Hi, I'm 41, and 4w 4d pregnant. Trying not to get too excited yet as I know it's high risk.
Any other 40+ people out there? How are you getting on?

@tinyterror1 we're not getting any downs tests done and we're just going to wait for the routine scans, I've been told I'll get extra ones because of my age anyway.

Mybabiesaremylife · 17/06/2018 20:07

Hi,
First time posting (sorry if I'm doing this wrong!)

I am 40+5, today I have had 3 incidence of feeling wet, each time I have gone to the toilet straight away and it's just like I have poured water into my pants. Just enough to soak through about a 2 inch patch each time. I am unsure if this is just discharge (although it's so thin like water) or if it is slow leaking waters. They are not leaking constantly, just the 3 times so I am really unsure what it is. There is no smell to it.

I have already started loosing my mucus plug in the last few days.

I don't know weather or not to contact my midwife or not, I feel like I could be wasting their time and as I have already phoned up last couple of days regarding pelvic girdle pain and sciatica I don't want them to think I am just being a pain.

Any advice would be great.

I'm holding out for routine tests and nhs scans. To be honest everytime i got for a scan i get so worried, just can't help it , I suppose its getting me use to being a mum 🤔 Its my first so everything is new to me. Remember we are all in this together ❤

Pecan05 · 17/06/2018 20:19

@mybabiesaremylife phone them, that's what they are there for, you might be in slow labour, good luck 🍀🍀

Kitkat369 · 17/06/2018 21:40

Thanks ladies. Some good inspiration here. Keeping my fingers crossed

Pecan05 · 18/06/2018 00:11

Just looked at my notes, I get the dating scan, the 20 week scan and also growth scans at 28 + 34 weeks

TinyTerror1 · 18/06/2018 07:26

That sounds like what most of us are getting. More opportunities to see baby :)

I have to admit the anxiety is hard to deal with! I remember with my first I kept thinking that once we reached certain stages we'd be able to relax - after seeing the heartbeat, for example, on the first scan. But we didn't then relax, we worried about the anomaly scan at 12 weeks, telling ourselves we could relax after that - but of course we didn't, we worried about the next stage, and then the one after that, and then about the birth etc. It still goes on now she's four! Once you have successfully achieved any stage of parenthood, that worry is always immediately replaced by worry about what's coming next.

Despite knowing this, I'm finding it even harder to relax this time around. I've had a lot of nausea, my boobs were agony and I've been suffering terrible heartburn for the first time in my life. It's a pretty uncomfortable time, to be honest, but by yesterday afternoon I was feeling a lot better and so this morning have been stressing about the loss of symptoms and wishing I had heartburn again! Mad.

However the nausea has returned by now so I'm trying to ignore the anxiety and just get on with things. I'm not in the UK so I know things work slightly differently here. I've had my midwife booking in appointment but they won't scan before eight weeks as I have a history of losing them before then and essentially they don't want to waste the money if it's going to be for nothing Hmm, so we're just counting each day as a success and keeping our fingers crossed for 29 June, our eight week scan. 6+2 today, I believe.

Good luck, everyone!

BlueBug45 · 18/06/2018 11:50

@Kitkat369 I had problems taking the different types of pill due to side effects so having a discussion with my partner it was agreed it wasn't the end of the world if I got pregnant. I got pregnant 4 months later.

Pecan05 · 18/06/2018 13:10

@bluebug45 I was off the pill for nearly a year and was starting to think that I was physically past it, then I fell pregnant lol

Pecan05 · 19/06/2018 23:46

I'm probably being paranoid, I'm 9+2 today, I'm on antibiotics for a urine infection, and I've just been to do a pee, and there was light pink discharge /pee on the paper, I've got no cramps or anything. Am I being silly?

TinyTerror1 · 20/06/2018 07:29

I had that three times in the first 12 weeks and am now 24 weeks along. Spotting or bleeding is very common in the first trimester (something like 1 in 3 pregnancies). They do say you should always get it checked but I didn't read that until later so I never did. If it continues definitely call to set your mind at rest. Hope all ok xx

Pecan05 · 20/06/2018 07:45

@TinyTerror1 I had a bleed at 12 weeks with both my girls, nothing with my boys, I've not had any morning sickness with this one, when I was really nauseous with the other 4, so it's a totally different pregnancy from the word go, I think I'm panicking more because of my age, and the urine infection that I am asymptomatic for so was none the wiser. If it continues I def will get advice xx

JoJoyorker · 20/06/2018 14:18

Hi pecan, I've had pink discharge on and off for a few weeks. I'm seeing the midwife tmrw but I'm hoping it's nothing to worry about. I've done endless googling and seems it can be normal.

Pecan05 · 20/06/2018 17:47

There was a bit more blood just before 4pm so I've phoned the early pregnancy unit and I've to keep an eye on it tonight and tomorrow, but to phone back if it gets worse overnight 😕

TinyTerror1 · 20/06/2018 19:37

Hugs. Hope all ok xx

Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 13:53

I'm still bleeding, but no cramps, the gynae ward said that I'd only get brought in for a scan if I was soaking a thick pad every 20 mins (I'm only spotting on the pad, and there's a wee bit blood when I pee) or if I was in pain, so I'm trying to stay positive, it's not easy

JoJoyorker · 22/06/2018 13:57

Can you pay for a private reassurance scan pecan? To put your mind at rest

JoJoyorker · 22/06/2018 13:58

Is it definitely coming from that are and not to do with water infection as I think that can cause blood?

Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 14:13

I was thinking about paying for a scan, but my partner is away till Tuesday so wouldn't be till after that. I am on antibiotics for a uti, just hoping that that's the cause

Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 14:14

It looks like period blood but there's no clots

Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 14:22

Found this on the huggies website, so I'm trying to stay positive

40+ pregnancy
Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 16:44

I'm booked in for a scan tomorrow at 12 because I've started getting discomfort in my public bone. My partner can't be there as he's away 😢😢

JoJoyorker · 22/06/2018 17:15

Oh pecan try not to worry lots do have it and with no real reason for it. Please let us know how you get on x

Pecan05 · 22/06/2018 17:32

I will do, I'm trying not to worry, but it's not easy
