How are you ladies coping with the trapped wind? I am SO uncomfortable, I honestly feel like if I were able to let a good fart out I'd actually float up off the ground like a f**king hovercraft... I'm drinking peppermint tea by the gallon and it's making no difference at all, the pressure is unbearable at times!

Chista · 09/09/2019 15:02

Dont drink too much peppermint tea, should be in moderation. Too much is known to cause contractions apparently. I am lucky to have no wind issues but the Pica is annihilating me

cattaxi · 09/09/2019 15:53

I saw my midwife today. She got me confused with another lady and told me to lie down & undress my bottom half as she thought I was there for a sweep! I’m only 34 weeks, so definitely too early for that!!
My bp is quite low, which may explain my tiredness. Bump is measuring right at the top of the chart.

Sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed @Maryrobinson81. Definitely finish work a bit earlier if you can. Apple & chilli jam sounds awesome!

@HJWT2 hope you are feeling better today. My ds is full of attitude at the moment too. I’m thinking it’s the full time school start & hoping it will settle soon. He’s got an answer for everything !

Good luck for Friday @Chista. I’m sure you will get everything sorted in time. As the others said, something to wear, something to eat & something to sleep in is all they need. I’m a geriatric mother too at 39! Such a charming term 🙄

@Frizzy1986 my dh has spent a lot of the past few months in the spare room. He’s a very light sleeper & my constant getting up to wee disturbs him more than me. I don’t mind as he does ds duty when he does it, and since the cheeky monkey still wakes up most nights, at least it’s one less wake up for me!

Hi @Cantthinkofanameeee! I also had hg at the beginning. Totally shit. Mine seems to be creeping back now too and I’m back on medication. I’m so over being sick.
Sorry you are feeling worried. pregnancy is such a worrying time. For what it’s worth, the growth scan I had with my ds was completely off. It’s made me very cynical about them.
It does sound like they are monitoring you pretty closely and that’s a good thing. Try not to worry 💐

Hope your consultant appointment went well @SRK16?

cattaxi · 09/09/2019 15:57

@AngeloMysterioso I’m full of trapped wind too! Lying on my side with a cushion under the bump helps a bit.

@Chista what is the pica making you want to eat? I’m all about chomping I’m bath sponges! And I’ve had to stop myself eating sand on many beach trips this summer 😂

Frizzy1986 · 09/09/2019 16:16

Fortunately no trapped wind here @AngeloMysterioso my issue is acid reflux right now which I had none of last time. Plus some bouts of very loose stools. I'm half hoping it's the "clear out" before it all kicks off but I doubt it.

Chista · 09/09/2019 16:26

Cattaxi for me its brickwork mortar, I have attacked it with a chisel this week. Cant cope

AngeIoMysterioso · 09/09/2019 16:54

@Frizzy1986 I half wish I had loose stools... I'm barely pooping once a week at the moment, and that's with taking 15ml of lactulose twice a day!
I'm seeing my MW tomorrow so going to ask if there's anything I can take for it. It really is quite painful Sad

YorkshireIndie · 09/09/2019 17:58

Anyone else just feel so tired? I have 9 days until I finish work and in a serious fire me I dare you mood. Finally got a tentative completion date and just waiting for the exchange date.

Not had much trapped wind but think I have the start of piles 🙄🙄🙄

Cantthinkofanameeee · 09/09/2019 18:06

Thankyou @cattaxi a lot of people are saying that.Im just wanting this scan asap...My sickness has kicked back in aswell...how strange. No vomiting but very close at times. And my appetite has gone off again...Hope yours eases...it really is the worst.X

Frizzy1986 · 09/09/2019 18:20

@YorkshireIndie yes, very tired. Thankfully I'm done with work now and have booked cleaners to come on Monday. I've tried to do little bits today as I'm clearly in the nesting phase, but hoping that will mean when they come they'll be able to get it spotless as it won't be such a big job. Apparently they clean the inside of the windows which hasn't been done in years 😳

@AngeloMysterioso ooo that's not fun. Thankfully I tend to be the opposite in pregnancy with everything going that bit looser. Although it does mean I have to keep an eye on those pelvic floor muscles especially after a 3rd degree tear last time and this baby's love of kicking me in the anus which seems to lead to possible leakage 😷

userabcname · 09/09/2019 18:26

@Frizzy1986 I'm similar to you - acid reflux and loose bowel movements often multiple times a day! Feeling in a really crappy mood, can't wait to finish work on Friday and mat leave to start!

newbabyyy2019 · 09/09/2019 18:54

@Frizzy1986 acid reflux here too! I got prescribed omeprazole which really helps!!

Sw2102 · 09/09/2019 18:56

Nice (Wrong choice of word maybe!?) to see I am not alone with the pica. I am also wanting to bite down on bath sponges, but my main thing I want to taste/eat is the blue antibacterial handwash. So of course I combine the two. So weird! Have your midwives said anything about it? I was going to mention it at last appointment but then it was with a random midwife and it all went so fast I didnt get to it.

Frizzy1986 · 09/09/2019 19:44

@sw2102 I'm so glad I don't suffer from that, dh thinks I'm random enough as it is.

@katnissK not much longer to go at work and then hopefully you can rest a little. It does get crappy towards the end. I'm still hoping that I go earlier than 40 weeks so I don't suffer. Last time was quite sudden and unexpected so I never got to the "get it out of me" stage and I hope I don't this time either.

@newbabyyy2019 I've been making do with just calcium carbonate things as it seems to lessen it enough that I can survive it. I can't be arsed at this stage to get anything. I was going to have gaviscon but it's all mint or aniseed, I hate aniseed and also hate the sensation of drinking toothpaste so both are a no go.
Thankfully it hits in the late evening at a regular time so if I can keep it at bay until I fall asleep then it's OK, and not for much longer i hope.

Cleaners are now booked for Monday, but I did ask about their cancellation policy as if I go into labour I may need to postpone as I can't imagine leaving a key is going to be top of my list when it kicks off.

Sw2102 · 09/09/2019 20:01

@Frizzy1986 my DH is very unimpressed with me and can't understand how I can't just not do it Blush I am jealous of your deep clean.. I look around my house and just see lots of jobs that I'm just too tired to be bothered to do!

Frizzy1986 · 09/09/2019 20:31

@sw2102 it'll probably feel like a waste of money getting cleaners in as I bet by the time they come I'll have done lots already. I'm already planning to hand wash the kitchen floor tomorrow like an idiot, but I'm just thinking that they should make it immaculate as they do it for a job so will do a better job that me and it will be really thorough.
Just hope I don't go into labour before hand as it would be nice for it to be done before baby arrives!

cattaxi · 09/09/2019 21:06

More of us in the pica club then @Chista & @Sw2102!! I used to eat the crumbling plaster off the wall in one of the rooms at work last pregnancy. I’d sneak in a teaspoon & scoop it out. They’ve had it re plastered now, otherwise I’m sure I’d be at it again.
I’ve ran out of my favourite sponges from Asda tonight. The Tesco one I have is just not the same. So weird!
My midwife tested me for anaemia when I told her. And I did need iron. I’ve read a few places that they can be linked. It got better for me when I started on the iron. But it’s getting worse again now I’m not on it. Having another blood test in a few days.

@Cantthinkofanameeee my ds said to me the other day that the thing he is most looking forward to about the baby arriving is that I won’t be sick any more. I’m nowhere near as bad as the first 18 weeks, but I am being sick every day again. I seriously can’t wait not to be pregnant any more!

Chista · 09/09/2019 21:24

Yes I had a low iron count too but even with the ferrous sulphate, I still want the mortar, my DH thinks I have lost the plot. So glad people know what Pica is, when I mentioned it to the dietitian she looked at me as if I was crazy. Peppermint tea before bed really helped my nightime acid, in fact when I started drinking it, my acid stopped and I got decent sleep apart from the constant need to pee.

Sw2102 · 09/09/2019 21:32

@cattaxi Mine is a tesco one and it tasted weird too. I soaked it in soap to get rid of the weird taste. Honestly can't believe I am having this conversation Grin Also got tested for anaemia and got given pills but hasn't made much difference. Went off the idea of it for a few days when I had a cold but its back now.

@Frizzy1986 I dont think it will be a waste if you have a clean house at the end of it. Will be so nice! Do you think you will have baby soon then? How far along are you?

At 35+1 today and feel so close yet so far, have done for the last few weeks. Trying to enjoy what may be my last pregnancy and enjoy the time with my DD vs also wanting to have the baby here already. Starting to worry about actually having the baby now too. Ahh!

AngeIoMysterioso · 09/09/2019 22:18

I haven’t had any pica/craving issues... probably just as well, knowing my luck it’d be something else I’m not allowed thanks to the GD!

Frizzy1986 · 09/09/2019 22:22

@sw2102 I'm 37 weeks in 1hr and 40 minutes!

Dd came at 37+4 (but I started getting signs at 37 weeks exactly, although I didn't know it at the time) so I feel I've mentally prepared to go early and think I might, just because of last time, yet that probably means I'll go way over and get induced.
I'm trying not to worry about the birth. I did it last time so I guess I'm capable of it, and at least this time I understand what a magical thing you end up with. I'm more worried about how I'm going to love another child as much as I love dd, but I guess your ability to love just grows so there's more to go around.

AngeIoMysterioso · 09/09/2019 23:26

I don't have proper acid reflux, but I do get a build up of acid right at the top of my chest/bottom of my throat every night when I lie down. Can't seem to do anything about it!

Frizzy1986 · 10/09/2019 05:20

Urgh, Im already awake and have been since 4:30. It's been a better night on the hip front as I haven't woken as much, but now I'm awake they really ache. Do you think the pain goes instantly once you've given birth?
Made it to 4:30 before I had a wee as well.
It's going to be a long day today so I might need a nap later. Got cottage pie for tea and am making 1 to eat and 2 for the freezer. Will mean a lot of washing up!

AngeIoMysterioso · 10/09/2019 08:12

On my way to 3 back to back appointments this morning- Endocrinologist, then growth scan, then MW clinic. Looking forward to seeing our little dude again but as always a bit anxious too!

Frizzy1986 · 10/09/2019 08:18

@AngeloMysterioso hope they all go well, I'm getting ready for the school run and then I think I'll get the cottage pies made before lunch so I can nap later in front of the TV (although I'll probably feel lazy and end up cleaning instead)

Officially 37 weeks so I've made it to full term which makes me happy at least.
