Hi all, thought it'd be nice for us first time mums to have our own thread! How're we all finding pregnancy? I didn't expect it to be this hard tbh! I'm 11+5 and have my 12 week scan on Thursday, both terrified and excited for it!!

First time mum here, 26 weeks tomorrow - a NYE baby boy!! When we were told our due date we were like Shock I hope he's not on time...

@Babycakes1989 wow you're almost at the finishing line! You'll have to let us know how you get on :) put your feet up!

Babycakes1989 · 23/09/2019 13:35

Thank you! Yeah I will keep you in the loop! I’m constantly torn between relaxing and keeping moving to speed things up 😂😂 today I’m up and about! Xx

Peachy95 · 23/09/2019 14:10

@MummyBear405 I feel you! My acne is the worst it's ever been, my hair hasn't gotten thicker, or shinier! And I feel I just look dull and tired.
Bring on the glow!!!

uor24 · 23/09/2019 17:44

@Peachy95 and @MummyBear405 my acne is really bad at the minute! Have you found anything that helps?! Cause I can't find anything!☹️

First time for me I'm only four weeks so not long at all! Fingers crossed I can reach the 12 week point x

HopefulHun · 23/09/2019 18:21

@Hey1256 I'm the same, very early and first time. Don't you think times going to go very slowly as we know so early... I'm already impatient Smile

Do you have many symptoms?

Hey1256 · 23/09/2019 18:25

@HopefulHun I know but I fee much more patient with it than TTC, TTC drive me nuts!!

I haven't really got any symptoms yet I feel tired but that's about it!

How about you?

I'm stressing now thinking about names, 12 week scans and all sorts!

HopefulHun · 23/09/2019 18:32

@Hey1256 oh that's a very good point! So stressful.

Yeah, I'm not feeling too much different either tbh, the biggest thing is my boobs are ridiculously sore!

Ahh, guess we'll always have something to stress about ey, I'm doing the same thing! I want the scan now, want to know everything is okay.

I saw a doctor today for a whole 2 mins, he gave me a referral form to fill out and post off... so just a waiting game now Smile

Hey1256 · 23/09/2019 18:52

I called the go today only to be told they had ran out of appointments so I have to wait for a callback tomorrow.

I'm already soooo excited. Even though planned, my hubby has been mixed
Emotions I think because it's happened quicker than we predicted!

I'm ecstatic though lol.

Soda123x · 23/09/2019 20:11

Me and my husband found out at 4 weeks. Our 1st scan was 8 weeks later at what they predicted 12 weeks from 1st day of last period and it was the longest wait ever. They redated us at that appt to 11 weeks so now the wait until the 20 week scan seems to be dragging xx

Great thread idea @uor24 - I'm a first time mum and currently 15+6. Hoping to find out sex on Wednesday - very excited! Bump has popped over last week so feels more real now Grin

hms91 · 23/09/2019 21:59

I'm a first time momma, currently 11 weeks + 3 days. I've got my 12 week scan on Friday and ve been counting down the days. It seems like time goes so slow in the 1st trimester. I have also started getting morning sickness in the last week, which has not been fun.

NewMumToB3 · 24/09/2019 13:05

Hi @uor24

First time mum here too! I am currently 32 weeks exactly with Baby #1 (we've not found out if we are expecting a little Boy or a little Girl).

I've been lucky so far and have had a fairly text book pregnancy, but I do remember a couple of tough weeks in the first trimester where I was so exhausted I wasn't sure how i'd survive 40 weeks of it. By 13 weeks I felt myself again and I've been really good to this point. Hopefully you'll start to feel a bit better soon!

Now that the finishing line is in sight, I've started to get a little uncomfortable but they whole pregnancy has flown by in all honesty.
Those first few weeks building up to the 12 week scan are the longest in my opinion (apparently only topped by the last few weeks - but I can't speak for that part yet. Will let you know in a few weeks!)

Good luck for your pregnancies everyone Smile x

HopefulHun · 24/09/2019 13:17

@uor24 I'm feeling like these few weeks leading up to the 12 week scan are really long! I just want to know everything is going how it should be.

All very exciting though! Smile

I've not even seen a midwife or anything yet. So it doesn't feel real!

fancytiles · 24/09/2019 13:51

Agree on the weeks leading up to 12 weeks scan. Also find it so strange how you can't actually see anyone until you are 10 weeks or something? We paid for an early scan at 7 weeks so we knew he was in there but it felt strange that we couldn't see anyone until further on!

HopefulHun · 24/09/2019 15:11

@fancytiles I totally agree. Mad, especially if you find out early and you just wait for what feels like ages to make sure all okay.

If you don't mind me asking, was the private scan expensive? Because I'm not sure I can wait till 12 weeks..

fancytiles · 24/09/2019 15:24

@HopefulHun it's was £120 so not cheap but not insanely expensive, and I was like you I just wanted to see! I'm based in London though and things tend to be a bit more here. I had it done at the birth company, they will do an internal scan from 7-11 weeks where they find the little blob and their heartbeat :)

Bookworm83 · 24/09/2019 15:42

Hey everyone, I'm a first timer too, currently 13+1. I had my first scan last week and all seemed ok, but we decided to do the Harmony test as well just to be safe, currently waiting nervously for the results! As a bonus we will find out the sex of the baby soon as well.

How is everyone feeling? My sickness has become much more manageable, but the heartburn has kicked in! And I have definitely started showing; nothing that can't be hidden under a baggy jumper, but there's definitely a small bump there.

Despite all this I still don't REALLY feel pregnant. It's hard to explain; I've seen the baby and I know it's there, but is it really MINE?? Is this really happening? Lol.

Hey1256 · 24/09/2019 18:15

@Bookworm83 congrats! What's the harmony test?

Bookworm83 · 24/09/2019 19:46

@Hey1256 it's a DNA test for Down Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities, it's expensive but much more accurate than the NHS test (apparently with the NHS test, up to 15% cases of Down Syndrome are undetected). Even the hospital technician at my 12 week scan confirmed this.
It's completely safe and noninvasive (just a blood sample from your arm).

I had it done in a private clinic last week and am expecting the results any day now. They give you the option to find out the baby's gender from the blood sample too, which I think is awesome!
I wasn't originally planning on having it done but freaked myself out reading the stories of people who got "low risk" from the NHS but still ended up having babies with DS 🙁

Hey1256 · 24/09/2019 20:03

@Bookworm83 I'll definately be booking in too thank you, I've not heard of it before thank you 😊

fancytiles · 24/09/2019 20:38

Harmony is great, we had it done at 9 weeks to find out we are having a little boy :) and that he didn't have any of the syndromes

Hey1256 · 24/09/2019 20:46

IVe been researching and looks like panorama is mainly London based. So I think I'll be going with Lucina (offered through nhs)

Bookworm83 · 25/09/2019 18:28

Hi again everyone, I just got my Harmony results back and found out I'm having a healthy baby boy!!! 🥰
