I just went to the toilet, wiped myself and there was bright red blood on the loo paper Sad I had an eight week scan yesterday and everything was positive!! My period wouldn’t be due for another five days ordinarily. Absolutely panicking and no idea what to do - can anyone help?

Oh okay. Can you just turn up first thing? X

I lost part of the placenta at 12 weeks. Dr on call thought I was miscarrying (as did I) but I hadn't and everything was fine

That's my plan - I'm just hoping that if I arrive half an hour before opening time I will definitely get seen that day. The EPU is only open for three hours so I'm not sure how many people they're able to fit in each day.

Thanks for the reassuring stories - I'm really hoping I will also have a positive outcome soon. I think it's the waiting that's the hardest thing. Stating the obvious, but it's so hard to concentrate on work when you're constantly worrying about something else.

Really appreciate everyone's support - it's the only thing keeping me sane!

Hopefully you get seen! Definitely a good idea to go before it opens. Fingers and toes crossed for you 🤞🏼 xx

Quick update - I went to King's EPU this morning, had an internal scan and the doctor said the baby's measurements and heartbeat are absolutely fine! She couldn't see anything to indicate what caused the bleeding, but said it's fairly common in early pregnancy. She advised that I wouldn't need to come in again unless I start bleeding heavily between now and my 12-week scan.

I'm so relieved!!

@tacosplease I'm going through similar to you now. I'm 7 weeks pregnant on Thursday and been for a wee this evening wiped and there was pinky blood on the tissue :( really worried 😢

BusyDoingNothingx · 25/09/2019 07:21

What a lovely update. Glad everything is okay OP X

Grandmi · 25/09/2019 07:24

Great news .X

tacosplease · 25/09/2019 07:40

@sredwards sorry to hear that. I know how scary it is, but the likelihood is that it’s absolutely nothing to worry about! It sounds like the bleeding is quite light if it’s only noticeable when you wipe, which is a good thing. Even then, I’ve read quite a few posts on MN from ladies who had heavy bleeding and the baby was absolutely fine.

Can you ask your GP to refer you to an EPU for an early scan - or head down to a walk-in one if that’s quicker - to put your mind at rest? If you’re in London I’d highly recommend King’s for walk-ins. Fingers crossed for you x

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 25/09/2019 09:37

It can be quite common to bleed around the time of what would be your period. Try not to panic. you had a scan yesterday and all was ok,they said only come back if bleeding was heavy, that's not heavy sweetheart.

Breathe and have a cuppa x

sredwards · 25/09/2019 09:39

@MrsPellegrinoPetrichor it's not OP that's bleeding it's myself I commented on the post as I'm 7 weeks and started with this. Have a scan booked for today xxx

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 25/09/2019 09:41
