I hate the first trimester

Thought I'd create a topic for everyone to have a moan about the first trimester! As much as I am grateful for being pregnant, I frickin hate all these shite symptoms! Loads of cramping and back ache, the nausea and tiredness, the constant knicker checking and fear of miscarriage ! I am hating this and just want the next few weeks to hurry the eff up so I can roll on to the 2nd trimester! Where are all these beautiful symptoms I grew up reading about???? Anyway, who else hates this period??

Hi, I'm 10+3, I actually wish I had a few more symptoms, just sore boobs, that is it! I almost don't feel pregnant!

At my booking in appointment the midwife didn't even test again, it was a self referral, I feel that I could go to the scan and they'd tell me I've been lying all along!

loveyourself87 · 29/09/2019 10:26

@Lovethetimeyouhave before I got my bleed last week, I was the only one who knew I was pregnant. DP saw the test but that was it, it was t until I had the scan that he saw I was "really" pregnant lol! It seems weird that until your scan there isn't much interest in taking a urine test to prove or confirm anything! Heck, I have not seen my GP once since I found out, they are not interested and only want you to contact the midwife if you have any "issues", kind of takes away the fun of having your pregnancy confirmed etc but this is how pregnancy is dealt with now in most places in the UK. Hopefully your symptoms stay calm and you don't experience the dreaded nausea and cramps xx

My first one was awful, and second one seem equally awful, I keep on having a retching reflux, cant stand the thought of eating anything, have a pretty much all day sickness, contracted a stomach bug already and ended up in A&E for observation, things are just great :/

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 29/09/2019 10:57

33.5 weeks pregnant here. Have had all the first trimester symptoms the whole way through my pregnancy. It's been awful.
First trimester symptoms with third trimester size, not fun!

123456kent · 29/09/2019 12:20

Hate hate hate first trimester.
Grateful I’m pregnant etc and all that.
But HATE it. Feeling done in, physically and emotionally. I try and explain to my husband, imagine how you feel when you have a stomach bug, in those few minutes before you throw your guts up. That’s how I feel. All. The. Time. But the relief of vomit never comes :-(
Last time my 2nd trimester was a breeze so I’m counting down the minutes

loveyourself87 · 29/09/2019 12:50

@123456kent horrible isn't it? Cannot stand the symptoms anymore, so grateful but equally shit scared , the cramps and back ache are not easing up but midwife said it's probably stretching pains 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m 8 weeks gone with my first baby and totally fed up. Obviously happy to be pregnant but feel like the sickness and nausea is really spoiling it for me. I haven’t been to work for two weeks because I’m so nauseous. Being sick every morning and some days I’m sick or heaving 6/7 times a day. The antisickness tablets haven’t really helped. Really trying not to let it get to me but have had a few tears.

loveyourself87 · 03/10/2019 17:44

Ladies, how is everyone doing? Anyone getting used to their first trimester symptoms yet? I still can't get used to the cramps and TMI, my lady bits have started aching 😂😂😂.. what the heck is happening to me 🤗

OP posts:
zoemelb · 03/10/2019 17:51

@loveyourself87 I have the same, constant cramps (not painful but very uncomfortable with every position I'm in either walk, sit, and now even laying down). I feel so bloated, lower back pain, I think there's just a lot of trapped wind in my stomach, no vomit yet, mild nausea.
Please other pregnant ladies, will it get better after 12 weeks I hope??? I'm 8+5 and counting down the days.

loveyourself87 · 03/10/2019 17:56

@zoemelb apparently being grassy and bloated causes the cramps, mine are constant too but differ in intensity... sooo ladies, does it get better at 12 weeks? Fingers crossed, don't think I can handle panicking any longer x

OP posts:
lilrah · 03/10/2019 18:10

Yeah struggling with the trapped wind and toilet habits as well. I'm either straining to go or I have diarrhoea - sorry tmi. Most mornings I have to get up for the toilet and then jump off the toilet to be sick. It really is the pits.

loveyourself87 · 03/10/2019 18:14

@lilrah I know how you feel, it's so annoying! I've only started to get sick now, and find myself straining to pee, could be a uti too which is apparently very common at this stage. X

lilrah · 03/10/2019 18:44

Oh no, eek, not had an issue peeing yet - it's the other Wink
I really wanna feel excited but just feel miserable. Cannot wait for this to pass!!!

loveyourself87 · 03/10/2019 18:52

@lilrah I can't wait to be excited !Honestly, I'm so surprised by how many new mums feel the same x

Watching this thread with interest as we are discussing having #4.

@fatisnotafeeling have your symptoms been bad with every pregnancy or have you found that each pregnancy they gradually get worse?

fatisnotafeeling · 06/10/2019 12:12

@AdultFishcakes sorry for the delay in the response, I got logged out of MN and then had a mare getting back in.

My first pregnancy I had NO symptoms and sailed through it. My DD2 was awful and sickness right through although it did ease at the end, DS I was sick but not as bad as DD2 and this one is just beyond anything.
I feel so so poorly ALL the time, I have no energy at all and struggle to do anything, I want to cry at the drop of a hat. Awful heart palpitations and shortness of breath, terrible wind which I never get.

Oh I did I mention the daily clexane injections that are painful and leave bruises on my tummy.

Today I am feeling sorry for myself.

123456kent · 06/10/2019 13:22

I still feel very unwell at 11+2 but there’s a definate improvement in the past 10 days. I have times of the day when I feel ok, and times when I feel terrible. When I’m hungry and when I’ve eaten the worst - that’s a bit of a lose lose situation.
I had a delicious meal out last night and appreciated it all the more after 4-6 weeks of being a very miserable hermit.
By my 13 week scan last time I felt near on normal!

lilrah · 06/10/2019 14:42

I'm starting to find it hard sleeping at night now on top of everything else. I like to sleep during the day coz at least then I can't feel sick but then I have been waking up a lot in the night. Lay there for ages at night with my belly rumbling coz I can't eat a lot. It really is a miserable time.
I'm meant to be going to Rome at the beginning of November and I'm desperate for all this to be over, I really don't want to miss out Sad

tacosplease · 06/10/2019 14:49

I’m 10+2 now and still feeling nauseous and very tired. I really can’t wait until things start to improve!

Lakedeal · 06/10/2019 15:28

It's a relief to hear I'm not the only one - all my friends with babies claim to have sailed through the first trimester (🧐) but I feel exhausted and nauseous all the time. I can just about manage to get through the work week but then basically collapse at the weekends. Have a work away day abroad next Friday/Saturday and I'm really not sure how I'm going to cope. I'm 11+1 now and think the intensity of the nausea is beginning to ease up a little so hoping I might have the same experience as @123456kent

Alarae · 06/10/2019 15:42

I'm second trimester (20 weeks) and unfortunately, I am not a whole lot better than the first trimester!

Still feeling nauseated and throwing up. Admittedly the throwing up has died down, but now when the dry heaving happens it is just painful as my stomach feels rock hard.

The glow is a myth. I do not glow. I suffer.

flissity · 06/10/2019 15:57

Can I join?
Only 6 weeks today, but feeling 😐 absolutely shattered, not myself, constipated, nauseas (But not bad enough to be off work) have no energy to do the things I love, like exercising etc ... so therefore feel unfit and crap!! But sooo glad to be pregnant with #3.
Having a scan tomorrow as. I’ve had some bleeding a week ago. My hcg levels were ok tho went from 590-1530 roughly in 48hr. So quietly confident it’s all ok 🤞🏼

AdultFishcakes · 06/10/2019 18:23

Oh lord @fatisnotafeeling

Your experiences mirror mine 🥴

By the way, get this checked

Awful heart palpitations and shortness of breath

I have an underlying condition that went FUCKING HAYWIRE at wk 30 with DC3 abs hospitalising me at week 35.

Pregnancy flares underlying tachycardic conditions but if you’ve ever had a racing heart when NOT pregnant go to the GP soonest.

Sorry if I’m coming across as scary x

fatisnotafeeling · 06/10/2019 18:59

@AdultFishcakes thank you, I will go to the doctor and get checked because the palpitations and shortness of breath are awful.

I must admit I have been surprised by the shortness of breath because I was fit before falling pregnant and regularly exercised and ran a lot as well. It has been frustrating me as I can't walk up the stairs without having to catch my breath.

RolytheRhino · 06/10/2019 19:00

My sympathies. Yes, it is not nice at all. Currently reveling in not being pregnant.
