Is this test positive after my abortion?

Hi all, I had a 13 week surgical abortion after a lot of thought at the end of November. I took a test on Wednesday as recommended by Marie stopes but it was negative.. I had coincidently bought a pack of two tests and I still haven't had a period so thought I would double check and what I think is a faint line has come up! Could anyone give me their thoughts on this and tell me whether they think I'm imagining it or if they can see a line too? There is meant to be a vertical line through the middle of the round window. I'll be absolutely devastated if I'm pregnant again as it was so hard to make the decision of terminating and I was so heartbroken after my procedure. Of course there's the possibility that I have retained some tissue but it doesn't feel like it and my bleeding had completely stopped by just over two weeks.

Just an after thought.. just thinking that it's more likely a case of im in the early stages of another pregnancy as the first test was negative then a faint line two days later 🤔

No, I can't see a line. I think test is negative

Owlettele · 04/01/2019 22:47

Could it be a new pregnancy? - I mean is that possible . As in you had unprotected sex again after the abortion ?

gamerchick · 04/01/2019 22:47

Is there a chance you could be pregnant again? Ie unprotected sex?

Those tests look negative to me though.

Singlenotsingle · 04/01/2019 22:48

There's a horizontal line through the middle of the round window. Can't see a vertical one.

UnicornSlaughters · 04/01/2019 22:50

I can see a very faint line, could be an evap line though.

Have you had unprotected sex recently?

BaconPringles · 04/01/2019 22:51

I can’t see one but I do always have evap lines on Tesco tests, are these those

UnicornSlaughters · 04/01/2019 22:53

Get a test with pink dye like First Response or Superdrug's own brand. They're more reliable and easier to read.

Helpmelmaooo · 04/01/2019 22:55

Hi
I've newly been on the combined pill, but where I've been a bit of an emotional mess I have forgotten a few and have been having sex, not sure if the ones I missed were on the days I had sex. Yes these are the Tesco tests, I've always used Tesco ones and have had evap lines before but to me they're usually a thin line to the left whereas this one looks thicker and more central to me 🤔

I think I can poss see a v faint line but not sure. Wait a couple of days and test again?

WanderingTrolley1 · 04/01/2019 23:25

It’s very possible you’re pregnant.

Wait a few days and test again.

PineapplePrincess · 04/01/2019 23:29

I do see a faint line. I would retest, possibly with a pink dye on FMU, as it’s more definitive.

Could be retained tissue, but if you’ve had a clear negative before then it’s unlikely.

PinkAvocado · 04/01/2019 23:30

I can see a line too. I’d get a pink dye test or digital.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 04/01/2019 23:33

If it was a positive from the pregnancy you terminated (as in the termination hadn’t worked) then the line would be much darker.

If you think there is a chance of a new pregnancy you need to wait and test again.

Hope it’s negative for you OP.

Helpmelmaooo · 04/01/2019 23:53

Thanks for your replies.. Retained tissue I could deal with as I would not have another decision to make.. but I'm so scared as if it's a new pregnancy I couldn't go through the trauma of getting rid of my baby again yet I don't want to have another baby just yet

OP posts:
Helpmelmaooo · 04/01/2019 23:58

It's just that I've already got a baby who is only just one year, and although she is good as gold I feel it would really just be too much to have two of them and I also just can't afford to buy the whole kit again (a double buggy, new cot, clothes etc) as I passed most of my items on, I wasn't expecting another baby for at least two years!

PinkAvocado · 05/01/2019 15:58

Definitely try a different test as with those it is difficult to tell

MaverickSnoopy · 05/01/2019 17:09

I've had a line like that on a tesco test and wasn't pregnant. Really worried me at the time though as dd2 was only 6 months old. Take a different type of test tomorrow.

If you are pregnant and if you did decide to keep it you can get so many things cheaply through Facebook selling groups and Marketplace. I got a double buggy on there in almost mint condition at a fraction of the RRP

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 05/01/2019 17:21

I can't see the line but Op I hope not. I've been in the same situation (termination) because I was too unwell to cope. I'm not sure why anyone would put themselves through that terrible heartbreaking situation only to have unprotected sex straight away.

FrameyMcFrame · 05/01/2019 19:05

I think it's more likely that you're feeling very paranoid about becoming pregnant again after going through the termination.

I'd buy a clear blue test and test again ASAP just for peace of mind.

Try to keep on top of the contraception, maybe make an appointment with gp on Monday and ask about an implant or IUD while you get over this.
Thanks

Reported Claire.

reesesnlove · 05/01/2019 23:58

I can see a line on the second photo. I agree you should try a pink dye tests as the blue dye ones are so misleading and confusing. Good luck to you and it's nice to see that most of the responses here aren't judgmental. I've reported Claire too.

gamerchick · 05/01/2019 23:59

There is a rock to climb back under for you Claire over there somewhere.....

LuluJakey1 · 06/01/2019 00:00

Honestly OP, if you have just had an abortion of an unwanted pregnancy why did you have unprotected sex?
I really hope for your sake you are not pregnant but take your pill every day and don't put yourelf at risk.
