Wanted to start a thread for all the October mums to be if not as no one to talk to in the real world 🤞🏻

I am due 19th with a little boy and already have a DD(3)

Cant believe its only 12 weeks until October 😬

@cattaxi aw I'm sure she will love having a little baby around, we had it the other way round I was 13 when my newborn niece came to live with us & I loved it 😊 x

Most of the HV don’t even have children around here. I am also very sarcastic, so when they ask questions like where does baby sleep, my answer varies from in the dogs cage, to the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers.
My DH has said I have to be on my best behaviour, but it’s fun.😂😂

Rememberallball · 16/08/2019 10:06

@Em39ma, I get the idea the HV might not like me when she gets to know me - she said her background was as a gynaecologist nurse prior to retraining. My background is children’s nursing and my last job in the field was as a junior sister in paeds A&E!! I’ve also been around kids for the last 35 years so have a good deal of experience of what does and what doesn’t necessarily work - and am happy to do things that are perhaps no longer accepted practice in the knowledge that they worked for some babies - and may well work for mine!! After all, once the door closes and she gets back in her car, I’m the one left to raise them!!

cattaxi · 16/08/2019 10:16

@HJWT2 she’s not a huge fan of babies! But I’m hoping she’ll melt once he’s here. She has coped very well with everything so far. I’m sure we will muddle through this next phase too.
Right - going to drag myself off the sofa, out of my pj’s and take ds to meet some friends and have lunch at soft play. Anyone got a crane to lift me up?!

Em39ma · 16/08/2019 10:41

@Rememberallball that’s the problem they have with me. 24 years as a nanny, but mum was a childminder from when I was 3. I’ve been basically doing this all my life.
Ok I’ve never been pregnant before, but babies and kids I know.

HJWT · 16/08/2019 11:26

@Em39ma the best bit is when DH leaves the room and they quickly whisper "Any domestic violence I need to worry about" like if it was happening you would have chance to tell them in the 5 seconds your OH is out the room 🙄

OP posts:
HJWT · 16/08/2019 11:29

@Rememberallball HV job is to weigh & measure your child and make sure they are on the right track with development as well answer any question you may have! They have become so entitled some of them with their question!

Makes me laugh when they say you should stand at the back of the garden if you smoke 😂 like it can come through the shut door and walls! Nobody smokes in our house but she always mentioned it!

Em39ma · 16/08/2019 12:51

They told me a number of occasions that my 16month old being out of nappies was abuse.
I laughed at them, no it’s not abuse they are dry and clean and have only wet themselves once. They wanted this, the child was youngest of 4 and wanted to be like there siblings.
Also I sit my babies on the potty at nappy change time and bath time to get them used to it, I do this once they can sit up unaided.
Just because most aren’t out of nannies until later, doesn’t make it abuse

HJWT · 16/08/2019 20:45

Anyone else struggling to breathe? After doing something really small 🤔

Had all the bad symptoms this time round compared to DD, she was a breeze even have horrendous stretch marks no matter how much cream I use 🤯

OP posts:
YorkshireIndie · 16/08/2019 21:02

Yes @HJWT! Are you struggling with just sitting? I have to sit up straight or lie on my side

Went and had a gander at the Aldi baby event today

Em39ma · 16/08/2019 21:32

I can only lie down now, sitting makes me get back ache and struggle to breathe.
May have to start using my inhalers, noticed that I’m waking up because I’m having trouble breathing and gasping, which I only normally do if I have a cold.

SunshineSophia · 16/08/2019 21:34

Yes! feeling really breathless now @HJWT back is aching lots now that I'm back to work. I'm considering taking my mat leave early - I've still got 5 weeks of work to go 😭 when is everyone going on mat leave? 37 and a half weeks here 🙋‍♀️

SRK16 · 16/08/2019 21:42

I’m really breathless. Feel the last stretch is going to be more uncomfortable than I thought. I finish work in 3 weeks at 36 weeks- thought it would be too early but I’m desperate to finish now!

cattaxi · 16/08/2019 21:46

Those struggling with breathlessness - have you had your iron levels checked? I was really bad & turned out anaemic. It improved lots when I started on supplements.

I’ve avoided stretch marks so far. Only had a few last time - and they didn’t show up until 40 weeks. Hopefully I’ll be lucky again! Not that they matter. I have so many faded ones since puberty.

I’m finishing work at 36 weeks @SunshineSophia. Taking two weeks annual leave & then starting Mat leave at 38 weeks. But I’m using lots of annual leave to work part time and have a week off between now & then.

I feel like i’ve been kicked in the fanny today. Another lovely symptom to add to the list. Didn’t have it last time. Anyone else experienced it?

gkeal3 · 16/08/2019 21:46

You're all so organised with hospital bags! I've not even bought anything I will need yet. I have baby clothing but need baby formula and all my pads and big pants etc! I'm hoping for a water birth so have a bikini top for labour but will grab a nightie too. I've been quite lucky and given birth in the night then home by 10am! In and out....fingers crossed it's that quick and easy this time around x

SunshineSophia · 16/08/2019 21:56

@cattaxi yep, been diagnosed with anaemia. Have been taking iron tablets now for two weeks and have noticed an increase in my energy levels but the breathlessness still comes and goes at least once a day. Loving pregnancy but kind of wanting my old body back lol and my ability to breath freely!

I tried to be clever lol and take my mat leave as late as possible - regretting it now as I don't have any annual leave left to tide me over until then ☹

YorkshireIndie · 16/08/2019 22:04

My mum said the same about iron levels and breathless. My midwife said my iron levels are fine but I am going to buy some iron water tomorrow.

Can I win the award for late maternity leave starting? I am taking it the latest I possibly can which is the day before my due date 😁 Finishing work in a months time and using up my annual leave. Could happily finish tomorrow though

cattaxi · 16/08/2019 22:12

@gkeal3 I’m not ready at all! I bought a little Nivea travel wash kit the other day. But still have loads of stuff to get.

@sunshinesophia hopefully the tablets will make more of a difference for you. I gave totally stopped doing anything taxing, so maybe that’s why I feel better 😂
I’m sure you will be pleased to have the extra time with baby when he/she gets here. But you can always change your dates if you need to go off sooner. I had so much annual leave to use that i’ve Managed to only work 3 days a week since July. I really wanted to carry it over until the end of my Mat leave, but they said no. I’m quite glad now as it’s been really nice to have extra time at home over the summer.

SunshineSophia · 16/08/2019 22:55

Ooh @cattaxi that sounds ideal! How did you wind up with so much annual leave you jammy dodger?!?! 😋😋

@YorkshireIndie wow, you are cutting fine! I would love to do the same as I've got a feeling I'm going to go the full 42 weeks... the mind is willing but the body... the body can't take much more 😟

Frizzy1986 · 16/08/2019 23:17

I am on countdown as only have 8 days actually at work as I've got my holiday on Thursday for just over a week and then I go back for a week before I finish at almost 37 weeks. I can't wait. I'm so done with it.
My back aches, my hips hurt, sitting is uncomfortable etc.
It definitely wasn't like this last time.

@YorkshireIndie wow that is tight, but not really if you go over. I had dd at 37+4 which I think means I've convinced myself that will happen this time, but I'll probably go way overdue. I'm not risking it and finishing at 37 in case.

@HJWT2 my dd is so excited. She's decided that her job will be singing songs to baby. She is 5 though which has been useful as she does understand that I can't always do everything with her. She is looking forward to me being back to normal I think.

Luckily I've not suffered from stretch marks yet and didn't get any last time either. My skin does feel super stretched though and if baby is pushing against the outside it kills. I'm trying to use oil and butter to help soothe it.

I'm planning on cleaning the pram and car seat this weekend which other than the hospital bag is one of the last major things I need to do.
Then it's time to start packing for holiday as well as getting the hospital bag ready.

I have a gp app on Monday to get my fit to travel note so my insurance is valid and then 33 week midwife on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to that as I worry I've gone huge and it would be nice if baby was still average in there.

SC0508 · 16/08/2019 23:18

Can I join? Smile Due 23rd October. I already have a ds age 5 who's very excited to have a brother on the way! Feel this pregnancy has gone very quick but over the last few days have just felt it's starting to drag on but got a feeling this could be down to lack of sleep anyone else feel this way? I've had really bad heartburn from around 14 weeks which hasn't made it any easier to sleep at night and feel it's just getting worse as weeks go by :( feeling slightly more energy since doctors have given me iron tablets due to low iron, luckily not took reaction to them like I did with ds 1. Would be nice to hear from other mums how they are doing as feel partner is fed up of hearing me chat about my pregnancy at this point Grin

AngeloMysterioso · 17/08/2019 04:04

lol.

Due October 2019 - 14 weeks to go 💙💖
Em39ma · 17/08/2019 06:18

I would love even a couple of hours of unbroken sleep.
I wake every 40/60 minutes because of the pain when I lie on side, then I need to wee. Just running out of steam now.

HJWT · 17/08/2019 07:42

@SC0508 Welcome? Yeah DH listen but doesn't speak at this point, he is defo sick of hearing it 🤣

Last night he said to me "you're getting fed up now aren't you, why do you do it to yourself"
I looked him dead in the eye and say how else do you expect us to have a baby you idiot 🤦🏻‍♀️🤔

@AngeloMysterioso Love that

@Em39ma I am really struggling ATM, DD's behaviour is really bad and she's started waking up in the night crying for me 😩 I used to get in her bed for a cuddle but I really cant do that anymore 🤣 poor DH has that job now ! xx
