@HJWT and @SunshineSophia I've packed two mini suitcases - one for me and one for baby so it's really easy to find things! I think our snacks will need their own bag too 😂

HJWT · 14/08/2019 07:33

@SunshineSophia last time I took a weekend sports bag and the changing bag, was easy to find things that way, but our changing bag this time is huge (with having DD also) so not sure what to do yet 😂 will have to do a test run ! xx

Hi hope you don’t mind me jumping into the thread so late! I’m 31+3, due 13th October with first baby (surprise on the gender!) I’ve been feeling well from about 16 weeks, but the last few days I’ve been so down. I’m in agony with my lower back, hips and bump. Feel like baby is ripping the front of my pelvis open! I also think I had a show yesterday. Ive got the midwife at 11am but I feel like I’m going to get in there and just burst into tears! Am I going crazy or are these symptoms normal? Paracetamol just isn’t cutting it! Any help or advice would be much appreciated xx

HJWT · 14/08/2019 07:37

@anyag90 Yes all normal unfortunately hun! You can self refer (or ask midwife to) for physio, when I had my scan she said "its your legal right to get access to everything you need" all I said was my pelvis felt like it was ripping in half 😂 don't worry about crying to the midwife they will be used to it! I cried last week 😩 xx

Make sure you have a pillow in between your legs at night that helps me a lot xx

Joining in a bit later also - I’m currently 32+3 so have about 8 weeks to go eek! Due on the 6th of Oct. This is #3 for us (already have DD 2.5yrs and DS 1.5yrs) so it’s all bit old hat and familiar for me lol saw the OB today for my 32wk appointment and all good and so very very glad that for the first time I don’t have gestational diabetes! October is definitely creeping up quickly though!!

SunshineSophia · 14/08/2019 08:23

@Positivity86 glad someone else takes snacking as seriously as I do! I'm thinking lucozade and cereal bars and crisps, choc and fizzy drinks Fizzy drinks are my weakness - been trying to wean myself off all pregnancy but no luck! I need the fizz!
@HJWT oh yes, the changing bag! That's a good idea to use for baby's things. My brother in law has said he'll buy it for us... not sure how to ask him to buy is asap so I can pack it for hospital

YorkshireIndie · 14/08/2019 18:42

How has everyone's day been? Had the day off work and have done very little. I have washed the snuzpod fabric though. Baby seems to like my ribs at the moment 🙄

Em39ma · 14/08/2019 19:25

I think it did too much yesterday. Totally wiped today. Have only managed to lie on the sofa and watch tv. Feeling rather queasy too, so taken full dose of cyclizine had managed to drop to once a day, I think I will need all 3

HJWT · 14/08/2019 20:57

@YorkshireIndie Day from hell for me, went to do a bit of cleaning for my lovely old nan, had to pick up her prescription and get her some shopping!! Nothing was easy shop was shut then next shop cash machine not working, to top it of bin men nearly crashed into me!! 🤯

Ended up deep cleaning the kitchen tonight when DD went to bed, must be nesting 😂

HJWT · 14/08/2019 20:59

You all need to get one of these! Didn't have this when DD was a baby, this will save me so much stress! 😍

Starting to get a bit excited now 👶🏻 x

@HJWT my caddy thing JUST arrived today the exact same! I wasn't sure what to do with the Velcro bits but I think I understand now I've seen your picture 🙂

Frizzy1986 · 14/08/2019 22:20

I've got a new change bag. It's a backpack which should be easier than the messenger bag we have from last time. Plus dh is more likely to help carry it.
I've done my final clothes wash which is now ready to sort and put away. That'll be all the stuff we have up to 3 months ready to go.
Dd is going to choose baby's first outfit this weekend so that'll be the one clothing item we will buy before it arrives.

Welcome any newbies. Unfortunately this part of pregnancy can be when it starts to suck again. I feel I missed the "glowing" phase this time around due to my hip and back pain.
I did buy a support belt though which I think is working a little.

Need to call the community midwives tomorrow to ask about a fit to travel note. I need one for my insurance to be valid on holiday. My 34 week midwife is on Wednesday and I start the journey that night so need to check who can/will sign it as I won't have time to go back to the gp if the midwife can't do it.

I've also made my shopping list which contains a load of hospital bag things. Just need to figure out what bag to pack it in and how we will fit it in the car to France 🇫🇷
I gave birth at the MLU last time but was transferred to hospital. I remember that you basically got a bedside table with a shelf under it like in a hotel and that's where everything had to fit so packing light is essential in my trust area with additional stuff in the car to swap around for longer stays.

I do think I'm going a little crazy though. Bumped my head tonight (like the smallest bump ever and not even painful) but I completely broke down in tears and couldn't stop.
I think I'm just really tired now. I need dh to do more without me having to ask and to understand how shattered I am. Unlikely to be honest. He implies he'll help but doesn't really scratch the surface of what is needed.
I also feel completely unprepared for holiday and again I don't expect dh will take charge of making sure we are all ready as he just doesn't understand all the things that need to be done. At this point I'd usually have piles of clothes ready to pack so I knew what needed washing and I'd have lists of what I was taking plus extras like Suncream, hats, shoes, maps etc and I have done nothing, not even a list.

SamStephens · 14/08/2019 23:14

I’m having a sickie today. Too tired to function. Time for some loner time with coffee and maybe get my nails done lol sleeping would be easier if someone would calm the fuck down in utero! My daughter was the same, hopefully it means she sleeps well with movement lol

HJWT · 15/08/2019 14:25

@SamStephens I know how you feel! DD has been up since 4.15 AM! Really going to struggle with a newborn and her sleep 🤔 xx

cattaxi · 15/08/2019 19:40

@HJWT2 last time I took a cabin size suitcase for me and a changing bag for ds.
And an extra bag for snacks!
That caddy looks really cool. We had a vegetable trolley from ikea last time for nappies & stuff. It was ace! Ds now has it with books on, so I might need to order another.

@SunshineSophia I took a small rucksack with a few things in to tide us over until baby arrived, then swapped it for the proper bags after. I think I had a few things to keep me occupied in labour, a nightie and a baby outfit in it.

Hope you are feeling better today @anyag90. I think they are pretty normal symptoms for this stage. Hopefully your midwife checked you over. I second the sleeping with a pillow between your legs advice. Helps a lot.

@Em39ma are you feeling better today? My sickness has ramped back up this week. I’m gutted. I’ve been off cyclezine from about 20 weeks. And if I take one now, it just wipes me out. Not good with work to do and other kids to look after. Hopefully it’s just a hormone surge and will settle back down. No idea how I’ll cope if it gets back to early days levels of sick 🤢

Hope you got everything sorted for your holiday @Frizzy1986?

I know the feeling @SamStephens - I’m so exhausted constantly. Hope your day off helped.

I think my baby has turned transverse again. He was lying like that for ages, but turned a few weeks ago. He’s been all over the place today. I’m so uncomfortable and it feels like I’m going to burst at the edges of my bump. Ouch!!

YorkshireIndie · 15/08/2019 20:35

Just managed to shave my legs. Feel that will be the last time that is happening for the next 8 weeks 🙄

Em39ma · 15/08/2019 21:08

@Cattaxi felt better today, tired but have to remember I am nearly 31 weeks pregnant.
My sickness seems to be different each day, never completely goes away.

Rememberallball · 15/08/2019 21:48

Evening all. Yesterday morning we packed the additional bag with things I’m expecting to need - and will be easier to two with us when we go in. I had a scan for Doppler blood flow studies and liquor volumes but they didn’t measure twins growth - consultant believes you get a better picture of growth if you leave 2 weeks between scans. So I have another growth scan next Wednesday morning and we will have everything ready in case the scan shows poor growth again.

I am 33 weeks today and so uncomfortable all the time because of bottoms tucked up under my rib age on one side. I have also been having occasional pains low down in my abdomen/bladder area as well as in my vagina - I can only describe them as being similar to ‘fanny daggers’ that some women get during their periods. They aren’t regular by any means but they’re definitely unpleasant when I do get them. I’ve had a small abscess on my buttock (came up overnight the other night and burst today so is now going down) which, while annoying me, wasn’t a worry as I’ve a long history of a skin condition called HS so am used to them appearing, bursting and going away.

Had home visit from health visitor this lunchtime and, while she seems nice enough, she says ‘oh yes, as a mother to be of twins, you’ll automatically need more support from us’ but then didn’t mention what sort of help that meant I might be offered - or what about if I don’t want/need their help!! I have my red books ready for when I do go into hospital so that’s 2 more things to go into my hospital bags!!

HJWT · 15/08/2019 22:03

@Rememberallball do you only see HV because your expecting twins? Never heard of that before, LOTS of people having twins this year my local hospital have a dedicated day were they only scan women pregnant with twins 😁 hope I get to see some when I go in to have baby!

Feel quite fed up tonight, just want my body back now! Want to be able to clean up and play with DD on the floor. Plus she's being a bit of a shit bag little devil ATM and chasing after her when she runs away is getting pretty difficult!!

Rememberallball · 15/08/2019 22:21

Hi @HJWT2, no, all pregnant women are offered a health visiting home visit after 28 weeks - reading around MN it seems this is becoming more and more common. In this area they are no longer employed by the NHS/CCG but are employed by the council and are classed as civil servants (apparently their service was due to be taken over by Virgin Care but the council stepped in and took them over - Virgin care have a reputation of decimating NHS services that they take over!!)

In this area, one hospital sees you in a separate clinic (held on a Thursday afternoon) if you are expecting twins and you are seen every 4 weeks for growth scans and Dr review, and then you are seen by your community midwife every 4 weeks but on the other even fortnight (if that makes sense). After my 20 week scan I was referred to the fetal medicine unit due to growth concerns, that clinic is held regularly on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday - I’m seen on a Wednesday morning. Up till last week it was fortnightly appointments but, because of the poor estimated weight gain, I’m now being seen every week for Doppler studies and will have growth scans fortnightly still.

The other hospital I could go to (which is an hour away from us) wasn’t going to have a Dr see me at all between 16 and 32 weeks, although I would still have the scans every 4 weeks and then my midwife would be expected to do all my antenatal care for that 16 weeks!! We changed hospitals because of the increased input we’d get from the hospital over the border in the next county!!

Em39ma · 16/08/2019 05:54

I have my HV check on Thursday next week. HV love me!!! Not 😂
As I have been a nanny for so many years. They like to try and tell me what I need to and have to do, which doesn’t work.

HJWT · 16/08/2019 08:38

@Rememberallball Oh wow so a huge difference then just from switching hospital! At least you are getting the care you need, hope babies have grown again for you ! xx

@Em39ma I cant stand HV! Were I live they are always old women and think they know best 🙄

OP posts:
cattaxi · 16/08/2019 08:53

It’s horrible, isn’t it @Em39ma. I’ve felt sick every day. The longest i’be been without actually puking was 3 days at some point around 20 weeks. It’s getting quite bad again now.

@Rememberallball getting to 33 weeks with twins is great. Well done you. I’m so uncomfortable with 1 baby- I can’t imagine what it must be like for you. I hope you have plenty of feet up opportunities.

@HJWT2 not being able to run after the other child is definitely a major down side to being this huge! They just know your weakness don’t they?!

I’m not working today. Although, sometimes I think work is easier than running after ds! The weather is horrible and we are snuggled in bed watching CBeebies. If only I could persuade him to do this all day!

HJWT · 16/08/2019 09:11

@cattaxi we are still in bed to! 🤣 she has become so ignorant she just doesn't listen anymore talk about threenager, hopefully she will calm down once shes back at nursery! Big mistake putting her in one attached to a school 🤯

How does everyone with 1 DC already think they will react to baby?? My DD keeps telling everyone its HER baby so don't think I will get a look in once he is home 😬 xx

OP posts:
cattaxi · 16/08/2019 09:27

Ha @HJWT2 the threenager stage is so real. Ds didn’t have any issues with terrible two’s & I thought we were so lucky. He’s more than made up for it at 3! Although, his 4th birthday is coming up soon & he is getting much better at listening. We’ve made it off the sofa & he’s happily playing dinosaurs now. I give it 5 minutes until he’s demanding I join in!

I’m not too worried about him with the new baby. He loves babies & can’t leave them alone. So I guess my main worry is him not giving the new one any peace! Thank god he starts full time school in September.
He’s asking lots of questions about the baby sleeping in our room, so there might be some jealousy there maybe.

This is a bit outing, but we also have a teenager that lives with us after she lost her mum. She’s a brilliant kid. But I’m more worried about the impact on her of the new arrival as it will disrupt our time together in the evenings and I’ll be generally a bit busier. Hopefully it won’t be too hard for her. Ds was a very chilled out newborn & I hope this one is the same. Going from 1-3 kids in under a year is going to be a bit of a shock to us!
