Welcome @Hannah9176!

I keep panicking that i’ve Not bought anything @secretlyhermione. I really feel like I should be shopping & prepping - but I can’t really think of anything we need. Shame, because I love shopping!

So sorry about your flat @AngeloMysterioso. It really shouldn’t be allowed to happen at this late stage.

Fresh prawns sounds delicious @Frizzy1986. I’m very envious. We always do the choice of whoever’s birthday it is for dinner. Ds has chosen to celebrate his 4 years with chicken nuggets & chips 😂 we are in for a treat!

userabcname · 27/08/2019 17:30

Bless you @Frizzy1986 - I went to the supermarket this morning and then had to flake out the rest of the day as I was exhausted! Luckily DS was happy playing with his train set this afternoon but I did feel like a terrible mother. Back to work on Monday - dreading it but only 2 weeks so just have to grit my teeth! Hope you feel better for a more relaxed day!

Ok ladies who are having or have had c-sections - how many clothes are you taking?? I have nursing pjs and a nursing nightie (not sure what will be comfier afterwards) and leggings plus 2 nursing smock tops - will that be enough?? How long am I likely to be in for? I'm hoping not too long! I was in for a week with DS and it was hell. Also taking a selection of newborn and 0-3 month clothes for baby. As it's October, are people taking long sleeved vests for under sleepsuits or does it not matter as hospitals are always boiling anyway?! DS was a summer baby so it was a bit different!

cattaxi · 27/08/2019 18:09

@KatnissK apparently in my area they now discharge you 24 hours after a section if all is well. I was in for 48 after emcs with ds 4 years ago.
I think I’m going to take 1 nightie - handy with the catheter. And 2 sets of pj’s / loungewear type outfits. I’ll wear one to go home in. Have started to look for some over bump ones. The lovely nursing pj’s I got last time were under bump & sit right on my scar, so I couldn’t use them for a while. All the big knickers too! I’m liking a pack I got from next very much.
I think I’ll just take some normal vests for hospital as it’s always so hot there. But I’ve got a pack of long sleeve ready for if it’s cold when we got home. Our house is a bit draughty.
Did you have a section last time? The one thing I always tell section mums is to pack more clothes for the baby. Ds was very mucousy and was sick a lot in the first 24 hours with it. Apparently it’s common for cs babies as the mucus doesn’t get squeezed out during delivery. Dh had to do an emergency Tesco dash as so many babygro’s got covered in it! I’m taking a spare bag for the car this time.

Birthday excitement is wearing off here now & we are snuggling with a movie. Perfect!

userabcname · 27/08/2019 18:17

Thanks @cattaxi - I didn't have a section last time (had other complications that kept us in) so that's really helpful. I've got some big cotton knickers on order from M and S and I hadn't realised that about the babies being mucousy - I'll add some more baby clothes and muslins. Thank you again! Hope I'm only in for 1 night - that would be a dream.

HJWT · 27/08/2019 18:17

@KatnissK Iv never had a section, iv packed 1 nighty to give birth (button down) and 1 for afterwards, last time I ended up with a catheter in for quite a few hours 🤔 don't actually know why! I think it was because I lost so much blood I wasn't allowed out of bed, then once I was up and moving they took it out after a few hours. I even remember having it in when I got in the bath 🥴 lovely what we go through isn't it! Haha xx

userabcname · 27/08/2019 18:22

@HJWT it is! I had a catheter for a bit as ended up in theatre last time but I was in the hospital smock gown thing at that point and they took it out before I got changed. My main error last time was not having nursing tops - I had nursing pjs but all my other clothes weren't bf-friendly so I basically had to live in my pjs for a week while I was there. Felt a right slob! Also I ran out of maternity pads so I've packed loads this time!

Chista · 27/08/2019 18:25

Hannah9176 you are due 3 days before me but I do think they will induce me at week 38, they have already said they will not let me get to week 40. I have everything I need for mine, babies and DH hospital bag but haven't packed it yet. I only started buying in the last 2 weeks.

SRK16 · 27/08/2019 18:51

@KatnissK I’m having a planned c section. Have just panic bought some stuff- over the bump leggings, 2-3 nursing tops, nursing bra, nursing nightie and a nursing dress to wear home. Plus BIG pants, and maternity pads. Will also take some slip on shoes/flip flops so I don’t have to bend for shoes. I’ve been told I’ll be in for two nights but imagine it’s pretty individual, my friend has one last week and was home the next day.

userabcname · 27/08/2019 18:56

@SRK16 thanks, sounds like I'm on the right track although you've reminded me to dig out my flip flops. Reassuring to hear people aren't kept in for ages!

HJWT · 27/08/2019 20:26

Anybody else losing their brains slowly?

Today iv put my phone in the fridge! Just had a nice relaxing bath then had to walk round for 10 minutes looking for the baby monitor that I put in the towel cupboard 🤦🏻‍♀️ so no longer relaxed!

Someone help me

OP posts:
SunshineSophia · 27/08/2019 20:35

Oh dear @HJWT2 Sounds like baby brain!

@YorkshireIndie ditto re bump looking like something from Alien - I know it's meant to be cute but sometimes its terrifying (and frankly a bit weird Confused watching it move!)

@Positivity86 yes! I've read such good things about the medela it was just the price putting me off. God bless Amazon lol

@SC0508 oh man, tell me about it?! The rib pain was awful last week. I'm glad to say mine has settled down now - fingers crossed yours does too!

@AngeloMysterioso oh no! If it helps, I live with my in-laws full time so gave up my dreams of a nursery ages ago... I have a good relationship with them so I know they'll be great support. Hope yours are supportive too :)

Welcome all the newbies! Still suffering in the heat?? I had to sacrifice my fan for my 8 mo niece and I wanted to cry 😭

secretlyhermione · 28/08/2019 09:47

@SunshineSophia I def can't take the heat anymore! Where I live it is super humid and I'm getting really fed up. Am on countdown not for mat leave so I can just lie under the air conditioning watching tv!

HJWT · 28/08/2019 10:02

@secretlyhermione Oh wow! Air con 🤭 I need that, I cried last night I am so fed up of not sleeping! I was awake 12.30 pm - 3.30 AM! Not normal! X

umck2014 · 28/08/2019 12:54

@HJWT2 Awww hugs for you. You must be exhausted. Do you have any help with DC1 during the day ?

SC0508 · 28/08/2019 13:29

Rib pain seems to not be budging at all, feel I've felt less movement today but not sure if it's just me being paranoid. Was going to call midwife but she wasn't very helpful yesterday and told me to just take paracetamol 😟 has anyone else felt less movement when baby has been turning and digging into ribs?

shouldntbeonhereagain · 28/08/2019 13:49

Also fed up with the heat here. 33 weeks now and feel like the last week I have become really pregnant! So grouchy and heavy. Older children go back to school/playgroup on Tuesday and am so ready for a few hours peace ! Feels like sinking since I saw a midwife (28weeks) still a week and half until next appointment! Have t bought anything at all and now stressing slightly! Anyone else as disorganised as us?!

shouldntbeonhereagain · 28/08/2019 13:49

Ages not sinking !

cattaxi · 28/08/2019 16:03

@HJWT2 my mind is all over the place too! Dh was looking at me like I was nuts yesterday - just as I put the milk on the shelf & the cereal in the fridge!
The not sleeping is shit! I’m not struggling so much because of the heat, but because my brain just goes in to overdrive whenever I wake up for a wee. Not fun!

@SC0508 - please speak to someone about any change in your usual movement pattern. They really won’t mind.

@shouldntbeonhereagain I’m so with you on looking forward to school going back! Peace and quiet here I come!

Saw my midwife today. Baby has turned to head down. I’m not surprised as he’s been doing some proper gymnastics this week.
My sickness has been ramping up again & I had protein & keytones in my wee. I don’t have any symptoms, so hopefully it’s not an infection.
Dh is off this week, so I just had the nicest afternoon nap! I wish I could have one every day.

Been such a long day so glad to be home and chill out. Spoke to local hospital about baby movements and got told to go in straight away, typical as soon as I got to hospital he started kicking and moving around 😃 was monitored for 45 mins and his heartbeat was strong and they said he's doing just fine. They have booked me in for a scan due to not having one since 20 weeks they want to double check all is ok due to reduced movements. Had bloods sent away and urine sample sent away too as there was blood traces in my urine 😟 been such a nervous night but glad I got the reassurance that he's doing just fine. Been given medication for a stomach ulcer as they think that is what is causing pain in my stomach 🙁 will be glad to curl into bed tonight.

HJWT · 28/08/2019 21:48

Glad you got sorted @SC0508 💙

Someone asked me today if I am having twins 🙄🤭

OP posts:
Em39ma · 28/08/2019 21:57

Evening all
Went to our first NCT last night, was a lovely group of people.
I walked in the room and there was all these tiny little bumps, one if I didn’t know she was pregnant, I wouldn’t of guessed.
Then there’s mine, it’s huge measure 44 from pelvic bone to top and my new waist measurement is 54inches!!!!
One of the group is expecting twins too, they all assumed I was a good few weeks ahead of them, but no one due a day before me and the rest only a couple of weeks after.
I’m beginning to think I may actually pop!!
Ok sorry rant over.

Frizzy1986 · 29/08/2019 04:57

@Em39ma I wouldn't worry too much about your size. My friend always carries really huge and has tiny babies (I mean 6lbers) It's all just guess work sometimes.
I enjoyed nct first time round. I met some nice people although we did get a shock 2nd week as one of the group rocked up with her baby who was born 5 weeks early.

@cattaxi oh an afternoon nap sounds glorious! And lovely that baby has turned. Mine has been somersaulting like crazy the past few days as well but not sure if that means anything. I have the midwife on Wednesday (36+1) so I guess I'll find out and then it'll be discussion of options if it's breech. It's been head down the last few times, but not quite in the right place and as it seems to turn a lot it hadn't settled in place.

@SC0508 I'm glad that all is OK. Must be a relief anyway and an extra scan will be nice at this stage. Baby will be so cramped in there. Hopefully the tests will come back to confirm what they already think and then at least you know what is going on.

I've slept quite well tonight considering. Although my bump feels crampy when I lie down, it's fine if I'm sat up so hoping it's OK in there for at least another 2 weeks.
Had moules marinieres tonight for tea which was lush and dd had a fab time at a theme park we drove to near Rouen. She did have an absolute screaming meltdown when we got home though after we told her to take her socks off as they were soaked (she didn't listen to me when I told her not to wait at the exit of the log flume as she'd get soaked, she did, big time, by a tidal wave and wasn't happy) I'm pretty sure the locals with have thought we were awful parents with the noise, but she calmed down in the end.
Last day tomorrow before the train home and although I've had a nice time I'm looking forward to resting a bit more. Dd has had a blast though and doesn't want to leave so that's nice. I haven't eaten enough pattiseries though so may have to cram a few in today.

@shouldntbeonhereagain I didn't feel organised a few weeks ago, but then I had to get packed and ready for our holiday and remembered I'd be almost 36 weeks once back so needed to get on it. Thankfully we have hand me down clothes and ones from dd so haven't bought new, although still don't feel there is enough in the drawer. Everything is cleaned and ready bow but I am worried about bf outfits.
I have 2 breast vests which turn any top into a breast feeding top which I found epic last time, but it's the bottoms I'm struggling on as I've worn more dresses this time and not sure the bottoms will fit. Hoping any leggings I have will do for a while until I can fit.

cattaxi · 29/08/2019 11:25

Glad baby is ok @SC0508. Hopefully the ulcer meds make you feel better quickly. Pregnancy is uncomfortable enough without that added pain.

Don’t worry about size @HJWT2 and @Em39ma. I was massive with ds (as I am with this one!) They predicted he’d be huge. But became out at 7.9 almost a week late. There is so much to how we carry, where the baby lies etc.

The nap was lovely @Frizzy1986. Not long until everyone is back at school & work finishes - then I can nap every day 🙂
Hopefully your baby will settle in the right place soon. This one feels all to one side today. Not comfy!
Enjoy the patisseries. Yum!

Hope everyone has a good day. I feel better today - so hopefully I was just tired and don’t have a urine infection. Am drowning myself in cranberry juice just in case.

YorkshireIndie · 29/08/2019 14:53

Baby has spent the day stretching under my ribs. What is it about that location that is so comfortable?! Just changed chairs at work and the pain in my back is so much better!

How is everyone's day going?
