@HJWT think we are due the same time? I’m the 19th October. But as I’ve got too much water, they are talking about taking me for the last few weeks. They are also kind of saying she will probably be here 37 weeks, so I’m just trying to be prepared. My water have to break at the hospital, know where else. They think because there is so much water the cord my end up being washed out as the go. I’m hoping it is worse case scenario, but want to sorted for whatever could happen.

Positivity86 · 12/08/2019 21:37

@YorkshireIndie my hospital bags are pretty much packed too.
@SunshineSophia I've also done the sandwich bag trick for clothes, got different sizes in different bags depending how big she is. Anything to make things easier for hubby, he won't have a clue otherwise bless him 🙈

Rememberallball · 12/08/2019 21:50

Hi ladies, not been around as much as been getting house ready for babies arrival and getting myself prepared.

Hospital bag was packed 3 weeks ago as we went away at the end of July and I had to take it with me in case I ended up being admitted to hospital (we were over 180 miles from home) and they only let me go to the wedding if I was prepared to go to hospital if I bled (low lying placenta) or got pains.

We have built the travel system today and played around at going between car seat/carry cot and pushchair seat so I know I can do them all. Also tried putting Isofix base and car seat in the car - again was successful!! All we've left to build now is the changing unit for the bathroom which I think we might do tomorrow.

I’ve got my next scan on Wednesday - when I went for my regular fortnightly scan last week they found my bigger twin had gained around 1lb 4oz in the previous 2 weeks and gone back up to the 50th centile (the previous scan at 30 weeks had put the baby down from 50th centile to 20th and only gaining approximately 4oz) however the smaller twin had only gained 1oz in the past 2 weeks and gone firmly back below the 5th centile (at the previous scan the measurements had that twin gaining 10oz and going from under 5th centile to 11th centile).

Consultant spent a long time deciding what to do but, eventually, decided that she would leave things for another week as the blood flow studies and liquor volumes were both still ok. However she is now put me on weekly scans and will decide each week whether she will let me go another week or not!! I’m 32+4 today so only just over 3 weeks left from their previous expectation that they probably wouldn’t get me much beyond 36 weeks. Now I may not get beyond 33 weeks if baby doesn’t grow again on Wednesday or if blood flow studies aren’t as good.

Frizzy1986 · 12/08/2019 22:17

God I'm not packed yet at all. I've started washing clothes but haven't bought maternity pads, breast pads, nothing.
I've made a list. Does that count?
I'll be packing it this weekend ready to take to France though. Do you think I can get it all from Morrisons 😂 as I can't be arsed going all over the place!
@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy I liked breast vests last time. Turn any top into a breast feeding top.
@Rememberallball hopefully it all goes well and you last until 36 weeks, but you'll be in the best hands I'm sure. At least it didn't kick off when you were 180 miles away from home.

Has anyone had to get a safe to travel note? I need one for my holiday but don't know if I get it from my midwife at my next appointment or if it needs a gp.
I'm really excited to go away, although slightly nervous about the long journey. I'm trying to remember that it's only France, not the middle of nowhere. I'll feel better once we are there as I think the journey will be hard.

My bump is killing me at the moment. I always carry quite low so the downwards pull is a hassle at this point. I ordered a bump support which has been "handed to resident" today according to Amazon, yet nothing arrived at our reception so god knows where it is. Another thing to stress over.

umck2014 · 13/08/2019 01:56

Sorry haven’t been around since my first post - the thread disappeared on me and it took me a little while to find it!

Currently having insomnia - is anyone else finding it hard to fall asleep??? Back and hips are killing me. Which doesn’t help :(

God I still haven’t packed. It didn’t even get into my mind... anyone has a list/tips of what to pack to share?

Also has anyone had a home birth? What was your experience like? Would you recommend it? MW mentioned this in our last appt and i’ve Been thinking about it since. Haven’t made up my mind tho. Would need to do some more reset on this before deciding!

@HJWT2 More of a waddle than a plod for me these days! I’m huge!

Congratulations on your twins @Rememberallball. I hope the tests are all good this week.

I’m so impressed at how organised you all are. We pretty much have everything we need from ds1. But we do need to do a bit of an attic sort out to get it all together and washed.
I’m sure I found a good hospital bag list on here last time @umck2014. Must get thinking of mine!

Em39ma · 13/08/2019 07:50

I hope I’m not in for the weeks there thinking, I’m not good at doing nothing. Actually I’m pretty sure they will either induce me or send me home because I won’t be nice to know😂 and will have had enough of me.
@HJWT. I did know it could happen, but because as a nanny I’ve always worked for doctors, I didn’t mind the unsociable hours. Will get DH to stay with my parents as he has depression and it gets a lot if he is on his own. His parents don’t believe in depression, so make it twenty times worse.

umck2014 · 13/08/2019 12:04

@HJWT2
I feel so unorganised. Having done so little and have only 7 weeks left!

umck2014 · 13/08/2019 12:05

@HJWT2

HJWT · 13/08/2019 13:18

@Em39ma hopefully they will induce you! I couldn't be doing with staying in for more than a week 😂

OP posts:
HJWT · 13/08/2019 13:19

@umck2014 so did I so I have gone out this morning and bought some more bits of my list 😂😂😂

OP posts:
umck2014 · 13/08/2019 14:56

@HJWT I don’t even know if i’ll need one as I’m still thinking about having a home birth. But I think i’d rather be over prepared than under!

HJWT · 13/08/2019 15:07

@umck2014 still pack a bag incase you have to go in, you wont have chance to grab anything in an emergency xx

Bargain of the week, managed to get the cot bed mattress in John Lewis for £30 instead of £100. We have a family cotbed that is bigger than normal. Apparently someone ordered it and never picked it up and it won’t fit a normal size one.
So now have all the fitted sheets, side by side and carry cot sheets.
If anyone has one near them, have a lot in the sake at the moment.
Got everything for only £10 than the mattress originally was.

Em39ma · 13/08/2019 17:29

Sale not sake 😂

YorkshireIndie · 13/08/2019 19:28

@Em39ma love a bargain! All our baby equipment (bedside cot, bouncer and pram) are second hand. You are right it is always good to look in John Lewis and see what bargains they have on the shop floor

SunshineSophia · 13/08/2019 20:25

Excellent find @Em39ma!! Love a good bargain 😁😁😁😁

cattaxi · 13/08/2019 20:28

That’s a great list @HJWT2. I defo second having spare / back up bags. Ds was super mucousy. A c-section thing apparently. He threw up so much phlegm on both our clothes in the first 24 hours! Grim! I was very glad of the spare stuff!

@Em39ma that’s a great bargain. I only need some muslins, but will head over to John Lewis to see if I can get some posh ones in the sale!

Em39ma · 13/08/2019 21:09

I got some of the extra large posh ones for half price, so hopefully you can get some @Cattaxi

HJWT · 13/08/2019 21:46

@Em39ma I never get a good bargain but then again its a 40 minute drive to my nearest john lewis etc 😩

@cattaxiI I found some cute muslins in home sense as well as swaddle blanket size ones 😁

Also forgot to write snacks and drinks on my list! But got most of it today!

Now do I take a sports bag & changing bag or a mini suitcase 🙃 I think the sports bag will be easier to get into in a small space!? Whats everyone else using!

SunshineSophia · 13/08/2019 22:02

@HJWT I've packed a small holdall / weekend-bag type thing. It's a bit of a squeeze but I've managed to fit nearly everything on your list inside (except the snacks! Knowing mine and DH's appetite, snacks will need their own bag 😋)

Is anyone planning to split their hospital stuff into pre- and post-birth? Or one bag for mum and one for baby? I've seen a few posts on MN about it but haven't really thought much about it - any pros or cons to sticking to one bag?
