MASSIVE BLOOD LOSS @ 13 Weeks Pregnant...PLEASE HELP

Have had massive blood loss 4 days ago at 13 weeks pregnant, had a scan and baby is alive and seems to be well.
The blood loss slowed down to something like a heavy period after the initial massive loss, and am now either spotting, losng a bit more like a period again, or it stops temporarily before resuming again.
Am absolutely petrified as lost a baby due to miscarriage at 6 weeks last August.
Can anybody tell me what might have caused this bleeding and what the outcome is likely to be.
Also is there anything i can do to prevent further damage?
Thanks

I don't know - I think that was another reason I was left - to see if nature would take it's course which is why they decided that I would need help.
I opted for the D & C as I didn't think I could cope with passing blood clots etc.
I would have though the epu will discuss the options available for you as I think each hspital have different guidlines of how to deal with things

My dd was two weeks late so I think I could probably wait......although, I say think. I am probably the most impatient person I know!

i understand what you mean, but dd being overdue and waiting to miscarry are totally differant things to deal with emotionally iyswim. do whatever feels right for you at the end of the day hun. i only went for a d&c to give myself closure as i just couldnt deal with having to wait.

red, i had similar exp scan at 11 weeks showed no heartbeat, previous scan at 9 weeks did show a heartbeat. they rescanned me a week later and still no heartbeat ,movement or further grow, they did an erpc that evening. i think sometimes things can happen natuarally if given a bit of time but not always. after the erpc got really bad infection and ended back in hospital they said because i had carried the baby dead 4 2 weeks. as well as grieving over the ms i also found it had to accept the baby had died i had managed to convince myself that they had made a mistake and had killed my baby. the next time i mc they could see i was unsur about having the erpc so they said that they can confirm the baby had died by doing blood tests as if baby ok the preg hormone rises so i had the tests. although it was still difficult coping at least i knew 4 certain i needed the erpc. So if u in any doubt ask 4 blood tests i wish i had the 1st time rather than spending yrs wondering. hope u ok
