the world 💙

He's 2 weeks old now as of yesterday! And he's put 10 oz on since he was born, he lost 1 oz in his first 5 days but midwife weighed him on Wednesday and he'd put 10 on so he's 8lb 13oz now!

Fivebyfive2 · 22/11/2019 17:44

@thumper59, aaahh so good to hear all is going well! I love seeing the baby updates from the graduates 😀

@MrsH497, enjoy your mince pie! That's good about work being better and I don't blame you for ignoring that awful email! Xx

@MrsEG, we've found NCT really good, have been pleasantly surprised to be honest!! We were told by a few people it would all be really 'militant, natural, hippy, posh types' but that's not been our experience thank god! Good mix of people who have different ideas of what they want and the teacher is lovely. It's given us a few things to think about and we've picked up some tips. Even made a friend or two, hopefully! I'll let you know how '24 hours with baby' goes... I'll probably drop my doll in the first 10 mins 😂

Happy Friday ladies!! Xx

MrsEG · 22/11/2019 18:44

@purplefig He is self employed and that’s a massive factor - not knowing an exact date makes it so hard for him to juggle clients etc. But I think he overthinks it - I’m like 99% certain if I had a personal trainer and they text to cancel a session as their wife was in labour, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid!!
Oh what a horrid shock for you! My consultant mentioned at my 24 week appt that anaemia is super common in the latter months of pregnancy and told me to stock up on spinach and pulses ready for my 28 week bloods!! As a veggie though I’m sure you eat plenty of those already!

@MrsH497 So glad your return to work has gone well!

@thumper59 He is gorgeous. And you look fabulous! So pleased to hear he is doing so well and packing on the lbs!!

@Fivebyfive2 Ah that’s so good to hear! We were really in two minds as my sister hated hers, but she didn’t really go to anything pre-natal; I’ve done pregnancy yoga and aquanatal and have found I love chatting to the other mums to be, whereas it’s my sisters idea of hell (‘forced friendships’ as she would say). Saying that she’s made tonnes of friends at toddler groups?! But yeah, I’m glad we’ve gone for NCT now - looking forward to it. Do let us know how you get on - I’m sure you won’t drop the baby haha!!

Tropicana1 · 22/11/2019 22:17

@MrsEG glad to hear all was well with the twins yesterday but sorry you had such a scare, it's a really horrible feeling! I know had you mean about not knowing what we're supposed to be tracking! After going in for my check and everything being fine I thought, maybe I should have given it another few hours, but then I realised I'd rather do what I did and know all is well than ignore that niggling feeling and something actually be wrong!

@PippaPug Cat is doing ok, thanks for asking - had a couple of bad days where his temperature went right up and he stopped eating again, so I had a good long chat about him with a colleague today to make sure I'm not missing something which has given me some reassurance at least on that front. Got him on a new bloody expensive food which he currently is actually eating so fingers crossed he carries on - he's now turning his nose up at freshly cooked chicken the little bugger! that's amazing that you already know who will be born first and second!! Glad to hear the twins are growing well 😊

They measured my bump again when I went in for my check and it had only grown by 1cm, and I've just weighed myself and I've actually lost 3lbs over the last 3 weeks so I need to remember to mention that to the midwife next week for my 34 week appointment as everything says you should gain around 1lb per week in the third tri. I probably wouldn't be too bothered if it was one or the other but with some weight loss and a slow growing bump I just want to make sure everything's ok!

@MrsR16 - i actually welled up at the apprentice last night. Feel free to call me hormonally pathetic but Thomas really played on my poor pregnant heartstrings 😂

@Fivebyfive2 well done for avoiding the awkward baby shower additions 😂 I had a very small super casual "shower" organised by a small group of friends as well which was great because it meant I didn't have to go through the faff of organising a large thing I didn't really want that much!

thumper59 · 23/11/2019 10:24

@Fivebyfive2 Thankyou. Glad your enjoying nct! We didn't do any but did consider it for a while.

@MrsEG Thankyou! He is a chunk. Sorry your pgp has been giving you some jip! It isn't nice. Mine went pretty much straight after birth, and so did my heart burn! It's hard to get the men thinking like us, it all changes once they're here though! I barely get a look in with Fred when he's home 😂 you can guarantee baby will come on the one day you say 'what are the chances that'll happen'. Ie- Freddie coming on my birthday!

ELW85 · 23/11/2019 11:27

Morning all!

Enjoying a lovely lazy morning with DH before going to town and then getting ready for date night! Very exciting.

@purplefig - I actually think HBC just plays herself (to extremes) she hasn’t got a range really.
I blame Tim Burton for casting her in all of the goth roles ever 😂

@thumper59 - ah he’s gorgeous and you look awesome! It’s great to hear you’re in a routine too. I’m going to try and do the same when the time comes.

@MrsEG - you’re definitely getting to the finish line for your mat leave, so hopefully work is only going to get easier.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far!

PippaPug · 23/11/2019 12:19

Hello, Happy weekend everyone!

After a 10 hour day with a baby who wouldn’t really sleep as he was unwell - no rocking this time thankfully which is progress from last week! It took me a extra 1.5 hour to get home last night as trains were delayed and about 700 people waiting at the platform, got on a train and a security guard was helping put someone on the carriage in a wheelchair I offered to get off as it was heaving and he wouldn’t let me so he backed up causing him to elbow my stomach - which made me cry 🙈 my stomach at the end of the day is really sore/tight and he just didn’t help! Had to stand up for the hour train journey too so I got home and went straight to bed! So glad it’s Saturday now!
Wayfair are delivering today - third time lucky! But we only got a message at 9pm last night meaning our Saturday plans had to change 🙄 oh well let’s hope we get a functional cabinet in the right colour, no missing pieces and no scratches/chips or dents on any of them!

@MrsR16 - long days indeed - so glad it’s the weekend! Do you have any plans?

@ELW85 - hope you manage to rest this weekend!

@Fivebyfive2 - Glad that DH was able to smooth it over for you and you didn’t have to have them, nice that your MIL wants to be involved but you can’t really nominate other people to go in your space instead of you!

@BabySquid - sounds like you have everything under control for the baby! Hope your appointment went well and your Mum enjoyed it too :)

@MrsEG - I think your allowed to be a little selfish due to the fact your more vulnerable! It won’t be forever but it’s nice to your your DH supports you, esp when your struggling and you don’t want to be! Is anything helping the pain at all? Wayfair rung 30 mins ago saying they would be here in 40 mins - I can’t wait to have another 3 boxes turn up 🙈 so glad the babies are wriggling around lots for you!

@purplefig - everyone raved about Wayfair! We aren’t sending it back as they want have either offered for us to keep the old cabinet free of charge, or we can post it back to them and we have to pay for it to go back to them! The silly thing is it was about £500, all they need to do is collect it and re match the wood and they could re sell it (and just replace one piece of wood which is damaged) we are going to store it in a shed wrapped up and potentially take it with us when we eventually move. How did the car seats go?

@thumper59 - you look glowing! And what fab news that Freddie is putting on weight, he is clearly thriving! I hope your enjoying all the amazing baby cuddles!

@Tropicana1 - Glad to hear your cat is doing well, can’t believe turning their nose up to chicken 😂 funny little thing! Hope he continues to improve day by day! Yes it’s incredible we knew already which one will be born first - the one which we always knew ahoout (from about week 7 if I lay on my side I felt sick straight away so I said the baby is there....just didn’t realise there was another one hiding!)

Ohhhhhhh Wayfair is here (can you tell I’m excited!) wish me luck!

BabySquid · 23/11/2019 15:00

@PippaPug hope the Wayfair delivery was successful this time? My mum loved it, she said the scan was so educational looking at which bit is which as she's not seen one in over 30 years when she had me so quality will have changed massively!
@thumper59 look at little Freddie he's so cute. And you look really well too.

So the appointment yesterday was ok, lasted about 4 hours though as I saw everyone! We're controlling the diabetes with diet and exercise for now then looking at my levels in two weeks. I have a finger prick test kit to do 5x a day (which, for a tiny prick, hurts like a buggar!) levels so far are looking pretty good and I've not changed my diet massively yet so I'm thinking the initial test was so high because I'd not eaten properly the day before it as I was jet lagged AF!
We started decorating today 🤍

Tropicana1 · 23/11/2019 15:43

@PippaPug I know! He's given himself all these food aversions to everything I've been trying to get him to eat for the last 2 weeks!!
Glad the Wayfair delivery is here, fingers crossed all is ok this time!

I'm on call this weekend so was aiming to be really productive between call outs if I can, but currently catching up with David Attenborough while DH naps on the sofa 😂 so much for our productive weekend!

Lemonysherbet · 23/11/2019 21:24

I'm so awful at keeping up in here, I said I would do it today but I've slept instead 🙈

Got my screening results back from the NHS today but I don't really understand them, does anyone know what it all means? The letter says low risk but has loads of numbers that it doesn't explain and has a background risk and then adjusted risk.

MrsH497 · 23/11/2019 21:33

@Lemonysherbet I can compare it to mine as you're only a couple of weeks behind me if that helps? I didn't understand a lot of the numbers either!

Mums ordered the pram in JL Black Friday sale! Keeping it at her house for now. But I don't know what car seat to get...the maxi cosi pebble or the silver cross simplicity both connect to isofix and the pram so any thoughts ladies?

@PippaPug hope the delivery went well!

@Tropicana1 glad your cat is ok. Poor thing.

@thumper59 Freddie is just so cute and how do you look so bloody amazing?!

Lemonysherbet · 23/11/2019 22:01

Yes please @MrsH497 that's really kind thank you. Please excuse my poor editing skills!

I thought screening would make me relax but as i don't fully understand it I feel like it's just making me worry

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 8!
MrsH497 · 23/11/2019 22:04

@Lemonysherbet no worries lovely! I was 12+2 when I had my scan so almost the same as you! I'll compare them in the morning and have a proper look but they look pretty similar to mine at a glance 😘

Lemonysherbet · 23/11/2019 22:23

Thank you @MrsH497 :) it's nice the letter says low risk, but the numbers sound scary! Times like this being someone who ruminates over everything is a pain in the bum!!
Hope everyone is doing ok. We have a few ladies due really soon don't we?

PippaPug · 23/11/2019 23:28

So wayfair didn’t disappoint and for the third time has sent the wrong units - I am beyond furious and frustrated as once again we can’t get on with the twins nursery 🤬 I couldn’t open the boxes when they were here as they stacked them on top of each other and just left without saying anything!

I will reply to everyone else tomorrow but I’m SO angry right now!

MrsEG · 24/11/2019 05:15

@Tropicana1 It’s hard isn’t it to decide between ‘am I being ridiculous just give it a few hours and I’m sure they’ll move’ but then also that feeling in the pit of your stomach, knowing you’d never forgive yourself if something was up! The hospital were amazing though and told us we’d done the right thing, which made me feel better as twin 2 started kicking the sonographer 🙈
Hope all goes well at your 34 week appt, gosh where is that time going?! Are they doing any growth scans for you?

@thumper59 I hope and pray my PGP will go once babies are here; scare myself senseless sometimes reading horror stories about it - so pleased yours has gone! Ahh how lovely DH is so smitten with him!

@ELW85 Hope you had a lovely date night!

@PippaPug What an absolute nightmare with Wayfair! At this point could you just cancel and get a refund, and buy elsewhere? So sorry you’re having such a nightmare with them!

@BabySquid Glad the appt went well and you can just use diet and exercise now, that’s a great result :) oh those pin prick tests are horrid!! Can you at least swap fingers so it’s not always on the same one??

@Lemonysherbet A low risk result is always excellent news :) If you are ever bamboozled by test results though just give your midwife a call, they can talk it all through with you!

@MrsH497 I wouldn’t know the difference between either of those car seats to be honest! From my experience I’d just say if you’ll have to upgrade to a bigger seat after a year, make sure you get one with an Isofix base that you can re-use (we have the Cybex car seats but will upgrade with Cybex also, so won’t need to re-buy the Isofix base - if that makes sense!)

Sorry for the silly early post, been wide awake since 4 and just cannot get back to sleep. Sod’s law when Sunday is the only morning there are no alarms set in this house! Silly PGP waking me up. Think I’ve just done a bit too much walking the last few days. Also full of a cold which I don’t think is helping!
Going out with the girls today for our annual Christmas lunch (far too early for it, but you know what it’s like trying to find a date between 8 girls that everyone is free!!) so looking forward to that - got my Gaviscon packed and ready! Happy Sunday all x

Fivebyfive2 · 24/11/2019 09:10

@pippapug, sorry to hear your delivery was wrong again, I'd be looking to cancel the whole thing at this point, if possible?!

@Lemonysherbet, that's good news about your results coming back as low risk xxx

@MrsEG, sorry to hear you've been up for so long with pain xx Hope you enjoy your Christmas lunch with the girls though, should be a good day 😀

So I was at my mum and dad's last night and they were going over alllll of the options for Christmas, including 'normal Christmas as planned' / 'if we have the baby' / 'if I'm in hospital' etc... A tad overwhelming 😂

We also did our last NCT class, which was good. It covered safe sleeping, post natal depression, going over how different people in our lives might be feeling, etc. Also planned our post baby group meet up... Which will be 17 adults and 8 3-4 month od babies in total... Chaos!!

Doing some shopping today, then seeing the town Christmas lights being turned on 🎄

Happy Sunday everyone! Xx

MrsR16 · 24/11/2019 10:09

Morning you wonderful ladies! Thought I would drop in and have a quick catch up 😊

@MrsEG my outfit was very boring! 😂 jeans and an off the shoulder top - I'm loathed to buy any more clothes that may (hopefully) only last me another 8-12 weeks! I will find a picture somewhere (my mum took a load!) Enjoy your christmas meal today!

@purplefig oh goodness! Doctors really don't help - we're anxious enough anyway being first time mums without anything else adding to it!

@MrsH497 I'm glad your first day back was ok! I have the silver cross simplicity, and I'm absolutely in love with it! 😂

@thumper59 oh wow, look at gorgeous Freddie! And gorgeous mummy! Honestly, if I look half as good as you do 2 weeks after giving birth, I'll be a happy woman! He is seriously beautiful though 😍😍

@Fivebyfive2 I'm glad to hear that your NCT classes are going well!

@Tropicana1 pregnancy really does silly things to us doesn't it? 😂 I do adore Thomas though - I think he's hilarious!

@PippaPug I had my baby shower yesterday and I have my sister's baby shower today! My parents have also brought the cot up to us, so that's all exciting 😊 DH finished the papering in the nursery yesterday too, so we just need a tidy up in there, put the cot in (baby will be sleeping in a swing crib in with us for the first few weeks) and then I'll take pictures and share them with you! I am so sorry that Wayfair have messed up yet again! It's just ridiculous isn't it?

@BabySquid oh decorating's exciting!! I'm happy you seem to have everything under control with the GD side of things 😊

MrsH497 · 24/11/2019 10:44

@MrsR16 it's not heavy and bulky is it? Someone had said it was. DH loves everything matching (99% of our household appliances are Samsung!) so I'm inclined to go for the simplicity but know maxi cosi gets well rated. So confusing!

BostonFern · 24/11/2019 17:17

Hi ladies, sorry for the silence, but I've been quite busy.....having a baby!
Little one arrived safely after a whirlwind induction that ended in an assisted delivery in theatre, about 30 seconds away from a c-section. Baby had decided to turn so he was not only chin up but also had his head sideways. It was a very positive experience overall though, and the post natal care at the hospital was excellent too.
Hope everyone is ok, when I'm not feeling so sleep deprived I'll try to catch up.

@BostonFern just come on the see if I'd missed anything over the weekend and look at you!!! He's adorable 🥰 very many congratulations, does he have a name yet? I bet you're relieved to have dodged the C section!
I'll go catch up with the rest now! 💙
