@HJWT I am planning on breastfeeding and part of the NCT course we are doing includes a session on breastfeeding. I have promised myself I am not going to stress over it but have said to DH that I want his support with it

userabcname · 25/08/2019 10:48

@HJWT yes I'm planning to bf - I bf-ed my first for 18 months. Definitely going to get in some formula though just in case it doesn't go well. I did that with DS and even though bf was successful it was nice for DH to give him a bottle a couple of times in those newborn days so I could sleep (I never got the hang of expressing) although he did end up a total bottle refuser by 8 weeks so it was all on me after that. I have to say though I was one of the unlucky few for whom bf-ing did not help shift any baby weight - in fact I gained weight! Maybe next time will be different but I doubt it!

HJWT · 25/08/2019 11:16

@YorkshireIndie Yes you defo need support from OH even if its just a cup of decaf tea in the night whilst your up feeding 😁

@KatnissK I need to get some formula in to! Didn't really use it with DD because I expressed but always good to have in the middle of the night! she was a really lazy baby and would never wake up to feed so had to use a bottle a couple of times a day till she became more alert!

DD keeps getting my belly out and shouting BOOBS so dread to think what she will be shouting when my actual boobs are out 😂

Still not heard from the hospital about a scan 😡 but he is moving lots today so not worried! He is just like his dad LAZY! haha xx

I'm hoping to breastfeed, this is my first baby so have never done this before. Hopefully she latches okay and my milk comes in because I would really love to breastfeed.. I've brought bottles and stuff incase though x

SunshineSophia · 25/08/2019 12:16

@HJWT2 Hope all is well with baby. Sending lots of best wishes xxx

@YorkshireIndie those clothes are adorable!!

I'm melting in this heat. Had jus enough energy to make some toast but now I need to lie down by a fan

I know we're still a few weeks away but anyone else getting a bit fed up? Baby measuring big and for the last week I'm sure s/he has run out of space because I can feel every movement. Just want baby here now so I can get back to how I was :(

SunshineSophia · 25/08/2019 12:18

@HJWT2 I'm also planning to breastfeed - the medela breast pump you recommended me a while back is on offer again on amazon so going to finally but it :)

HJWT · 25/08/2019 12:59

@SunshineSophia Iv rang twice but still don't have a time ! I think its disgusting no one has even asked me about movement either when I have rang, no wonder horrible things happen 😡

Sorry to hear that @HJWT2 it's probably because it's bank holiday weekend - skeleton staff when hospitals probably need to be most staffed! Let us know if you hear anything xx

I'm sure I don't need to say this but have you tried ice water and laying on your left hand side? I've heard about the flashlight test as well but never tried it myself. Maybe something else to try?

HJWT · 25/08/2019 13:25

@SunshineSophia luckily he is moving lots today so I know he is fine and if he wasn't I would of gone back to be monitored again by now!

The midwife has been down and said no one is there but they haven't told them that it wasn't open today, said she would chase it up for me in the morning but I'm busy tomorrow! Also not going to go tomorrow and Thursday, just a waste of time xx

@hjwt what a palava! So glad to hear he's moving around tho - that's the best reassurance ❤❤

HJWT · 25/08/2019 16:51

Been for scan! They found the ultrasound person in the main hospital 🤔 everything is fine & baby is 5 LB 4 😱😱😱

@HJWT glad everything is ok!! Haha little chunk! I bet mine is as well, my first was a chunky monkey too.

SunshineSophia · 25/08/2019 17:37

Oh wow @HJWT2!! Little chunky ❤❤ glad everything is all well xxx

Frizzy1986 · 25/08/2019 17:54

@HJWT I'm intending on bf again. I bf dd until around 11 months as I didn't want to be doing it when I got back to work.
I haven't got bottles or a pump or formula. Dd refused bottles and I couldn't manage to get much out by expressing so it was easier not to bother with it all.
I didn't lose weight either. A midwife told me I wasn't eating enough when dd lost weight and got jaundice. Basically blamed me for it, so I ended up over eating to compensate as I was so panicked. What she should've done was got a feeding specialist to help me establish bf, but I know to do it myself this time if things aren't working.

@katnissk I can't be bothered with anything either. I'm trying to take it easy but am aware that what I don't do puts more onto dh and as we are away in France I hate feeling like a burden.
My hospital bag is all packed and in the car. Thought it was safest option being abroad for a week. I have realised that I don't have many bf clothes though! I think it's because last time I wore bf tops and trousers, but I think I'm too fat for the trousers I used to have!

I've struggled in the heat today. 29 here which is similar to the UK I think.
It was OK at the beach as there was a gorgeous breeze, but in the apartment its hot. We have a fan that is pointed directly at me, but it's hard getting to sleep.
I was in agony yesterday with my bump but today I think I've done better. The walking hurt and ill pay for it later, but I think I hit my limit and then stopped, unlike yesterday where I went too far.

YorkshireIndie · 25/08/2019 19:24

@HJWT really pleased that you had a scan and baby is okay.

@SunshineSophia Everything is a struggle. Can not sit for long in the evening and the only comfortable position is on my side. Watching my stomach sometimes makes me think of the scene from Alien but I bet everyone thinks that!

Currently making a cobbler for the first time. Hope it turns out better than the crumble I made (can make them in my sleep but this one tasted horrible)

Positivity86 · 25/08/2019 20:58

@HJWT glad to hear the scan went well and your bubs is all good 😊 what a great weight already! I'm also planning to breastfeed...but I want to try and express too so hubby can help. First baby though so idea how all of this will go!

@SunshineSophia I've also bought the meleda swing pump, I've heard it's good!

Em39ma · 25/08/2019 22:43

@HJWT glad scan went well, he’s got 1lb on mine and I think she’s big. I will breastfeeding too, haven’t bought any bottles etc, because I know the hospital near me will give them one, if you have it with you. Absolutely shattered, had both families here for a BBQ, feet now the size of boats. Did it now, because not sure how much time we will after she comes and Christmas and we would need to be inside and our lounge isn’t big enough for them all.

SRK16 · 26/08/2019 12:10

@HJWT2 glad scan was okay. Mine is about 5.5lbs now at 34 weeks based on growth scans! Seems huge when I think I have friends whose babies were born at that weight.

I keep getting what feels like period cramps in my lower back, has anyone else had these? Asked my midwife about it and she didn’t say anything really. Was wondering what it is, I assume not BH as they are meant to be painless? It’s been for the past 10-14 days coming and going.

How is everyone doing in the heat? My fingers are like sausages!

Newmumatlast · 26/08/2019 13:57

I am also planning to breastfeed if I can. First baby so no idea how it will be. I also want to express and try to introduce a bottle early as I only have 4 months maternity leave and then husband is taking over. Would be good if anyone has tips having done that before. So far I've just bought a couple of different brands of bottle that are supposed to be good if breastfeeding due to the teat but we will see as I'm aware all babies are different!

Newmumatlast · 26/08/2019 14:01

Also on weight my many was measuring 4lb 10 at my scan last week at 32wks + 6 but that's only on 44th percentile so I didnt think that was all that big. On the basis that they estimate half a lb a week I roughly predict 8lb 2 if I go full term. but that's also not that big I dont think.

newbabyyy2019 · 26/08/2019 14:28

Has anyone's babies still not turned yet? I'm 34 weeks today (I have 2 scans and monitorings a week due to my baby being IUGR) and she's been breech every time. I'm starting to get worried that she won't turn. I've been doing exercises that I've seen online like elevating my hips to try get her to turn but my scan today has shown that she's still breech 😩

Sw2102 · 26/08/2019 14:33

I haven't had a scan since 24 weeks but based on my measurements and the other things they input to make the growth curve like my weight and I think my first baby's weight? But think mine is also measuring about 5.5 pounds now and will be between 8 and 9 at full term. All my friends seem to have smaller babies at 6-7 pounds which makes me feel like I make huge babies which isn't really the case. Think if I go over due though this one could easily be more at the 9 pound mark!

SC0508 · 26/08/2019 15:20

I've not had a scan since 20weeks, last midwife appointment she told me baby was measuring fine but that was back at end of July and don't have her again till 10th of September as this is my second baby. Everyone at work told last week was telling me that I have gotten huge all of a sudden and they all have bets on that I will go early rather than late 😂 How's everyone doing today? It's very hot here today and I thought it would be a great idea to adventure out and walk to supermarket 😂 between 8am and now I have walked over 16,000 steps think I may regret this tonight when I finally stop but hopefully helps me sleep tonight 😂

HJWT · 26/08/2019 18:01

@SC0508 DH was late back so decided to cut the grass and sort the garden ready for autumn coming! the amount of spiders and frogs in the grass was grim 🤢

Now bathing DD for an early night as she hasn't slept well for a week! Then bath and bed for me 😂😁

Thanks for all your lovely messages lady's ! 💙
