I hate the first trimester

Thought I'd create a topic for everyone to have a moan about the first trimester! As much as I am grateful for being pregnant, I frickin hate all these shite symptoms! Loads of cramping and back ache, the nausea and tiredness, the constant knicker checking and fear of miscarriage ! I am hating this and just want the next few weeks to hurry the eff up so I can roll on to the 2nd trimester! Where are all these beautiful symptoms I grew up reading about???? Anyway, who else hates this period??

I’ve been getting cold chills every so often

When it happens no matter what I put on I just can’t stay warm.

fatisnotafeeling · 08/10/2019 17:25

@loveyourself87 I don't so much now, but in the first few weeks I almost felt flu like with the chills it was very strange.

I had a car accident today, someone hit me up the rear, it wasn't very fast but my lower back and shoulder have been hurting since so I'm going to have to take a trip to the doctor tomorrow. This is not what I needed on top of feeling so rubbish.

How is everyone else ?

lilrah · 09/10/2019 10:08

Oh no I hope everything is ok, dealing with a car accident/insurance is a pain at any time let alone when your pregnant.

I went a whole day without being sick yesterday. Still felt rough but better then usual. Got up this morning and vomited though so will see what the rest of the day brings.

Pineapplebaby · 09/10/2019 10:29

8+5 today and yep, I’m done with this first trimester also!
Was scared to moan about anything at first - paranoid that complaining would come across as ungrateful which is really not the case - but so far I’ve had; bloating, nausea, sickness, headaches, extreme fatigue, mood swings, dizziness, heart palpitations, giant painful boobs, heartburn and constant hunger (even when I feel sick!)
Still waiting for the lustrous hair and glowing skin! Lol Grin

loveyourself87 · 09/10/2019 11:51

@fatisnotafeeling sorry to hear about your accident, i'm sure it must have been scary, how are you feeling today?

OP posts:
loveyourself87 · 09/10/2019 11:53

@Pineapplebaby i'm waiting for the glowing skin and hair too haha.. MW called me yesterday to say my iron levels are low which explains the majority of the overwhelming tiredness and constant sleep, maybe at your booking app you can ask about iron and they will do a blood test x

Yes, I hate it too. I had an early scan which put me back over a week meaning that I've known about the pregnancy for almost a month, but I'm only 7 weeks along. I'm so jealous of my sister who didn't find out until she was 10 weeks. My symptoms aren't very bad, it's the the anxiety and worry of miscarriage that makes it feel forever.

loveyourself87 · 11/10/2019 11:54

Hi Ladies,

how is everyone feeling this week? My morning sickness (nausea) has turned into actual vomiting and dry heaving which i did not have for the first 9 weeks. I called the MW as i thought it tapers off towards 12 weeks but apparently, HCG peaks during weeks 8-11 so it is common to experience MS starting 8 weeks onwards.. ahh the joys.

OP posts:
lilrah · 11/10/2019 12:12

Aww sorry the vomiting has started now as well, it really is rubbish. I've been vomiting since week 6/7 but have read it peaks at week 9 and tails off by week 12. I'm week 10 now - had a couple of days this week with no sickness and was like 'yay' but it's back again this morning! Feeling pretty crappy now.

loveyourself87 · 11/10/2019 12:32

@lilrah ahh sorry you are not feeling good! Do you manage to make it into work ok? I find that I need a day off once a week just to sleep more. Unfortunately I do no get sick pay so need to make it up with more hours lol, I just cannot function some times at work and feel like I could nod off anywhere x

I've been signed off by my gp for a few weeks now I've been so bad. I'm taking cyclizine 3 times a day so I'm guessing things would be even worse if I wasn't. They did a urine test on Monday as well to check I wasn't dehydrated but I'm ok. Just exhausted with it all. I paid to have an early scan last week and found out I'm having twins so kinda explains why I've been so rough! HCG must be going wild!
I can't imagine having to push through and go to work like this, it's such a shame for you. Have you told anyone at work? I didn't want to tell anyone coz it was such early days but my line manager has been very understanding

loveyourself87 · 11/10/2019 12:59

Wow Twins! oh that is lovely, no wonder you are so exhausted, hopefully gets better for you soon. Ive told management at work as i needed to know what my rights were for ML and SMP and whether the benefits would be good for me, still deciding if i want to stay in this job so needed to let them know.

lilrah · 11/10/2019 13:03

Yes I'm sort of starting to get my head round twins but still pretty freaked out Confused lol - from no babies to two babies! That's good that you've told someone at work, it's so much effort trying to keep it a secret.

tacosplease · 11/10/2019 13:11

I’m 11 weeks now and am still feeling exhausted and nauseous (although no actual vomiting so far thank goodness). I’m just trying to get through it the best I can with lots of early nights. I find nibbling on bread helps take the edge off the sickness as well. I just can’t wait to feel better again!

Sorry to all those who are suffering far worse than I am Flowers

MissExcited · 23/02/2020 18:30

Oh gosh, I can’t explain to you all (that have joined in hating 1st Trimester) how much better I feel having found this thread.

I’m 8 weeks, first baby, extremely happy about having the baby and have an incredibly supportive partner. BUT, I’ve actually hated these past 4 weeks. I feel as though I’ve been drugged with a sleeping pill and so many smells, foods, things or even people making me feel sick. I feel like I’ve almost lost my sociable, fun loving part of my personality and now I’m just a grumpy, sleepy, bitch who can’t do ANYTHING.

People who I meet keep telling me “oh I had no nausea”... “I didn’t even know I was pregnant till 5 months” utter bs. I don’t know why women do this to each other, create a competitive nature in who can handle pregnancy the best. It has just made me feel like crying all the time and wishing and hoping for some honest, caring women.

I’m the first in my close group of girls to be pregnant, and I feel a bit excluded and isolated. Just not what I expected when I became pregnant.

Anyone else share my feelings of friends responses?

I wrote on this thread how much I hated the first trimester, I can confirm that was definitely correct, it was awful. Second trimester was rubbish, third trimester now, even worse. I hate being pregnant. I love my baby, I love my daughter, my body absolutely hates me being pregnant. I’m a miserable cow.
Luckily it’s ‘only’ 8 months of misery and then there is the joy of being a mother (which can also be a right pain as well) which is the best thing in the world

AMekhael · 21/12/2020 15:06

Im almost at 9 weeks and HATING IT... Its my first pregnancy and i can't wait for it to be over already. im so glad im not the only one - nothing online that really helps us cope with this...

RachShad · 21/12/2020 16:54

Don't know if anyone still active on this as I've seen lots of the posts are from 2019. I've just been looking for abit of advice as there's not much comforting info on the Internet. Im currently 10.5 weeks and absolutely hating pregnancy, its just not what I thought it would be at all and no one prepares you for it. The ongoing nausea all day everyday is giving me anxiety worrying about going places etc. I feel absolutely shattered constantly so find myself sleeping alot but then I just feel sluggish and like rubbish to be honest. I'm feeling really low in myself and the way I look etc.
Really need some hope that this is going to get better. I want to enjoy the pregnancy and am grateful for this experience but am really struggling to enjoy it. Anyone the same?

RachShad · 21/12/2020 17:34

I'm feeling the exact same!!

AMekhael · 21/12/2020 18:04

@RachShad don't be discouraged...i am in the same boat. I hate pregnancy so far and wasn't expecting it to be this hard. I'm sluggish, tired, lazy, nauseous, always hungry but always nauseas. Overall feeling of bloated and hungover. nothing online prepares you for this. oh and my nose? I have a dog's nose. I can smell everything and anything hightened to a 10th degree which makes me feel even more queezy. IM OVER IT...Just want to meet my baby already.

RachShad · 21/12/2020 18:09

Omg what your describing is exactly how I am feeling right now! Has it gotten better for you? I am 10 and a half weeks now. Need some hope haha

RachShad · 21/12/2020 18:12

Yes I'm feeling so lazy and sluggish too! I feel bad for doing nothing but I can't physically push myself to have some get up and go, I just can't be bothered but then when I do nothing I feel rubbish too so its a vicious circle. Yeah my smell is the same! And my taste buds have changed. Its not great. When are we guna experience all these great pregnancy bits that we've heard about whilst growing up haha!

July21Baby · 21/12/2020 18:24

Omg Ladies today has been awful. I’m 11+5 and I’ve been vomiting everyday since week 6. I’ve literally been stuck in bed all day today. Each day I feel like I’m getting worse. And you’re right, no one prepares you for how hard it really is.

I’m totally grateful for being pregnant but I just want a couple of days to feel like myself. I can’t see the second trimester being any easier 😭😭

RachShad · 21/12/2020 18:32

Aw no! I am sick most days too but your a week ahead of me! The nausea is unbareable too even if I'm not sick. Sometimes nausea is worse as you just get no break from it!
I was hoping second trimester would be alot better, its getting me really down. I want to be back to myself as well
