MASSIVE BLOOD LOSS @ 13 Weeks Pregnant...PLEASE HELP

RoseQuartz · 17/08/2007 14:09

Have had massive blood loss 4 days ago at 13 weeks pregnant, had a scan and baby is alive and seems to be well.
The blood loss slowed down to something like a heavy period after the initial massive loss, and am now either spotting, losng a bit more like a period again, or it stops temporarily before resuming again.
Am absolutely petrified as lost a baby due to miscarriage at 6 weeks last August.
Can anybody tell me what might have caused this bleeding and what the outcome is likely to be.
Also is there anything i can do to prevent further damage?
Thanks

rosequartz, if this is your 6th baby the chances of low lying placenta is much higher. I had placenta praevia on ds3, bled lightly all the way through the first 14 weeks but they weren't sure what had caused that, the placenta has not formed at that stage. I had another bleed at 24 weeks, some light bleeding from then on and finally had HUGE bleed at 32 weeks, emergency CS and a 5 lb 3 oz baby. He is 2.8 now and a fabulous child. Very bossy but fabulous!

RoseQuartz · 26/08/2007 10:22

thanks for your advice ORANGEHEAD, yeah its easier said than done alright, but having seen babe on scan and reassured that all is well with him/her we're a bit less stressed.

So sorry you have suffered so much due to recurrent miscarriages, and huge congrats on the little' uns you now have. Enjoy them.

orangehead, you know when you had huge bleeds at 6 and 9 weeks with your 2 little ds's.........did the professionals give you a 'reason' as to why it was happening at all?
And also, the most important question of all, were they born at term? I'm just so worried as my last ds was born 12 weeks prematurely....followed by miscarriage at 6 weeks last year, and now this!
DH & I really live in fear of having another very prem baby like last time...it was so awful seeing him struggle to survive.

no reason given except when had bleed with 2nd at 32 weeks they said it was cervical erosion. DS1 was born on his due date, natural labour although resulted in emergency section. ds2 was a 1 week early. How is bleeding today? thinking of u

Hi there.I need some advice as I am really confused.Went for 12 wk scan Thursday to be told although baby measured a bit small for dates it had no heartbeat.I had no cramping or bleeding before and still nothing now.I've already had 1 mc but carried dd full term (plus2!!)Could they be wrong? (blush)

lissie · 26/08/2007 21:50

just seen the RQ, im so pleased. please try to take it easy now x

lissie · 26/08/2007 21:52

sorry redz, just read your post. what else did the doc say? have they asked you to go back?

redz1 · 26/08/2007 21:54

Going back wednesday for another scan and to discuss where to go from there.

whoops · 26/08/2007 21:55

redz1 {{hugs}}
I went for a scan at about 9 weeks because I was having pains across my section scars (my gp tell me it was unrelated) and they found there was an empty pregancy sac so they thought I could have got my dates wrong or I'd had a missed m/c
It turned out to be the latter, I had no bleeding or cramps either. I had already had 2 healthy pregnancies prior to this

redz1 · 26/08/2007 22:08

Do you think, as they are doing another scan, that two sonographers could be wrong?

whoops · 26/08/2007 22:10

I think they do a second scan to see if there has been any growth or changes from the first scan which is why they leave sometime in between.
I was so sure of my dates when I had my scan I knew that I had m/c but I still had to wait for the second scan before they would do anything.

fawkeoff · 26/08/2007 22:13

they re scan to make sure really and to cover their oown backs as well, they definately know that they havent made any mistakes really.i had to have scans from 5 weeks right up to 10 weeks to make sure that they where right!!!! they still wanted to carry on scanning but i flipped out as i just knew there was no hope and told them to just book me in for a d&c, it was just too much.

redz1 · 26/08/2007 22:18

And here's me complaining about 5 days. 5 Bloomin weeks!! I know it sounds a bit bad but I just wish something would happen then I know in my head.

fawkeoff · 26/08/2007 22:22

i know hun...its like living in limbo land, you just want to know one way or another.

whoops · 26/08/2007 22:23

redz I know what you mean as I said I was so sure of my dates I knew there was no hope
It gave me time to decide how I wanted to deal with things when returned for the second scan which was 2 weeks later & I managed to get them to change it to 10 days

redz1 · 26/08/2007 22:27

I think the thing with me is I just want nature to do its thang.having had a bad experience with 1st mc and the hospital I just wanna be at home.do you think thats a poss?

fawkeoff · 26/08/2007 22:30

its up to you, they cant make you do anything you dont want to.maybe tell someone on wedensday that you had a shit experience last time when blah blah dealt with you,the only thing is waiting for it to come nayurally...can u deal with the waiting??.
